Bill McCaullah and Milt Avruskin welcomes the fans to the debut edition of ECWA Championship Wrestling.

They mention that on today’s program will feature a big TV Main Event as the ECWA Tag Team Champions Mr. Pogo & “Bulldog” Bob Brown will battle the team of Ron Ritchie and Steve Casey, plus we’ll see the debut of Gerry Morrow who will be teaming with the Cuban Assassin, plus former AWA World Heavyweight Champion Rick Martel.

But first before sending us to the ring, they welcome Emile Dupree and Jacques Rougeau Sr. to the interview area.

Dupree mentions that joining forces with Jacques Rougeau Sr. was the smartest move he’s ever done in the world of professional wrestling. He mentions that being able to bring the very best in professional wrestling to the most loyal and dedicated fans of the Maritimes and Quebec. He mentions that they’ve been working very hard on setting up the ECWA World Title Tournament and he will now let Jacques Rougeau Sr. give some details

Rougeau Sr. mentions that for the last couple of weeks they’ve been in contact with several organizations in the world to bring in the very best professional wrestlers in the world to take part in this tournament. The Tournament will be held in 2 big nights at the Montreal Forum. Friday, August 24th will feature the First Rounds of the tournament and then on August 25th the remainder of the tournament will be held also at the forum.

The tournament will contain 16 of the top wrestlers in the world and already signed for the tournament are: World Class Championship Wrestling American Champion “Gentlemen” Chris Adams, Maritime Heavyweight Champion “Rotten” Ron Starr, Leo Burke and former AWA World Heavyweight Champion Rick Martel. Rougeau tells the fans to stay tune for more big names being announced next week.

Milt Avruskin welcomes Steve Casey and Ron Ritchie to the Interview area.

Ritchie mentions that it’s time for the wrestling fans to have Tag Team champions that they can be proud off. He mentions that Brown and Pogo have been running around saying they face the best in the world, but the only thing they’ve been doing is running. Ritchie says that later today they are going to finish it today.

Casey says that he and Ritchie have been focused for the last several weeks and today is the day that the titles will be changing hands, and the fans will have champions they can be proud off.

Bill McCaullah welcomes Leo Burke, Gerry Morrow and the Cuban Assassin to the Interview area.

Burke says that he never thought he would see the day that he would be standing next to the Cuban Assassin , however he’s happy to call him a friend. Burke says that Bobby Bass and his Army better beware cause with the Assassin, Petitpas, himself and now Gerry Morrow gunning for them they are in big trouble. Burke also tells Ron Starr that the Maritime Title is still in his sights and he’s going to go nonstop for the title.

Assassin tells the fans that for several months he believed that Bobby Bass was his friend, but in reality he was thief. He stole several hundred dollars from him, and now he’s got people with him that he can trust and he’s going to not stop until Bass is put away for good.

Morrow says that he’s very happy to be here in Quebec and being with great friends he will do what it takes to help his friends out.

Milt Avruskin welcomes Rick Martel to the Interview area.

Martel says that it feels great to be returning home, and being in front of the greatest fans in the world right here in Canada. Martel says that he had lots of success in the US and around the world, but there’s no feeling like the feeling of returning home. He mentions the ECWA World Heavyweight Title tournament that will be coming up and he’s ready to take on all comers and bring home the World title for the great people of Canada.

Bill McCaullah welcomes the ECWA Tag Team Champions “Bulldog” Bob Brown and Mr. Pogo to the interview area.

Brown says that he’s been around the world and it still makes him sick to be in Canada. He says that coming up very soon he and Pogo are finally going to get rid of Casey and Ritchie. Brown says that the ECWA Tag Team titles are the most important titles in the world and these 2 dummies are not going to get them.

Milt Avruskin welcomes Maritime Heavyweight Champion Ron Starr to the interview area.

Starr says that he’s heard Burke saying that he wants this title, and he’s happy for Burke to have a goal in mind, but there is no way that Burke will be getting this title from him. Starr continues by saying that he’s got bigger fish to fry and that’s the World Title Tournament in August. He says that he should be automatically the # 1 seed since he’s the Maritime Champion, and he doesn’t care if it’s Martel, or that guy from Texas Chris Adams or who it is, the World Title will be his.

Steve Casey & Ron Ritchie defeats ECWA Tag Team Champions ”Bulldog” Bob Brown & Mr. Pogo, when Casey pinned Brown, after Pogo missed a head butt and accidently knocked out Brown.

Following the match, once Brown came too he began screaming and freaking out Pogo and slapped him a couple of times, till Pogo had enough and grabbed Brown by the throat to the delight of the fans, but out of the back came Kerry Brown who knee’d Pogo from behind. Kerry and Bob Brown begin to double team Pogo and they attempt to connect with a Spike Pile Driver, but Pogo managed to flip Bob Brown over and Slam Kerry off the top rope, sending the Browns running for cover.

Bill McCaullah sends us to the Milt Avruskin who’s in the back with the new ECWA Tag Team Champion Steve Casey and Ron Ritchie.

Casey and Ritchie are celebrating with Leo Burke, Rick Martel, Stephen Petitpas and a few more wrestlers who are pouring and drinking champagne.

Casey says that this is a great feeling that they will do what it takes to be champions that the people can be proud off.

Ritchie says that he and Steve have been working hard and hard work is prove that good things will happen.

The celebration continues in the back as the TV Program fades to black

Not surprised that The Browns are back together. You just can't pull greatness apart. Congrats to Casey and Ritchie. Starr is right. he is being dissed in that tournament. A ticked off Rotten Ron could spell trouble. great to see Martel happy about being home. The Cuban Assassin and Morrow together on the other side? HMMN!

Didn't see Pogo's face turn coming. Could lead to a fun little program before moving onto the Browns going for the gold.

Fun show here Snipe, great to see Kerry here and with Bulldog. There are lots of good teams here in Eastern Canada so the Brown's getting a feud against Pogo can be a fun few weeks for sure. Like the Ron Starr promo as well, I enjoy the Rotten one but with Burke and Martel around it will be tough to get that World Title AND might end up dropping the Maritimes title as well. Last, but not least, it always does my heart good to see the Great Gama pick up a victory.
