-We go now to Channel 5 Studios here in Memphis to Lance Russell and Dave Brown-
Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to “Championship Wrestling ‘85”. Tom Renesto is out to start the show and he asks “Macho Man” Randy Savage to make his way out from the dressing room. An irate Savage, his valet Miss Elizabeth and “Leaping” Lanny Poffo make their way out and Savage shouts that he wants his match with Killer Khan now. Renesto is clearly angered and says that will not be happening – because “Macho Man” Randy Savage is clearly his own worst enemy. Renesto has given him chance after chance to follow the rules and if he would have done that, he would have had a match with Khan weeks ago! However, Randy Savage has disregarded his authority at every pass and his stunt last Monday was the last straw – so Tom Renesto is suspending the Macho Man for two weeks time! Savage is furious and gets right in Renesto’s face – saying that nobody tells him what he can and can’t do, especially not some old man in a suit. Reneto tells Savage that his suspension starts now and he motions to the dressing room.
Four of the Memphis PD’s first make their way into the studio and handcuff an irate “Macho Man” Randy Savage to eject him from the studio! Renesto says that these officers will make sure that Savage gets home safely – but things could get worse if Randy makes any more trouble. Renesto then turns his attention to Lanny Poffo and says that there will be consequences for Lanny as well. Since Lanny seems to follow his brother around like a puppy dog and also seems to have a problem with Scandor Akbar, Lanny Poffo can take on both Killer Khan and Scandor Akbar in a handicap match this Monday night! Poffo tells Renesto that he will take on anyone – and that he would hate to be the guy on “Macho Man” Randy Savage’s bad side. Eddie Marlin is out now and says that he disagrees with all of this, but Renesto makes it clear that he works for CWA and not Eddie Marlin.
1) ”Wildfire” Tommy Rich pinned Roy Lee Welch at 5:32 when he came off the ropes with the Lou Thesz Press.
CWA Heavyweight Champion Jerry “The King” Lawler is out next and Lance announces that he will defend against The Masked Superstar this Monday night. Lawler says as far as he is concerned, getting a win over The Masked Superstar will close a chapter in his career. Jake “The Snake” Roberts is gone after losing to The King, and he will be happy to send The Masked Superstar packing this Monday night at the Mid South Coliseum as well. The King then mentions that his sights are now firmly set on challenging Ric Flair for the NWA Heavyweight Title during one of his two defenses here in CWA this summer.
Jerry Lawler knows that the Southern Heavyweight Champion is guaranteed the July shot – and right now that belt is held by Dutch Mantell. He wishes Mantell the best of luck and adds that he would love to face either Mantell or Flair in August. Lance Russells reiterates that a tournament will take place to determine who gets that August title shot against either Flair or Mantell. Lance Russell goes to change the subject to Bill Dundee, but Lawler tells him that he has more than enough to think about without having to deal with the Superstar’s bruised ego as well.

“Wildfire” Tommy Rich and “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant join Lance Russell to discuss their final shot at the Southern Tag Team Titles this Monday night against the PYT Express. Rich tells Lance that both himself and the Boogie Man are “all faaaaaared up” about getting one last crack at Koko B. Ware and Norvell Austin this Monday night. Valiant bellows that “that the sneaky little weasel” Jimmy Hat has cheated himself and Tommy Rich time after time, but he reminds the people that they beat the PYT Express before the titles changed hands.
Tommy Rich agrees, but mentions that it’s no time for excuses. Rich and Handsome Jimmy have something to prove this Monday night and they will have to prove without a doubt that they can beat the PYT Express. And they have a secret weapon! Terry Taylor makes his way out and reveals that he will be in the corner of Tommy Rich and Jimmy Valiant to ensure that Jimmy Hart and Big Bubba Rogers don’t try to stick their big noses where they don’t belong!
2) Killer Khan (w/ Scandor Akbar) defeated David Oswald by forcing him to submit to the nerve hold.
Scandor Akbar and Killer Khan make their way over to the desk, and Khan’s shrieking clearly intimidates Dave Brown. Akbar tells Brown that he has Khan perfectly under control here today – but he will unleash the monster on Lanny Poffo last Monday night. Scandor says that he objects to having to get into the ring this Monday on principle because he is a business man and a manager. He solves his problems with his mind and by hiring the right people to make sure his interests are pursued.
However, Akbar tells Lanny Poffo that in this instance he will take pleasure in having an up-close look at Killer Khan slaughtering him into submission in front each and every Memphis fan. And there will be nobody around to save Lanny Poffo! Randy Savage is banned from the Coliseum because he is too dumb for his own good and if Miss Elizabeth tries to stick her pretty little nose in, Akbar will handle her himself! Scandor Akbar closes the interview by proclaiming himself to be the greatest wrestler manage and he vows that his brand of Devastation Incorporation will spread through CWA like a virus.

CWA co-matchmaker Tom Renesto makes his way back out and admits to Lance Russell that his decision earlier might make him unpopular to some fans. However, he is only acting in the best interests of CWA and he will always act in the best interests of CWA – rather than relying on sentiment like others have done in the past. Lance Russell adds that others have done a fine job in the past – clearly referencing Eddie Marlin. Renesto ignores him and reveals that his announcement now is also in the best interest in CWA. He talked last week about including a world caliber wrestler in the tournament to see who faces the NWA World Heavyweight Champion in August. And that’s why he is announcing that he wants Ted Dibiase to compete in that tournament!
Lance Russell is stunned – and mentions that Dibiase has said that he is taking a break from wrestling to focus on business. A seemingly surprised Ted Dibiase makes his way out and admits that he wishes that Renesto would have run this by him, because he has no intention of wrestling here in CWA. Renesto wants to know why that is? Renesto mentions that Didbiase’s agreement with CWA does not include anything to do with matchmaking power - he has no influence on the matches and can show no favortism. In fact, Jerry Jarrett wrestled here in the past even though he was an owner in the past! More than that, Dibiase is a marquee name and it makes solid business sense for him to be wrestling each Monday night!
Ted Dibiase is listening, as Jerry Jarrett and Eddie Marlin come out. Marlin mentions that this discussion should be carried on away from the cameras. Renesto reiterate that he does not work for Marlin and wants to know from Jerry Jarrett if there are any rules stating that Dibiase is not allowed to wrestle in CWA because of his business dealings. Jarrett admits that no such rules are in place because the situation is so rare. Renesto then appeals directly to Dibiase and mentions that his name of the marquee sells tickets – and more tickets sold mean a successful promotion.
The CWA investor listens to all of this and admits to Lance Russell that he has been itching to get back in the ring. Now, Tom Renesto is telling him that there is no conflict of interest rule preventing him from wrestling in CWA. And if these great fans want to see him wrestle, well then he will pull out his boots and trunks and give them a good show! Jarrett and Marlin appear skeptical, but Renesto is pleased. Tom Renesto says he’d like to get Ted Dibiase a nice warm-up match this Monday against Phil Hickerson! Dibiase remarks that there’s no rest for the weary, but he’ll give it his best shot! Dibiase shakes hands with Tom Renesto as Eddie Marlin appeals to Jerry Jarrett to think this over. Jerry Jarrett doesn’t seem to be very comfortable with any of this.
3) The Wolverines: Dave Finlay & Mark Rocco defeated The Interns: A & B at 4:47 when Dave Finlay comes off the second rope with a big stomp on Intern A’s stomach for the pin.
The Wolverines storm over to the desk and run off Dave Brown. Dave Finlay grabs the microphone and yells that the whole world saw them beat those pansies Stan Lane and Shawn Michaels last Monday. And now he hears that this Monday it will be a No Holds Barred match? Finlay wants to know if Michaels and Lane are gluttons for punishment or if the CWA matchmakers just hate their stinking guts like the Wolverines do?
Dave Finlay adds that he and Rocco have had fun beating the holy hell out of Sweet Sensation every week for the last several weeks. But they are sick and tired of these punks coming back over and over again! Finlay promises to end the feud with this Monday and then The Wolverines will move on to the Southern Tag Team Championship belts. Finlay and Rocco walk off as we go to break.

Lance Russell is joined by Southern Heavyweight Champion Dutch Mantell, who beat another international challenger last week with a win over El Canek. This Monday, it will be another tough match as Mantell defends against the current NWA British Empire Champion the Dynamite Kid from England! Mantell says everyone has heard of the Dynamite Kid and he knows just how dangerous the man is. Dutch thinks this might be the toughest match from his title range, but he will come out on top. Dutch wants Ric Flair to watch very closely because the Kid will meet the same fate that awaits the Nature Boy when he comes to Memphis in July. The Dutchman then makes his way up to the ring for the main event as the show continues.
4) Southern Heavyweight Champion Dutch Mantell pinned Barry O at 8:31 when he connected with the hangman’s neck-breaker on the very game challenger.
“Superstar” Bill Dundee is out to discuss getting his own measure of revenge against Jake “The Snake” Roberts last Monday. Dundee has heard that Roberts has left town and that’s good news for everyone. On that point and that point only, he can agree with The King. However, Dundee says that The King is clearly looking past him and proving himself to be over-confident as usual. The Superstar tells Dave Brown that it’s typical of Jerry Lawler to be angling for a title match - when there are more qualified contenders out there. Now, there’s no doubt in Bill's mind that Lawler can beat Ric Flair for the NWA Title. The real topic of discussion is that Dundee knows and all of the people that the Superstar not only can beat Flair as well, but he HAS beaten Jerry Lawler.
So as far as he is concerned, it will be “Superstar” Bill Dundee who gets that shot against either Ric Flair or Dutch Mantell. Now speaking of Mantell, Dundee reminds Dave Brown that he beat The Dutchman not too long ago here in the CWA ring as well. The King thinks the challenger for the NWA Title is a foregone conclusion and he is right. It is a foregone conclusion that Bill Dundee will get the shot at the NWA World Title because there is nobody here who can prove him wrong! Dave Brown sends us to break as Bill Dundee gets a mixed reception from the fans in the studio today.
