The show opens in a media room. A table is set up with David Manning, Bill Mercer and Marc Lowrance sitting at it. Several media members are seated in chairs.
Manning. “Welcome to this press conference. I am representing World Class Championship Wrestling. Fritz Von Erich, the President of the organization, has chosen not to attend this conference. I represent Fritz, Ed Watt, and the Championship Committee today. Let’s get right to the point. Last week, I refereed an American Heavyweight Title match between Kerry Von Erich and Chris Adams. I disqualified Kerry for hitting me and I recommended that he be stripped of the title. Ed Watt and the Championship Committee met to discuss this. Here is their ruling. ‘World Class Championship Wrestling strives to provide the best wrestling action for its fans. We also believe it providing a fair setting for all wrestlers and referees. We will not have our officials placed in dangerous situations. With that said, we have decided to strip Kerry Von Erich of the American Heavyweight Title due to his attack on referee David Manning. The title is vacant and will be filled with a tournament. The finals of that tournament will be held on July 7 at Reunion Arena at the Firecracker Spectacular. Also, Kerry Von Erich will be barred from this tournament.’ They have a second statement concerning the NWA World Title match scheduled for July 7. ‘Ric Flair is scheduled to defend the World Championship against the American Heavyweight Champion on July 7. There will be no Champion until that night. We have informed the NWA President JIm Crockett about this. He will have a statement concerning this in the coming days.’ I will now turn this over to Bill Mercer, who has more information about this.”
Mercer, “We have news from the NWA Office. Next week, Mr. Crockett will have a decision concerning who will challenge Ric Flair on July 7.”
The press conference ends and we go to the Sportatorium ring. Rip Oliver and the Iron Shiek are in the ring. The Sheik has a set of Persian clubs with him. Oliver takes the mic.
Oliver, “My name is Rip Oliver and I am the leader of the ‘Clan’. This is the Iron Sheik and he is the first member of my group. Texas wrestling is about to change. These are Persian clubs. They weigh 80 a piece. What the Sheik is about to do can be done by very few people. I can do it, of course, but no other American wrestler can.”
The Iron Sheik goes through a demonstration of the clubs.
Oliver, “The ‘Clan’ is about to take over Texas!”
Match #1
The Iron Sheik w/Rip Oliver vs. Bob Marcus
The Sheik goes to work on Marcus. The former Iranian Olympian punishes Marcus with suplex after suplex. Marcus tries to fight back, but he is no match for the Sheik. He applies the camel clutch for the win.
Winner-The Iron Sheik
Match #2
The Magic Dragon vs. Iceman King Parsons
The popular Iceman continues to be very impressive. He will be a contender in the coming title tournament. The Dragon looks good early. He goes after Parsons using martial arts tactics. Iceman is in trouble. The Sportatorium crowd gets behind Iceman. The man from St. Louis comes back. He uses the buttbump for the win.
Winner-Iceman King Parsons
Bill Mercer is seated in the studio.
Mercer, "There are so many things going on right now. Rip Oliver, and the 'Clan', are here. We have a great main event, Adrian Street takes on Brian Adias. Now about the American Heavyweight Title. We now know a little bit more. There will be qualifying matches over the next few weeks. On July 7, at the 'Firecracker Spectacular, the two survivors will meet for the title, and Kerry Von Erich will NOT be in the tournament. We will have more information in the coming days. Now we have a new tag team in action. The Nightmares are in the ring."
Match #3
The Nightmares vs. Hoot Gibson and Larry Lane
The NIghtmares are two small, quick wrestlers with stars painted on their faces. Danny Davis and Ken Wayne are two proven tag team wrestlers and they wrestle like it. They tag in and out and use high flying tactics to get the edge on their opponents. Wayne hits a flying bodypress to pin Gibson.
Winners-The Nightmares
Gary Hart, Sunshine, Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez are with Marc Lowrance.
Lowrance, “With me are Gary Hart, Sunshine and the Dynamic Duo. Gentlemen, and lady, the American Heavyweight Title is vacant, and Mr. Adams and Mr. Hernandez have to be considered top contenders.”
Hart, “That’s very astute of you Lowrance, Chris and Gino are the top men in World Class, we all know that, but I’m surprised that you recognize that.”
Sunshine, “They should have just given the title to Chris, or Gino, but at least Von Erich won’t be in the tournament. It's about time they got what was coming to them!”
Lowrance, “Sunshine still holds that grudge. My question is, what happens if Adams and Hernandez meet in the tournament?”
Hart, “Then the best man will win.”
Lowrance, “Very profound Mr. Hart. Let’s see Chris Adams in action.”
Match #4
Chris Adams w/”Playboy” Gary Hart and Sunshine vs. Mike Reed
Adams has to be considered the favorite going into the tournament for the vacant title. Since joining Hart, the ‘Gentleman’ has been very impressive. Young Mike Reed has his hands full. Lowrance, “With me are two people who have caused quite a stir in Texas. Mr.Street, you have shocked people, but everyone admits, you are a fine wrestler.”
Street, “Thank you so much for noticing. You know, Mr. Lowrance, Linda could do wonders with your makeup, a little light blue eye shadow, a little pink blush.”
Lowrance, “Mr. Street, could we talk about wrestling? You meet Brian Adias tonight. He is a fine wrestler and a close associate of the Von Erichs.”
Street, “Oh yes, another fine Texan. Not as beautiful as Kevin, but good none the less. I have set my sights on the Texas Title. I want to be in the ring with Kevin Von Erich Tonight I may have to teach his good friend and good lesson.”
Lowrance, “With Mr. Street, that could mean a lot of things.”
Match #5
“Exotic” Adrian Street w/Miss Linda vs. Brian Adias
Adias waits in the ring with referee Bronko Lubich. We hear,
Street and Miss Linda climb into the ring. Linda brushes Street's hair and Street smiles as Adias gets more impatient. The bell rings and Adias moves toward Street, who offers his hand for a shake, or maybe a kiss. Adias is livid and he pays for it. He gets reckless and soon Street is in control. Adrian gets a two count with a bridge. Adias is able to rally. He takes the fight to Street, and the man from the Royal Forest of Dean is frustrated. He takes to the floor and Linda consoles him. Street returns to the ring and begins to rough up Adias. He clamps on the cobra hold and Adias is out. Linda comes in the ring with her bag and Street applies makeup and lipstick to Adias. This will not sit well with the Von Erichs.
Winner-Adrian Street
Bill Mercer closes the show.
