COL DEBEERS DEF. STEVE KEIRN via piledriver
TITO SANTANA DEF. GREG VALENTINE w/DR JERRY GRAHAM JR via flying forearm
after the match, Graham distracted Tito and Valentine attacked him from behind, putting him in the figure four
leg lock. He would not let it go until officals came out and made him break it. Tito had to be carried via stretcher
out of the stadium.
CURT HENNIG DEF. MR SAITO w/SHEIK ADNAN EL KAISSEY via a suplex
in a wild match that saw Saito almost three times make Hennig submit.
SUPERSTAR BILLY GRAHAM DEF. NICK BOCKWINKEL w/FLOYD CREATCHMEN via Bear Hug
INTERMISSION
AWA INTERNATIONAL TITLE:
MIL MASCARAS vs. RICK MARTEL went to a time limit draw
Mascaras was locked in the boston crab and almost gave up as bell rang.
AWA TAG TITLE MATCH:
ROAD WARRIORS DEF. DUNCUM/MULLIGAN via doomsday device that they hit on Mulligan.
After the match, while they are celebrating, Sheik El Kaissey comes to ringside and taunts them, they chase him outside the ring and into the infield but they are
ambushed by Nord and Bruiser Brody. They are beaten down to the ground and left lying in the middle of the infield.
AWA TITLE MATCH:
STEVE DOC DEATH WILLIAMS w/BOB ROOP vs. BOB BACKLUND
These two shake hands in the beginning, they go hold for hold amazing fans alike, and everytime one would hit a hold the other would seem to find a counter for it. Backlund is hit with man power moves and Steve tries to get the pin but Bob kicks out of it time and time again. Doc gets frustrated especially when Backlund takes control and keeps him close to the mat. He talks it over with Roop on the outside but when it seems like he does not agree with Roop, he goes back into the match. He wears Backlund down with a suplex then a clothesline. He tries for the Oklahoma Stampede but Bob fights out of it. Bob then goes back in control and after hitting a firemans carry, he stalks Doc and catches him in the crossface chicken wing. Doc is down on the mat, but he is no danger or so it looks as Bob cinches it in, Roop gets animated yelling for Doc on the outside. He has a white towel on his shoulder and after a few more minutes of yelling at Doc, he tosses the towel into the ring, signalling the surrender of Doc.
The bell rings and Backlund is given the AWA belt which he holds over his head. Doc is having words with Roop, he shakes the hand of Backlund but is frustrated going to the back. They start to construct the cage for the co main event, and Ken Resnick interviews Verne. Verne talks about how Doc should not worry, there will be a rematch and this time, you cannot be saved by your corner. Roop comes over and talks about how maybe he should get a shot at Backlund them both being former amateur wrestlers. Verne talks slow but talks about how Bob is a better coach now, and he will be the best teammate in the cage tonight. They head to the back as the cage is still going up.
HONKY TONK MAN comes out and tries to sing which angers the crowd until Superstar Graham comes back out there and kindly tells Honky that the fans do not want to hear him. Honky gets right up in Billy's face and tries to him him with his guitar but Billy takes it from him and blasts Honky with his own guitar.
MAIN EVENT CAGE MATCH:
VERNE GAGNE/BOB ROOP vs. LARRY Z/RAY STEVENS w/FLOYD CREATCHMEN
All four men brawl in the ring, Verne is really working over Larry and will not let up. Bob gets in some offense but prefers to stay on the outside. Verne is cleaning house first with Larry and then with Ray once he tags in. Verne keeps hitting punches, then he suplexes Ray to the mat. He then takes his down with an arm drag take down. Roop keeps calling for him to tag him in, but Verne keeps signalling he has it. Ray is able to tag out to Larry. Larry gets more of the same punishement, but Larry when he is down gives Verne a low blow, as the crowd groans. Larry then capitalizes on that, working over Verne and tagging out to Ray. Ray almost stomps Verne into the mat. Ray is dishing out punishment and it is not clear how much Verne can take. He tries to tag out to Bob, but is cut off time and time again. They keep getting two counts on Verne as he kicks out and tries to get to his corner. The crowd is cheering Verne on as he heads toward Roop. Stevens is able to come over and stop him from getting there. The crowd is getting restless, and when Stevens goes for a backdrop, Verne reaches down and blasts him in the face with a punch. Both men are down and Verne is heading for his corner. He makes the hot tag to Roop, who comes in ready to blast someone, he has his arm out for a clothesline, will he hit Larry or Stevens, he winds up and delivers a clothesline to VERNE. Roop clotheslines Verne and the Metrodome is stunned. Stevens and Larry get smiles on their faces and help Roop attack Verne. Roop piledrives Verne on the mat, and Larry makes the cover getting the three count.
FLOYD comes in the ring to celebrate with Roop, Stevens goes out and grabs the keys from the ref, Nick Bockwinkel makes his way to ringside and locks the door once Ray is back in. They start a four on one assault on Verne. Kicking and stomping him into the mat. Wrestlers are coming down to try and climb the cage but Stevens and Roop are knocking them off as they climb. Bob Backlund comes down and starts his climb on the opposite side from the door but is knocked down again and again, but will not give up. Roop gets Verne up in a piledriver and Stevens comes off with a spike piledriver. Verne is not moving. Doc and Superstar Graham come down to ringside and survey the scene. Together they grab the lock and chain on the door and both pull, it snaps apart and they are able to get into the ring. This also allows Bob Backlund time to climb the cage and he climbs over the top as Doc and Superstar enter. They attack the Players Club and along with the other wrestlers are able to chase them from the ring. They tend to Verne, who is not moving still. They bring down a stretcher and take down the cage to get him from the arena.
