ROSS: Welcome to Mid South Wrestling. We have an exciting hour this week. We’ll see the new Mid South Tag Team Champions, the Love Train, in action. Greg Gagne will be here against a tough competitor in Ron Sexton. Kevin Sullivan has yet another “dark soldier” in the army he says he is building. I don’t know who this man is, but he will have to wrestle Bob Orton Jr., so he’d better be tough! We also have Jack & Jerry Brisco in action against Wendell Cooley & Coco Samoa. This brings up a point that I want to make. Last week, Jerry Brisco & Greg Gagne lost the Mid South Tag Titles to the Love Train. This past week, throughout the territory, whenever the former champions were scheduled to wrestle, Jerry Brisco & Greg Gagne did not appear, but Jack & Jerry Brisco wrestled instead and they wrestled in what could charitably called a more aggressive style. Honestly, these two men were just breaking rules this past week. My question for you, Jack & Jerry Brisco, is “What is going on with you two?”
JACK: I’ll tell you exactly what’s going on, Jim Ross! Briscos aren’t losers and we don’t associate with losers! That Love Train or soul train or whatever you call that bunch of sissies didn’t belong in the same ring with a Brisco! If it had been me in the ring with Gerald, we’d still be champions! Now, my brother has a real partner, a former NWA World Champion, former NCAA Champion! Greg Gagne, you can go find yourself a new partner or go back home to daddy as far as I’m concerned!
JERRY: Love Train, Chris Love, you could handle Greg Gagne, but you won’t have a chance against my brother Jack, the former heavyweight champion!
ROSS: We’ll see Greg Gagne against Ron Sexton after some commercial messages and this videotaped message from Hacksaw Butch Reed!
VTR:
Butch Reed is sitting on a bench in a dressing room, doing preacher curls with a dumbbell.
REED: I don’t take a backseat to any man! In a straight up fight or wrestling match, I’ll take on any man alive and be confident that I can win! Buddy Landel, in a one on on one match, I’d tear you apart! You had your girlfriend prancing around at ringside and I got distracted! That won’t happen again! I can have somebody in my corner, too, Nature Boy! Tony Atlas has his bags packed and he’s bought his plane ticket! Mr. USA is coming to Mid South! He’ll chase your bimbo out of here and it will be you and me! Atlas is coming! Tony and me were the first black AWA World Tag Team Champions and we know how to get down and get it done! All of you tag teams better be ready! Mid South is gonna be cleaned up and men like Atlas, Hacksaw Duggan, Tiger Conway, Jr., & Magnum TA are ready to get it done!

Greg Gagne wrestles Ron Sexton. Sexton provides solid competition, but the Gagne sleeper gives Greg a win here on TV.

Jack & Jerry Brisco wrestle Coco Samoa & Wendell Cooley. The Briscos have adopted a cocky attitude and break rules on their way to a competitive win as Jerry pins Samoa after the Oklahoma side roll. Watts & Ross put Jack & Gerald over a world class competitors and say that Greg Gagne, the Love Train, or anybody else who gets on their bad side will be in for a rough time.

The Mid South Tag Champs The Love Train-Hollywood John Tatum & Ravishing Randy Rose(w/Christopher Love) enter the ring to take on veterans Tony Garea & Nelson Royal in non-title action. Royal and Garea dominate most of the action, but when Royal goes for a bulldog on Rose, Randy holds onto the ropes and Royal goes flying takes a nasty bump! Rose drops a big elbow onto the former world junior champ and scores the pin for the Love Train! Afterwards, Love and his team do their little train dance around the ring! As the fans rain down boos!
ROSS: I’m joined by some men who had to have some interest in our last match, Ken Mantell and the tag team of Elijah Akeem & Kareem Muhammad, the Zambuie Express!
MANTELL: The Mid South Tag Team Titles will be the property of the Mantell Corporation very soon! Look at these two men, Jim Ross! Both near 400 pounds! Two of the strongest men in wrestling! Two of the toughest I have ever seen! The Love Train is good, I’ll give them credit, but they aren’t killers like these two! The Brisco brothers have seen better days and can’t match the power of the Express! Nobody is as powerful as this team! No team anywhere! Bill Watts, you and Grizzly Smith can line up teams from the USA, Mexico, Japan, Canada, or Europe! The Zambuie Express will dominate just like the Mantell Corporation’s individual wrestlers Stan Hansen & Jumbo Tsuruta! Christopher Love, we demand a title match!
ROSS: That would be a great match. Maybe, we will see it on the huge Superdome Summer Spectacular coming on July 6th! Bill Watts, I understand that you have some announcements to make regarding that card!
WATTS: That’s right, Jim! We have come to terms with the NWA World Champion Ric Flair and he will defend his title on that great card! North American Champion Michael Hayes will defend his North American championship as well! We will announce the names of the challengers in the coming weeks! And we will be right back with Kevin Sullivan. He says the Purple Haze will descend on Mid South Wrestling, whatever that is supposed to mean…

Kevin Sullivan enters the building with a large man in a purple robe…..
WATTS: Well, Kevin Sullivan is here and he has a man with him who I know very well. Mark Lewin, it’s good to see you. I haven’t seen you since you, Don Curtis, and I would ride together up in New York….
SULLIVAN: Bill Watts, MARK LEWIN IS DEAD! What stands before you is the PURPLE HAZE! I went down to the Gulf and I invoked the name of Abbuda Dein and summoned him from the waters and he came to me! Now, with Humongous and the Purple Haze, I will achieve my goals and the dark army I have built shall conquer Mid South!
WATTS: Say what you want, I know this man as Mark Lewin!
SULLIVAN: Lewin was the name people like you called him before he went to Singapore and Calcutta, consorted with the Lady of the Third Eye, stripped himself of arrogance and vanity, and embraced the darkness, Watts! With him by my side, my goals shall be achieved and that right soon!
WATTS: Ok, exactly what goals are you talking about?
SULLIVAN: I spent two years in Florida, trying to destroy the plague named Virgil Runnels. Do you know who he is?
WATTS: Virgil Runnels is the birth name of “the American Dream” Dusty Rhodes!
SULLIVAN: I was sent to Florida to destroy the façade of the great American Dream, but from day one, promoter Eddie Graham, the National Wrestling Alliance, and all of the Florida officials conspired against me! Soon, I realized it would be impossible to get at the Dream! He was too protected and sheltered! But, here in Mid South, we have the protégé of Dusty Rhodes, a man who is like a son to him, I speak of Terry Allen, the man you call Magnum TA! I know you mail Dusty a videotape of this every week so he can follow his boy’s progress! Dusty, I know you hear this! If I can’t get at you with all of your political protection, Virgil, I can do the next best thing: I can destroy Terry Allen! Allen, you are looking at the stuff nightmares are made of, boy! Bob Orton, you should have never signed this contract! Terry Allen, watch this closely and see what your future holds!
“Purple Haze” Mark Lewin (w/Kevin Sullivan) takes on Bob Orton, Jr. Lewin fights brutally and viciously while Orton puts on a display of great technical wrestling. In the end, Sullivan manages to distract the Cowboy just long enough for Lewin to apply the Shanghai Sleeper and the Purple Haze puts Orton under for an impressive debut win! Watts admits that Sullivan, Haze, & Humongous are a big, tough, physical group that could give Magnum a bunch of trouble!

PIERCE: Wrestling fans, in just a few minutes, Hacksaw Jim Duggan defends his TV Title against former champion Buddy Roberts. If Duggan is able to successfully defend that title this week, he’ll defend against Stan Hansen right here on TV next week! Stan Hansen, you and Hacksaw Duggan have had some very physical confrontations since you arrived here recently…
HANSEN: Boyd Pierce, I’ve beat him within an inch of his life! Ken Mantell told me when I signed up with the Mantell Corporation that Duggan was a thorn in his side and there would be big money in it for me if I ran him out of wrestling! Duggan, I want that money and I want that belt, boy! If I want something, I take it, Jim Duggan and nobody or nothing stands in my way! When I hit you with the lariat, you’re goin down! (holds up bullrope) If you had any guts at all, boy, you’d sign a match where we were hooked together with the Brazos Valley Bullrope! But that would be too much to expect from somebody like you! Next week, you mommies and daddies might wanta keep the channel on cartoons for your kids because what I have planned for Duggan is barely fit for television!

WATTS: Buddy Roberts is in the ring with Michael Hayes in his corner. Here comes the TV Champion, Hacksaw Jim Duggan! Jim will get some comments….
ROSS: Jim Duggan, you are truly a fighting champion! Former Champion Buddy Roberts this week, Stan Hansen here on TV next week!
DUGGAN: Whoa, Jimbo, one match at a time, guy! Buddy Roberts is nobody to look past! He’s the sneaky, conniving Freebird and he is a tough wrestler! Hansen, you’ve busted me open a few times, tough guy, but with these great fans behind me, I’ll fight anybody, anyplace, anytime! But Buddy Roberts, you’re first!
Hacksaw Jim Duggan defends his TV title against Buddy Roberts (w/Michael Hayes). Roberts attacks at the bell and gives Duggan a tough battle! Stan Hansen is picked up by a camera, in a corner of the room, watching the match. Duggan hits the spear and picks up a hard fought pin. After the bell, Hansen makes his way to ringside and has a verbal confrontation with Duggan!
ROSS: I’ve just been handed the card that Grizzly Smith has signed for next week’s program and you can’t miss it and call yourself a wrestling fan! Jim Duggan will defend that TV Title against Stan Hansen! North American Champion Michael Hayes will wrestle the double tough Mike George! Terry Gotdy & Buddy Roberts will wrestle Wendell Cooley & Tiger Conway, Jr! Tony “Mr. USA” Atlas returns and will wrestle! Magnum TA meets one of Japan’s greatest stars, the great Tenryu!
WATTS: Duggan vs. Hansen or Magnum TA vs. Tenryu would literally be a main event in any event in the world and we will have them on TV! Folks, this just shows why Mid South is the best wrestling in the world today!
