-We go now to Channel 5 Studios here in Memphis to Lance Russell and Dave Brown-
Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to “Championship Wrestling ‘85”. The announcers talk about a big Memorial Day card coming up on Monday night, which will be headlined with a tag team match as Jerry “The King” Lawler teams up with Terry Taylor to face Jake “The Snake” Roberts and The Masked Superstar. Plus, “Superstar” Bill Dundee puts his CWA Heavyweight Title on the line against a man coming in from out of the town – the original and very dangerous Assassin. Plus, we will have a rematch as Sweet Sensation defend their Southern Tag Team Titles against The Wolverines. Bill Dundee makes his way out to the studio now – and it must be said that he receives a mixed reactions from the fans.
Bill Dundee complains to Lance Russell about the smattering of boos, and once again questions what exactly he did wrong. Lance mentions that he cracked The King with his title belt last week, but Dundee said that Russell failed to mention that Lawler antagonized him the whole match before that. And clearly, he is not in cahoots with The Snake because Jake Roberts attacked him after the match! Russell admits that Dundee has a point there, but asks if it is true that Dundee backed out of teaming with Lawler for this Monday night’s main event against Roberts and the Masked Superstar. Bill Dundee tells Lance that it is true – but only because as far as he is concerned, he is done doing favors for “the Kingfish”.
This brings Jerry Lawler out to the studio and he has a big smile on his face. Lawler tells Lance that, first of all, Dundee getting a DDT didn’t prove anything because we all know that Jake Roberts has elaborate plots. But as far as he is concerned, he doesn’t want to team with Dundee either. The King then warns Dundee to stay out of his business this Monday night – and they’ll handle their issue later on. Lawler and Dundee jaw back and forth a bit, before the Superstar says he has a match with The Assassin to focus on and doesn’t have time for this garbage. Dundee storms off as Lawler remarks that running away is what Bill Dundee has always done best.
1) Phil Hickerson pinned Charlie Cook at 5:41 when he connected with a back suplex and then a running knee drop across the forehead.
CWA investor Ted Dibiase is out with Eddie Marlin after the match, and Dibiase tells Dave Brown that he is officially a part of CWA now and he is very proud of that. Dibiase tells Dave that CWA is promotion that prides itself on keeping the people happy and largely it has been successful. Ted credits Eddie Marlin with doing a heck of a lot of work and says that he has made it his first act to make things a bit easier for Marlin. Eddie Marlin seems caught off guard by this, and seems more confused as Dibiase reveals that he has lobbied Jerry Jarrett and he would like to introduce someone to help share responsibility with Eddie Marlin in running CWA’s day-to-day operations. Ted Dibiase then welcomes a veteran professional wrestler named Tom Renesto out to the studio.
Eddie Marlin again seems confused by this whole thing as Renesto offers to shake his hand. Marlin reluctantly shakes Renesto’s hand. Dibiase tells Marlin that he can see that Eddie looks tense – but this is really all about making Eddie’s life easier! Tom Renesto has a financial background, much like Dibiase himself, and he will just be here to help make the best financial decisions possible for CWA. Jerry Jarrett makes his way out now and says that he was hoping to speak to Eddie Marlin about this backstage – not on TV. Ted Dibiase then apologizes, and says he certainly didn’t mean to cause any offense. Jarrett suggests that they take this to the dressing room to discuss matters further.

VTR: We come back to a VTR from “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert, who is wearing a neck collar and lying in a hospital bed. Eddie says that Randy Savage is nothing but a low-down creep – and he proved that last week. Gilbert reveals that doctors question if he will be able to ever wrestle again, but Eddie will have his revenge. He has made a call, struck a financial deal and ensured that a truly great mind will come to Memphis to make Randy Savage and his whole family pay for what they have done! That man is Scandor Akbar – and he is bringing Killer Khan to destroy “Macho Man” Randy Savage once and for all!
We go back to the studio as “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Miss Elizabeth and Lanny Poffo are standing with Lance Russell. Randy Savage’s shoulder is still all taped up – but he tells Lance Russell that his shoulder will heal a lot faster than Eddie Gilbert’s neck. Lance mentions the big news that Gilbert is sending the notorious manager Scandor Akbar and his charge Killer Khan to make his way to Memphis to get revenge on Savage and Poffo. The Macho Man tells Lance Russell that he will never back away from a fight, and as far as he is concerned, Killer Khan can come face to face with the Madness this Monday night at the Mid South Coliseum. Savage and Miss Elizabeth join Lance Russell at the desk as Lanny Poffo heads to the ring.
2) Lanny Poffo pinned Roy Lee Welch at 4:56 when he came off the top rope with a moon-sault to score the pin.
Lance Russell and Dave Brown mention that Southern Heavyweight Champion Dutch Mantell has the week off and is back in Oil Trough, Texas following a grueling bout with the One Man Gang last Monday. Jimmy Hart and Big Bubba Rogers make their way out now, and Hart says it sounds like Dutch Mantell is just scared because now he has to face the top challengers. And in the mind of Jimmy Hart, Big Bubba Rogers deserves a title match because he has never been defeated here in CWA! People always talk about the One Man Gang, but the true giant of CWA is Big Bubba Rogers.
It’s not very long until the massive One Man Gang makes his way out to the studio – and he clearly does not look pleased. One Man Gang wants to know just who a little pipsqueak like Jimmy Hart thinks he is by bringing up the Gang's name out here! One Man Gang says he has beat everyone in CWA and he could certainly beat up Hart’s bodyguard Big Bubba. One Man Gang grabs Hart by the jacket, but Big Bubba steps in between them and shoves the former Southern Champion. These two monsters face off now – but here comes several referees, prelim wrestlers, Ted Dibiase, Eddie Marlin and Tom Renesto to separate these two. Renesto walks over to the desk and says these two can settle things in the ring on Monday night!

Southern Tag Team Champions Sweet Sensation are out with Dave Brown. Footage is shown of the brutal attack with the ring bell on Shawn Michaels by The Wolverines last Monday night. Shawn Michaels tells Dave Brown that he is a little worse for wear, but he is not going to let a couple of punks like Dave Finlay and Mark Rocco get away with what they pulled. Stan Lane says he has seen wrestlers like The Wolverines before – they care more about injuring their opponents than actually winning matches.
Stan Lane reminds Dave Brown that he had some legendary battles with the Moondogs and The Kiwi Sheepherders in the past as a member of the Fabulous Ones. The Wolverines are in that same ilk in that they just like to fight and they will do whatever it takes to maim their opponents. However, Lane also reminds Dave that The Fabulous Ones walked away victorious from those feuds with the Moondogs and the Sheepherders – and Sweet Sensation will walk away victorious from this feud with The Wolverines.
3) Southern Tag Team Champions Sweet Sensation: Stan Lane & Shawn Michaels defeated The Interns: Intern #1 & Intern #2 at 6:11 when Stan Lane connected with the super kick on Intern #2 to score the victory.
“The Boy from New York City” by the Manhattan Transfer plays in the studio as “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant and “Wildfire” Tommy Rich make their way to the studio and shake hands with the fans around ringside. Jimmy Valiant gives several audience members some big smooches, before he shouts to Lance Russell that “those PYT punks sure did get lucky last Monday”. Valiant says he heard Koko B. Ware out here last week running himself and Tommy Rich down – and brother, himself and Wildfire as mad as hell and they are not going to take it anymore, daddy!
Tommy Rich tells Dave Brown that he is “all faaaaaared up and fixin’ for a fight” with Koko B. Ware and Norvell Austin this Monday. Those two have bent every rule and pulled every trick possible the last two weeks thanks to their manager Jimmy Hart. Tommy has not forgotten his vow to run Jimmy Hart out of Memphis and it is going to happen! First the PYT Express will be sent packing just like Rick Rude was, and then Hart himself will be all alone with Wildfire and “Handsome” Jimmy! And what happens then won’t be pretty. “Ooooooooh have MEEEEEEEERCY DADDDY,” Valiant shouts as his music once again begins playing in the studio.

Terry Taylor is out with Lance Russell as we come back from break. Taylor first says that he is disappointed with what is going on with Lawler and Dundee, but he is excited to step in to team with The King against Jake Roberts and The Masked Superstar this Monday night. Taylor says he has had his problems with the Masked Superstar since coming to CWA a few weeks ago, and he has never liked Jake Roberts. He saw long ago that Jake Roberts can never be trusted when they crossed paths in Mid-Atlantic and Mid-South Wrestling.
Lance Russell then asks Terry Taylor what he thinks about Ted Dibiase investing in CWA. Taylor admits that it seems like an odd move for Dibiase to make, since he is still in the prime of his wrestling career. Terry tells Lance that Dibiase is someone has done some nefarious things in the past, but he likes to think that Dibiase has turned over a new leaf. If Dibiase investing in CWA is good for the promotion and the fans, then he is supportive. He just hopes that Dibiase remembers that CWA really belongs to the fans – not the wrestlers or the officials.
4) Terry Taylor pinned Cactus Jack Manson at 6:45 when he came off the rope with a flying forearm smash known as the Five Arm.
Lance Russell and Dave Brown then reveal that a phone call has come into the studio from Scandor Akbar, who is requesting that he gets on the air. Lance and Dave get Akbar on the line, and the manager immediately instructs them to let him do the talking. Scandor Akbar is bringing Killer Khan to Memphis for a very specific reason. He is unleashing Khan on Memphis in order to destroy the career and life of one “Macho Man” Randy Savage.
Mr. Eddie Gilbert has paid him quite a lot of money – but the truth is that Akbar has never needed money. Scandor Akbar takes pride in the destruction that his clients cause in whatever territory they travel to. He has already conquered World Class Championship Wrestling and now it is time to take Devastation Incorporated worldwide. That starts in Memphis when his monster Killer Khan destroys “Macho Man” Randy Savage in front of all of Savage’s Memphis fans. Lance Russell goes to ask a question, but Akbar cuts him by claiming that he has nothing left to say and hangs up the phone. A befuddled Lance Russell sends us to our final commercial break.
