ROSS: Welcome to another great hour of Mid South Wrestling! Joel Watts, we have a big hour of action with two title matches!
WATTS: That’s right, Jim! Hacksaw Duggan defends the Mid South TV Title against the big Freebird, Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy and the Mid South Tag Champions, Jerry Brisco & Greg Gagne defend against Christopher Love’s colorful new team of the Love Train! Blus Hacksaw Butch Reed takes on “Nature Boy” Landel!
ROSS: I understand that Kevin Sullivan has somebody to introduce to us this week and we have a special musical look at Magnum TA set to the sounds of John Mellencamp.
WATTS: To start things out, though, we want to bring out the Tag Team Champions along with a very special guest!
ROSS: Jerry Brisco and Greg Gagne along with former NWA World Champion Jack Brisco! Great to see you, champ!
JACK: It’s a pleasure to be here, Jim!
JERRY: This is our cornerman for today’s match, Jim Ross!
GAGNE: These Love Train guys are a couple of skilled wrestlers, but anytime there’s somebody at ringside, that’s a concern! Jerry’s brother agreed to watch out for interference in this match today. I know how tough Rose & tatum are and they really don’t need to sink to outside interference, but…
JACK: Hold on just a second, Greg! You’re giving these punks a little bit too much credit! Did you see them out here last week, looking like a couple of clowns? The only way they could beat two real scientific wrestlers like a Gagne or a Brisco is to have that big, fat sissy interfere! I was talking to my friend Joe Blanchard from San Antonio the other night and he said that whatever you boys do, don’t trust Christopher Love! That’s what I’m doing here!
JERRY: Love, if you get involved, you will come nose to nose with Jack Brisco! I’d advise you to sit down in a chair and stay there!
ROSS: Well, that added something to what was already to going to be a very important match! Stay with us folks, we’ll be right back!

Kevin Sullivan is in the ring. He takes the mic from Boyd Pierce.
SULLIVAN: Last week, I paid my obeisance and supplication to Abbuda Dein and I did make sacrifice to him! And he did transform my sacrifice and what he transformed it into stands in STARK CONTRAST to what it was! From the bottomless pit in the center of Death Valley, I bring you the first of my dark warriors…the ultimate machine of destruction……HIT THE MUSCI!
As the music plays, a large man with an executioner’s hood over his head, makes his way to ringside. He enters the ring as his opponent, Paul Garner, appears to be frozen with fear! Sullivan gestures the big man into the ring, removes his hood, and reveals….
LORD HUMONGOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Garner is like a yardfull of grass under a Cub Cadet as Humongous simply is devastating! During the massacare, Sullivan makes his way to the desk and shrieks about going down to the Gulf at midnight and watching the Purple Haze rise from the waters. Joel Watts is obviously spooked and says Sullivan gives him the creeps! Ross heartily concurs! Humongous finishes Garner with the cobra clutch and then stands triumphantly over his prey with a foot on Garner’s chest!

WATTS: I have big news for the wrestling fans throughout the Mid South! On July 6, Mid South Wrestling will present the Superdome Summer Spectacular right here in New Orleans! Grizzly Smith and I am are negotiating with all of the top stars of Mid South to be a part of this tremendous card! I have also been in contact with the National Wrestling Alliance about the possibility of having a World Title match on this giant card! I am negotiating with Southwest Sports out of Dallas, Texas about bringing in some of the top stars of World Class Championship Wrestling. My contacts in Mexico are working hard to get the great Mil Mascaras on this card, too! I am planning some big matches, some unique things you have never seen before. There’s a toll free number on the screen right now! Call and get ticket information as soon as you possibly can! Grizzly Smith and I will announce more details in the weeks to come!

Ken Mantell brings his massive Zambuie Express of Elijah Akeem & Kareem Muhammad in to wrestled Ernie Ladd & Coco Samoa. Ladd & Samoa give the Express some problems, but Samoa takes the pin today after being hit by a double splash. It’s going to take a great team to defeat these two!
COMMERCIAL
Christopher Love brings his Love Train (John Tatum & Randy Rose) to the ring with the music playing. Jack Brisco leads his brother Gerald and Greg Gagne to the ring with the belts around their waist. This is a title match. Early on, the champs dominate, using their scientific skills to control the action. Despite what Jack Brisco said earlier, though, Randy Rose is a very capable wrestler and he gets the advantage on Gagne and the Love Train starts working the leg. Soon, Greg is limping around the ring and the Love Train is rolling! Greg tries to make a comeback, but when he goes for a suplex on Tatum, the leg collapses and gagne goes down with Tatum on top of him! The ref counts ONE…TWO….THREE! THE LOVE TRAIN HAS WON THE MID SOUTH TAG TITLES! Jerry Brisco just hangs his head and walks away as his brother Jack slaps the mat in frustration! Gagne has to roll out of the ring because the music has cranked back up and Love and his team are doing their dance around the ring. The Briscos walk away dejectedly, followed by Gagne! What an upset in Mid South!

Buddy Landel (w/ Missy Hyatt) takes on Hacksaw Butch Reed. Reed looks dominant as he throws Landel from pillar to post! Landel is in big trouble as he begs off and tries to get away from the awesome Hacksaw! Missy Hyatt climbs onto the apron, showing some leg and swiveling her hips, a sight that would distract any red blooded man and Butch is all man! Landel hits Reed in the back with a running knee as he is distracted by Missy! The shot from behind knocks the wind out of Reed and Landel covers him after he goes down! Landel is gonna steal one! One…Two…THREE! Landel upsets Reed! Landel hurries out of the ring! Reed is irate! He kicks the turnbuckles and yells for Landel to come back! It might be bad news for Buddy & Missy when Grizzly Smith signs a rematch!

Here comes the challenger in our TV Title match, Terry Gordy, accompanied by former TV Champ, Buddy Roberts!
ROSS: Joel, these two Freebirds have stopped by to speak with us!
ROBERTS: Doogan, stole that belt from me, but the big man is bringing it back to the Freebirds!
GORDY: I was in Japan last week and they told me that if I had a belt by time for my next tour, I’d make enough money to build a house for everybody in my family and have a car for evry day of the week!
ROSS: Well, Gordy’s star is certainly on the rise in Japan and I can’t help be concerned about Hacksaw Duggan wrestling so soon after he was deeply lacerated by Stan Hansen last week!
Gordy enters the ring with Roberts standing at ringside. Here comes Duggan, no music and no jacket or robe, just the TV Title belt around his waist and a building full of cheering fans! Gordy and Duggan lock up like a couple of rams on a mountainside. It ain’t pretty, but it’s the kind of rugged bout that Jim Ross calls best. Stan Hansen joins Jim & Joel on commentary. He points out that Duggan has a bandage oh his head from last week’s encounter. Hansen alternates between cheering Gordy(Hansen says when he or Gordy enter an arena in Japan, it’s like the Rolling Stones coming into a concert hall) and badmouthing Duggan or giving Hacksaw backhanded compliments. Gordy manages to reopen the cut and the blood begins to ooze through the bandage, spirit of ’76 style. “I don’t how much longer we’ll be able to show this, folks!” Ross yells. “Please, parents, use your best discretion when it comes to the kids in the room!” The chant starts:
DOOOOGAN!
DOOOGAN!
DOOGAN!
A bloodied Duggan grabs the ropes and starts stomping! The fans are really rocking now! Michael Hayes has joined Roberts at ringside and he’s yelling encouragement at Gordy! Here comes the Duggan comeback! Hansen comes to ringside and tosses the bullrope into Gordy! The ref DQs Bamm Bamm! Gordy swigs the rope at Duggan! Hacksaw ducks! ATOMIC DROP BY DUGGAN! Hayes and Roberts were trying to come in, but they collide with Gordy and the Freebirds go down in a heap! Butch Reed runs in and stands by Duggan! The Freebirds and Hansen evidently have some other place to be right now! Jim Ross is about to blow a gasket!

JOEL WATTS: Ladies and gentlemen, if one wrestler can represent the hopes and dreams of the young people in the heartland of this country, it might be Magnum TA! If one musician can do that same thing, it might be John Cougar Mellencamp. We recently went along with Magnum for a ride throughout the Mid South region and set it to the song, “Pink Houses”.
VTR:
The video begins with Magnum getting on his Harley, revving the engine, and then taking off. Magnum passes a Corvette with a pretty blonde driving as well as a pickup truck full of pretty country girls. Magnum stops at a dilapidated gas station, pumps gas, shakes hands with a few old timers and signs autographs for a few kids. Magnum is shown at a nursing home, visiting with some elderly folks. Magnum is shown at a VFW hall, helping a few veterans raise the flag. The recent incident where magnum gave Michael Hayes the belly to belly suplex on the floor iN Tulsa is shown in slow motion. TA stops his bike at a roadside dairy bar and buys ice cream cones for some young kids and some pretty young ladies who are there with them. Magnum high fives the kids, kisses the ladies, hops on his bike, and rides away….
ROSS: We hope you enjoyed that look at Magnum TA . Next week, Kevin Sullivan says he will have another surprise for us. I’m not sure if we can stand another one! There will be a rematch for the TV Title as hacksaw Duggan defends against the man he won the title from, Buddy Roberts! The New Tag Team Champions, the Love Train will wrestle a team of great veterans, Tony Garea & Nelson Royal. Greg Gagne will be here in a single match after several weeks in tag team wrestling. Cowboy Bill Watts will be here with me next week for n action packed hour!
