1) ”Handsome” Jimmy Valiant pinned Norvell Austin (w/ Jimmy Hart & Big Bubba Rogers) at 8:11 with the big elbow drop. Valiant challenged Big Bubba to take him on after the match, but Hart led the anxious Bubba away.
2) Terry Taylor wrestled The Masked Superstar to a 15:00 time limit draw.
3) Koko B. Ware (w/ Jimmy Hart & Big Bubba Rogers) pinned ”Wildfire” Tommy Rich at 18:45 when he came off the top rope with a missile dropkick. Rich had ended up brawling with Big Bubba in the middle of the match, which took its toll as Koko B. Ware tied up the referee Paul Neighbors. Tommy rebounded, but ultimately fell to the flying dropkick.
4) Southern Tag Team Champions Sweet Sensation: Stan Lane & Shawn Michaels defeated The Wolverines: Dave “Fit” Finlay & Mark Rocco by disqualification at 13:34 when Dave Finlay grabbed the ring bell and drilled Shawn Michaels with it in full view of referee Jerry Calhoun. This was a heck of a contest, until Finlay blatantly broke the rules. Stan Lane charged in, but Rocco clipped his leg and held him as Finlay brought that ring bell down on Michaels’ sternum! Eddie Marlin, Ted Dibiase, Jerry Jarrett and others were immediately to prevent The Wolverines from doing more damage! These two are sadistic!
INTERMISSION
5) ”Macho Man” Randy Savage & Lanny Poffo (w/ Miss Elizabeth) defeated ”Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert & Rick Steiner at 23:12 when Savage pinned Eddie Gilbert in a match where there were No Holds Barred. This was a wild brawl that went into the crowd and all around the ringside area. Savage was like a wounded animal and was particularly vicious. The finish saw Lanny Poffo take out Rick Steiner with a moon-sault from the apron down to Steiner on the floor. Meanwhile, Savage pulls Eddie Gilbert onto Lance Russell’s table. He manages to gather the strength to lift Eddie up and pile-drive him through the table!! That is exactly what Savage did to Ricky Morton back in ’84! Poffo roll the unconscious Gilbert into the ring as Savage hobbles in and covers Eddie for the academic three count! Savage and Poffo than lead the crowd in chanting “Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey Goodbye” as Eddie Gilbert is stretchered out of the Mid South Coliseum – possibly for the very last time!
6) In a match where Bill Dundee was the guest referee, Jerry “The King” Lawler pinned Jake “The Snake” Roberts at 14:57 when The King connected with a flying fist drop and Dundee counted three. Dundee did call things down the middle, but got into arguments with The King throughout the match. The finish saw Lawler escape a DDT, pull the strap down, connect with some brutal rights and lefts and finish Roberts off as Dundee did count three. Dundee rolled out of the ring and grabbed his CWA title, but Lawler called him back into the ring. Lawler appeared to be trying to make up with Dundee, who listened incredulously and then drilled The King with his title belt! Dundee was screaming at the prone Lawler, when all of a sudden he was spun around, booted and dropped with a DDT from Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Jake was all smiles despite his loss – clearly pleased with the discord that he is causing between Lawler and Dundee.
7) Southern Heavyweight Champion Dutch Mantell pinned One Man Gang at 17:35 in a match where Shoo Baby was hung on a pole. The Masked Superstar again tried to get involved, but Terry Taylor was once again out to run him off from ringside. The amazing finish saw One Man Gang attempt to climb the pole to get Shoo Baby, but his massive weight caused the aluminium pole to bend forward, causing One Man Gang to crotch himself on the top rope! Dutch Mantell simply had to reach up slightly to grab Shoo Baby, as he shoved One Man Gang back down to the ring. One Man Gang rose slowly, only to be mercilessly whipped by Shoo Baby! The Dutchman then drilled One Man Gang right in the face with Shoo Baby’s handle and hooked him into a spinning neck-breaker for the 1-2-3! The Dutchman retains the Southern Heavyweight Title in his first defense.
