THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:
“Nature Boy” Ric Flair and “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin continue their war of words, as they also continue to battle to time limit draws all over the territory, Garvin continues to push Flair’s buttons and vows to keep coming after the “Nature Boy” until he becomes the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Flair for his part has not backed down from Garvin’s challenge, facing him time and time again. Flair has also found himself across the ring on several occasions against “The Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff, but all those matches have ended in double disqualifications.
THE UNTIED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:
“The Ragin Bull” Manny Fernandez and “The Macho Man” Randy Savage spilled each other’s blood all over the area, arena after arena saw vicious battles between the two men as things continued to escalate to the point that Savage challenged the Bull to a Loser Leaves Town match Stretcher Match, The Bull agreed and after a total and all-out war, Savage attempted to piledrive The Bull through a table only to see the Bull backdrop Savage and then piledrive the Macho Man himself through the table, Savage was wheeled out of the building and out of the area on a stretcher.
THE WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP:
The Koloffs’ reign of terror continues as they keep steamrolling their way through the competition, “Dirty” Dick Slater and “The Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant stepped up to the plate to challenge The Koloffs and after several battles the Koloffs not only turned back their challenge but also injured the Boogie Woogie Man along the way. Ivan continues to belittle their flag bearer and his former partner Don Kerndole who continues to take the abuse. The National Tag Team Champions, Ole Anderson and Thunderbolt Patterson are returning to the area and have challenged the Koloffs to a series of matches, which the Koloffs have accepted. Ole and Thunderbolt have defended their National Tag Titles several times on television, while Ole has appeared in interviews questioning why Don Kernodle, a man he and his brother Gene trained to be a professional wrestler, would stand around and take the abuse from Ivan. Ole and Thunderbolt have both vowed to take the Russians out, while Ivan claims that Nikita will break yet another of the American People’s heroes, as he has done time and time again.
THE TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP:
Tully Blanchard still holds the TV Title, though both Hector Guerrero and “Dirty” Dick Slater have been hot on his heels, Slater continually calls Wahoo McDaniel Tully’s guard dog, going so far as to bring out a dog collar with Wahoo’s name on the tag, something that Wahoo doesn’t appreciate at all. Tully seems to pay no mind to the fact that Wahoo is bristling every time he is called a dog by Slater, and even though Wahoo claims that he and Tully’s partnership is as equals, Tully continually expects Wahoo to bail him out of jams.
WHY, JAY, WHY?
After leaving Ricky Steamboat to get destroyed by The Koloffs, Jay Youngblood appeared on TV and explained his actions saying that he didn’t turn on Ricky Steamboat, Ricky Steamboat turned on him a year ago when his selfish actions cost Jay the World Tag Team Titles. Jay blamed Ricky for every bad thing that has happened to him and his brother in the last year, and for the reign of terror by the Koloffs. Jay’s brother Mark appeared on TV and tried to talk his brother down, tried to get his brother to realize he had made a mistake, but Jay wouldn’t listen and attacked his brother viciously. This lead to a match between the two where Jay used the Indian Death Lock to tear the ligaments in Mark’s already injured knee, sending him to the hospital and ultimately surgery. Ricky Steamboat is still out nursing the injuries he sustained from the Koloffs, and hasn’t responded to request for an interview, but one person who has made his views on the subject perfectly clear is “The Ragin Bull” Manny Fernandez, The Bull is none too happy with his former friend, and was in Mark’s corner for his match with Jay. Manny and Jay traded punches after the match with Manny saying he wants Jay in the ring and promising to put his US Title on the line to try and get Jay to fight him.
ODDS AND ENDS:
“Avalanche” Buzz Tyler has debuted in the area, the former Central States Champion has been racking up prelim wins since his debut. Tyler has been slowly working his way into TV Title contention, and has stated several times he would like to face Tully Blanchard. Also debuting was the MOD Squad, these bikers have beaten most teams put in their way and have shown very little regard for the rules. The Italian Stallion has slowly been rising up the ranks, finding himself in a mini feud with “Depserado” Joel Deaton, the two men have been trading wins all over the territory. “Pistol” Pez Whatley has come to the area, after his first match he declared that his name was not Pez any longer but Shaska, and he was here in Jim Crockett promotions to whip every hillbilly he could find, Shaska has been making threats toward “The Ragin Bull” Manny Fernandez saying he wants a shot at the US Title. Johnny Weaver has taken "Quick Draw" Rick McGraw under his wing and the two have racked up several wins, including winning a small feud with Thunderfoot and The Shadow that saw them unmask the Shadow on TBS as Weaver's long time nemesis Swede Hanson. Another masked man, Lazertron, has found his way into the area, challenging NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Tiger Mask to several matches. Lazertron has taken Tiger Mask to the limit several times, and is hoping to face the Man from The Rising Sun again, and take the World Junior Heavyweight Title.
World Championship Wrestling on TBS will air at 6:05 on Saturday May 24 with The MOD Squad vs. Rick McGraw and Johnny Weaver, Jay Youngblood will be in action, National Tag Team Champion Ole Anderson will face World Tag Team Champion Ivan Koloff in singles competition, plus Tully Blanchard will put the Television Title on the line against Hector Guerrero!!!
