-We go now to Channel 5 Studios here in Memphis to Lance Russell and Dave Brown-
Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to “Championship Wrestling ‘85”. The announcers take about the first encounter between Jake Roberts and The King last Monday, which ended when The King used the illegal pile-driver. Eddie Marlin makes his way out now and says as much he’d like to see Jerry Lawler run off Jake Roberts, The King can’t go around violating the rules. There’s an edict that anyone using that pile-driver will be fined $500, so he has no choice but to enforce that rule. Jerry Lawler makes his way out to the studio and he hands Eddie Marlin $500 in cash. The King tells Eddie Marlin that he has respect for him, but all bets are off when The Snake and The King get into the ring together. Marlin understands that and he is working to sign a match where anything goes – but that match will not be this Monday night.
Marlin says Lawler didn’t quite let him finish. There’s also a rule on the books that was enacted in the NWA by-laws in January 1985 that says anyone using that illegal pile-driver has to be suspended for a length of time determined by the promoter, so much as he hates to do it, The King will not be in action this Monday night! The fans boo loudly. He will have to serve a one week suspension from in-ring action. Lawler doesn’t like that one bit, but Marlin says his hands are tied. However, once that week is up, Eddie is hopeful that he will be able to announce a rematch where these kinds of restrictions won’t come into play. Marlin excuses himself, as Lawler tells Lance Russell that Roberts likely knew about this and baited him. The King let his temper get the best of him, but that won’t happen next time. Lawler then tells Lance that he better go off now and start serving his ridiculous suspension.
1) Bill Dundee pinned Freezer Thompson at 4:13 when he came off the second rope with the Bomb’s Away knee drop.
Bill Dundee makes his way over to the desk, and talks about his tag team match last Monday dissolving into a brawl with his own partner Adrian Street. Dundee thought Street was smart enough to put aside their differences aside for one night at least, so they could get even with a common enemy. However, Street proved why he is an island unto himself these days. Miss Linda makes her way out now and gets right into Dundee’s face. Miss Linda is shouting abuse at Dundee, and the Superstar is just nodding his head in disgust.
Adrian Street then comes from the other side of the studio behind Dundee’s back and bashes the Superstar across the back with a double axe-handle. Street and Miss Linda are now stomping on Dundee. Adrian grabs Dundee and runs him head-first into the steel post, but soon several wrestlers are out to run off Street and Miss Linda. A bloody Dundee is helped up, and he shouts that he is going to break Street in half as he is helped to the dressing room as we go to our first commercial break.

Lance Russell and Dave Brown then send us to a special VTR from Dutch Mantell, who was injured two weeks ago by Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang. We go to the Dutchman, who is sitting in front of a fireplace. Mantell says that he has to give One Man Gang some credit – the big man is as tough as he is vicious. Dutch says his shoulder is making some progress, but he is still a few weeks away from getting back into the ring. However, he is owed a title rematch. Since Dutch isn’t quite ready yet to get back in the ring, the CWA has allowed him to select a replacement opponent. And that replacement is the man sitting next to him now. The camera pans to reveal…

AUSTIN IDOL!!!!
The Universal Heartthrob says he’s heard far and wide about how big and nasty this One Man Gang is. Now when he heard that the Gang injured his friend The Dutchman, he knew he had to step up and put this big palooka down for the count! Now, it’s been a while but he is sure that Idolmania is running wild in Memphis just as strong as it ever was. So Austin Idol is coming back this Monday night, and he is coming for the Southern Heavyweight Title belt! He’s going to win that belt back for the people and then as soon as Dutch Mantell is cleared to wrestle, he will give The Dutchman the title match he deserves! Mantell and Idol shake hands as we go back to the studio, where the fans, Lance Russell and Dave Brown are marveling over the return of Austin Idol to CWA!
2) Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang (w/ The Masked Superstar) pinned Charlie Cook at 6:48 when he connected with the 747 after a somewhat competitive bout.
CWA Heavyweight Champion Jake “The Snake” Roberts joins Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang and The Masked Superstar at the desk with Dave Brown. Roberts says Lawler can grandstand all he wants, but The Snake is in his head and that is what will prevent The King from getting his revenge. Jake tells Lawler to enjoy his unpaid vacation, and then asks exactly why he has been signed to defend against Billy Joe Travis this Monday night? Dave Brown mentions Billy’s recent winning streak, but Roberts says that wins over Mike George and Kendell Windham don’t count as a streak. Roberts admits that Billy Joe Travis has a lot of promise, but it’s not his time yet and The Snake will prove that this Monday night.
One Man Gang then asks Dave Brown if he is supposed to be scared of Austin Idol coming back? The Masked Superstar pipes in and says that the big story here is that Dutch Mantell needs people to fight his battles for him. As far as One Man Gang is concerned, CWA can put Austin Idol against him. CWA can put Jerry Lawler up against him. CWA can put Bill Dundee up against. But One Man Gang will keep his gold, just like has done for the last four months. Jake Roberts ends the interview by saying that this Monday night, Lawler can look on when Billy Joe Travis and Austin Idol get massacred.

‘The Boy From New York City’ is playing in the studio as we come back from break, as “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant and Tommy Rich make their way out. Valiant is shucking and jiving, and plants big ol' kiss on Lance Russell! Lance just shakes his head and says there’s only one Jimmy Valiant! Valiant shouts “HAVE MEEEEEEERCY BABY” and asks Mempho how they like having Handsome Jimmy back in town? Tommy Rich pipes in to say that he knew made the right call when he phoned up The Boy from New York City and asked him to come back to Memphis. Because Jimmy Valiant is always faaaaarrrrred up, and even more so now that he has the chance the get his hands on Jimmy Hart.
The excitable Valiant calls Jimmy Hart “the weasel” and talks about how his daddy used to be an exterminator. Jimmy hs never seen a rat as greasy and disgusting as Jimmy Hart – it’s high time he gets exterminated, daddy! Lance Russell mentions that this Monday, Rich gets his singles rematch with Rick Rude, while Jimmy Valiant has to face the massive Big Bubba Rogers. Wildfire says Rude stole a win over him a few weeks ago, but now he’s got somebody to watch his back. Valiant then tells “Big Bad Bubba” that the rookie should be ready down to get down and dirty this Monday night.
3) ”Handsome” Jimmy Valiant and ”Wildfire” Tommy Rich defeated The Interns: I & II at 5:04 when Valiant came off the ropes with the big elbow on Intern II.
The Nightmares are out after the match to speak with Lance Russell and Dave Brown. Lance shows footage of Eddie Gilbert hooking the tights to defeat them last Monday night. Danny Davis says that Eddie Gilbert is known for cutting every corner possible, so he expects nothing better from Eddie. A rematch has been signed for this Monday – but it is a non-title bout. However, if the Nightmares win, they will be given a title match the following week. Davis and Wayne are training a little extra hard and they will have eyes in the back of their head this week. Ken Wayne also reminds Lance Russell that himself and Danny Davis are capable of a few tricks themselves.

Travis says the fans have been behind him thus far, so he hopes that they stick with him while he stands in for The King. Travis tells Lance that he is on a roll, and he thinks he has what it takes to score a win over The Snake. He knows it won’t be easy, but Billy Joe Travis will give everything he’s got in im to take the championship gold this Monday night.
4) Billy Joe Travis pinned Tommy Gilbert at 8:45 when he came off the ropes with a flying forearm smash to score a major victory heading into Monday’s title match.
The Bruise Brothers are out after the main event to complain about having to face Sweet Sensation again. Dave says that Graham is offering a very creative but not factual representation of events. Graham tells Dave Brown to pipe down, and then shouts that he is sick and tired of having to put up with the pretty boys. After they win this Monday, this feud is over!
