Wild West Wrestling
Friday, March 14, 1985
The Fairgrounds Arena, Carson City, NV
*non-televised house show
1)'Cowboy' Scott Casey pinned Scott McGhee at 11:27 following a running bulldog headlock. McGhee put up a strong challenge to the newcomer Casey and the two men had a technical back-and-forth contest, but Casey was able to come out of top in the end.
2)'The Breakdancers' - Brickhouse Brown & 'Stylin' Mark Ragin defeated Keith Eric & Billy Anderson at 7:55 when Brown pinned Eric following a double drop kick by 'the Dancers'. Brown & Ragin celebrated their victory by getting out their boom boxes and doing a break dance routine after the match.
3)Jacques Rougeau pinned 'Wildman' Jack Armstrong at 12:01 following a missile dropkick from the second rope. Jacques used speed and technique to out maneuver his larger and more erratic foe in this contest.
INTERMISSION
4)'Magnum Force' – Dave Peterson & Scott Hall defeated Duke Myers & Rene Goulet at 16:12 when Peterson pinned Goulet with a small package. Peterson had originally gotten Goulet in the package, but Myers entered the ring, grabbed Dave's foot and reversed things so Rene was on top for the pin. As the referee was ushering Myers from the ring, Hall entered the ring and flipped Peterson back on top so that his team could gain the victory. Duke was none-the-wiser until it was too late as he was celebrating victory for his team with his back to the action until it was announced that Magnum Force had won.
5)Davey Boy Smith defeated Jos LeDuc by disqualification at 10:14. LeDuc had originally won the contest on a referee stoppage when Smith accidentally crotched himself attempting a leap frog and could not continue, but LeDuc did not follow the referee's instructions and instead attacked the injured Smith after the bell so the referee reversed his decision.
6)Harley Race pinned Bret Hart at 24:10 when Race stepped out of the way as Hart 'went for it all' with a running suicide dive through the ropes, causing Bret to 'crash and burn' outside the ring. It took every ounce of strength that Hart had to beat the referee's count back into the ring, but from there he was easy prey for Harley, who put his opponent away with a fisherman's suplex and a roll of the shoulder.
PROGRAMMING NOTE:
*A studio television show hosted by Kevin Wall, Les Thatcher & Tux Newman entitled 'Wild West Wrestling' begins airing in local markets throughout the Southwest. These early episodes feature taped footage from the previous month worth of house shows that mainly focus around the two top feuds of Race/LeDuc and Hart/Smith, localized promos and footage of some of the previously established talent now appearing in the area like Billy Anderson and Jack Armstrong. A lot of the younger talent is not played up at this point except for 'Magnum Force', which is introduced via some 'beefcake' music videos. The main focus of these shows appears to be to promote a tournament for the vacant 'Wild West Heavyweight Title' for when WWW returns to the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas in April.
