Continental Wrestling Association Monday, February 24, 1985 Mid-South Coliseum, Memphis, TN 1) The Nitemares: Ken Wayne & Danny Davis defeated The Good Ole Boys: Phil Hickerson & Tommy Gilbert at 8:11 when Danny Davis used a roll-up to score a shock win with a small package on Tommy Gilbert. 2) Dutch Mantell pinned The Dirty White Boy in a taped fist match at 11:55 when Mantell stole a roll of quarters from Tony Anthony behind the referee’s back and laid out his opponent to score the pin. 3) ”Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert (w/ Jimmy Hart & Big Bubba Rogers) & The Bruise Brothers: Dream Machine & Porkchop Cash defeated The Mongolian Stomper, Stomper Jr. & Billy Travis at 10:24 when Eddie Gilbert pinned Stomper Jr. with the Hot Shot. 4) Sweet Sensation: Stan Lane & Shawn Michaels defeated The Moondogs: King & Spot (w/ Jimmy Hart) in a Street Fight at 14:01 when Stan Lane drilled Moondog Spot with a steel chair to score the pin in a bloody match. INTERMISSION 5) The Rock n’ Roll Express: Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson defeated Southern Tag Team Champions The First Family: Rick Rude & Adrian Adonis (w/ Jimmy Hart & Big Bubba Rogers) at 19:34 when Morton and Gibson connected with the double drop-kick on Adonis to score the win. The finish saw Adrian further tweak his knee coming off the ropes, to the point where he couldn’t even stand all the way back up. Morton and Gibson seized the opportunity and connected with their signature move to regain the titles. *Rick Rude, Big Bubba Rogers and Jimmy Hart tended to Adrian Adonis after the match, but Adonis had injured his leg so badly that he could not stand back up. Finally, Hart was annoyed enough that he ordered the First Family to just abandon Adrian in the ring! 6) CWA Heavyweight Champion Jake “The Snake” Roberts (w/ Adrian Street & Miss Linda) defeated Bill “Superstar” Dundee (w/ Jerry “The King” Lawler) by disqualification at 15:45 when Jerry “The King” Lawler hit the ring and began brawling with Roberts. The King had seen enough of Street and Miss Linda trying to interfere and finally entered the ring. Lawler and The Snake brawled all the way back to the dressing room. 7) Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang defeated Tommy “Wildfire” Rich at 13:02 when One Man Gang connected with a power-slam. Rich proved to be the biggest challenge to the Gang during his run as Southern Heavyweight Champion. Wildfire had the champion on the run and went for the Lou Thesz Press, but One Man Gang caught him and then avalanched him into the corner. One Man Gang held, shifted position and then drilled Rich with a running power-slam to score the win.

What a night of action. When Dutch and DWB are in a taped first match and 2nd on the card you know you are getting your money's worth. The Sensations and Nitemares both pick up victories tonight so your babyface tag teams are as strong as possible heading into next tv. I shed a tear for the First Family, Rude and Adonis will go down with Ultra Violent as one of the best fantasy teams ever created, IMO, what a performance here from Adonis. The Devil's Triangle are as dominant as ever and the DDT is over as any move in wrestling.
Peace Jeff

Somehow I missed this show. OMG vs. Wildfire is a unique and interesting matchup. I don't know who can beat the Gang, maybe the King, but I wouldn't bet on it. Very good action.

Dutch beats The Dirty White Boy and yeah, second match on the card? Speaks to there being no shortage of action. If that was the end of that feud, great work.
1 of your strengths seems to be a top to bottom card with backing stories that make each match feel like it means something. Even the opener had some play on TV for The Nitemares so that it is more than just a win, and actually a meaningful win. Shawn Michaels in 1985 in a 14 minute street fight against The Moondogs with a description of bloody would be something to see. You know The Dogs are not doing much selling for this scrawny kid in a brawl, but it is also the type of performance that can earn somebody some locker room respect by being able to go out and hang in that match. That, or they just throw them in there with Stomper & Stomper Jr to watch Gouldie take it to Shawn for kicks lol.
I figured the Rock N Roll Express would get the belts back, maybe not this quick as you played up The Nitemares leaving Jimmy Hart on TV so figured maybe you were going there. The post match, glad that they left Adonis rather than attacked him. Still gets heat, but does not necessarily setup an immediate feud with Adonis vs Rude or something. Allows Adonis to get some respect, but stay heel in the process, or turn face as the option is there. At least assuming that is the idea since most writers going to an immediate feud would have just had them attack Adonis. I like the prospect of Rude going to singles as there are a lot of names here he can work with to elevate himself in the card.
Lawler and Roberts is going to be big come next Monday in the tag team match.
Agree with all the above. One Man Gang is an absolute monster right now. This is 1 of those classic big man pushes that we always got in the 80s, and done well. Gang can work, he can move, he has a unique look, and like tlyne, I just don't know who can beat him that is here right now. Lawler seems like the best bet. Makes for a far better monster heel match for Lawler than some of the real life stuff though if that is the eventual goal.

Was hoping for more from Hickerson and Gilbert. Don't try to much cheating with Mantell. Sweet Sensation show they can do it all. Can't wait to see how Adonis reacts to having been left. Will Dundee be upset at the interference of The King? OMG is just beating everbody clean. Can nobody stop him?
