VINCE MCMAHON and JESSE “THE BODY” VENTURA are ringside to open the show, and they welcome us to another edition of WWF CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING!
VINCE and JESSE run down what we’ll see on today’s show, including the feature match of former WWF Champ Hulk Hogan facing Brutus Beefcake.
Plus, WWF IC Champion Tito Santana and Don Muraco will both be in singles action. We’ll see a new tag team on the scene, the Can-Am Express, in tag team action, and Big John Studd will team up with the Spoiler for a tag team match. Cyndi Lauper and Wendi Richter will be the guests on “Piper’s Pit”, and we’ll see footage of Hulk Hogan training for the biggest match of his career to date, his WWF title match with Ted Dibiase at WrestleMania on March 31!
WWF IC Champion TITO SANTANA defeats “PLAYBOY” RIP ROGERS. Rogers, formerly one-half of the Ravishing Bodies tag team here in the WWF, gives Santana a tough match, but in the end, Tito gets the win by submission with the Figure-4 leglock at 3:40.
DON MURACO (w/ Mr. Fuji) defeats JIM WILSON. Muraco spends more time jawing with ringside fans that are calling him “beach bum”, than he does wrestling Wilson. Wilson uses this to his advantage, and gets in some offence, but Muraco quickly turns the tables, and drops Wilson on his head with a Tombstone piledriver at 2:34.
MEAN GENE OKERLUND is backstage in the interview area, joined by JOHNNY V, BRUTUS BEEFCAKE, BIG JOHN STUDD and THE SPOILER.
VTR: The final moments of the Tito Santana vs Spoiler match on last week’s show, where the Spoiler attacked Santana after the match.
JOHNNY V welcomes the Spoiler to his Army, and gloats about what the masked man did to Santana last week, and says it’s only a matter of time before the Spoiler is wearing the IC title belt! He then talks about Studd and the Spoiler teaming up next week, and says that these two men together will form the most dominating force this sport has ever seen!
STUDD says that he’s the only true giant of professional wrestling, and says that he and the Spoiler will squash anyone they step into the ring with!
BEEFCAKE says that, so far, he’s been overlooked by the matchmakers here in the WWF, but they won’t be able to ignore his obvious greatness for long. It’s only a matter of time before everyone wakes up and takes notice of Brutus Beefcake. Brutus then issues a challenge to anyone in the WWF that wants to face him in the ring.
VINCE and JESSE talk about the special edition of “Piper’s Pit” on last week’s show, where Roddy Piper was on the set of the TV show “the A-Team” and got into a confrontation with Mr. T, one of the stars of the show, and a close personal friend of Hulk Hogan.
VTR: Piper getting into a heated confrontation with Mr. T on the set of “the A-Team”
VINCE says that Mean Gene Okerlund caught up with Mr. T following the incident, and T had some words for Mr. Piper.
MEAN GENE OKERLUND is standing in front of the WWF banner, along with MR. T.
T talks about the confrontation with Piper on last week’s show, and says that Piper’s got a big mouth, but T will be happy to shut it for him the next time that Piper gets in his face.
THE CAN-AM EXPRESS (Tom Zenk & Dan Kroffat) beat ALAN DENNISON & JOHNNY RODZ. Rodz gets in some offence for his team, but the young Can-Am Express are able to pick up the win over their more experienced opponents when Zenk pins Dennison with a sunset flip at 4:16.
VIGNETTE: Uncle Elmer, Cousin Luke and Cousin Junior are sitting on a porch, drinking moonshine. Elmer says that they’re on their way to the WWF, and they’re going to show everyone what these good ol’ country boys can do!
We go to the set of “PIPER’S PIT” with ROWDY RODDY PIPER. Piper introduces his guests this week, the #1 contender to the World Women’s title WENDI RICHTER and her pal CYNDI LAUPER.
PIPER asks Richter about her match coming up at WrestleMania against Leilani Kai, but before Richter can say anything, Piper pulls the mic away from her, and starts talking about how WrestleMania will be a complete and utter failure unless he’s on the show.
LAUPER tries to say something, but Piper cuts her off, and then starts insulting both Lauper and Richter, making sexist remarks, and saying that women don’t belong in the ring, or in the entertainment world, they should be at home, cooking dinner for their men!
LAUPER grabs the mic from Piper, and tells him off, saying that he’s a pig!
PIPER grabs the mic back, and says that this is his show, and he’s not going to let a couple of broads talk to him like that!
At that point, Richter hauls off and slaps the taste out of Piper’s mouth, then she and Lauper storm off the set, leaving Piper fuming.
PIPER goes on a rant, making several more sexist comments, before his mic is cut off, and we go back to Ventura and McMahon at ringside.
We see footage of HULK HOGAN, working out at a gym, along with his friends Mr. T and Sylvester Stallone. The video is set to Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger”, and at the end, Hogan cuts a promo on Ted Dibiase, saying that he’s in the best shape of his life, and at WrestleMania on March 31, he’s going to regain the WWF title!
BIG JOHN STUDD & THE SPOILER (w/ Johnny V) beat LOUIS LAURENCE & JOE CAGLE. Studd and the Spoiler dominate the match, and make short work of their opponents. Studd lifts Cagle into a Backbreaker, at the same time the Spoiler applies the Clawhold to Laurence. Both quickly submit, giving Studd and Spoiler the win at 1:40.
MEAN GENE OKERLUND is backstage in the interview area, where he’s joined by WWF World Heavyweight Champion TED DIBIASE.
DIBIASE talks about WrestleMania. He says that he saw the video of Hogan working out with Mr. T and Sly Stallone, and thinks that Hogan’s more worried about Hollywood, and hanging out with his celebrity friends, than he is about their match at WrestleMania, and that’s going to be Hogan’s undoing. He says that he’s the WWF Champion, that means he’s the #1 wrestler in the world today, and says that if Hogan’s focus isn’t 100% on Dibiase and their match, Hogan doesn’t stand a chance!
After Dibiase walks off, WWF Intercontinental Champion TITO SANTANA walks into the shot, and joins Mean Gene.
TITO says that he knows Hulk Hogan, and he knows that Hogan will be 100% ready and focused come WrestleMania.
SANTANA then talks about the Spoiler, and what the masked man did to him last week. Tito then challenges the Spoiler to face him at WrestleMania!
After Tito leaves the set, Mean Gene says that next week, he’ll host the first WrestleMania update segment, and he’ll announce all the matches that have been signed so far for this mega event.
HULK HOGAN defeats BRUTUS BEEFCAKE (w/ Johnny V). Johnny V gets involved several times during the match, giving Brutus the opportunity to gain the upper hand, but in the end, Hogan whips Brutus into the ropes, hits the big boot, then drops the Legdrop for the pinfall victory at 8:10.
VINCE and JESSE talk about the match we just saw, with Vince saying that Hogan looks ready to him. Vince and Jesse then hype next week’s show, which will see Ivan Putski and Dino Bravo as a tag team. The Honkytonk Man will make his WWF debut. WWF Tag Team Champions the Islanders will be in action. The feature match will see Rocky “Soulman” Johnson return to the WWF, to team with Tito Santana against the Spoiler and Big John Studd.
Plus, Hulk Hogan will be the guest on Piper’s Pit!
