CONTINENTAL SPORTS, INC. PRESENTS:
Sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance
Southeastern United States Representative for the NWA: the Honorable Lou Thesz
Taped 1/29/85 at the Houston County Farm Center in beautiful Dothan, AL
Airs in syndication throughout Alabama and Mississippi
Referees: Ron West, Mac Murray, and Bobby Simmons
Ring Announcer: Freddie Miller
And your hosts: Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart
Platt and Stewart try to kick off the show but, KASHMERE by LED ZEPPELIN hits and out struts…
And the Tennessee Stud is oh so very happy. "Ya see, that decrepit and corrupt Lou Thesz thought he was going to get his hands on the Stud’s hard earned money, but no siree, ya see, Ron Fuller’s money works for Ron Fuller, not the other way around. All it took was the scent of a little green, and Idol, Prichard, and Jannetty would sign away their souls, hahaha."
Double A agrees, “them training-bra collectors all these little teenie boppers scream their heads off for have gotten themselves into some big trouble. Ya see they got their hands on those Southeastern straps, the big paydays, or to continue my metaphor for you simple minded folk like Rick Stewart, Idol and the so-called Rebels got their hands on a real woman. And that woman has been treating ‘em real good, but now big Daddy is on his way back home, and the young pups can’t sneak out the back door fast enough.”
Now everybody wants to know just what kind of match will Jimmy Golden decide to take the Southeastern Heavyweight Title from Austin Idol in? No tricks, no shenanigans, let’s see who the better man is Austin Idol. If you get yourself disqualified or counted-out of the ring, “cause we all know he ain’t above runnin’ from a fight,” then Jimmy Golden gets crowned Champeen! This Saturday night in Birmingham has been a long time coming, and the Stud Stable will leave Boutwell Auditorium with all the gold!
Match 1

One half of The Legionnaires, the New Zealand Militant, Jacko Victory goes this one without the services of his partner, the South African Assassin Boomer Lynch as he takes on former amateur wrestling standout the Italian Stallion. The Stallion has some success in the early going, but the rough-house, bullying style of Victory overpowers the grappler and Jacko finishes him off with a bombs away knee drop from the second rope.

Match 2
Ref: Mac Murray
The Lightning Express, Tim Horner and Brad Armstrong, make a successful return to television taking out the crafty duo of Roy Lee Welch and Hacksaw Higgins with some fine tandem offense and classic tag team strategy as Horner picked up the pinfall on the big Hacksaw after a dropkick from the top rope.
After the contest the LX joins Platt and Stewart at the podium and talk about how great it was it relax a little bit after their months of feuding with Nitemares, resulting in the brutal Double Dog Collar match on Christmas Night and Timmy’s broken nose, but they can see that there isn’t any rest for weary here in Southeastern, the hotbed for tag team wrestling. The Rebels have become good buddies of theirs, and are great champions, but Tim and Brad would love to get a crack at them, they think it would be a great match-up for the fans. Brad especially will never forget what Arn Anderson did to his brother and his dad so he hopes Doc and Marty leave a little piece of the so-called Perfection Connection when they get finished with them.
Platt then asks about their big match with these Malenko Brothers this Saturday night in Birmingham and Timmy says they’re real tough and fine wrestler’s but he and Brad are ready to take on the best that the NWA has to offer and they are ready to take on anyone in order to get their hands on those Southeastern Tag Team straps!
Match 3
Ref: Bobby Simmons
The Tonga Kid continued his recent winning streak and momentum building path as he took on former United States Junior Heavyweight Champion, Ted Allen in a hotly contested encounter. Allen showed some of the skill that made him a former champion, but TK was able to withstand the onslaught and catch him out of nowhere with his now patented Savage Savate front legged, round house kick.

We return from break and Tonga Kid has been joined by his buddies Scott Armstrong and the Rich Cousins. Johnny and Scott once again talk about how great it is to have Davey in Southeastern, riding the roads with them and that now they are a complete unit. They talk about their big six-man tag bout coming up in Birmingham against Mr. Wrestling III, the Flame, and Crimson Tide and how they’ve been training especially hard on their six-man strategy and they’re confident they’ll come out victorious. Oh and that TK will be ready for his Alabama Title match against Porkchop Cash or Checkmate.

Platt and Stewart recap the recent path of destruction laid by Professor Malenko’s Soviet Sambo Black Belt grappling machine sons Josef and Dean and his final solution, Checkmate. Since their debut here they’ve left a trail of injured wrestlers, not only taking out the JYD Norvell Austin and severely injuring the Alabama Heavyweight Champion, but making one of the toughest men in wrestling, Porkchop Cash submit not once, but twice! Because of his refusal to see a doctor and Checkmate’s two victories, Bobby Cash is not 100% heading into this big title match. And if he survives, how can he get past the Tonga Kid in Birmingham?

For the Alabama Heavyweight Championship
The defending champion has his right knee heavily bandaged, obvious even through his tights, and like a programmed machine, Checkmate goes after it early, and often. Cash fights back and defends himself with some serious soup-bone right and left hands. But the robotic Soviet just keeps pressing forward, applying the pressure, and uses his Sambo to get the larger Porkchop to the mat. Once there Checkmate keeps up the brutal assault on the Chopper’s knee.
But with a heart as big as Alabama and his title on the line, Cash is refusing to give it up. Even when locked in the Inverted Communist Deathlock, Bobby Cash grits his teeth, digs his nails into the mat, and makes it to the ropes. Using the ropes to pull himself up Cash is able to dodge an Avalanche in the corner from Checkmate and head-butts the Eastern Block Bandit to the mat, he follow it up with a falling head-butt and hooks the leg!

NO! Checkmate just barely gets his shoulder up and rolls to the outside. Cash takes the time to get back to his feet and nurse his ailing knee the best he can. Prof. Malenko’s final solution snatches Cash down by the ankles, and attempts to wrap Porkchop’s busted knee down across the apron of the ring, but Bobby uses his other foot to blast Checkmate in the face. Referee Ron West backs Porkchop up so that Checkmate can get back into the ring, the Professor just shoved something into Checkmate’s mask!
Cash and West are oblivious to the foreign object protruding from the forehead of the masked man as he re-enters the ring. The Choppa nails him with a right hand to the gut that doubles the masked man over, an elbow to the back of the neck drops him like a ton of bricks. Cash clutches at his knee, but throws himself down anyway, DIVING HEAD-BUTT CONNECTS! Wait, Porkchop isn’t moving, he’s out like a light, Checkmate makes the cover,

One half of the Southeastern Tag Team Champion Midnight Rebels, Marty Jannetty locked horns with one half of the number one contenders for their titles, from the Tennessee Stud’s Perfection Connection, Double A, Arn Anderson. In an unbelievable encounter, filled with numerous twists, turns, close calls, and near falls, neither man was able to prove dominance over the other. Jannetty even pulled off the seemingly impossible as he somehow managed to drape his leg over the bottom rope after suffering Anderson’s dreaded Ghordbuster front suplex. Jannetty fought back and caught Anderson in the Mexican Surfboard, but Arn showed his toughness refusing to submit, and holding on for the time-limit draw.

The other halves of the Championship and number one contender tag teams, Tom Prichard and Jerry Stubbs went to battle to end the night, and were as evenly matched as their partners were in the previous match-up. This time, the Tennessee Stud proved to be the difference as his cane found its way into the ring and as referee Bobby Simmons talked Fuller off the apron Stubbs waffled Prichard in the back of the head with cane, wrapped him up tight, and pinned him 1, 2, 3 in the center of the ring.
