Referees: Paul Morton, Jerry Calhoun & Paul Neighbors
-We go now to Channel 5 Studios here in Memphis to Lance Russell and Dave Brown-
Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to “Championship Wrestling ‘85”. Russell and Dave mention that they will have a VTR featuring Jerry “The King” Lawler with an update on his medical condition – that’s coming up later on! Right now, Tommy Rich and Bill Dundee make their way out to rapturous applause from the fans. Lance Russell reminds fans that last Monday, this duo got a huge win over The Devil’s Triangle in tag team action. Dundee tells Lance that the match proved that The Devil’s Triangle are beatable. They’ve been running rough shod over everything for six weeks now, but last week they got put down for the count.
This Monday night, there will be two huge matches as Dundee challenges Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang, and Jake Roberts puts the CWA Title on the line against Wildfire. Rich says he is all farrrrred up about getting his hands on Jake Roberts this week. In his mind, Jake has a debt that needs paying to the people of Memphis for what he did to the King. Rich knows he’s the man to make sure that Jake’s debt gets paid. Dundee then talks about the so-far unstoppable One Man Gang. The Superstar says a lot of people are counting him out – but they did the same thing when he faced Kimala and look what happened at the end of that match! Dundee and Rich then both tell Lance that they are going to be watching The King’s comments very closely later on.
Match #1: The Moondogs (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs. Ken Raper and Mark Ragin
Moondog King pinned Mark Ragin at 5:13 after a running knee drop to score the win… The Moondogs get back to their former winning ways after a tough January by mauling two jobbers. Jimmy Hart has the Moondogs continue the attack after the bout, until referee Paul Neighbors threatens a disqualification.
Jimmy Hart leads the Moondogs over to the desk, where Dave Brown announces that they will face the new team of Sweet Sensation on Monday. Hart cackles and says Stan Lane’s career has been in the toilet ever since he left the First Family all those years ago. Does he actually think by bringing in some green-as-grass rookie will help strike gold! Well not this Monday. Hart says he hasn’t fed his Moondogs for days and won’t feed them before Monday because he wants them to rip Stan Lane and Shawn Michaels’ pretty little faces apart. Dave has heard enough and sends us to break.

Southern Tag Team Champions The Rock n’ Roll Express are out and they tell Lance that they are frustrated about their matches with Rick Rude and Adrian Adonis. Ricky Morton talks about Eddie Marlin telling him that Rude and Adonis are owed no more title matches, but Morton has convinced him to book one more match this Monday. Ricky tells Lance that the fans deserve an actual result and one way or another, they will get one on Monday night because there will be no time limit. Robert Gibson adds that these have been some of the toughest matches of their career, and the RnRs have something to prove this Monday night at the Mid-South Coliseum.
Match #2: Phil Hickerson (w/ Tommy Gilbert) vs. Mike George
Phil Hickerson got the pin over Mike George at 8:34 with a gordbuster… Tommy Gilbert of course got his shots in behind the referee’s back and the fans were riled up as Hickerson was able to score the pin.
Lance Russell and Dave Brown send us to a VTR of a team returning to CWA after an impressive run in Southeastern – it’s THE NITEMARES:
Phil Hickerson and Tommy Gilbert are at the desk with Dave Brown after the VTR airs. Tommy Gilbert wants to know if he is supposed to be impressed with Danny Davis and Ken Wayne – and that IS who is under those masks – doing a number on Ricky Gibson? See, in his and Hickerson’s day, they wouldn’t have just beaten Ricky Gibson up, they’d have finished his wrestling career right then and there. Hickerson is sick and tired of all these young punks showing off here in CWA. Phil reminds Dave that he and Tommy ran off the so-called Wild-Eyed Southern Boys, and they will do the same to these Nitemares if they ever actually show up in the CWA!

Lance Russell and Dave Brown announce that the time has come. We haven’t seen the man in over a month. He was stripped of the Southern Heavyweight Title after a brutal attack by the Devil’s Triangle. He surely has a lot to say. This is a message from Jerry “The King” Lawler:
We go to the home of the King, where we see The King seated next to a roaring fire. He is wearing a neckbrace. Lawler says he wanted to take an opportunity to speak with the fans because he has received so many cards and letters. He has had a lot of time to think in between his doctor’s appointments and physical therapy sessions – and he wants to let the fans in on what he has been thinking about. Lawler talks about being sneak-attacked by a bunch of punks led by Jake Roberts. Now, Lawler has to look himself in the mirror. He brought this problem on himself because he asked The Snake to come to Memphis. It was a bad decision. And as much as he hates to admit it, Bill Dundee was right when he advised that Jake was not to be trusted.
Jerry says the result of that bad decision is a serious neck injury – a fracture that will take time to heal. Conventional wisdom says he should never be in a position to risk further injury. Now, if he heeds those consequences, then The King has to stop doing what he loves. That means not only can he never get revenge on Jake Roberts, but he can never step back into that ring again. On the other side of the coin, if he follows the conventional wisdom, he can have some semblance of a normal life at some point outside of wrestling.
Lawler says hanging up the tights is a prospect that he never thought he would have to consider as a 36-year-old man. However, he has to think of his wife Paula and his kids as well. So a decision had to be made. But announcing his decision on a VTR isn’t the right way to go about this. So, next week, he will be at the Channel Five studios and he will look each and every fan in the eye when he announces his decision.
We go back to the studio where Lance and Dave are shocked by what we’ve just heard from The King.
Match #3: Adrian Street (w/ Miss Linda) vs. Mike Boyette
The Exotic One gains the victory over Mike Boyette at 6:11 when he puts him out with the sleeper hold… Adrian Street confounds Boyette and the fans by alternating between swishing around the ring and then brutally clawing at Boyette’s eyes and nose, before putting him away.
The full Devil’s Triangle are out in force after the match. CWA Champion Jake “The Snake” Roberts can’t help but smile when he thinks about where we’ll be next week. Not only will he have taken care of Tommy Rich, not only will One Man Gang have squashed Bill Dundee like the cockroach he is, but then they will get to witness Jerry Lawler announcing the end of his career on live television – and they can take credit for that too! Roberts then gets deadly serious as he says this should be a lesson to the wrestling world. Remember, he promised he’d help Lawler get revenge on King Kong Bundy. And that happened. Now, he’s promising that Lawler will never step foot inside a wrestling ring again. Next week, that will happen. Do people really want to test his word anymore? Imagine what else could happen…

VTR: Michael St. John joins us with a special look at the amateur wrestling champion Rick Steiner! We see clips of Steiner getting professional training from Eddie Marlin and Jerry Jarrett. Michael then announces that Steiner will make his professional debut in March here in the CWA. We then cut to a short interview with Steiner, who in his off-beat way says he knows a lot is being made of his debut and he will make a splash in the world of professional wrestling!
Lance Russell announces that next week live on Championship Wrestling, we will have a hotly-anticipated rematch as Eddie Gilbert faces off with Billy Joe Travis! Right now, Jimmy Hart, his bodyguard Big Bubba Rogers and the team of Rick Rude and Adrian Adonis are at the desk. Hart says first of all, the only thing that upsets him about Jerry Lawler retiring is that it wasn’t the First Family that put him out! However, they do have a chance to put down the Rock n’ Roll Express this Monday Night. Jimmy calls Morton and Gibson “the dirtiest cheaters in the world” for managing to hang on to the belts without actually beating the First Family. This Monday night, Rude and Adonis are going to get the win and bring gold back to the First Family!
TV Main Event: The Mongolian Stomper & Stomper Jr. vs. The Dirty White Boy & The Dream Machine
Dream Machine scores the win over Stomper Jr. at 10:44 by rolling him up with a hand-full of tights to steal a victory... The Mongolian Stomper looks dominant when he is in the ring and his nephew has his moments, but gets taken advantage of by two opponents with more experience and less interest in adhering to the rules.
Dutch Mantell runs in after the match and clears out the Dream Machine and the Dirty White Boy by swinging Shoo Baby around. Mantell then calls The Mongolian Stomper and Stomper Jr. over to the desk. Dutch puts over Stomper Jr. as a kid with a lot of heart and a lot of promise. He has some things to learn, but he will learn them in time! In fact, how about this Monday night, we have The Dutchman and the Mongolian Stomper team up against The Dirty White Boy and The Dream Machine. Stomper Jr. can be in the corner and watch out for any funny stuff that Dream Machine and White Boy pull. The Mongolian Stomper and Stomper Jr. agree and walk off with The Dutchman.
