Championship Wrestling from Florida
Monday, January 27, 1985
West Palm Beach Auditorium 1) Tom Zenk defeats Nick Kiniski at 6:22 with a Sunset Flip! 2) Rick McGraw & David Sammartino defeated The Orient Express: Onita & Fuchi with Tojo Yamamoto at 11:01 when McGraw pinned Fuchi after a Double Suplex! 3) ”Beautiful” Bobby with Jim Cornette defeated Terry Taylor with the Alabama Jam at 21:33 after Cornette tripped Taylor as Taylor was going for the Five Arm! 4) Cpl Kirchner & The Falcon defeated ”Wild” Bill Ash & The Assassin when Kirchner pins Ash after a Running Powerslam at 14:30!! Ash had a fit post match and attacked Kirchner with the “Arkansas Strap” he brings to the ring with him. The Assassin fought The Falcon letting Ash get some good shots in with the Strap until a few underneath wrestlers came out to run Ash and The Assassin away! INTERMISSION5) Mike Jackson defeated Don Diamond with a Tilt a Whirl Slam at 8:29 6) Barry Windham defeated ”Loverboy” Dennis with Jim Cornette with a Flying Clothesline at 31:57. Cornette tried to interfere like he did earlier but Terry Taylor came back out to stop him. “Beautiful” Bobby also came down and the resulting brawl forced the ref to eject Bobby, Taylor AND Cornette. Good back and forth fight between the two. Dennis used a foreign object to bloody Windham but the young man from Sweetwater, Texas prevailed and won the match! Bobby “The Brain” Heenan came down to the ring and cut a promo on ”The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes being an idiot for refusing to join him. Heenan says that Dusty and all of Florida is about to learn that you do not turn down The Heenan Family. Heenan says luckily not everyone from Florida is a total humanoid and introduces the cornerstone of the Heenan Family, from Tampa, Florida, he is…. . . . . . . . . ”MR. WONDERFUL” PAUL ORNDORFF!!!!!!!7) Southern Heavyweight Championship: “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes retained his title via DQ against ”Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff with Bobby “The Brain” Heenan when Orndorff used a Piledriver on Dusty in the center of the ring. Heenan threw the referee out of the ring after the match and Orndorff set Dusty up for a second Piledriver but Barry Windham led all the babyface wrestlers to the rescue!! Orndorff has made his mark in his debut here in Florida!

Wow, that was NOT who I was thinking the mystery opponent would be. You can't go wrong pairing the Brain and Mr. Wonderful though!

I agree, was not expecting P.O. This will be really good! I like everything in Florida, especially the westher. We're scheduled for six to eight inches of snow tomorrow night.

Outstanding night of action. Really enjoying the Kirchner/Wild Bill feud, and Eaton/Taylor and Windham/Condrey lived up to and surpassed expectations, two outstanding wrestling matches. I was not expecting Mr. Wonderful either, but he is such a perfect fit. Great opponent for Dusty, has a rich history in the state, and is a match made in heaven for Bobby Heenan. I can't wait to see this war rage on. Great night of action in the Sunshine State!
Peace Jeff

Good show.
Heenan did as promised, bringing in Orndorff to do his dirty work on Dusty. Will a piledriver or two get the message across?

See you got me, I thought it was someone else because you told me it was someone else, going to be interesting to see how you work the other guy into things here. Dusty vs Mr. Wonderful has the potential to be just as big as Mr. Wonderful vs. Hogan was in the 80's, so it'll be fun to see where you take the feud. Can't lie, the tag match before the Intermission would have done nothing for me, I don't remember the Falcon, though I know there has always been talk about him online, and I was never that big of a fan of Kirschner nor Bill Ash, but you are telling a pretty good story with them.

I thoroughly enjoyed Bill Ash's work in Alabama. I've never seen him do 'Wild' Bill, but I've seen plain Bill and Dr. Bill, and he put on fun early mid-card matches. I was never a big fan of Kirchner, but he could brawl his way through a match. I don't know the Falcon, but I think having an Assassin (whether it's Jody or not) would have enough significance with the audience for them to be into it. 14'30 might be a tad long, but not if Falcon could do most of the work for his team, Ash could do that time limit easy. Even if I'm not a fan of the opponent, I am a big fan of Bill Ash getting any kind of spotlight. He doesn't deserve semi-main events, this is perfect use of his abilities. Really fun mid card/tag heel to help elevate babyfaces up the card. And as Kimmel mentioned, Mario's storytelling makes up for any babyface deficiencies.
But if you don't like Ash, I can definitely see why it wouldn't do much for you lol.

Great use of Ash and Kirchner. Orndorff being the Heenan crown jewel gave the fans a shock but, as always, Dusty came through. Cornette got a split and I am sure Taylor and Windham will be back for more.
