Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to “Championship Wrestling ‘85”. The Devil’s Triangle – Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang, CWA Heavyweight Champion Jake Roberts and Adrian Street – and their valet Miss Linda were out to start the show. A smiling Jake Roberts says that the Devil’s Triangle did exactly what they said they would last Monday night. Jos LeDuc is on his way back to Quebec City, licking his wounds. And lo and behold, the brand new Southern Heavyweight Champion is One Man Gang. Roberts tells Dave Brown that this was yet more proof that The Snake makes good on his promises.
Dave Brown then mentions that this Monday, One Man Gang will defend his belt against The Mongolian Stomper, and Roberts and Street will face off with “Wildfire” Tommy Rich and “Superstar” Bill Dundee. Roberts says these will be tough matches, but the Devil’s Triangle will walk out with victories just like they always do. Jake then asks Dave Brown about where Jerry “The King” Lawler is. Are the rumors true that he has packed up and moved out of Memphis out of shame. Dave Brown says Jake can find out for himself because there will be a special video update on The King right here next week! Roberts tells Dave that he’ll be watching very closely.
Match 1: Jake “The Snake” Roberts (w/ The Devil’s Triangle) vs. Mark Ragin
Jake Roberts pinned Mark Ragin at 6:41 after connecting wit the DDT… The CWA Heavyweight Champion toyed around with Ragin for most of the match, until he struck with the knee lift. The Snake then finished off Ragin with the DDT.
Jimmy Hart is out next with his bodyguard Big Bubba Rogers and the team of Rick Rude and Adrian Adonis. Jimmy complains that the fans always accuse him of pull all kinds of tricks, but the masters are the Rock n’ Roll Express who managed to keep those Southern Tag Team Titles without actually beating the First Family twice. Hart says this Monday night, there is no time limit and so his men will have all night to punish Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson. Rick Rude then says all the women in the audience will finally have two real men as champions to drool over once the Rock n’ Roll Express and beaten and discarded.

The Mongolian Stomper is out with his nephew Stomper Jr. after the VTR to discuss his Southern Title match against One Man Gang this Monday night. Mongolian Stomper tells Lance Russell that he is impressed by the Gang, but everything goes out the window when the Southern Title is on the line. The veteran says he will have his nephew at ringside so he can keep learning more lessons about dealing with the most dangerous wrestlers in the game. Lance Russell wishes Mongolian Stomper luck as the big man heads to the ring.
Match 2: The Mongolian Stomper vs. Mike Boyette
Mongolian Stomper pinned Mike Boyette a 3:11 with a running boot to the chest… The veteran works over Boyette from bell to bell and does not let up as he prepares to challenge for the Southern Heavyweight Championship on Monday night.
Stan Lane is out next to introduce his new tag team partner. Lane reminds Dave Brown that his old friend Steve Keirn recommended this young man and he was very impressed. He would like to introduce – hailing from San Antonio, Texas – this is Shawn Michaels. The young Michaels makes his way out and shakes hands with the fans around ringside. Michaels then tells Lance that he is thankful to have a veteran like Stan Lane take him under his wing. He promises to give everything he has in that ring in order to make all these great Memphis fans proud. Dave Brown then announces that this new team – which Lane calls Sweet Sensation – will be in the ring on Monday night at the Mid South Coliseum.

Eddie Marlin is out with Lance Russell and Dave Brown as we come back from break. Marlin urges all the fans to tune in next week because he has heard rumblings about what Jerry Lawler has to say. However, he has another announcement to make. Marlin takes about this being a boom period for wrestling, with a lot of new talent entering the sport. One such athlete is a young man by the name of Rick Steiner. Marlin mentions that Steiner comes from an amateur background and placed second in he Big Ten Championships in 1983 when he represented the University of Michigan. Marlin says next week, Michael St. John will conduct a special interview with Rick Steiner about his transition into the world of professional wrestling.
Match 3: Billy Joe Travis vs. Mike George
Billy Joe Travis pinned Mike George at 7:08 with a sunset flip… This is a rematch from last week, after a demand from Mike George. Travis once again impresses the crowd by scoring a huge win in only his second TV appearance here in CWA.
“Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert is out as Billy Joe Travis has his hand raised and he tells Dave Brown that he doesn’t understand why this kid has got on TV two weeks in a row. Eddie asks when was the last time he got a TV Match? Dave Brown can’t recall and Eddie says it’s an absolute crime. Billy Joe Travis makes his way over now, but Eddie Gilbert tells him that nobody interrupts Hotstuff’s TV time. Travis says he was happy to wait his turn, but he is not about to let anybody talk down to him. Eddie laughs and says a couple wins over a ham-and-egger like Mike George means nothing to him. Hotstuff challenges Billy Travis to meet him in the ring on Monday and he will personally end this Cinderella story. Travis accepts and walks off.

TV Main Event: Dutch Mantell vs. The Dream Machine
The Dream Machine pinned Dutch Mantell at 10:17 when Dream Machine rolled up The Dutchman with a handful of tights… Dutch and Dream Machine had a big-time brawl, but soon The Dirty White Boy came out and decked Mantell with a roll of quarters while Dream Machine had the referee distracted. Mantell had to be helped from the ring after the match.
Southern Tag Team Champions The Rock n’ Roll Express are out and Ricky Morton tells Dave Brown that he is disgusted by Jimmy Hart’s comments. Hart didn’t mention that Morton and Gibson went to Eddie Marlin last Tuesday and asked for a no time limit match. Morton puts over Rude and Adonis as a great team, but so far they haven’t managed to get a win themselves. If they really have guts, Rude and Adonis will tell Jimmy Hart and Big Bubba Rogers to keep their nose out of this match on Monday night.
