WWA Catchup
November and December
1984
-PAUL ORNDORFF continued to chase the GREAT WOJO, they had great matches all over the area, but BRUISER BRODY kept trying to interfere. Orndorff brought in a college football teammate in former Oakland Raider John Matuzak. Matuzak and Brody battled in a few matches that ended in double DQ’s. It was decided that at Market Square Arena around Christmas there would be a card with a double main event, both matches being cage matches. First, Brody destroyed Matuzak in their match ending any chance of the Tooz taking care of Brody. Then with Brody refusing to leave the ringside area, he had a close up view of Paul Orndorff defeating Wojo with a piledriver to win the WWA title. But Brody would not be denied and in Paul’s first title defense on New Year’s Eve in Detroit, Brody defeated him for the WWA title showing the WWA he was the man to beat.
-The MAXXS held on to the WWA tag straps throughout November, defeating Ohio Players, Zambouie Express, Dick the Bruiser and Spike Huber. There biggest Challenge would come from the new Wrecking Crew (Ole Anderson and Ray Stevens). They had some wild matches, but in the end Anderson and Stevens took the WWA tag straps in Cleveland.
-After, RON BASS and BLACKJACK MULLIGAN stopped teaming and started feuding, they battled all around the area, neither man has been able to get a firm hold on the matches and it looks like these battles will continue for a long time to come.
-DOCTOR JERRY GRAHAM JR led Stevens and Anderson to battle DICK THE BRUISER and SPIKE HUBER, but when his tag team went after the gold. The good Doctor battle Huber in a series of matches that had Huber coming out on the winning side, Dick the Brusier even got some wins over Dr Graham.
-THE SHEIK and MARK LEWIN continue to battle all over the area in specialty matches, Lewin has had his blood spilled in many an arena, but vows that he will not give up on sending the Sheik from the region.
Newcomers that are wrestling in the area:
DAN SPIVEY has made his debut and is trying to get to the top by challenging all the top talent.
ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER and BAD NEWS ALLEN have engaged in a blood series that could lead both men in the hospital. The former Olympic judo star has his hands full with the mad man from the Sudan.
