STAMPEDE WRESTLING
SATURDAY, JANUARY 11, 1985
TAPED THE PREVIOUS NIGHT AT THE VICTORIA PAVILION IN CALGARY, ALBERTA
ED WHALEN opens the show at ringside and welcomes us to STAMPEDE WRESTLING!
The first match is already in progress as WHALEN runs down some of the matches we’ll see this week, including Kerry Brown taking on Gerry Morrow in singles action, Jim Neidhart and Mr. Hito taking on the Kiwis, and a HUGE tag team main event, as North American Champ Bret Hart teams with Davey Boy Smith to face Randy Savage and David Schultz!
BOBBY BURKE V. GOLDIE ROGERS, JIP – We only see the final minute or two of this 10-minute time limit draw between Burke and Rogers. Burke has the upper hand as the bell rings to end the match.
ED WHALEN is joined at ringside by DAVEY BOY SMITH and North American Champion BRET HART.
Bret and Davey Boy talk about the tag team match coming up, where they’ll face David Schultz and Randy Savage. Bret says that Savage and Schultz beat him up pretty bad last week, when it was 2 on 1, but today, the sides are even, and he and Davey Boy will be victorious.
Davey Boy talks about David Schultz turning his back on Bret, and all of his former friends here in Stampede, and says that Schultz showed his true colours, that he’s a snake.

KERRY BROWN (w/ JR Foley) V. GERRY MORROW, JIP – Morrow puts up a good fight against Brown, but Brown eventually gets the win after dropping Morrow with the Piledriver for the 1, 2, 3.
WHALEN climbs into the ring to interview FOLEY, BROWN and KELLY KINISKI. Foley brags about Brown’s impressive win moments ago over Morrow, and says that nobody in Stampede can beat his men, and says that the fans had better get used to seeing them with these belts, because they’re going to have them for a LONG time.
FOLEY then talks a little bit about David Schultz and Randy Savage, and says he can’t wait to watch them destroy Bret Hart in the main event!
WHALEN is then joined in the ring by “DR. D” DAVID SCHULTZ and RANDY “MACHO MAN” SAVAGE.
SCHULTZ says that he doesn’t understand what everybody’s so upset about, he called the World title match right down the middle, just like he said he would, but Bret Hart wanted Schultz to favour him, and when he wouldn’t, Bret, the snivelling crybaby that he is, threw a tantrum. He says that Bret brought all of this on himself.
SAVAGE agrees with Schultz, saying that Schultz was a completely impartial referee. Savage talks about today’s main event, and says that he and Schultz will be victorious.

JIM NEIDHART & MR. HITO V. JONATHAN BOYD & RIP MORGAN, JIP – We join the match about 8 minutes in. Neidhart and Morgan have both been busted open. The Kiwis have the advantage, but Neidhart eventually turns the tables, and pounds away on Morgan. Boyd comes in and pulls Neidhart off of Morgan and starts swinging away with rights and lefts. Mr. Hito comes in to help Neidhart, but Boyd starts pummeling him as well. With all four men brawling in the ring, referee Wayne Hart realizes that he has lost all control of this one, and throws the match out, declaring it a No Contest.
After the decision is announced, Boyd throws Neidhart from the ring, and repeatedly bashes him over the head with the flagpole that the Kiwis carry to the ring. Neidhart ends up a bloody mess, and has to be helped to the back.

BRET HART & DAVEY BOY SMITH V. “DR. D” DAVID SCHULTZ & RANDY “MACHO MAN” SAVAGE, JIP – We join the match about 15 minutes into the 30-minute time limit. Hart is in the ring with Schultz, and he’s got Dr. D down on the mat, and is working on Schultz’s arm and shoulder. Savage comes in and drives the point of his elbow into the forehead of Bret, causing him to let go of Schultz. Davey Boy comes in, but the referee forces him back out of the ring, giving Savage and Schultz a chance to double-team Bret. Bret fights back, but when the referee gets knocked down, Randy Savage produces a pair of brass knux, and clobbers Bret with them!
With Bret out cold on the mat, Schultz throws Davey Boy out of the ring, and follows him to the floor, where they brawl. Inside the ring, as referee Cedric Hathaway regains his senses, Savage heads to the top rope and delivers his flying elbowdrop. Savage covers Bret and gets the 1, 2, 3!
Savage and Schultz celebrate in the ring as Davey Boy tends to Bret.
WHALEN says we’re out of time for this week, and hypes next week’s show.
