-We go now to Channel 5 Studios here in Memphis to Lance Russell and Dave Brown-
Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to “Championship Wrestling ‘85”, the first live show of 1985. Lance and Dave join us and open the first show of the year by recapping the shocking events at the Christmas Show, when Jake Roberts united with Adrian Street and the One Man Gang to betray Jerry “The King” Lawler. Lance reveals that The King has been banned by his doctors from being here this week or wrestling on Monday, but he will be back on Championship Wrestling right next week in the studio! Dave Brown then calls out Jake “The Snake” Roberts to explain himself to each and every person watching Championship Wrestling this morning.
Jake "The Snake" Roberts makes his way out, and he is accompanied by Adrian Street, Miss Linda and the One Man Gang. The Snake is smiling as Dave Brown accuses him of betraying each and every fan here in the CWA. Roberts tells Dave Brown that he doesn’t really believe what he is saying. The people never liked or trusted him. Neither did Lance Russell, who called his motives into question multiple times on Championship Wrestling. And all those doubters were exactly right to question The Snake! Because the only thing a Snake can do is strike out, and this Snake struck out at the Christmas show. The people knew it was coming. So did Lance Russell. Heck, so did Bill Dundee! So Jake doesn’t want to hear any moralizing going on out here.
The Snake goes on to say that the only one who couldn’t see the forest through the trees was Jerry Lawler. Lawler was blinded by his hatred for the First Family. Roberts says as far as he is concerned, he kept up his end of the bargain. Jerry Lawler got to beat King Kong Bundy in the cage and become Southern Champion. That concluded his business with The Snake, and that meant that it was time for The Snake to move on and start taking steps to benefit himself. And that meant bringing in a few like-minded individuals like the One Man Gang, Adrian Street and Miss Linda. You see the trio of wrestlers you have before you today are known as the Devil’s Triangle. And Miss Linda is their special adviser!
Dave Brown questions what the name means. Adrian Street chimes in and says the Bermuda Triangle – or the Devil’s Triangle – is considered the most dangerous place on earth. Well, not quite, because being in the ring with Adrian, The Snake and the Gang is always the most dangerous place on earth at any given time! Brown reveals that two big matches are signed for this Monday. CWA Champion Tommy Rich has demanded a match with Jake “The Snake” Roberts, and also Street and the Gang will face Bill Dundee and a partner of his choice. Jake Roberts says it sounds like a more people will face the same fate as The King. Roberts closes the interview by warning Jerry Lawler not to show up next week.
MATCH ONE: JAKE “THE SNAKE” ROBERTS w/ Devil’s Triangle vs. MIKE BOYETTE
Jake Roberts scored the win over Mike Boyette at 6:11 with the DDT… Boyette is a game opponent and gives Roberts a little trouble early on, but The Snake takes back control with a short-arm clothesline. Roberts then connects with the knee lift and then hits the DDT to score the win.
Former Southern Heavyweight Champion King Kong Bundy is out after the match and he is less than pleased. Bundy says first of all, his issues with Lawler are far from over, and now he wants to make the so-called Devil’s Triangle feel pain as well. However, he wants some answers from Jimmy Hart as to why the First Family abandoned him in the cage. Jimmy Hart now makes his way out with Rick Rude, Adrian Adonis and Playboy Frazier. Hart stands behind his men so Bundy can’t get to him, but shouts that the big man proved he is a loser and the First Family have no room for losers. Bundy says he’ll prove that Hart is the real loser when he takes out the First Family one by one. Hart then promises a mystery opponent to the Mid-South Coliseum on Monday to finish off Bundy once and for all. Bundy promises that his personal mission in life is to destroy the First Family, as Hart scurries off with his First Family members.

Southern Tag Team Champions The Rock n’ Roll Express are out to celebrate their title win with Lance Russell. Russell says it was a bright spot at Christmas to see Ricky and Robert finally get revenge on The Gilberts. Ricky Morton recalls being cheated by the Gilberts, being burned by the Gilberts and being ducked by the Gilberts. It made his and Robert’s title win even sweeter. Russell then announces that they aren’t quite finished with The Gilberts yet because this Monday they will be challenged by “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert and the massive Playboy Frazier. Ricky Morton says any night that the Rock n’ Roll Express can beat up Eddie Gilbert is a good night, so they say bring it on!
MATCH TWO: THE MONGOLIAN STOMPER & STOMPER JR. VS. KEN LUCAS & JOSH STROUD
The Mongolian Stomper scores a submission win on Josh Stroud at 8:23 with the Cobra Hold… Stomper Jr. is the Mongolian Stomper’s nephew and he makes a good accounting for himself here, despite struggling at times. His uncle destroys Stroud in the later moments and scores the big win.
Dutch Mantell and The Dirty White Boy are out after the match, and Lance Russell announces that they will face Rick Rude and Adrian Adonis this Monday night. Dutch says he has always been clear that he will fight anyone, so he will put this business with Tommy Rich behind him and focus on the big match with Rude and Adonis this Monday. Russell mentions to the White Boy that it could be a chance to turn his recent bad luck around. Dirty White Boy retorts that it’s been Dutch that has had some bad luck, not him. Mantell doesn’t like that one bit and says he and the White Boy will talk more about that comment in the back.

Jos LeDuc is out in the studio ranting and raving as we come back from break and he wants to know why Jake Roberts has not called him back! LeDuc says he would have taken out Lawler – The Snake didn’t need these punks Street and the One Man Gang. The Devil’s Triangle are back out now and Roberts tells LeDuc to calm down. Jake tells LeDuc that he did a good job, but the fact is he was no longer needed as of Christmas night. LeDuc wants to know just what the hell Roberts is talking about.
Jake "The Snake" Roberts says he doesn’t mean to offend Jos, but the truth is that he only hired LeDuc because Street and the Gang had some loose ends to tie up that prevented them from showing up until Christmas. So, he called Jos LeDuc. The Snake says LeDuc did a good job and there’s no hard feelings, but he was never going to be a member of the Devil’s Triangle. So maybe it’s time for him to go back to Quebec City, because he’s no longer needed here.A furious LeDuc collars Roberts and shouts that nobody tells him what to do! Adrian Street then cheap shots LeDuc, causing the French Canadian to go after him. One Man Gang now grabs LeDuc’s logging chain and slams him across the back with it! Gang and Street grab ahold of LeDuc as Jake Roberts just shakes his head and kicks LeDuc in the groin!
Hold the phones – here comes “Superstar” Bill Dundee and he is swinging a steel chair! The Devil’s Triangle retreat to the dressing room as Bill Dundee shouts that he is not about to let Jake Roberts and his band of freaks bring down CWA. He doesn’t like what they did to The King, even though the Superstar and Jerry Lawler aren’t friends. LeDuc is back up now and he is wild-eyed as Dundee asks him to be his tag team partner this Monday night! LeDuc agrees and says he will rip Jake Roberts apart for ever double-crossing him!
MATCH THREE: “SUPERSTAR” BILL DUNDEE VS. MIKE JACKSON
Superstar Dundee wins via pinfall over Jackson at 7:23 with the Bomb’s Away knee drop off the second rope… Jackson is a tough opponent and he scores a few near falls, but Dundee has the support of the fans. He turns a cross-body attempt into a power-slam. Dundee then goes up top for the Bomb’s Away to get the win.
Lance Russell and Dave Brown then air a VTR promoting the return of the Dream Machine to the CWA later in January!

He tags in his protege Mark Ragin, who misses a shoulder tackle. Rude and Adonis then isolate Ragin on their side of the ring and score the win.
The Moondogs wander out after the match, as does “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert. Gilbert is not happy and he says his poor father had a terrible Christmas due to the ruthlessness of Ricky Morton! Well, this Monday night, he has the big man Playboy Frazier in his corner and he wants the Playboy to squash “the no-good Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson” like the “stinkin’ bugs they are”! Jimmy Hart then cackles and says buying the Moondogs from Sir Oliver Humperdink was the best investment of his life!
