Tony Schivone and “Bulldog” Bob Brown welcomes the fans to the first ever CWF Power Drive Episode on TSN.

Schivone mentions that this is a new era for Professional wrestling, and that Canada may never be the same again, once they experience the CWF.

Brown mentions that he’s really impress with the talent that the CWF as brought to Canada, and that Mr. Burke and Petitpas finally has earned his respect after many years of battling against them.

Schivone mentions that at this time, their collegue Raymond Rougeau is in the ring with Leo Burke and Stephen Petitpas.

Rougeau introduces Leo Burke and Stephen Petitpas.

Burke mentions that they’ve gone around the world to find some of the best professional wrestlers in the world. They promise the Canadian wrestling fans that they will bring them the very best in professional wrestling every week.

Petitpas mentions that they will begin a tournament to crown the first ever Canadian Heavyweight Champion. Starting on Saturday, on CTV on the first ever episode of CWF Championship Wrestling, 8 of the very best professional wrestlers will vie for the Canadian Heavyweight Title, with the semi-Finals and Finals being held next week right here on the Power Drive.

The participants for the Canadian Heavyweight Title tournament will be announced later in the program.

Giant Warrior Vs. Sexton Hardcastle & Ace Darling

This is a total squash. Hardcastle and Darling never had a chance against the 7 foot warrior. Warrior used his size and strength to totally dominate the match and destroy both men. Finally pinning Hardcastle following a falling chokeslam.

Hart mentions that he’s happy to be back home in Canada and being able to have the support of the home town crowd. He mentions that he loved his time in the States, but coming home is really what he was looking for. He also mentions his upcoming match up tonight against Eddie Watts, and that he’s ready for anything.

Benoit mentions that returning home after a great stint in Japan, was just what the Dr. ordered. He mentions that he’s happy to be back with old friends like Owen, and that even though they are looking for the Canadian Heavyweight Title, a Tag Team title is definitely not out of the question.

Chris Candido (With Tammy Fytch) Vs. Mark Starr

Excellent back and forth match up between both men. Starr looked very good, matching Candido hold for hold, however the momentum changed quickly in favor of Candido, when Starr missed a running charge in the corner, and rammed his shoulder hard on the steel post. Candido went to the attack quickly focusing on the injured shoulder, but also using some high risk maneuvers, including a beautiful Hurricarana from the top rope. Starr did manage to mount a small comeback, but Candido used a sit down Power bomb for the pin.

Mike Lazansky & Chi Chi Cruz Vs. Hot Properties (Scott Summers & Johnny Hot Body)

Excellent tag team match up between 2 young teams. Lazansky and Cruz looked very good in the early going, dominating the action, but when Lazansky missed a drop kick, it opened the door for the Summers and Hot Body to take control of the match. They took turns working on Lazansky, and getting several near falls, but unable to put him out. Lazansky managed the hot tag, and Cruz came in and took total control of the match and got several near falls. Cruz connected with Russian Leg Sweep and went for the pin, when the bell rang to end the contest.

Following the match, Cruz and Lazansky wanted 5 more minutes, but Summers and Hot Body had enough and retreated to the dressing room.

Winner: 15 Minute Time Limit Draw.

Raymond Rougeau is in the back with “Dirty White Boy” Tony Anthony & Tracy Smothers.

Smothers mentions that he’s here in Canada for one reason and that’s to take care of some business. They where approached by a very wealthy person, to come here in Canada and destroy people and protect certain people.

Anthony talks about how, he’s looking to smash some heads and bring home some Tag Team Gold as they will also look to make sure that a certain person wins the Heavyweight Title.

Rougeau asked who are they working for, and Smothers response is simple: “None of your DAMN BUSINESS”

Petitpas announces the first round match ups, that will be broadcasted on CWF Championship Wrestling on CTV, Saturday. He reminds the fans to check their local listings for times.

Tom Zenk Vs. Chris Candido

Owen Hart Vs. Tony Anthony

Petitpas mentions that the opening rounds will be 1 fall 20 minute Time Limit.

Owen Hart Vs. ”Bad Boy” Eddie Watts

Excellent back and forth match up between both men. Watts tried stalling a bit and slow down Hart, but Hart didn’t fall for any of the “Bad Boy” Tricks. Hart controlled most of the early part, but missed a flying cross body block sending him to the outside. Watts quickly went to the attack on the outside of the ring, using the guardrail to strangle Hart, and also using a chair to try and finish him. Referee Frank Parker showed lots of discretion not disqualifying Watts.

Watts brought the action back in the ring and tried to finish Hart, but was unable to get the 3 count. Watts decided to try a flying elbow drop from the top rope, but Hart rolled out of the way and Watts crashed the canvas hard.

Hart took full control of the match, and connected with a beautiful drop kick from the top rope, setting up the Sharpshooter for the submission victory.

Mauro: Welcome wrestling fans to our premier edition of CWF Championship Wrestling. I’m your host Mauro Rannelo, and joining me is a man that doesn’t need any introduction. A great wrestler in his own right, former Tag Team Champion, 1 half of the Fabulous Rougeau Brothers. Raymond Rougeau.

Raymond: Thank you Mauro, for that nice introduction. It’s definitely an honor being here with you, to be able to bring you some of the best wrestling action in Canada.

Mauro: Well, let’s get quickly to what we have in store for the fans this week. As you saw at the beginning of the program, Co-Commissioner Stephen Petitpas announced the opening match ups for the Canadian Heavyweight Title. And we will have these 4 matches today.

Raymond: Those are great match ups and we are very lucky to bring you these opening match ups this week.

Raymond: Welcome back to Championship Wrestling. I’m joined here by former AWA World Heavyweight Champion Rick Martel. Rick, you have a tough task in front of you later in the program, when you will battle the Giant Warrior in the First round for the Canadian Heavyweight title tournament.

Martel: You are right Raymond, I’m taking a man that looked very good on Tuesday night destroying 2 men. The Giant Warrior is big, and he’s strong, but I do have something that he doesn’t have ,and that’s experience. I’ve wrestled all over the world, and I’ve held multiple titles, and I know what it takes be a champion. I might be a little bit older, but I’m definitely wiser. Warrior be ready, cause I sure am.

Raymond: Thank you Rick, now let’s go to David Penzer.

The match starts off slowly with both men being cautious, not wanting to make an early mistake. Anthony gets the early advantage, when he raked Hart eyes. Anthony used and aggressive style, and tried every dirty trick in the book to get the victory. Hart showed resiliency, and refused to give up. Anthony went for it all, when he climbed the top rope, but missed a knee drop. This opened up the door for Hart, who immediately went to work on Anthony and his right knee, making sure to focus his attack on the injured part. Anthony, managed to regain control again, but that was short lived, when his bodyslam attempt backfired and his knee buckle with Hart falling on top and hooking the leg for the 3 count.

Hart did not have time to celebrate as out of nowhere Tracy Smothers charged the ring with the Confederate Flag and began beating Hart with it. But, Chris Benoit was out quickly and the next thing you know, you’ve got all 4 men going at it in the ring, with Smothers and Anthony taking the high road to the dressing room.

Mauro: Looked like Smothers and Anthony’s plan to attack Hart quickly backfired.

Raymond: They never expected Benoit to be come out quickly and help his friend out. Something tells me that this might just be the beginning of some bad blood between these 2 teams.

Owen: I knew going into this match up against the Dirty White Boy, that Smothers would possibly be around. Well, that’s why that Chris was pretty quick to come out. Anthony, Smothers we are more than ready for you guys, so just bring it. Cause we are not hard to find.

Benoit: Only here in Canada, that a Single tournament will end up in a Tag team war. Smothers, Anthony beware, cause you’ve got 2 young lions ready to get in your face and take what you can dish out.

Former WCW World TV Champion Tom Zenk looked great in the early going of the match, taking the fight to Candido and getting several near falls. Candido managed to slow the pace down, by rolling to the outside and taking most of the referee’s count before getting back in the ring. With Zenk continuing his attack, he made one fatal mistake, when he got distracted by Tammy Fytch, which opened the door for Candido to clip the leg, and take control of the match. Candido used his speed and mat wrestling knowledge to work on Zenk leg, applying a version of the Indian Deathlock. Zenk managed to fight back, and seemed to be on the verge of putting Candido away, when he hooked the sleeper on him, but Candido propelled himself off the top rope to fall backwards and fall on top of Zenk getting the 3 count.

Mauro: Zenk can’t believe it, but he just got fooled by Candido.

Raymond: Smart move by Candido, knowing his presence in the ring, and using it to his advantage. Smart wrestling by the New Jersey native.

Fytch: (Grabbing the microphone) If you don’t mind, I have a few things to say. My man here, is the only real man in Canada. Look at him, he’s in great shape, a real wrestling machine. He can mat wrestle, he can fly off the top rope. He’s the man, that after Tuesday will be holding the Canadian Heavyweight title. Cause, when I promise something, it comes true.

Raymond: (Shaking his head, as Fytch and Candido walks off) Let’s go to the ring.

This was a match if size and strength Vs. skills and speed. Martel used a quick hit and run tactic early in the match, staying away from the big man. His tactic lasted for a good 5 minutes, but once the Warrior managed to catch Martel, he took control using some big power moves, including an impressive Leg Drop. However, the veteran Martel would not stay down, and managed to mount a comeback, and regain control of the match. Martel attempted to whip Warrior in the ropes, which was reversed, Warrior attempted a big boot to the face, but Martel slid underneath and quickly rolled up Warrior from behind and held on for the 3 count.

(Following the match, Giant Warrior goes crazy and delivers a vicious Choke Slam. He then goes to the outside of the ring, grabs a steel chair. Opens the chair, and delivers another vicious choke slam on top of the open chair. Martel is down in severe pain, as finally Owen Hart, Chris Benoit, Mark Starr & Tom Zenk charges the ring to make the save.)

Mauro: Finally help from the back. Martel is in severe pain in the ring. Remember a couple of years ago Martel had back surgery, so hopefully this is not the end of his career.

Raymond: I’ve known Ricky for a long time, and I can guarantee that he will not quit, and I’m sure we will see him on Tuesday night in the semi-finals.

Tony: Welcome wrestling fans to another great action packed program of CWF POWERDRIVE. I’m your host Tony Schivone and joining me here a man, that needs no introduction to wrestling fans in Canada. “Bulldog” Bob Brown.

Bulldog, we are set for our 2 semi-finals and then the big one at the end of the program. The Finals for the Canadian Heavyweight Title.

Bulldog: Well, Mr. Schivone after the opening match ups this past weekend, I know that the fans are in for a big treat tonight.

Tony: Before going to the ring for our first semi-final match up, let’s take a look at this weekend to see how these 2 men as made it there.

This was an excellent fast pace match between 2 of the fastest men in the game. Benoit tried using is mat wrestling, while Candido focused more on a quick and flying attack. Both men had their share of offense, and Candido managed to get the with a leg trip in the corner, and his feet on the ropes.

Bulldog: What a very smart move by Ms Fytch to assure herself some championship gold.

Martel: I feel like I’ve been hit by a tractor trailer. I’m sore, and hurt, but one thing is for certain, I ain’t going to quit or go down without a fight. Hart, we’ve been down the road before, and I know that you are a great wrestler, but I intend to give it my all and leave nothing in the ring.

Raymond: Back to you, Tony and the Bulldog.

Bulldog: Martel doesn’t look too good…maybe he should of just forfeit and live to fight another day.

Tony: Martel is a fighter, he won’t back down, let alone step down from a chance to the Heavyweight Title.

Bulldog: There’s a difference Mr.Schivone between being a fighter and an idiot, and I believe that Martel is an idiot.

Tony: (Shaking is head.) Let’s go to David Penzer.

This was a great clean scientific match up between 2 men, that know how to wrestle. The action was fast and furious, while Hart tried to focus his attack on Martel’s back, but Martel the wily veteran kept protecting his back. The turning point in the match came when Hart attempted a flying cross body block from the top rope, which resulted in Martel rolling over and hooking both legs for the 3 count.

(Following the match, both men shake hands in a show of respect. As Martel exits the ring and begins walking to the back, out of nowhere the Giant Warrior attacks Martel from behind. He immediately delivers a vicious choke slam on the steel ramp. Martel is down in Pain, as Owen Hart comes charging from the ring with a chair. Chris Benoit, Cruz and Mark Starr come out from the back to assist Martel who is really hurt. Commissioner Leo Burke also comes out, and checks over Martel as first aid personal comes out to assist.)

Tony: Another vicious attack by the Giant Warrior on Martel.

Bulldog: Martel should of just forfeited the match, and none of this would of happened. The Giant Warrior is one vicious man, and he’s proving to the world that he’s not happy with losing to Martel.

Tony: First Aid personal is checking over Martel, let’s go to break, and we’ll be back with Tag Team Action.

Burke: I’ve talked to Martel, the good news, he knows where he’s at and he’s alert as to what happened. We have a doctor in there with him, and the Doctor will have the final say. If he cannot go, Candido will be awarded the title by forfeit.

Raymond: Joined here by Ms Tammy Fytch, Chris Candido, Tony Anthony and Tracy Smothers. We are only a few moments away from the finals for the Cana…..

Fytch: (Pulling the microphone from Rougeau) You mean, to the presentation of the Canadian Heavyweight Title the real champion. Chris Candido. I said it from the start, that Chris was going to bring me championship gold, and now with Tony and Tracy as my tag team, they will bring us Tag Team Gold. I will soon be the most wealthiest lady in the world, as I’ll be holding both titles.

Candido: That’s right Tammy, Rick Martel, I’m sorry you got hurt, but it’s your fault for getting a big giant upset at you. Just happy that I have Tammy with me, to keep me out of trouble. Martel, good luck.

Raymond: Let’s go to David Penzer. (Shaking his head in disgust)

Bulldog: This kid was impressive, I have to say that he has lots of potential, with the right manager, he could go places.

Tony: What you mean right manager?

Bulldog: A kid, this young let’s say with Tammy Fytch could really go places.

Tony: I don’t think that Storm will be joining up Fytch and company anytime soon. When we return, hopefully the finals for the Canadian Heavyweight Title, between Rick Martel and Chris Candido.

(We return to see CWF Commissioner Leo Burke standing in the ring holding the Canadian Heavyweight Title. Chris Candido and Tammy Fytch are also standing in ring with big smiles on their face. Senior Referee Frank Parker is also in the ring standing in a neutral corner)

Burke: Ladies and Gentlemen, we were hoping to show have a great final match for the Canadian Title, but due to serious injuries sustained by Rick Martel earlier tonight, it appears that he will not be able to compete in this final match.

(Fytch is jumping in Candido’s arms, screaming: “I told you so”

I have no choice, but to present this title to

(All of sudden, you can hear music playing)


It’s Rick Martel’s theme, from the back Martel comes out with his ribs heavily bandaged. The crowd goes wild and he’s making is way to the ring followed by a Doctor.

Martel charges the ring and he’s ready to go. Burke and referee Frank Parker talk to the Doctor. The Doctor tells them, something and Burke tells Parker to ring the bell.

Tony Schivone: Looks like we are going to have ourselves the finals right now.

Bulldog: I don’t believe it.

Rick Martel Vs. Chris Candido

Martel immediately gets in the ring and the fight is on. Martel gets the upper early in the match up dominating Candido, but you can tell that Martel is far from a 100% percent. With every punch, he throws he’s in pain. Martel, manages to slow down the pace and focuses his attack to the left arm of Candido. Martel continues his attack on Candido using holds that would not be stressful on his back. Martel also tried to pick up the pace and try to get some pins on Candido, but unable to get him out.

Fytch at ringside is not liking this and climbs on the apron, which distracts Martel. Martel moves towards her and screams at her, which give the opening to Candido to drive his knee to the back of Martel. Candido picks up the pace and attack on the back. He’s working the back with some stiff kicks and elbow drops, then gets a rear chin lock, while driving his knee to the back.

(We are set to go to commercial, when we see Tony Anthony and Tracy Smothers making their way down to ringside.)

We return to action and see that Tracy Smothers and Tony Anthony are still at ringside with Tammy Fytch cheering on Candido, as he continues to apply a rear chin lock, while driving his knee to the lower back of Martel.

The crowd begins to cheer loudly, as Owen Hart and Chris Benoit come out from the back. They surround one side of the ring and begin banging on the ring and encouraging Martel. Martel, desperately tries to break out of the hold, but Candido appears to bit distracted with the fan favorites out there. He breaks the hold himself and gets in a shouting match with Hart, as this gives Martel a chance to recover slowly.

Candido returns his focus on Martel and begins kicking him, but Martel manages to grab the leg and trip Candido, and finds some energy to apply a Boston Crab. Candido is screaming in pain, but Martel appears to be just in as much pain, and is unable to really sit back on Candido. Fytch, Smothers and Anthony are screaming from their side of the ring. Candido tries to reach for the ropes, and thanks to some help of Smothers who pushed the ropes closer, Candido grabs the ropes.

Benoit and Hart move towards that side and a shouting match begins between all 4 men. The next thing you know, you’ve got a fight in the ring, and another brawl on the outside. Commissioner Leo Burke was at ringside signals to the back for some, as referee’s Danny Marsh, Mike Chioda, Mark Curtis, Tom Zenk, Johnny Swinger, Sexton Hardcastle to name a few come from the back to try and separate the brawl on the outside.

Also from the back it’s the Giant Warrior…the Big Giant Warrior is back out, and with everybody’s attention on the brawl on the outside, Warrior picks up Martel and delivers a falling choke slam, almost driving Martel through the mat. Warrior puts Candido on top of Martel and exits the ring. Referee Frank Parker sees Candido on top and enters the ring and makes the 3 count.

Candido as won the Canadian Heavyweight title. Candido quickly goes to the outside and jumps in the arms of the Giant Warrior. Tammy Fytch is seen hugging Warrior, as Smothers and Anthony laugh on the outside, as Hart, Benoit, Hardcastle are checking on Martel in the ring
