Lance Russell announces that after tonight, CWA will taking a short break until after the holidays. There will be a best of '84 show this Saturday, but no card next Monday night. CWA Championship Wrestling will return live on January 4.
1) Rick Rude, Adrian Adonis and Playboy Frazier (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated The Mongolian Stomper, Tom Zenk and The Midnight Raider at 7:34 when Adonis forced the Midnight Raider to sleep with the Goodnight Irene sleeper.
2) Adrian Street (w/ Miss Linda) defeated ”Superstar” Bill Dundee when Street rolled up Dundee and hooked his tights to steal a cheap win over the Superstar.
3) One Man Gang defeated Rufus R. “Freight Train” Jones at 3:14 when connected with the 747 splash after a dominating performance.
4) The Rock n’ Roll Express: Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson (w/ Ricky Gibson) defeated Southern Tag Team Champions The Gilberts: Eddie Gilbert & Tommy Gilbert to win the belts in a double dog collar match at 20:34 in a brutal and bloody match when Ricky Morton managed to choke out Tommy Gilbert with his chain until referee Jerry Calhoun finally called for the bell and awarded the match to the Rock n’ Roll Express! Morton and Gibson finally are victorious and have their revenge, as Eddie Gilbert and Jimmy Hart are panicked over the unconscious Tommy Gilbert.
INTERMISSION
5) The Moondogs: Spot & King defeated The Wild-Eyed Southern Boys: Tracy Smothers & Steve Armstrong at 12:34 when Moondog Spot pinned Tracy Smothers. The shocking finish saw JIMMY HART sprint down into the Moondogs’ corner and belt Smothers with his megaphone behind the referee’s back. Hart then left with the Moondogs – it looks like there are two new members of the First Family.
6) CWA Heavyweight Champion Tommy “Wildfire” Rich defeated Dutch Mantell in a Best 2/3 Falls match in 25:35. Rich won the first fall with a small package, but Mantell came back and won the second fall with a spinning neckbreaker. The final fall saw Rich boot Mantell when he tried to use Shoo Baby, hit the ropes and then connect with the Lou Thesz press to score the match-winning pin.
7) Southern Heavyweight Title – Cage Match: King Kong Bundy vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler: The principles were out first and then Bundy banished Jimmy Hart to the outside of the cage. Jos LeDuc then made his way down to guard the door, due to his win over Rick Rude last week. Lawler and Bundy soon tore into each other, with The King getting the crowd going by dominating early on with a string of right hands that send the massive Bundy sprawling out to the floor. Lawler followed the big man and scraped his head against the cage, drawing blood early on from King Kong Bundy.
King Kong Bundy fought his way back and then sent Lawler head-first into the steel post. The champion threw Lawler back into the ring and dropped a big elbow across his chest for a near fall. Bundy worked over Lawler for quite some time and whipped him into the corner. The champion signalled for the end and then crushed him with an avalanche! A silence fell over the arena as Bundy now covered The King.
Referee Paul Morton made the count for the 1-2-NO! Bundy was stunned and the crowd exploded as Lawler kicked out! Bundy grabbed Lawler and went to pull him up, but suddenly Lawler unloaded with shots to the gut. The King decked Bundy with strike after strike – and then be pulled the strap down! Lawler drilled Bundy with another right hand that dropped him and now he picks up Bundy – he slams him! He slams Bundy! Lawler now climbs up to the top rope, he looks around at the crowd and leapt off with the flying fist drop! Lawler covered and he got the 1-2-3! The King has done it! He has vanquished King Kong Bundy!
WINNER: NEW Southern Heavyweight Champion Jerry “The King” Lawler
The fans were going crazy and then they noticed Jake “The Snake” Roberts slipping down to ringside as Bundy rolled out to the floor inside the cage. Jake motioned to LeDuc, who opened the cage door now. Roberts slinks into the ring and hands Lawler the Southern Title. Roberts is smiling and clapping for Lawler as The King hesitantly looks on. The smile fades away from Roberts’ face – as he boots Lawler in the gut and DDT’s him! The fans are stunned now as Jake pop up, grabs the title and now smiles again.LeDuc looks confused out on the floor, and wait a minute!
Here come Adrian Street and Miss Linda! What are they doing down here?!?! LeDuc and Street square off, but Jake shouts for LeDuc to let Street in and then bolt the door. Street and Miss Linda slide past LeDuc into the caged ring area as Jos looks totally confused by what is going on. Street now slides into the ring and he pulls Lawler up and shoves him right into another DDT from Jake Roberts!
Thank god – here come Superstar Bill Dundee, Tommy Rich and the Rock n’ Roll Express. LeDuc now starts brawling with ALL OF THEM. This Canadian Lumberjack is taking on any and all comers, but he looks confused about what exactly is going on here! And now -from down the aisle comes…
THE ONE MAN GANG! Gang now belts Morton and Gibson with a chain… is that LeDuc’s logging chain! LeDuc turns around to see the Gang, and now the massive Chicago thug pushes past him and begins brawling with Dundee and Rich.Jimmy Hart is now shouting for King Kong Bundy to get out there somehow, but the dazed former champion instead steps into the ring and he gets in Jake Roberts’ face! The Snake tells Bundy to leave, but Bundy shoves him! And Adrian Street bashes Bundy across the back of the neck with the title belt and Jake lays the big man out with the DDT!
Here come the First Family en masse now – and they are going to join in this fight to help Bundy! Jimmy Hart stops them! He is telling them to leave with him! Jimmy Hart says this is all none of their business and now he is leading his stable away as Adrian Street stomps on the prone King Kong Bundy.
And thankfully, here come Steve Armstrong and Tracy Smothers and they are scaling the cage, but Adrian Street climbs from inside to try and fight them off. Eddie Marlin is out now with boltcutter as Jake “The Snake” Roberts pulls Lawler up once again and gives him a third DDT – on the title belt! Finally Eddie Marlin cuts the lock on the door and the Rock n’ Roll Express and the Southern Boys flood the cage. Jake, Miss Linda and Street slide out of the ring and get around and out of the cage as the babyfaces tend to the prone Lawler. Jake Roberts, Adrian Street, Miss Linda and the One Man Gang now all take off together as Jos LeDuc looks on in a state of confusion.There is a silence in the arena as a stretcher is sent out and Lawler is loaded onto it and carried out of the Mid-South Coliseum.
