12/18/96 - Hartford Civic Center Hartford, CT
"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! The briefly recap last week's show including The Ubermensch becoming the # 1 Contender's for the Tag-Team Titles, ECW Champion Chris Jericho defeating Tully Blanchard; and the newly Christened Million Dollar Champions Steve Corino and Alex Porteau accepting the challenge for the Titles layed out by "All-American" Ron Simmons and "Macho Man" Randy Savage! That huge match set to take place right here tonight!
They then run down the rest of tonight's card which will see the team fo World's Finest in action as well as the return of "The Dark Prophet" Brimstone!
But before the action can get under way William Regal returns! He heads down to the center of the ring and talks about his match at Wrestle Annual III against Eddie Guerrero. He says on the biggest stage of them all he was robbed of one of the biggest wins of career and he refuses to let those actions go unpunished! Which is why right her, right now he's calling out the Mexi-Kings!
Eddie Guerrero's music then hits and he comes out with Shawn Hernandez and Chavo Guerrero Jr. who charge down to the ring! But they're cut off?!
By Scott Taylor and Tully Blanchard?! Regal hops out of the ring to join them and says that he knows the Mexi-Kings like to fight in a gang. They proved that at Wrestle Annual. But that's okay because Regal went and found a gang of his own! And they're called the Horsemen!
Guerrero doesn't seem to like this news at all and while he trades some insults with the trio, he back the Mexi-Kings up the ramp and into the back where they disappear. Regal, Tully; and Taylor then take over the ring while the fans cheer.

Match: World's Finest vs. The Green Berets
Referee: S.D. Jones
The team of Corporal Kirschner and John Rambo hasn't been seen around ECW in some time. They put up a decent fight against World's Finest; but "Ravishing" Rick Rude and "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam prove to be too much for them and Kirschner takes the pin after getting hit by the Rude Awakening followed by the 5-Star.
After the match Rude and RVD get on the microphone and say that they deserve to be the # 1 Contender's for the ECW Tag-Team Titles just as much as the Ubermensch! And not just because they're prettier! Or just because they're the better team! But because the two greatest men to ever step foot in the squared circle all but won their match for them last week!
"White Train" by Tito & Tarantula then hits and out from the back comes ECW President Eric Bischoff who has the Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer with him! He says that he understands what World's Finest is saying. In fact he's not the only person who agrees with them! Because Dreamer and Rhodes wants a piece of them too! Which is why next week he's scheduled a Triple Threat match for the Tag-Team Titles!
Rude and Van Dam seem pleased with this news until Dreamer and Rhodes charge down to the ring and give them a taste of what to expect next week.
The two teams continue to brawl into the...

"White Train" by Tito & Tarantula hits! And out from the back comes ECW President Eric Bischoff! "Easy E" He reminds us as we all know by now when Eric Bischoff comes out here it can only mean one thing! And that's Business is at Hand! Which of course means he must have some business out here tonight right? And that's a special announcement that over the next two weeks due to the holidays Eastern Championship Wrestling will be going head to head with it's two chief competitors on Monday Nights! That's right, next Monday December the 23rd and the following Monday December 30th ECW will be fighting it out in the ratings with perhaps the biggest wrestling federation in the world today, WCW! And the WWF! Now Eric isn't worried, because he knows how loyal the rabid Eastern Championship fans are and he's sure they'll more than hold their own before returning to their Wednesday Night timeslot the following week! He then thanks us for out time.
Match: Brimstone w/ CoD vs. Douglas Williams
Referee: Danny Davis
"Mean" Gene likes to say "The U.K.Kidd" Douglas Williams has alot of heart. And he leaves it all over the ring as "The Dark Prophet" Brimstone makes his in-ring return, manhandling Williams before putting him away with a Chokeslam from Hell.
We're then taken backstage where ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels is having a word with ECW Champion "The Long Island Loud-Mouth" Chris Jericho! And he's beat Terri. Ever since his win at Wrestle Annual ECW President Eric Bischoff has put Jericho through a veritable guantlet of ineptitude! He's had to face every loser dumb enough to step into the ring with him on this roster just because Bischoff as always, ALWAYS been jealous of "The Loud-Mouth!" Which is why he cancelled his victory celebration. And he apologizes to the millions and MILLIONS of Jericoholics for that. But he needs a vacatio---
Just then Eric Bischoff walks into view?! The ECW President says that he can see defending the Title has taken it's toll on Chris. But he knows deep down in there Chris loves proving he's a fighting Champion. Which is why he's scheduled him another match tonight... against William Regal!
Say WHAT?!!
Match: Erin O'Grady vs. Shane Helms
Referee: S.D. Jones
We're then taken back to ringside where "The Leprechaun" Erin O'Grady is busy heading to the ring as he tosses gold coins to the crown. His opponent
tonight is recently returned "Sugar" Shane Helms who battles O'Grady back and forth; until "The Leprechaun's" luck holds out and he hits Helms with his patented Lucky Charm double underhook implant DDT for the win. He places a gold coin on each of Shane's eyes before leaving the ring.

Million Dollar Tag-Team Title Match: Steve Corino & Alex Porteau vs. Randy Savage & Ron Simmons
Referee: Danny Davis
Young "Mr. Wrestling" Steve Corino surprises alot of his critics when he holds his own early on against "Macho Man" Randy Savage whom he hits with a Springboard Bulldog at one point for a two count! Corino attempts to wear Savage down with a rear headlock which proves to be a mistake as Randy rallies back and beats the hell out of Steve before making the tag to Ron Simmons and the duo whip him into the ropes and nail him with a big ol' double Spinebuster! Simmons makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Corino kicks out just before the three! Ron works him over some more getting making a few more unsuccessful pin attempts while Steve attempts to make the tag! Simmons keeps pulls him back however and catching his leg gets caught offguard with a step-up enziguiri! And Corino makes the tag!
Alex Porteau comes in a house of fire as he hammer Ron with several punches and clubbing elbows. When he whips the big man into the ropes however he ducks too early and gets kicked in the face! Simmons then flattens him with a football tackle, lands on top of him; and begins raining down the punches! He beats Porteau from one side of the ring to the other while a pained looking Ted DiBiase looks on in financial horror. And Ron makes the tag to Savage!
Big Ron whips Alex across the ring while Randy runs after him and leaping over the top rope connects with a brutal hairpull hangman! He poses for the cheering fans as he heads up top for the Savage Elbow! But as he perches....
He's pushed off the top turnbuckle to the floor below!
It's "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit! Davis calls for the bell while Benoit leaps off the apron and connects with a Flying Headbutt on Savage! Steve Corino heads around the ring to lend a hand, but he gets cut off by Ron Simmons who decks him with a hard right! Inside the ring "The Million Dollar Dame" Dawn Marie is busy checking on Porteau when she herself is attacked by Debbie Combs! Chaos has broken out as "Rugged" Ronnie Garvin's security team spills from the back right before the...

COMMERCIAL BREAK
Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event! They focus on the history between these two men; William Regal having defeated "The Long Island Loud-Mouth" Chris Jericho in a Loser Trades Promotions Match at ECW and WCW's joint Pay Per View Showdown in Charlotte! Their second encounter proved just as much a classic as they fought for the # 1 Contendership for the ECW Championship at September to Remember! Jericho went on to defeat ECW Champion "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson on December 1st at Wrestle Annual III. Regal is sure to be looking to pay Chris back for his loss at StR tonight; a win here meaning much more than that as it would make him the # 1 Contender for the ECW Title itself!
Gertner: The following non-Title contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first from Blackpool, England weighing 243 lbs.; Lord William Regal!
Regal is charged up as he comes down to the ring and poses for the fans. "Thunderkiss '65" by White Zombie then hits! And out from the back explodes...
Gertner: And now introducing his opponent this evening from Manhasset, New York weighing 226 lbs.; he is the Eastern Heavyweight Champion; "The Long Island Loud-Mouth" Chris Jericho!
Main Event: Chris Jericho vs. William Regal
Referee: S. D. Jones
Chris Jericho looks tired in the ring and is favoring his injured arm. William Regal doesn't seem to care however and takes the fight right to the ECW Champion which according to Lanny is very unsportsmanlike of him. He works over Chris' arm and shoulder with several grappling holds, but "The Long Island Loud-Mouth" holds his own, battling back with a basement dropkick to Regal's knee which he focuses on throughout the match and midway through rallying the strength to run the ropes and hit the Lionsault!
It only gets him a two however and a he and Regal battle back and forth for a bit until Lord William takes full control of the match making several pin attempts after hitting a European Uppercut and a bridged German Suplex! Chris keeps kicking out however, but William Regal keeps on pouring on the pain and sends Chris flying with an Exploder Suplex that sends him bouncing right out of the ring!
Chris takes a while to get back up and tired of waiting Regal reaches out grabbing "The Loud-Mouth" by the hair! Only to get brained by a steel chair!
S.D. Jones and everyone in the arena saw it clear as day and Regal is awarded the win here via DQ! Jericho doesn't seem to care however as he enteres the ring and after struggling with Jones for the chair and throwing the ref down he slaps Regal over the back with it! And then hits him again! And again! Apparently satisfied Regal isn't getting back up anytime soon; Chris throws the chair away and rolling out of the ring claims the ECW Championship which he holds into the air as the...
