RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE’S BOMBTRACK blasts as the camera pans across a raucous LITTLEJOHN COLISEUM from Death Valley! The campus of the Clemson Tigers!
Tony Schiavone, Larry Zbyszko, and Dusty Rhodes welcome everyone to another action packed edition of Monday Nitro, LIVE on TBS! We are just 2 weeks away from the GRANDADDY OF THEM ALL, the STARRCADE ’96: HOMECOMING in the Greensboro Coliseum, where Ric Flair won his second Heavyweight Championship of the World. Big news to announce tonight, in honor of the Homecoming theme, some favorites of wrestling’s past will be on hand at Starrcade!
In a Starrcade Rewind match that will air on the Pay-Per-View broadcast, our former broadcast colleague, Terry Taylor will tangle with the Russian Nightmare Nikita Koloff! And in Nikita’s corner, Mid-Atlantic and Professional Wrestling Legend, ‘Uncle’ Ivan Koloff!
But that isn’t all fans. On the Main Event countdown show airing an hour before the PPV kickoff, two more legends matches have been signed! Some familiar faces who were on hand in Greensboro for the first couple of Starrcade’s will be on hand as the Ace ‘Cowboy’ Bob Orton teams up with Mr. Unpredictable ‘Dirty’ Dick Slater and the (other) Nature Boy Buddy Landell as they take on, an old friend of the American Dream’s, his former World Tag Team Championship partner, the ‘Ragin Bull’ Manny Fernandez and the Fantastics!
Also on the Main Event, Brad Armstrong with his father and NWA Legend ‘Bullet’ Bob Armstrong in his corner takes on the man who broke Wahoo’s leg, and nearly beat Roddy Piper deaf, Greg ‘the Hammer’ Valentine!
Match 1
Kevin Sullivan and Terry Gordy defeat Charlie Haas and Kid Flash by pinfall after Gordy delivers the Tombstone piledriver to Kid Flash!
After the contest Sullivan grabs the house mic from Dave Penzer and says that last week he promised Ricky Steamboat he would have someone here for him, and that man is in the building tonight. And if that lucky, paper champion has any guts, he will meet Sullivan’s mystery man right here tonight!

We return from break and The Dragon is power walking to the ring! Steamboat says he is not here to play games with Kevin Sullivan, and if the ‘Gamesmaster’ has someone he wants to fight Steamboat, well here the Dragon is!
Sullivan with Gordy at his side comes out all smiles, and says be careful what you wish for, lizard…
Match 2
The United States Champion Ricky Steamboat and Mike Rotundo hook it up in a catch as catch can classic. At first. Once the champ gets the better of the wrestling exchanges the former captain of the Syracuse Wrestling and Football teams roughs it up, but can’t keep the Dragon down! Just as Steamboat begins to make his comeback Terry Gordy blasts him from behind, and Nick Patrick calls for the bell!
Gordy, Sullivan, and Rotundo are putting the boots to Steamboat. Sullivan starts motioning to the back, “who is he calling?”
STEVE WILLIAMS IS ON NITRO! The 4-time All-American from the University of Oklahoma hits the ring, and picks up the Dragon’s lifeless body, OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE! OH NO! Doc is picking him up, not again Doc!
Samu and Dem Aloha Boys come storming from the back and brawl with Sullivan’s dastardly group for a bit before Sullivan and his boys exit the ring.

Don Callis and his Eliminators are standing by with Mauro Ranallo and Callis gloats about his boys dispatching of the Nasty Boys at the Clash of Champions. He says that he told everyone that WCW’s tag team division would never be the same, and he was right! Now, there is one team that his Eliminator’s dominance has been compared to, and lucky enough for him, they are now the Unified World Tag Team Champions. That is why Callis is laying an official challenge at the feet of the Mighty Steiner Brothers. If you want to go down as the best tag team of the 1990’s there is a team you have to beat, and I don’t think you can do it. At the Grandaddy of them All, my Eliminators want a piece of the Steiner Brothers!
Match 3
Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton, Vicious and Delicious, with the first Lady of Professional Wrestling Miss Elizabeth took on the rough and rugged British Bruisers, Dave Taylor and Johnny Smith in a hard hitting, back and forth tag team encounter. The Bruisers more than held their own, but Norton and Bagwell worked very well together and picked up the victory after Norton hit Smith with his patent Powerbomb.
International Wrestling Journalist Mauro Ranallo joins the booth for the following contest and says that he is excited to have the honor of announcing an International Dream Match for Starrcade, as the sensational Rey Mysterio, Jr. will go one on one with Japanese superstar, Tiger Mask IV!
Match 4
Tiger Mask IV and Super Crazy hooked it up in an all action, break neck encounter that saw each youngster strut their stuff. Crazy’s recklessness gained him an advantage, but also proved to be his undoing as he missed a moonsault and succumbed to the Tiger Driver II!

The Nature Boy is in the ring with a mic and a rather large bandage on his forehead. Naitch says that he was advised by his doctors not to appear on Nitro last week because any strenuous activity threatened to open up his stitches, which could jeopardize his main event match at Starrcade. And then he was sitting at home, just up the road in Charlotte, WOOOOOO, North Carolina, and heard everything our so-called Perfect Heavyweight Champion had to say. Well pal, you have officially tugged on Superman’s cape!
Flair hits the ropes, drops an elbow on a ghost, and gets up red-faced and hollering. HENNIG! YOUR ASS IS MINE! I’m gunna chop ya! I’m gunna bite ya! I’m gunna stick my thumb in your eyes! (Flair drops to his knees and applies his dreaded Testicular Claw to that poor ghost) and you will pay the ultimate price! My friend you will be in the heart of Flair Country, on capitol hill in the house the Naitch built, and I will, I will, I will, I WILL BE THE NEXT WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
We are sent to the back where Ricky Steamboat is being checked on by Emergency Medical Personnel. His good friend Lance Storm is with him as well. The Dragon sees Ranallo delivering an update and calls him over. The Dragon says he is in a lot of pain right now, and admits that Sullivan and his cronies got one over on him tonight, but Steamboat wants Dr. Death Steve Williams in the ring at Starrcade, and he doesn’t care who he has to go through to get his hands on the big man. Steamboat addresses the 1992 rib injury suffered at the hands of Dr. Death, and says that his revenge has been a long time coming!
The CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD DEAN MALENKO WALKS IN! Malenko says that he has been looking for Storm all day and wants to let him in on a little secret. He didn’t get the name the Lone Wolf by playing well with others, and Dean says that he wants to prove to Storm exactly why he didn’t need his or anyone else’s help last week. And he ain’t talking about Starrcade either, the champ don’t roll that way; he ain’t waiting for anything, Lance Storm gets a title shot TONIGHT!
Match 5
Shinjiro Ohtani and Koji Kanemoto with Sonny Onoo took on Psychosis and La Parka in another all action contest here on Nitro. The Luchadores gave the Puroresu pioneers all they could handle, but the grappling superiority of Onoo’s men proved to be the difference as Ohtani locked in the Muta Death Lock on Psychosis and picked up a big submission victory

We return from break and Col. Parker is standing by with Mauro Ranallo and his Tongan Torture Machine bodyguard Meng at his side. He says that he has significantly upgraded from Big Bubba. Eaton is a relic, and that Tony Anthony has been put out of wrestling for good. He knows Bubba challenged his man Meng tonight, but that match will not happen tonight. Next week, Bubba will get what he as coming to him. Tonight’s business involves the World Television Champion Diamond Dallas Page, and boy he must have a death wish. Two different sneak attacks on Meng with one of the most devastating finishing maneuvers in the sport, the Diamond Cutter, and here Meng stands fresh as a daisy! The honorable JJ Dillon has granted the Colonel’s request, and at Starrcade Meng does what that no-good Bobby Eaton could never do, he takes that TV Title from Page!
Tony, Larry, and Dusty reset the action of an impactful Nitro, and inform us that Bubba vs. Meng was moved to next week in order to accommodate the impromptu Cruiserweight Championship Match, as each of those matches deserves their fair share of time. Samu vs. Kronus the Eliminator is on hand as a stand by match in case this match doesn’t take up the allotted TV time remaining, with about 30 minutes. Tony and Dusty talk about the all-time classic these two men had at the WCW/ECW Supershow, interestingly enough an unscheduled title match as well, that put the then WCW GenX Division Championship in the hands of the enemy, and Lance Storm has been biding his time ever since. Dean Malenko has been one of the hottest wrestlers in the entire world since that day, and has combined championships from 3 Continents to form a truly WORLD Cruiserweight Championship…

Vs
Lance Storm
Each man starts off a bit cautious as they exchange head and hammerlocks, neither man able to establish and advantage early on. The action picks up as Lance starts hitting the ropes and going for moves of greater impact. He seems to be targeting the head and neck of the champion, smartly taking into account the Champ’s hectic schedule. Malenko tries to shake the cobwebs loose, but walks into a boot to the gut, Storm hoists him up for the Corkscrew Brainbuster, but Malenko counters out, reverses, and SUPLEXES STORM OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE FLOOR! Senior official Nick Patrick checks on Storm and rules against the DQ ..

We return from break and the ‘Lone Wolf’ is in full control now, grinding on the head and neck of Storm as he punishes him with the camel clutch. Storm refuses to give it up, and valiantly makes it to the ropes, but Malenko gives him zero space. Malenko grabs a waistlock, he pops the hips, German suplex plants the challenger. Malenko rolls through and keeps his grip locked in place, but this time Storm hooks his foot behind Malenko’s leg, he goes behind, he pops the hips and hits a German of his own, with a bridge, 1…….2…………NO! Malenko barely got the shoulder up. Storm question’s the ref’s count, Malenko spins him around, but Storm ducks the clothesline. Malenko rushes him again, SUPERKICK from Storm! He hooks the leg, 1……..2…..NO! Malenko got his foot on the rope, and the champ brilliantly slides underneath the bottom rope.

We are back from our last commercial break, and this classic encounter has taken a visible toll on both men. They are standing, barely, in the center of the ring delivering blistering chops to one another’s chests, OH MAN! Malenko blasts a knee into the gut of Storm, he hoists him up, MALENKO DELIVERS THE CORKSCREW BRAINBUSTER TO STORM!!!!! Dean has a sly smile on his face as he points to his temple, and makes the cover. 1……….2…………….3, NO! At the last possible second Storm got the shoulder up. Malenko slides his thumb across his throat, he is setting Storm up for the Cloverleaf, but Storm musters enough leg strength to flip Malenko right out of it. Storm is barely able to stand as he pulls himself to his feet.
Malenko charges his challenger, and Storm low bridges him, Malenko flies to the floor crashing hard. Storm sees his opportunity, he runs to the farside ropes, and flies SUICIDE DIVE! Both men are down, and the crowd is on their feet! Storm and Malenko barely make their way back inside the ring before the 10 count and are chopping away again. Malenko delivers a short back elbow to the nose of Storm, and now blood is beginning to trickle down, Malenko sets Storm on the top rope and goes behind him, he is setting him up for the brutal Super Gutbuster that won him the championship from Storm at Showdown! Storm blocks it! And again. Storm spins around the neck of Malenko, MALENKO BLOCKS THE HUNCANRANA, and both men take a NASTY FALL TO THE MAT! Neither man is moving. This doesn’t look good at all.
Nick Patrick doesn’t even start his count, he calls for the bell, and motions to the back for help!!!?
Schiavone, Dusty, and Larry apologize for an unsatisfying conclusion to one of the most epic matches in the history of Nitro, fans we are desperately out of time, and want to thank TBS: THE SUPERSTATION for sticking with us through the duration of the bout, be sure and join us next week as the full Starrcade card will be announced!
