12/11/96 - O'Neill Center Danbury, CT
"Mean"Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to the O'Neill Center in Danbury, Connecticut for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! Before hying tonight's card, the first talk about events on last week's show including Tully Blanchard and Scott Taylor coming to the aide of William Regal after a vicioous beatdown by the Mexi-Kings, Ron Simmons and Randy Savage attacking the Million Dollar Corporation; and ECW Champion "The Long Island Loud-Mouth" Chris Jericho's match with...
But just then they're cut off as "Thunderkiss '65" by White Zombie erupts through the arena and "The Long Island Loud-Mouth" Chris Jericho emerges from the back! He heads down to the ring tells all the fans here in Danbury not to worry; because the Eastern Heavyweight Champion is here! He complains that last week what should have been his victory celebration got cut short by that bum from Yonkers; Tommy Dreamer! But that's good for the people here in the O'Neill Center because there's no reason why the festivities can't commence right here tonight ba-by!
Except for the fact "White Train" by Tito & Tarantula hits! And out from the back comes ECW President Eric Bischoff who has Tully Blanchard and Scott Taylor in tow! He apologizes to Jericho, because he.... hates to interrupt "The Loud-Mouth;" especially on such an auspicious occasion; but as we all know when "Easy E" is out here it can only mean one thing. And that's business is at hand! And that business is that tonight the ECW Champion Chris Jericho will have another match with...
WHAT?! Jericho doesn't like this at all! He tells "All-Ass" Eric Bischoff that he's tired! He's already fought two Chumps in two weeks! First that has-been Arn Anderson and last week Tommy Dreamer. So he's sorry; but he's simply not facing that good for nothing never-been Scott Taylor again tonight! Not gonna happen!
Eric tells Chris to calm down. Because he's right. He's not fighting Scott Taylor tonight. Instead he's fighting Tully Blanchard! Jericho doesn't like this news at all and throws a fit in the ring as Eastern Championship takes it's first...
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Tag-Team Match: The Mexi-Kings w/ Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs. Sex & Violence
Referee: Danny Davis
Michele Starr starts things off with "Latino" Heat Eddie Guerrero and fares surprisingly well against him early on. He makes the mistake of getting a bit too "touchy, feely" after a roll-up however and Guerrero goes crazy on him beating him around the ring as the "Gorgeous One" shreiks and desperately makes it to his corner for the tag! Eddie wants the "mariposa" back in the ring; but Joe E. Legend doesn't oblige him and clocks him from behind! He beats Eddie down for a bit before whipping him into the ropes; but on the rebound Guerrero takes him down with a hurrancanrana! And he makes the tag to Shawn Hernandez!
And as Legend gets up to his feet Hernandez takes Legend down hard with his slingshot shoulder block into the ring! He makes the cover but only gets a two. From there the two big men pound one another around the ring with each of them getting some decent offense in until Hernandez lays Joe out with a Spinebuster before making the tag to Eddie Guerrero who hits the Frog Splash for the win!
After the match Michele Starr attempts to sneak out the back door, but Chavo Guerrero catches him with a European (or is that Mexican?) uppercut before joining the Mexi-Kings in the ring to celebrate.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Back from break voodoo drums begin to sound, the lights go dark; and a weird spotlight scans the arena as Circus music begins to play?! And out from the back comes "The Dark Prophet" Brimstone who has "The Ring Master" Matt Borne and Pogo the Clown in tow! He tells us all that "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango is no more! And that the Dark Circle has been wrested from the very foundations of this company. And before you stand the victors of one of the most brutal matches ever witnessed before man. And that brutality will continue unabetted; that carnage will be wrought down upon the non-believers; because "The Dark Prophet" Brimstone and his followers are back.
Match: Cousin Jamie w/ Doug Gilbert vs. Rob Van Dam
Referee: S.D. Jones
Cousin Jamie with some outside interference from Doug Gilbert holds his own against "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam who besides hitting the Rolling Thunder and a spinning heel kick on Jamie; also hits a moonsault to the outside on both of the Bayou Boys! In the end he polishes Cousin Jamie off with the 5-Star Frog Splash.

Backstage Rob Van Dam meets up with "Ravishing" Rick Rude who congratulates him on his win and tells him how amazing some of his moves were. of course, that isn't nothing compared to what "The Ravishing One" is about to do.
Match: Rick Rude vs. Brian Christopher w/ Jacqueline Moore
Referee: Danny Davis
"Too Cool" Brian Christopher goes right after Rick Rude and gets in some good offense including a superkick and the Hip Hop guillotine legdrop; both of which gets him a two count. "The Ravishing One" gives better than he gets however with several suplexes, a diving knee drop; and finally the Rude Awakening delayed hangman's neckbreaker which gets him the win.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
"Mean" Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut! They tells us that while tickets for the show are sold out, those folks at home should tune in right here on Eastern Championship's home station of TNN The National Network to catch all the action live! Tag-Team Match: Tommy Dreamer & Dustin Rhodes vs. The Ubermensch
Referee: S.D. Jones
Dustin Rhodes starts things off with Aryan von Raschke in this one and the two men beat the hell out of one another. Though "The American Nightmare" seems to be getting the better of it; a Tornado DDT from Aryan takes it's toll and Rhodes is looking for a tag. Takes him a while to get it; but when he does "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer turns Von Raschke inside out with a clothesline! He is handing Aryan a beating as he cuts him off from his corner when...
World's Finest show up on the ramp? Rob Van Dam and Rick Rude swagger on down to the ring where they begin chatting up Beulah McGillicutty! And capitalizing on the distraction, Aryan grabs Dreamer from behind and nails him with a side Russian legsweep! And makes the tag to The Blitzkrieg! "Mangler's Monster" comes in charged up, taking Dreamer down to the mat with a double dose of clotheslines before pulling him up to his feet and connects with the Muscle Buster for the win! The Ubermensch are now the # 1 Contenders!
Meanwhile on the outside Dustin Rhodes is busy ordering Rude and RVD to back off before Rob turns his attention back to the match they've just lost. You mad bro?
COMMERCIAL BREAK
The Million Dollar Corporation is out in the ring and "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase reminds us that last week he claimed he had a special reward for the two men with him tonight Alex Porteau and "Mr. Wrestling" Steve Corino, two men who helped ensure the Eastern States Championship stayed where it rightfully belongs at Wrestle Annual! He then asks the beautiful "Million Dollar Dame" Dawn Marie to bring a briefcase to him and she lays it on a table that's been set up. DiBiase is grinning like the Cheshire Cat as he opens it and produces two diamond encrusted Titles which he hands over to Corino and Porteau whom he dubs his Million Dollar Champions! The two men ogle the belts which surely must be worth a fortune when...
"Pomp and Circumstance" hits bringing out "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Ron Simmons; and Debbie Combs! More like "Million Dollar Suck-ups!" Ron calls out and tells them that neither one of them is a Champion. Because neither of them won a damn thing!
Ooooh Yeah! "Mach" Man agrees telling them that in order to be a Champion; you've got to pin a Champ-e-on! Yeah! And well, Simmons and Savage are both former Champions! So he challenges them to face them in a Tag-Team match for those belts right here next week! Dig it!
Ted DiBiase seems to want no part of it and is on his way to telling them so when... Steve Corino snatches the mic from DiBiase's hand?! He tells Randy and Ron that they're on! Is he nuts?!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Match: Devon Hughes w/ Spike Hughes vs. Scott Taylor w/ Tully Blanchard
Referee: Danny Davis
When big Devon Hughes gets his hands on Scott Taylor this one gets messy. Luckily for Taylor it isn't just a punching contest and he hangs in there as Devon hits the 360 degree corkscrew back elbow smash and a Spinebuster in the middle of the ring that almost puts him away for the three! Scott Taylor continually rallies back throughout the match however as Tully Blanchard cheers him on. He hits the high-angle Chop Drop off the top for a two count, and gets a second with a Superkick. Finally however Scott Taylor manages to pick up the win when he ducks a clothesline thrown by Devon Hughes and rolls him up in a small package! He and Tully celebrate after the match.
The announcers talk about how Prince Nana attacked Buck Zumhoff on his show Slammin' Saturdays! when he was a guest; and replay the clip. Tonight Buck will be looking for some revenge.
Match: Buck Zumhoff vs. Prince Nana
Referee: S.D. Jones
"Rock 'N Roll" Buck Zumhoff is pissed, which gives him the edge early on as he takes the fight right to the Ghanan Prince! He drops him with several dropkicks before hitting the "Rocking and Rolling" springboard DDT for the 1!... 2!...
Prince Bananas (according to Lanny) kicks out! Zumhoff keeps on Bandoh, but when he charges in for a clothesline in the corner, Prince Nana gets his boot up and clocks Buck in the gut; following it up with a bulldog and a two count! Buck battles back, but Prince Nana keeps control and after hitting a body avalanche on Buck in the corner he hits a double underhook suplex for the three count.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening. This talk about the ECW Champion "The Long Island Loud-Mouth" Chris Jericho who won the Title at Wrestle Annual III from "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson! Tonight he fights Anderson's best friend and Four Horsemen partner Tully Blanchard. To say that Blanchard has a score to settle with Jericho is an understatement.
Gertner: The following non-Title contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from San Antonio, Texas weighing 225 lbs.; Tully Blanchard!
Blanchard comes down to the ring and shakes hands with referee Danny Davis. "Thunderkiss '65" by White Zombie then hits.
Gertner: And now introducing at this time from Manhasset, New York weighing 226 lbs.; he is the Eastern Heavyweight Champion; "The Long Island Loud-
Mouth" Chris Jericho!
Main Event: Chris Jericho vs. Tully Blanchard
Referee: Danny Davis
Tully Blanchard looks pretty determined as he circles the ring with Chris Jericho who seems incapable of shutting his mouth. Just then however "The Loud-Mouth" charges across the ring with a clothesline! But Tully ducks it and unloads with the punches! He drives Chris into the corner and unloads with some kicks and the Champion is in trouble! He stomps the hell out of him before Davis pulls him back. Chris meanwhile crawls around the ring and Tully goes back to stomping him out before pulling him to his feet and lets him have it with several Flair-style Chops! Jericho is hung up on the ropes, but Tully pulls him off and whips him across the ring connecting with a huge back body drop! And as Chris stumbles back up to his feet he's taken right back down to the mat with a dropkick! Jericho crawls up to one knee, but Blanchard is right there and sets him up for a suplex. Chris fights out with a low kick and goes for a suplex of his own; but Tully slides out lands behind him and locks in another! Chris is fighting it though and Blanchard begins clubbing him on the back of the head! He then runs the ropes and hits Chris with a dropkick to the back that sends him stumbling right out of the ring to the floor below!
And climbing out after him Tully sits on Jericho and begins pounding his head in! Davis pulls him off and orders him back into the ring. But Blanchard isn't done and whips the Champ into the steel barricade before rolling him back inside.
Chris is right back up however and though favoring his injured arm a bit, lets Tully have it with several kicks and chops when he re-enters the ring. He whips Tully, but Blanchard puts on the brakes and hammers Chris in the face! He then throws him into the corner where Jericho begs him off! His pleas fall on deaf ears however and Tully pulls him to his feet and throws him with an Irish Whip! But Jericho with a quick go-behind locks him around the waist! And Tully fights him with several back elbows! He then runs the ropes and charges back in! But Jericho hits a flapjack hangman into the top rope! And running the ropes follows it up with a running senton on Blanchard! Chris catches a breather whilw the fans boo him. He answers them with a basement dropkick to the head of the still downed Tully Blanchard! He then asks them if they liked that?! He then pulls Tully up to his feet and hits him with a delayed vertical suplex. Jericho now in control and feeling more confident swaggers over to Blanchard, steps on him and poses for the pin! 1!... 2!..
Blanchard kicks out! And he sits up, only to get kicked back down by the Champ. He then pulls Tully up to his feet and throws him back down with a front powerslam before signaling for the Lionsault! And it connects! Right into the knee of Blanchard! Both men are down, but as they crawl to their feet Chris is quick to grab himself a headlock. Tully however battles out and the two men throw punches and kicks as they get back to their feet. Chris sets Blanchard up for a pumphandle slam; but he slides out again and goes for a suplex! Chris blocks it however and goes for one of his own. The two men grapple back and forth until Chris kicks him in the gut and nails him with a backbreaker over his knee! He then grabs Tully by the legs! He's going for the Walls of Jericho!
But Tully grabs Jericho's leg and he counters with the figure four leglock! Jericho's screaming in pain! But he's too close to the ropes and breaks the hold!
Chris rolls out to catch a breather, but Tully isn't having it and grabs "The Loud-Mouth" by the hair over the top rope. But Jericho reaches in and pulls Blanchard's legs out from under him before climbing the turnubuckle from the outside! And as Tully gets to his feet he lets him have it with a flying back elbow! And the cover! 1!... 2!...
Blanchard kicks out just before the 3! Chris can't believe it and bullying Tully into the corner slaps him in the face! He does it again! And again! He then goes for a whip, but Tully reverses! And charging in Blanchard... catches a boot to the face! Chris comes in with a punch, Tully blocks and hammers home one of his own! And another! The two men are slugging it out around the ring! Blanchard hammers Chris into the corner and rearing back charges in! But Jericho dodges and throws Tully facee first into the turnbuckle! He then lifts him up and sits him on the top turnbuckle. He's throwing some punches as he climbs up to with Blanchard. But Tully fights back and throws Chris down to the canvas! He then leaps off and connects with a diving knee drop! And staggers over to Jericho he grabs his legs and is looking fot the figure four! But Chris Jericho grabs Tully Blanchard and pulls him down to the mat where he counters with the Walls of Jericho! Tully is screaming in pain but inching his way toward the ropes!
And he's right there! When Chris drags him back into the ring and sits on him adding some pressure! And Tully taps! Chris Jericho has won it!
Lights Fade.
