RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE’S BOMBTRACK blasts as the camera pans across a crazy capacity crowd on the campus of WVU go Mountaineers!
Tony Schiavone and the Living Legend Larry Zbyszko welcome everyone to the opening hour of Nitro. We are just 4 days removed from one of the most memorable Clash of Champions in recent memory. We crowned brand new Unified Tag Team Champions of the World, and many fans believe it was a long time coming, we will hear from the Steiners later in this very broadcast. Also, we crowned the first ever Cruiserweight Champion of the World as Dean Malenko defeated Shinjiro Ohtani in a wrestling match for the ages, and when we say of the World, that is exactly what we mean! Not only does the Cruiserweight limit of 225 give Light, Junior, and Mid-Heavyweight competitors a common ground to determine the best, but this championship is recognized in the United States, in Canada, in Mexico, in Germany, in the United Kingdom, in Japan, New Zealand, and Australia as well…
SONNY OH-NO as Larry Legend calls him comes to the desk and interrupts the opening to Nitro! Zbyszko references his past with Onoo in ACW, and the man has some of the best business connections on the Planet Earth, but he is one annoying little…… “Hey hey hey! Watch mouth Legend! Ohtani-san was cheated at Clash, he should be Cruiserweight Champion now! We no come here from Orient to be cheated! We no relinquish Grand Prix championship for this! Malenko will pay! You, let him know to find a partner, he have match with Ohtani-san and Kid Dynamite, tonight! Hahahahaha”
Match 1
The Shooting Stars, Billy Kidman and Ace Darling, teamed up with Mikey Whipwreck to take on Alpha, Beta, and Omega; The Galaxians in a fast paced opener. The masked trio held their own against 3 of WCW’s youngest, brightest stars, but the sensational Shooting Star Press from Billy Kidman was more than Omega could withstand…

We return from break and a very pleased, “Perfect” Heavyweight Champion of the World, Curt Hennig says that at the Clash of Champions when Ric Flair signed that contract to challenge for the World Title at Starrcade, he signed his own death warrant, and the Champ proved that in Milwaukee. Ric Flair has main evented so many matches in the Greensboro, main evented so many Starrcade’s, well all you ham and eggers need to make sure you buy a ticket or order exclusively on pay-per-view, because it will be the last event that Ric Flair ever main event’s, and what could be a more perfect ending than that?
Match 2
Lance Storm went one on one with Mr. Bad Attitude, Chuck Haas, and the youngster from Seton Hall University took it to the former champion in the early going, but those lessons learned in the Dungeon in Calgary, Alberta, Canada paid off allowing Lance Storm to keep his momentum rolling after planting Haas with his patent Corkscrew Brainbuster
After the contest Mauro Ranallo is joined by World Television Champion Diamond Dallas Page who discusses his match with Beautiful Bobby at the Clash of Champions. Page says that he never meant to disrespect Eaton, and that Page has always admired his wrestling ability. He also says that while he wasn’t surprised by the tenacity Eaton came at him with, he was damn proud that Bobby came to him face to face, like a man, trying to prove himself one more time. How dare Col. Parker and Meng do that man that way! Page hopes the Tongan remembers what it felt like to have his coconut dropped on the concrete, courtesy of the most dangerous move in all of Pro Wrestling, the Diamond Cutter, because it won’t be the last time that Meng FEEL’S. THE. BAAAAANG!
SELF HI FIVE
Match 3
Rough and rugged veteran Kendall Windham was awaiting the champ in the ring, and gave DDP all he could handle in this contest, even picking up a near fall after his Bulldog Headlock. Page was able to fight his way back into the contest and continue his winning ways after hitting the Diamond Cutter.
HERE COMES THE TONGAN TORTURE MACHINE! Meng blasts an unsuspecting DDP in the kidneys with a double palm thrust! He goes to set up the Tongan Spike, but…
HERE COMES BUBBA AND ANTHONY! The former tag champs have been hot on the trail of the Colonel and Meng all day! They blame them for the loss of the Unified Tag Team Titles, and have sworn revenge for their friend Bobby Eaton! Col. Parker grabs a double handful of Meng’s hair and drags his bodyguard off, but it’s clear that Meng was ready to take on both men!

We return from break to sheer chaos in the back! Mauro Ranallo is trying to talk over the screaming and shouting, and when we finally get to the middle of the fracas, TONY ANTHONY is lying on the concrete bleeding from the mouth! Ranallo asks Bubba what happened, and he says that he got hit over the head with something and before he knew what was going on Kendall Windham had him pinned down and Meng spiked the White Boy THREE TIMES! Bubba swears that if it’s the last thing he ever does he will get his hands on Meng, “and Colonel, once I finish with your monster, I will get my hands on you!” With that Bubba shoves the cameraman back as the AMBULANCE backs into the building and carries Tony to a local hospital…
Match 4
After the big Captain’s Fall, Elimination Six Man Tag at the Clash of Champions, Psychosis and La Parka wanted another piece of Christian and Lenny, the Highlight Express, and that is exactly what they got. In an all-action tag team encounter full of crazy spots, each man gave a great accounting of himself, but in the end Christian was able to pin the Chairman of WCW, La Parka after connecting with his Frog Splash from the top rope.
Mauro Ranallo is now joined by WCW’s franchise player, the Stinger, who has plenty on his mind. He knows that fans have to be getting tired of his up and down relationship with Lex Luger, and Sting really doesn’t want to keep Groundhog Day going, but he is really tired of Luger taking it upon himself to decide what Sting’s next move is going to be. That being said, Lex is still a friend of Sting’s, and he won’t stand around and watch him be attacked two on one…
“Stinger, stinger, stinger, let me stop you right there…” interrupts the Total Package. Lex says that he should’ve talked things over with him first, but with Ric and Curt wrestling for the World title, and Sting’s good buddy Ricky Steamboat holding the US title, Lex wanted to do something special for Sting since Sting has stood by his side from Day 1. Lex wants to thank Sting by once again becoming World Tag Team Champions, the Stinger knows that when he and Lex are on the same page, there isn’t a tag team in the World that can stop them, and now that Ricky and Scotty have the titles, how great would it be to have a rematch of one of the greatest tag team matches of all-time, how great would it be to avenge that loss from Superbrawl I? What do you say, Stinger?
But before Sting can answer,
BOOKER T. and STEVIE RAY hit the scene and totally lay a beatdown on Sting and Lex! They throw lefts and rights at them, and toss them into the steel guard railing as well as the staging area, it’s a wild scene! Booker T. delivers dueling Harlem Sidekicks to Sting and Luger dropping the former World Champions like a ton of bricks. Stevie grabs the mic and says, “you two fruity booty’s better stop worrying about the Steiner sissy’s and getcha minds right.” Booker T. takes the mic, and after telling a few Sting fans at ringside to shut up he says that Sting and Luger won’t ever be Tag Champs, “now can all you hillbillies dig that? Suckas.”

We return from break to see a familiar face with Mauro
Sullivan takes the mic from Mauro and says that his services are not required. Kevin Sullivan has returned from a bit of Soul Searching, and has found what was missing, that’s right. And Ricky Steamboat’s time has come! The Dragon has been more like a lizard in recent months, and is the luckiest champion in the illustrious United States’ championship’s history. And next week Dragon, The Gamesmaster makes his first move. Checkmate comes at Starrcade, so be ready Steamboat, be ready!
Mauro throws it back Tony Schiavone and the American Dream Dusty Rhodes who rundown what has gone on in tonight’s telecast, and set up the main event. There has been no word from the back on who will be the Cruiserweight champion’s partner as Dean Malenko prepares to take on his Clash of Champions opponent Shinjiro Ohtani, and his partner, ‘Kid Dynamite’ Koji Kanemoto. As Malenko’s music hits, he comes down the aisle alone; Duthtay says that the ‘Lone Wolf’ is certainly living up to his moniker tonight!
MAIN EVENT
Shinjiro Ohtani and Koji Kanemoto had wide smiles on their face as they prepared to take on Dean Malenko in what was apparently going to be a handicap match, but before they could lock up, some music hits, and down the ramp comes
It’s the former champion Lance Storm, who has already wrestled once tonight, has apparently taken it upon himself to team with the Cruiserweight Champion here in this main event! Malenko doesn’t bat an eye as Storm hops up into his corner; Malenko hops into action and takes the fight to Kanemoto! Malenko and Kid Dynamite go back and forth in an entertaining exchange. Storm cheers his partner on from the corner, but Dean just stares a hole right through him, even ignores him when Lance asks for the tag. Koji and Ohtani work like a well-oiled machine but Malenko and Storm can’t get on the same page. Things aren’t looking so good for them as we head into the last commercial break…

We return from break and Lance Storm is really taking it to Ohtani! Even makes his own save as Kanemoto runs in. As Storm dumps Kanemoto to the floor, he lifts Ohtani up for the Corkscrew Brainbuster; Malenko makes the blind tag, BOOM! Storm plants Ohtani and makes the cover, but Nick Patrick won’t count it. Malenko replaces him and locks in the Texas Cloverleaf. Storm is pissed as he goes to exit the ring, but Kanemoto takes his mind right off that as he Superkicks Storm in the temple and sends him flying into Malenko breaking up the Cloverleaf! Malenko is quickly to his feet, waistlock, goes behind Kanemoto, GERMAN SUPLEX AT THE ROPES SEND KANEMOTO DOWN TO THE FLOOR! Ohtani is up and tries to deliver a kick to Malenko, but the Cruiserweight Champion catches it! LEG TRAPPED OVER HEAD THROW! He gets behind Ohtani again, CORKSCREW BRAINBUSTER BY MALENKO??!!? 1……..2……..3!!
Dean Malenko has pinned Ohtani with Lance Storm’s finisher, stares a hole into Storm as he leaves the scene…
Schiavone and Dusty talk about what a fantastic contest we’ve just witnessed, and my oh my, what about that tension between Dean Malenko and Lance Storm? We are on the road to Starrcade 96: Homecoming available only on pay-per-view on 12/22, fans don’t you dare miss next week’s Nitro, SO LONG EVERYBODY!
