Mantell demands to speak! Ross reluctantly interviews him:

BUDDY LANDELL v BOB BACKLUND
Landell walks down to the ring with his trusty rulebook and sets it on the timekeeper’s table. wrestles a clean match, and even shakes Backlunds hand after each exchange, but the fans aren’t buying it and I don’t think Backlund is either.
Look! Landell even gets into the referees position at one point, offers to be on the bottom! Backlund warily accepts and the clean, scientific wrestling continues but then at the 8:10 mark Landell and Backlund fly out of the ring, as the ref checks on Backlund, Landell takes his rule book, and slides it into the ring, Backlund catches up to him, and throws him in the ring, and this allows Landell to face plant Backlund right into the book right as he climbs into the ring! Landell covers Backlund as the ref stares back and forth at the book, the ref counts the three count, but then picks up the book and questions Landell on it. Landell take the book, and points to a page in it, and the ref shrugs his shoulders! Landell is awarded the match, and bails before a stunned Backlund can gather his senses and get revenge!

JUNKYARD DOG V BOB ORTON JR w/Ken Mantell
JYD gives Orton all he can handle and Orton starts to roughhouse, but is told to back off by Ken Mantell! Orton doesn’t like that one bit, but obeys his orders, and tries his best to wrestle clean. A few more times he gets rough with the Dog, but Mantell tells him to back off each time and Orton and Mantell start bickering back and forth. JYD takes advantage of this distraction to catch Orton in a schoolboy for the pin at 11:15. After the match, Orton and Mantell argue all the way back to the dressing room. Why is Mantell holding Orton back?

HACKSAW DUGGAN V TERRY GORDY
This is a big impact match with both men delivering big hits, slams powerbombs and suplexes to one another, making one wonder whether the SuperDome is big enough to handle such high impact action! At the 7 minute mark, Oh Boy what is this, BUDDY ROBERTS is at ringside and ends up tripping Hacksaw just as he is about to power slam Gordy, Hacksaw leaves the ring and gives chase, and down the aisle its MICHAEL HAYES WITH A FLYING FIST INTO DUGGAN's KISSER! The ref was distracted by Gordy, and Hayes and Roberts throw Duggan’s carcass into the ring, Gordy covers, no no NOT LIKE THIS, 1-2-3!!!! All three Freebirds then circle Duggan like vultures when what is this?

WAIT! COMING DOWN THE AISLE:
MAGNUM TA! THE FREEBIRDS SEE HIM, AND LEAVE THE RING, AND ARE SO SCARED THEY CLIMB INTO THE SEATS TO GET AWAY FROM MAGNUM! Magnum then goes back into the ring and he and Tiger Conway Jr who is also no on the scene check on Duggan, who shakes off the sucker punch and stomps around the ring, challenging the Freebirds to come back and take their licking!

ANGELO MOSCA, KILLER KHAN AND BOB ORTON JR, with Ken Mantell in tow, they slide into the ring, beat up Andre and tie him up into the ropes!!!! There's no need for this!
Ken Mantell grabs the house mike!
“ERNIE LADD, this man just humiliated you in front of all of these people. And earlier tonight, he humiliated ME in front of all these people, as well! The way I see it, that makes us oppinent of a common enemy. I say this, Ladd, I’m taking the money I offered that idiot over there and OFFERING IT TO YOU to work for the Mantell Corporation! WHAT DO YOU SAY, DO WE HAVE A DEAL?
MANTELL points to Andre, trapped in the ropes! It’s a free shot for Ladd! And a chance for revenge and big money, and look at Ladd, he is grinning from ear to ear, and shaking his head YES! ERNIE LADD IS GOING TO JOIN THE MANTELL CORPORATION!

Ah I loving writing battle royales SOOO much, here we go. Among early exits are Troy Graham, Rickie Lee Vaughn, Tiger Chung Lee, Al Perez and the perpetually hapless Butcher Vachon. John Tatum, Larry Sharpe, Randy Rose and Shane Douglas are dumped out next Hacksaw Duggan and Terry Gordy tear into each other, and both eventually eliminate each other and brawl outside the ring!
Lets take a look at our field after a few minutes:

Backlund has been chasing Landell, but that ends when Orton throws Backlund across the ring and Landell drapes over ropes, no turkey for Bob Backlund! Backlund is incensed as Landell taunts him, and Backlund has to be escorted away! Landell spends the rest of the battle royale hiding in the corner, until MIKE DAVIS throws him out! But wait! Landell's second foot doesn’t touch the floor, and while the refs demand Landell out, he insists on the timekeeper give him his yellowed old-timey National Wrestling Association Rule Book, and argues with the refs that he is NOT eliminated, and finally the refs confer, but Landell takes ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD to get back into the ring as Mike Davis and Wendell Cooley are eliminated by Bob Orton Jr!

The fans are on their feet! Making this even more interesting is that Ken Mantell has offered Junkyard Dog all that money, but here we are if JYD wants that butterball turkey, he has to work with Tiger Conway Jr and eliminate Bob Orton Jr and Buddy Landell! JYD and Tiger go right after their foes, and while Junkyard Dog has Orton on the backfoot, Tiger slams Landell, then bounces off the ropes: LANDELL GRABS HIM, THEN THEY TUMBLE OVER THE ROPE, ONTO THE APRON, TIGER HITS THE FLOOR BUT ONCE AGAIN LANDELL IS SAVED, TIGER CONWAY JR IS OUT, AND LANDELL waits as Orton and JYD battle, it appears that Junkyard Dog has Orton draped over the top rope, when Landell comes over and Sundays Junkyard Dog, JUNKYARD DOG is eliminated!
Orton then talks to Landell, and seems to be offering to split the prize! He shakes Landells hand, and they raise each others hand in victory. Then Orton goes over to demand the turkey to be carved in half . . . .

LANDELL GETS BEHIND ORTON AND SCOOPS HIM OUT OF THE RING!!! WHAT A DOUBLE CROSS! ORTON IS INCENSED, AND HAS TO BE ESCORTED OUT OF THE RINGSIDE AREA AS THE REF HANDS LANDELL THE TURKEY!

BACKLUND SUNDAYS LANDELL, KNOCKS HIM SENSELESS AND TAKES THE TURKEY, AND THROWS IT ON THE ARENA FLOOR! Backlund then RIPS APART THE TURKEY, and pulls out THE BAGFUL OF MONEY!

AND STARTS THROWING IT TO THE FANS AT RINGSIDE AS BUDDY LANDELL WAKES UP FROM HIS STUPOR AND IS HORRIFIED TO SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING AND BEGS AND PLEADS FOR BACKLUND TO STOP, BUT ITS TOO LATE AS THE FANS STORM TO THE RINGSIDE AREA, GRABBING AT BUDDY LANDELL'S CASH AS BACKLUND MAKES IT RAIN*, AND FANS, I THINK BOB BACKLUND HAS GOT A SWEET MEASURE OF REVENGE AFTER BEING SCREWED NOT ONCE, NOT TWICE BUT THREE TIMES OVER BY MR. LANDELL!
*I'm not that dumb; I mixed in fives, one as well as confetti and concession coupons with about 10 one hundred dollar bills!

It’s a rough brutal match that sees the bigger men throw Funk and Brisco like rag dolls, but the smaller men have been around the block before, they know a LITTLE about defending titles against bigger men, you see, and they do very well by stymieing their gigantic foes with reverses, takedowns and other expert wrestling moves to keep them on the mat, and prevent Khan from using his martial arts or Mosca from using his football thug tactics. Things sad to say fall apart for our valiant veterans champions after Brisco falls out of the ring, and is chopped to smithereens by Khan, and Mosca destroys Funk with a running stampede, and covers Funk for the pin, 1-2- FUNK KICKS OUT BUT IS CLEARLY STUNNED! MOSCA STAMPEDED HIM AGAIN, COVERS 1-2- . . .

And now the moment we have all been waiting for fans, the first time ever Magnum TA gets a true chance in the ring to avenge his slap at the hands of Michael Hayes of the Freebirds, and folks, you almost have to wonder what Michael Hayes was thinking taking this match, yes it’s a shot at the North America title, but he’s about to get the taken to the woodshed! And the butt kicking starts early as Magnum throws Micheal around and punches and kicks him from pillar to post, then SLAPS HAYES, and Hayes falls through the ropes, and walks around ringside holding his kisser, looks for a timeout, BUT THERE ARE NO TIMEOUTS HERE AT THE KING OF SPORTS, MAGNUM GIVES CHASE AND SLAMS HAYES INTO THE RING APRON, AND THROWS HIM INTO THE RING, AND THE FANS LOVE IT!
Magnum enters the ring, a little bit of a mistake, Magnum let his emotions get the better of him as the cagey Freebird stomps on Magnums head as he slides in, and kicks, stomps and punches the champion and does a moonwalk and slams Magnum several times then picks him up by the hair, and slams his head into the turnbuckle:
MAGNUM NO–SELLS!
MAGNUM WAGS THE FINGER IN HAYES FACE AS HAYES BEGS FOR MERCY, ON HIS KNEES, BUT THERE WILL BE NO MERCY, HAYES TRIES TO STAKE A LOW BLOW, MAGNUM HAS HIS ARM, DRAGS HIM UP THEN THROWS HAYES DOWN TO THE MAT AND SNAPS HIS ARM AND HAYES IS IN A BAD WAY, DANCING AROUND THE RING IN AGONY, HOLDING HIS ARM, AND HIS SWOLLEN CHEEK AND LOOK AT THE STEELY EYES OF MAGNUM TA, HE IS ENJOYING HIS REVENGE HERE ON THANKSGIVING NIGHT IN NEW ORLEANS!!! MAGNUM THEN GETS ON TOP OF HAYES AND PUNCHES AT HIS FACE OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND HAS TO BE PULLED OFF BY THE REF, HAYES ROLLS OUT OF THE RING, AND then gets up:
MICHAEL HAYES IS BUSTED WIDE OPEN! WE'VE GOT BLOOD! WE'VE GOT BLOOD!
Hayes is desperate, and takes the timekeeper’s chair and DECKS MAGNUM WITH IT AS HE EXITS THE RING TO GIVE CHASE, THEN HAYES SMASHES MAGNUMS HEAD INTO THE TIMEKEEPERS TABLE! Hayes blows off the referee's warnings then throws Magnum into the ring, gets into the ring, and GIVES THE DDT SIGNAL TO THE FANS, and picks up Magnum but Magnum instead drives Hayes into the turnbuckle area, but Hayes knees Magnum in the face! Hayes with the advantage over the stunned North American Heavyweight champion with kicks punches, back rakes and rope burns to the eyes! Michael Hayes might not be the most courageous wrestler ever, but he does know now to fight and has a lot of tricks up his sleeve!
The fans chant Magnum! MAGNUM! But Hayes tells them to shut up, and against tries to go for the DDT, but this time Magnum holds onto Michaels leg, and Michael cant execute it so out of frustration Hayes throws Magnum to the mat, elbow drops him, SHAKES HIS HIPS drawing boos from the crowd, then off the ropes to do a knee drop:

MAGNUM ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY, HAYES MISSES! Hayes leaps up favoring his knee, as Magnum lifts up his arm and the fans are on their feet! Desperate, Hayes goes for a DDT, BUT HIS KNEE GOES OUT ON HIM, MAGNUM COVERS:

HACKSAW DUGGAN!!!! HACKSAW DUGGAN BATTLES GORDY AT RINGSIDE AND TRIES TO GET TO THE REF TO TELL HIM WHAT IS GOING ON, BUT BUDDY ROBERTS KICKS DUGGAN BEHIND THE KNEES AND THEY HOLD BACK DUGGAN AS THE REF COUNTS:

The fans offer Magnum TA polite applause, as he is able to leave the ring under his own power, despondent that he just lost face to the Freebirds in front of all these great fans! FANS, THANK YOU FOR COMING, AND HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WEEKEND!

JYD gives Orton all he can handle and Orton starts to roughhouse, but is told to back off by Ken Mantell! Orton doesn’t like that one bit, but obeys his orders, and tries his best to wrestle clean. A few more times he gets rough with the Dog, but Mantell tells him to back off each time and Orton and Mantell start bickering back and forth. JYD takes advantage of this distraction to catch Orton in a schoolboy for the pin at 11:15. After the match, Orton and Mantell argue all the way back to the dressing room. Why is Mantell holding Orton back?

This is a big impact match with both men delivering big hits, slams powerbombs and suplexes to one another, making one wonder whether the SuperDome is big enough to handle such high impact action! At the 7 minute mark, Oh Boy what is this, BUDDY ROBERTS is at ringside and ends up tripping Hacksaw just as he is about to power slam Gordy, Hacksaw leaves the ring and gives chase, and down the aisle its MICHAEL HAYES WITH A FLYING FIST INTO DUGGAN's KISSER! The ref was distracted by Gordy, and Hayes and Roberts throw Duggan’s carcass into the ring, Gordy covers, no no NOT LIKE THIS, 1-2-3!!!! All three Freebirds then circle Duggan like vultures when what is this?

Ah I loving writing battle royales SOOO much, here we go. Among early exits are Troy Graham, Rickie Lee Vaughn, Tiger Chung Lee, Al Perez and the perpetually hapless Butcher Vachon. John Tatum, Larry Sharpe, Randy Rose and Shane Douglas are dumped out next Hacksaw Duggan and Terry Gordy tear into each other, and both eventually eliminate each other and brawl outside the ring!
Lets take a look at our field after a few minutes:

Backlund is incensed as Landell taunts him, and Backlund has to be escorted away! Landell spends the rest of the battle royale hiding in the corner, until MIKE DAVIS throws him out! But wait! Landell's second foot doesn’t touch the floor, and while the refs demand Landell out, he insists on the timekeeper give him his yellowed old-timey National Wrestling Association Rule Book, and argues with the refs that he is NOT eliminated, and finally the refs confer, but Landell takes ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD to get back into the ring as Mike Davis and Wendell Cooley are eliminated by Bob Orton Jr!

The fans are on their feet! Making this even more interesting is that Ken Mantell has offered Junkyard Dog all that money, but here we are if JYD wants that butterball turkey, he has to work with Tiger Conway Jr and eliminate Bob Orton Jr and Buddy Landell! JYD and Tiger go right after their foes, and while Junkyard Dog has Orton on the backfoot, Tiger slams Landell, then bounces off the ropes: LANDELL GRABS HIM, THEN THEY TUMBLE OVER THE ROPE, ONTO THE APRON, TIGER HITS THE FLOOR BUT ONCE AGAIN LANDELL IS SAVED, TIGER CONWAY JR IS OUT, AND LANDELL waits as Orton and JYD battle, it appears that Junkyard Dog has Orton draped over the top rope, when Landell comes over and Sundays Junkyard Dog, JUNKYARD DOG is eliminated!
Orton then talks to Landell, and seems to be offering to split the prize! He shakes Landells hand, and they raise each others hand in victory. Then Orton goes over to demand the turkey to be carved in half . . . .

It’s a rough brutal match that sees the bigger men throw Funk and Brisco like rag dolls, but the smaller men have been around the block before, they know a LITTLE about defending titles against bigger men, you see, and they do very well by stymieing their gigantic foes with reverses, takedowns and other expert wrestling moves to keep them on the mat, and prevent Khan from using his martial arts or Mosca from using his football thug tactics. Things sad to say fall apart for our valiant veterans champions after Brisco falls out of the ring, and is chopped to smithereens by Khan, and Mosca destroys Funk with a running stampede, and covers Funk for the pin, 1-2- FUNK KICKS OUT BUT IS CLEARLY STUNNED! MOSCA STAMPEDED HIM AGAIN, COVERS 1-2- . . .

And now the moment we have all been waiting for fans, the first time ever Magnum TA gets a true chance in the ring to avenge his slap at the hands of Michael Hayes of the Freebirds, and folks, you almost have to wonder what Michael Hayes was thinking taking this match, yes it’s a shot at the North America title, but he’s about to get the taken to the woodshed! And the butt kicking starts early as Magnum throws Micheal around and punches and kicks him from pillar to post, then SLAPS HAYES, and Hayes falls through the ropes, and walks around ringside holding his kisser, looks for a timeout, BUT THERE ARE NO TIMEOUTS HERE AT THE KING OF SPORTS, MAGNUM GIVES CHASE AND SLAMS HAYES INTO THE RING APRON, AND THROWS HIM INTO THE RING, AND THE FANS LOVE IT!
Magnum enters the ring, a little bit of a mistake, Magnum let his emotions get the better of him as the cagey Freebird stomps on Magnums head as he slides in, and kicks, stomps and punches the champion and does a moonwalk and slams Magnum several times then picks him up by the hair, and slams his head into the turnbuckle:

MAGNUM WAGS THE FINGER IN HAYES FACE AS HAYES BEGS FOR MERCY, ON HIS KNEES, BUT THERE WILL BE NO MERCY, HAYES TRIES TO STAKE A LOW BLOW, MAGNUM HAS HIS ARM, DRAGS HIM UP THEN THROWS HAYES DOWN TO THE MAT AND SNAPS HIS ARM AND HAYES IS IN A BAD WAY, DANCING AROUND THE RING IN AGONY, HOLDING HIS ARM, AND HIS SWOLLEN CHEEK AND LOOK AT THE STEELY EYES OF MAGNUM TA, HE IS ENJOYING HIS REVENGE HERE ON THANKSGIVING NIGHT IN NEW ORLEANS!!! MAGNUM THEN GETS ON TOP OF HAYES AND PUNCHES AT HIS FACE OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND HAS TO BE PULLED OFF BY THE REF, HAYES ROLLS OUT OF THE RING, AND then gets up:MICHAEL HAYES IS BUSTED WIDE OPEN! WE'VE GOT BLOOD! WE'VE GOT BLOOD!
Hayes is desperate, and takes the timekeeper’s chair and DECKS MAGNUM WITH IT AS HE EXITS THE RING TO GIVE CHASE, THEN HAYES SMASHES MAGNUMS HEAD INTO THE TIMEKEEPERS TABLE! Hayes blows off the referee's warnings then throws Magnum into the ring, gets into the ring, and GIVES THE DDT SIGNAL TO THE FANS, and picks up Magnum but Magnum instead drives Hayes into the turnbuckle area, but Hayes knees Magnum in the face! Hayes with the advantage over the stunned North American Heavyweight champion with kicks punches, back rakes and rope burns to the eyes! Michael Hayes might not be the most courageous wrestler ever, but he does know now to fight and has a lot of tricks up his sleeve!
The fans chant Magnum! MAGNUM! But Hayes tells them to shut up, and against tries to go for the DDT, but this time Magnum holds onto Michaels leg, and Michael cant execute it so out of frustration Hayes throws Magnum to the mat, elbow drops him, SHAKES HIS HIPS drawing boos from the crowd, then off the ropes to do a knee drop:
