11/02/96 - Viking Hall Philadelphia, PA
"Rock 'N Roll" Buck Zumhoff and his co-host with Captain Lou Albano welcome us to the exciting season premier of ECW Slammin's Saturdays live from Viking Hall in Philadelphia, Pennssylvania! They then talk about the action-packed show they have lined up for us here tonight! Former ECW Women's Champion Beulah McGillicutty will be in action. Grrr. And the "Original Rock 'N Roller" will be interviewing the Bayou Boys!
Joel Gertner makes the intros and S.D. Jones officiates all matches.
Match: Beulah McGillicutty vs. Brandi Wine
Brandi Wine gives Beulah McGillicutty a tough fight this morning, but Beulah is all smiles after finishing her opponent off the the Beulahsault for the win.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
We're told by Cousin Jamie and Doug Gilbert; that the most important word that begins with the letter F is Family. F. A. M... er... Lee. Something they learned in the Mississippi Bayou from their uncle Hillybilly Jim and cousins The Moondogs Spot and Cujo who're with them.
Tag-Team Match: The Bayou Boys vs. The Wiseguys
The Bayou Boys don't have their relations with them at ringside, but it doesn't make a difference. Though The Wiseguys Jimmy Cicero and Guido Falcone give them a tough time, Cousin Jamie and "The Redneck Rebel" Doug Gilbert hit Cicero with a double dose of Dosey Does before Gilbert nails him with the Hot Shot flapjack dropped into a hangman for the win.
After the match we're brought the the Slammin' Saturdays set where Buck Zumhoff is flying solo. He says that the antics of his next two guests have made them fan-favorites here in ECW and welcomes The Bayou Boys Cousin Jamie and Doug Gilbert!
Jamie tells Buck that his grandmama collects "antics" and he's too young to be one. Buck isn't sure how to respond to that. He then says that he hears that the Boys are here to teach the kids about another culture today and Doug tells us oh yeah, they're hear to talk about the Amish! Zumhoff once again isn't sure how to respond and tells Gilbert that he and Jamie don't look Amish. Well that's because they ain't "stooopid!" But there Cousin Roadkill sho' is! The Bayou Boys have an Amish cousin named Roadkill? Roadkill?! Sure! What's wrong with a name like that! Better than Buck! Hehe.
They then play a vignette for the kids where The Bayou Boys are waiting for the train, but instead a horsedrawn carriage draws up?! And on it is their Uncle Jebediah! (played by none other than Weird Al Yankovic?!) Roadkill who is driving stays on the cart while Uncle Jeb introduces himself.
Doug spits on his hand before holding out his hand and Jeb know longer looks like he wants to shake it. They then bring the Boys to their farm where they're impressed that there tharn are Womenfolk before learning how to live an Amish life as they fail to churn butter, raise a roof; or feed the sheep. Just what is Cousin Jamie doing with that sheep anyway? Finally they're told to go kill a chicken for supper, but when they enter the barn Roadkill is already there and has strangled a chicken already with his bare hands! "Chicken!" he grins sadistically at the Bayou Boys who turn tail and run across the farm having had enough of Amish life.
Buck and the kids seem stunned by this last part and he um... thanks the Bayou Boys for this unique lesson about the Amish. he Bayou Boys tell 'em that it was fun and Doug shakes Buck's hand. Zumhoff then goes to shake Cousin Jamie's hand but Gilbert stops him and tells them that "we um... don't shake Jamie's hand."
The camera then cuts to a "Rocking 'N Rolling" segment where The Honky Tonk Man tells us to keep the theme going he's going to invite the kids at home to party with "Weird Al" Yanokic and his hit single "Amish Paradise!"
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Welcoming us back from the last commercial break of the evening Buck Zumhoff and Captain Lou Albano bring us back in time for the Wrestling Rewind Main Event all the way back from January 25th of last year when "Macho Man" Randy Savage squared off with then and current ECW Champion "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson in non-Title action!
Main Event: Randy Savage vs. Arn Anderson
The second Arn Anderson steps foot inside the ring Randy Savage is on him with the boots! As Arn gets to his feet Randy hammers him into the corner while Danny Davis starts the match. Grabbing Savage by the head AA reverses their positions and nails "Macho Man" with several shoulder thrusts in the corner before attempting a whipe. Randy grabs hold of the top rope to stop himself, kicks him in the gut and drops Anderson with a couple hard rights. He begins kicking the downed Champ before lifting the big man to his feet and running him across the ring; dumps him on the outside! Following Arn outside Randy beats on the Champ as he tries to regain his footing with the guardrail. He slams AA face first into the guardrail before gouging his eyes a bit earning the ire of the ref; and finally lifting Arn to his feets slams him face first into the guardrail. Savage is on fire as he kicks and punches Arn on the outside; pausing only to break the Count Out. Lifting "The Enforcer" back to his feet Randy rolls his opponent back inside the ring. AA is back up and hits Savage with a double axe-handle as he reenters. Keeping his edge he beats Randy about the ring before going for the Irish whip. But Randy reverses and goes for the back body drop. Too early as Arn counters with a sunset flip! Savage doesn't go over however and keeping his footing "Macho Man" reaches down and begins beating Arn down until Arn throws him off. Randy is undeterred however and grabbing Arn as he gets to his feet whips him across the ring and connects with an inverted Atomic Drop! As Anderson catches a breather on the ropes Randy comes in with a running clothesline. The weary Arn ducks it however but while he is still recovering Savage goes up top and drops the ECW Champ with a double axe-handle before making the cover.
Close two count. Lifting him up he chokes Arn against the top rope for a bit before whipping him into the ropes and knocks "The Enforcer" off his feet with a back elbow. He makes the cover getting another two before lifting Arn up and hammering him into the corner and starts to choke him out until Davis steps between them. This give Arn Anderson the breather he needed and stalking Randy he kicks him in the gut before dropping him to the mat with an armbreaker. This looks to have hurt Savage's arm as keeping on him Arn grabs it and forces it against the ropes getting his own warning from the ref. Then dragging "Macho Man" to the center of the ring in an armwrench; he pulls him close and hits him with a scoop slam. Randy rolls on the floor in pain as AA puts the boots to him; but the savvy Savage rolls outside. Not done with him Arn is in hot pursuit. It's obvious Randy was playing a bit of possum however as he turns about and kicks Anderson in the gut before running him into the guardrail and heading back to the ring. A bit dazed Arn follows only with get hit by another clubbing double axe handle and he reenters. AA seems unphased as he grabs Savage by the same arm and pulls him over with an armdrag he then transitions into an armbar! Randy screams in pain but refuses to quit as Arn tears at his arm; occasionally leaping up from a kneeling position to drive his knees into Randy's exposed limb. Randy rolls free and backs away but Arn keeps on him with a shot to the gut. Grabbing Randy's arm Anderson leaps down to the mat taking Savage down with him. He's really working his opponent over as he drags him toward the ropes and slides out of the ring. Still having hold of Randy's arm Arn hammers it against the steel post! Climbing back inside the ECW Champ locks in a chicken-wing armbar as Randy screams in pain.
Sweat is pouring down his face as Arn attempts to make him submit. Randy seems to be in tears when from behind Debbie Combs grabs Anderson's boot! Arn doesn't let go however as the ref yells at her. But it's just the opening Randy needs to slip out just enough to punch Anderson in the face. He fires again and again causing AA to release the hold! Back on his feet Randy hammers Anderson into the corner. It's obvious Savage is hurting and he stops to rub his arm. AA attacks with a clubbing blow before whipping Randy into the corner. He charges in but Randy leaps up and kicks "The Enforcer" in the face! He tries again only to once again taste boot. This time "Macho Man" goes for the kill and swings for the clothesline! Arn ducks it and nails the DDT! This is it! It takes Anderson a little too long to make the pin and Savage gets his foot up on the bottom rope at 2!
He thinks he's won it; but the ref shows him the leg on the rope. Moving back to his opponent the ECW Champ hits a knee drop before grinding it into Randy's face. The ref stops him and Arn lifts him up catching Savage in a front headlock. "Macho Man" pushes himself free however knocking Anderson into Danny Davis. He's clumsy tonight. Debbie Combs is in the ring? And she back rakes Arn Anderson! Luckily Scott Taylor is there to make the save as she screams for him not to touch her. He chases her out of the ring. Randy is up and lets Arn have it! As he reels from the punch Arn Anderson soon finds himself hoisted up into the air and nailed with a pildriver! Davis is back up just in time to deliver the three count! Savage defeated Anderson! He celebrates inside the ring with Debbie Combs.
Lights Fade.

COMMERCIAL BREAK
Back from break ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels is in front of the ECW Banner with "The Machiavellan Mauler" Mongo Vyle. He talks about how he's through with his former partner "The Man-Beast." He's going to end his motherlovin' career!

COMMERCIAL BREAK
Zumhoff and HTM welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event! They talk about the inner turmoil within the Dark Circle of late including "The Machiavellan Mauler" Mongo Vyle walking out on the group. He tried to get his Destruction Inc. partner "The Man-Beast" Rhino to tag along, but Rhino wouldn't budge and this past Wednesday went on to attack Mongo before his match! Vyle still went on to compete, but lost possibly due to the injuries sustained by The Gore striking spear. Tonight Mongo Vyle and Rhino will face one another and this one should prove bloody as anything goes because there are No Disqualifications!
Gertner: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with No Disqualifications! Introducing first from Hell's Kitchen, New York weighing 326 lbs.; he is "The Machiavellan Mauler" Mongo Vyle!
"Fuckin' Hostile" by Pantera hits and Mongo hits the ring. He looks like he is still a bit off from his match this past Wednesday. Just then the lights go out, mist fills the arena; and voodoo drums begin to pound. Up on the ramp "The Man-Beast" Rhino appears with the remainder of the Dark Circle!
Gertner: And now introducing his opponent this evening from Detroit, Michigan weighing 270 lbs. and accompanied to the ring by the Dark Circle he is "The Man-Beast" Rhyno!
Main Event: Mongo Vyle vs. Rhino w/ Papa Shango
Honky wonders if Mongo realizes a No DQ match may have been a mistake as Papa Shango and Barry Windham accompany Rhino down to the ring. Mongo is preoccupied yelling at Shango and Windham to back off which costs him early on as "The Man-Beast" goes for the Gore striking spear early and begins pounding the hell out of him on the mat! He dominates the early going, dropping him with a scoop powerslam and makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Vyle kicks out! Rhino puts the boots to him and face washes him on the bottom rope before pulling him up and setting up the Death Valley Driver! Mongo however fights his way out and rolls Rhino up for a two! Rhino kicks out however and jumps back up swinging! Mongo however gets the drop on him and begins hammering away driving him into the corner where he grabbing "The Beast" by the head and drops him with a cutter out of the corner! 1!... 2!...
Rhino powers out! Mongo begins beating on him, but Rhino fires off several shoulder thrusts to Vyle's already hurting gut. He then whips him into the ropes and chucks "The Mauler" with a huge belly to belly suplex before rolling out of the ring! On the outside he grabs a steel chair a fan was sitting on and yells for them to "Stand!" when they complain. He then heads toward the ring, but Mongo connects with a baseball slide driving the chair into Rhino's face! Vyle hops out of the ring and grabs the chair and raises it in the air!
Only to have it snatched away by Barry Windham! And "Blackjack" clobbers him with it! He then hits him again! Rhino is back up and takes the chair when offered it and he proceeds to beat Vyle into the ground with it! He then yanks Mongo up by his arm and whips him into the- Wait no, Vyle has reversed it! And he sends "The Man-Beast" back first into the steel steps! The go everywhere! Mongo raises his hand as the fans cheer, but Windham clubs him in the back and Papa Shango joins in! Vyle hits the floor and crawls toward a recovering Rhino while Shango kicks him along the way. Rhino has now got ahold of the steel steps and hoisting them into the air slams Vyle in the head with them! He does it again, but Mongo already isn't moving. He then rolls "The Mauler" back into the ring where he makes the cover. 1!... 2!....
Vyle kicks out! He doesn't even try to get up as Rhino beats his fists on the canvas. He then yells something at Barry and Papa who go under the ring and produce a table! They slide it into the ring and then enter helping Rhino set it up. Referee Danny Davis tries to stop them, but Shango gets getting in his face. "The Man-Beast" then with Barry's help sets Mongo up on the top turnbuckle. He's planning to superplex him through the table! He climbs up to the second rope, but Mongo comes alive and begins fighting him! Rhino fires back and they're trading blows up top! "The Beast" has Mongo reeling now however and he grabs Vyle, pops the hips and slams "The Machiavellan Mauler" through the table! It takes the wind out of Rhino too, but he makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Vyle kicks out! Rhino can't believe it! He drags Mongo up to his knees and begins pounding his head in! And he busts Vyle open! Papa Shango and Barry Windham enter the ring and from under his cloak "The Soul Stealer" produces the smoking cauldron! Rhino is now shaking his head "Yes." But Vyle sees it and hopping up to his feet he begins throwing some massive meathooks! He clobbers Shango! And Windham! And Rhino! But the sheer numbers catches up to him and they force him back down to his knees! Mongo is screaming "No! No! No!" while Shango laughs maniacally and theatrically raises the cauldron above him! Mongo gives one last struggle but it isn't enough to free himself! And Papa Shango pours the black goop all over his head! Honky questions if it's tar as it runs all over Vyle's face and even enters his mouth! Mongo Vyle is screaming in pain before suddenly going limp and convulsing. Vyle convulses on the floor while The Dark Circle stands menacingly over his body and Papa Shango cackles triumphantly.
Lights Fade.

I really, really enjoyed Slammin Saturdays. Brandi Wine and Beulah are two ladies I love watching. And they aren't so bad in the ring either . The Bayou Boys family reunion was awesome. Roadkill is a great addition to the group. Would it be appropriate to call him the Blacksheep of the family? There are quite a few Amish Communities in Northern Mississippi as well. Nice cameo from Weird Al, that was lots of fun. Super hot start to Weekend Warriors. Savage's intensity always made him an entertaining squasher. He and Simmons are two terrible contenders to be on your tail, so I don't like Benoit's chances of keeping the Eastern States title. I would also love to see a Savage/Simmons vs. Rude/RVD match-up on TV sometime. I know they are both tied up in their own stuff, but I think it would be a tag match for the ages. Good main event as well. So did the match get called, or did Rhino pin him after that, or what?
