10/30/96 - Delaware Field House Newark, DE
"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to the Delaware Field House in Newark, Delaware for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! They then wish us a Happy Halloween and no folks, Lanny sadly isn't wearing a mask. They then talk briefly about last week's show including Ron Simmons' DQ victory over Eastern States Champ Chris Benoit in the Main Event and The Mexi-Kings vicious attack on ex-communicated member Homicide on Weekend Warriors; but mainly focus on the ongoing feud within the very membership of the Dark Circle! Okerlund expresses disgust over Papa Shango seemingly having crucified "The Ring Master" Matt Borne, something TNN has forbidden us to replay; which ended up being ruse as Borne hopped down off the cross to attack his former allies Pogo the Clown and Luna Vachon! This led to a huge brawl which was only broken up by Ronnie Garvin's security team with the aide of Tag-Team Champs Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes who would go on to team-up with "The Dark Prophet" Brimstone this past Saturday on Weekend Warriors in a match which saw Papa Shango defeat Brimstone in the center of the ring! With a little help from a face full of Voodoo Mist Gene reminds us. Lanny however didn't see a thing.
They then hype up tonight's huge card which will see the ECW Light Heavyweight Champ Dean Malenko in non-Title action against two time Champ Aryan Von Raschke! "Macho Man" Randy Savage is also scheduled to make his return to the ring and "Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero will face his former ally Homicide! And in the huge Main Event we'll have some Intergender Tag action as "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango will team with another member of the Dark Circle against the monstrous Pogo the Clown and the equally monstrous (to Lanny anyway) "Mad Dog Luna Vachon!
Joel Gertner then makes the announcements for the first match of the night.
Match: The Bayou Boys vs. The Texas Hangmen (Barr & Bart w/ Bob Orton Jr.)
Referee: Danny Davis
"Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr. makes himself a pain in the ass of the Bayou Boys at ringside, leading to Cousin Jamie nearly getting pinned when he gets Drawn and Quartered by Jesse Barr and "The Outlaw Black Bart! Jamie kicks out before the three and makes the hot tag to "The Redneck Rebel" Doug Gilbert however. Gilbert comes in on fire and after laying fists on both Barr and Bart, clotheslines "The Outlaw" over the top rope and out of the ring! He then has a good back and forth contest with Jesse before tagging Cousin Jamie back in for the Dosey Doe! Jamie gets swung into Barr in the corner before throwing Doug into the corner for another body avalanche! But this time Orton grabs Barr by his foot and pulls him out of harm's way! Doug Gilbert hits the corner, then the mat hard while The Texas Hangmen regroup on the outside! Cousin jamie isn't having it however and dancing a jig while clapping his hands gets the fans behind him before charging across the ring and launches on top of them with a tope dive! He wipes out the group and is back up first before rolling Jesse Barr back into the ring. Cousin Jamie climbs up to and the missile dropkick connects for the three count!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
We're brought to the boiler room of the DC Armory where "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango is very pleased with himself for picking up the win this past Saturday on Weekend Warriors! He tells his Dark Circle brethren that he can feel the Dark One coursing through his very soul! And that the time for the reaping is at hand! He says that Saturday night judgement fell on the non-believer Brimstone! And tonight the rest of the infidels will share his fate! "The Ring Master" Matt Borne however is a bit nervous as he tells Shango he wasn't too pleased how he was overlooked this weekend. He says that he's been a loyal servant and that he was slighted not being included in the Tag Match. Shango laughs maniacally and tells brother Borne not to fret. Because he has consulted the Dark Lord! And "The Ring Master" has a use! And he shall be put to the test tonight!
Match: Douglas Williams vs. Reckless Youth
Referee: S.D. Jones
"The U.K. Kidd" Douglas Williams and Reckless Youth have a great back and forth spot fest where each man gets several nearfalls before Douglas locks a struggling Youth about the waist and hits the Chaos Theory waistlock backward roll transitioned into a bridging German Suplex for the pinfall.
After the match we're taken to a promo where ECW Correspondent Terri Runels is having a word with World's Finest. "Ravishing" Rick Rude and "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam talk about how while they don't even have to win any matches to prove that a team of their caliber should be number one contenders... they did it anyway. But we all knew the second they walked in the door that Rude and RVD would one day be the ECW Champions. And they want that chance at the biggest show of them all... Wrestle Annual! Nein! Nein! Nein! Nein!
The team are interrupted by The Baron Von Raschke and his Ubermensch! The Baron says that these two preening Americans have proven nothing! That while both may have had some success in the single's division in the disant past; they have never worn the Tag-Team Titles like the pride of Germany Aryan von Raschke or "Mangler's Monster" The Blitzkrieg! Andthat until they have proven themselves they are nothing! Worthless! But if the Ubermensch have to prove that they're the best Tag-Team in the world once again by grinding the bones, mashing the flesh of Rude and Rob into so much paste; then so be it!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Match: Dean Malenko w/ David Prazak vs. Aryan von Raschke w/ The Baron & The Blitzkrieg
Referee: Danny Davis
The ECW Light Heavyweight and WCW Gen X Champ comes out with both Titles. Aryan von Raschke is looking to become a three time Champ her and really takes the fight to "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko who he hits with the Sieg Heil! Superkick for two and later a corner sitout powerbomb for another two. Malenko gives as good as he gets however and after several pin attempts of his own, he nails Aryan with two conescutive powerbombs, transitioning the second into the Texas Cloverleaf for the win by Submission.
He gets his hand raised by Davis when he hears Prazak call out and turns just in time to get The Blitzkrieg hand wrapped about his throat and planted with the Telegraph from Berlin Chokeslam! Malenko is out cold as ECW goes to...

Match: Randy Savage vs. Brian Christopher
Referee: S.D. Jones
"Macho Man" Randy Savage comes down to the ring with "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs who exchanges some words with "Miss Texas" Jacqueline Moore at ringside. Inside the ring "Too Cool" Brian Christopher is all fired up and gives Savage a good back and forth fight, getting a two count when he follows up a side Russian legsweep witht he Hip Hop guillotine legDrop! Randy Savage as expected dominates most of the match however and finishes off Christopher with the Savage Elbow off the top.
After the match he gets on the mic and tells the Delaware crowd it's a great feeling being back in this ring, putting a hurting on a Lawler. Dig it! But he's got bigger fish to fry. Ooooh Yeah! Because in just a couple o' weeks the biggest event in this industry is gonna drop like a bomb! And at Wrestle Annual III "Macho Man" Randy Savage is looking for revenge brother! Against "The Canadian Crippler! Yeah! And he intends to walk out of MSG pumped up, on fire; and once again the Eastern States Champ-ee-on!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Back from break Okerlund and Poffo talk about the huge announcement that the second match for December 1st at Wrestle Annual III has been signed! And "Macho Man" Randy Savage will be getting his rematch for the Eastern States Championship! Poffo says this news of course isn't bigger anywhere than in the mind of Randy Savage himself.
Match: Eddie Guerrero w/ Hernandez vs. Homicide
Referee: Danny Davis
Eddie Guerrero doesn't take Homicide seriously early on in this bout, and pays for it. The former Mexi-King looks on his way to an upset when he hits the Da Gringo Killer back to back double underhook Piledriver after failing to put "Latino Heat" away with the Gringo Cutter. Kicking out just before the three however, Eddie slides out of the ring to regroup and is followed out by Homicide! Homicide attempts to smash Eddie's face into the guardrail, but he blocks it and scooping him up hits an atomic drop on top of the guard rail on Homicide! His opponent falls into the audience and Guerrero follows him out stomping and beating him down. He takes a steel chair from the fans and begins blasting Homicide with it before pulling him up to his feet and whipping Homicide into the guardrail! Homicide hits it hard and spills right over it! Guerrero perches on the guardrail and hopping off connects with a double foot stomp to the back of his opponent! He then hoists him up by his arm and whips him into the steel steps! Hernandez who has been watching from ringside seems to think this is enough and tries to stop Eddie. But Guerrero brushes him off and rolls Homicide into the ring just before the 10 count is delivered. He then grabs the time keeper's bell and re-entering the ring slams it into the stomach of a recovering Homicide drawing the DQ! Eddie Guerrero doesn't care however and climbing up top he leaps off and hits the Frog Splash onto the time keeper's bell and Homicide! He gives a littel victory dance before spitting on Homicide! Just then however Guerrero is spun about!
And he gets clocked by a hard left from Regal! Sir William whips Eddie into the ropes and throws him clear across the ring with an Exploder Suplex! He then pounces on Eddie and locks in the Regal Stretch arm trapped cross-legged STF! Guerrero is screaming in pain and he taps! But this isn't a match so the man from Blackpool isn't letting go! Just then however he gets stomped off by big Shawn Hernandez! Regal keeps Eddie locked in the hold anyway for a few seconds before letting go and rolls out of the ring! Guerrero is frothing at the mouth as he gets up and starts screaming at Regal telling him how dead he is!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels in now in front of the ECW Banner with "The Machiavellan Mauler" Mongo Vyle! She talks to him about leaving the Dark Circle and he tells Terri his only regret is that his Tag-Team partner, his brother "The Man-Beast" Rhino didn't come with him. He says that he realized long ago that Papa Shango is a poison. That "The Soul Stealer" looks out for nothing but himself and...
Just then he gets Gored out of his boots by Rhino as Terri screams in terror! "The Man-Beast" gets up with an evil grin on his face as he breathes deeply looking at his downed prey.
Match: Mongo Vyle vs. Steve Blackman
Referee: S.D. Jones
"The Silent Assassin" Steve Blackman is waiting in the ring and there's some speculation this match won't even be happening after Rhino's attack on Mongo Vyle moments ago. Indeed it looks like that may be the case when "Fuckin' Hostile" by Pantera hits and Mongo takes a while to come staggering from the back! "The Genius" wonders what Mongo has to do with "Machiavelli;" because coming out here in his condition certainly isn't intelligent. Mongo Vyle gives Steve a fight but it's obvious his every move appears to cause him pain including the Mongo Masher full nelson atomic drop which gets him his only two count of the match. Steve Blackman takes full advantage of his injured opponent and after dominating him with several kicks and submission moves targeting Mongo's ribs; he hits the bridged Fisherman's Suplex for the three count.
After the match Arn Anderson's music hits! And out from the back comes.... ECW Champion "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson? Wait. Something isn't right! It's someone dressed like Double A?! Why it's that no goodnik "The Long Island Loud-Mouth" Chris Jericho! He's got a horrible looking bald cap on, a fake beard; and an insultingly large fat suit on. He has a toy ECW Title over one shoulder and a microphone in his hand.
He tells us we all know who he is, he's the Eastern Heavyweight Champion! Kind of ironic when you consider that he can't even get the damned Title around his waist. Maybe they could make a Super Heavyweight title so he can fight Yokowhateverhisnameis. But he's sitting her today living proof that in this business a man with average size, average speed, average quickness, average looks, average intelligence, average carpentry skills can parlay that into a wrestling career that if he may say so himself; is quite excellent. But you know something? Two months I ago I bit off more than I could chew. Now I know what you're saying? And you're right. Ol' Double A can chew an awful lot. But I went ahead and got myself a second helping of the ECW Title when I turned my back on my best friend, a man I'd be nothing without; "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. And that wasn't the worst of it. Oh no... because by putting on that belt. Over my shoulder have you. It put a big ol' target on my back. And while I may've beaten Flair, beaten Pap Shango; there's one man I just know I can't beat. One man in the locker room I'm shaking in fear of. And his name... Well it's "The Long Island Loud-Mouth" Chris Jericho! Chris is having himself a good laugh at himself when the fans begin to cheer!
And turning around Jericho catches a blur of Double A as he slides into the ring and drops him with a hard right! Arn keeps on pounding Chris on the mat and then getting to his feet begins stomping him out until Chris crawls out onto the apron and falls to the floor! Arn picks up the microphone and tells Chris that he was already in trouble picking a fight, stepping into the ring with "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson! But apparently that wasn't enough. Because he just earned himself a ol' Double A sized ass kicking at Wrestle Annual III! And "The Enforcer" is going to deliver it. He guarandamntees it!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event! They talk about "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango's ongoing vendetta with "The Dark Prophet" Brimstone who betrayed him at September to Remember. Tonight he teams with "The Ring Master" Matt Borne against two more defectees from the sinister cabal as they face off against Pogo the Clown and "Mad Dog" Luna Vachon! Voodoo drums then begin to pound and mist fills the arena as Shango, Borne; and Windham appear up on the ramp.
Gertner: The following Tag-Team match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first weighing a combined 513 lbs. and accompanied to the ring by "Blackjack" Barry Windham; they are Dark Circle members "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango and "The Ring Master" Matt Borne!
The Dark Circle overtakes the ring and Papa Shango stands up on the second rope before blowing a fireball into the air. The Circus of Doom's intro then hits as a weired spotlight cricles about the arena landing on the ramp while circus music plays.
Gertner: And now introducing their opponents this evening weighing 480 lbs.; they are Pogo the Clown and "Mad Dog" Luna Vachon!
Tag-Team Match: Papa Shango & Matt Borne vs. Pogo the Clown & Luna Vachon
Referee: Danny Davis
Luna Vachon starts things off so "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango insists Matt Borne take the lead. "The Ring Master" seems more interesting in bringing "Mad Dog" back to the darkside than fighting her, but Luna has other plans as she continually puts the fists and boots to Borne! Matt keeps pleading with her, every once in a while going after her for a few seconds before stopping and begging again. Vachon taking full advantage even going so far as to bite Matt's nose drawing blood after deliver 9 punches to him in the corner! She then hits him with a bodyslam and going up top connects with the flying headbutt! 1!... 2!...
Borne just kicks out! He's clutching his nose and cannot seem to believe the brutality of Luna who pulls him up by his hair and hits him with a sitout jawbreaker over the top of her head! Matt falls back hard, turns over and scrambles to the ropes! Luna is right on top of him, but a back elbow from Borne allows him to make the tag and in comes "The Soul Stealer!" Vachon fairs well early on catching Shango off guard, but Papa quickly recovers and brutally hammers away on his smaller opponent! He locks her up for the swinging neckbreaker before gesturing to Borne and then hits it! He hooks the leg! 1!... 2!...
Luna kicks out! Vachon fights back, but Shango dominates her from here, beating and throwing her about the ring! He takes her up in the air and plants her with the Voodoo inverted shoulderbreaker! And makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Vachon kicks out again! "The Soul Stealer" seems to have tired of games and grabbing the top rope begins stomping Luna out as he claws her way into the corner where he face washes her! He stomps her right in the face and looks at Matt who seems conflicted! He then does it again! He's yelling at Borne about getting the job done. He then grabs Luna by the hair and drags her on her hands and knees to "The Ring Master's" corner! He punches Luna in the face and tells Matt to finish her before he makes the tag! Matt stays on the apron and Shango calls him a coward. He then grabs Borne by his suit coat and throws him into the ring! Matt bounces up to his feet and Shango holds off and slaps him! Borne goes wide-eyed as "The Soul Stealer" cackles with glee! Matt Borne is heading to the wrong corner now? And he's yelling at Pogo the Clown?! He slaps Pogo hard across the face before pointing to Papa Shango!
The big clown begins laughing maniacally as it charges into the ring and squashes a surprised Shango into the corner! Pogo then pummels "The Soul Stealer" for a bit before pulling him out of the corner and Buries Him in the Basement! Barry Windham who's on the outside hops up on the apron, but Borne charges him! Windham catches Matt with a hairpull hangman though and grabbing him by the legs while on the outside pulls him into the corner and crotches him against the ring post! Pogo is too busy checking on Luna to care and Barry Windham grabs a steel chair! He enters the rings and hammers it over Pogo's head! And then he does it again! And again! The fans are cheering though now and "Blackjack" knows there's something up. And looking toward the ramp he sees Brimstone is waiting on the apron!
Windham rushes forward with the chair, but "The Dark Prophet" catapults himself over the top rope and clobbers the steel chair right into Windham's skull with a flying clothesline! Barry is out cold as Brimstone stands amid the carnage and getting a microphone and begins reciting a poem as the...
Lights Fade.
