AWA ALL STAR WRESTLING
Taped October 5, 1984 to air across the territory on October 9, 1984 at the St. Paul Civic Center. Rod Trongard on commentary and Ken Resnick as ring announcer and interviewer.
After the opening, we cut to Ken Resnick and Rod Trongard in front of the AWA logo.
RESNICk Welcome to All Star Wrestling. This week, we originate from the St. Paul Civic Center for one of our most exciting programs ever, Rod!
TRONGARD: What a lineup of matches, Ken. Seik Adnan’s Russian, Boris Zhukov will wrestle on of the most popular men in the AWA, Steve O! Paul Ellering’s Legion of Doom will be represented in three matches: Superstar Graham wrestles “Pistol” Pez Whatley, Steve “Dr. Death “ Williams will debut against Larry “The Axe” Hennig, and Curt Henning will face Ellering’s Barbarian, a man very similar to Hawk & Animal, the Road Warriors.
Resnick: We’ll get it all started after these messages…
COMMERCIAL
Boris Zhukov vs. Steve O:Adnan El Kaissey brings his Russian protégé to the ring for this match. Olsonoski outwrestles Zuhkov for most of the bout, but mistimes a dropkick and falls prey to a diving headbutt for the 1-2-3 as the fans chant “USA!USA!” loudly and proudly!
Cut to the interview area
RESNICK: I’m standing by with Paul Ellering and the cornerstone of his Legion Of Doom, the World Tag Team Champions, the Road Warriors, Hawk & Animal. Stiff competition for the new members of the Legion this week.
ELLERING: I beg to differ, Ken Resnick! Superstar Graham is far too imposing of a physical specimen for Pez Whatley to ever contend with! You will see a pistol misfire badly! Old Man Hennig and the boy will both find themselves overwhelmed by Dr. Death and the Barbarian! The Warriors will continue to overwhelm any competition any promoter throws at them! Atlas and Reed! The Samoans! The Hennigs…don’t make me laugh! The Legion Of Doom will leave behind a trail of broken bodies from border to border, coast to coast as a certain announcer id fond of saying!
ANIMAL: Me and Hawk are ready for anybody. And we’re not alone now! We have brothers in pain…the Superstar, Dr. Death, the Barbarian! We grew up on the streets of Chicago and had a lot of gang fights, but we never seen a gang like the Legion! After today, we’ll never have to worry about Pez Whatley or the Hennigs coming after these belts again!
HAWK: Weeelllll, it seems everybody wants to get beat up! Butch Reed was offered his big break and he turned it down! I guess we’ll have to give him an even bigger break…such as breakin’ his stinkin’ neck! Tony “Mr. USA” Atlas, the wrestling bodybuilder, wants to stick his nose in Legion business! I guess we’ll just have to break that nose! We are getting phone calls to wrestle everywhere, from Tokyo to New York to Chicago…..If you live in any of those towns, come out and watch Hawk and Animal destroy your heroes, one by one!
RESNICK: Superstar Graham against Pez Whatley is up next!

Superstar Graham vs. “Pistol” Pez Whatley:Whatley puts up a great fight against the powerful Superstar. Graham applies his full nelson, but Pez counters by pushing off of the turnabckles with his feet and driving Graham to the mat! It would be a pinfall, but Paul Ellering puts Graham’s foot on the bottom rope! Pez begins yelling at Ellering and Graham takes advantage of the distraction to apply the full nelson again! This time, there’s no escape and Graham gets the submission win!
COMMERCIAL
RESNICK: I am here with Sheik Adnan El Kaissey and his Russian, Boris Zhukov. Sheik, it was an impressive win for your man earlier.
ADNAN: Ken Resnick, <several words in a foreign tongue> and I will rule the AWA! I have Tatsumi Fujinami and I have my Russian brother in arms, Boris Zhukov! Rick Martel, the Japanese consortium has paid me an amount of money that you cannot comprehend to bring the World Championship to them.I will spend any amount of money, bring in any wrestler to reach my goal!
ZHUKOV: Steve O, you felt the power of Russia! Soon, everybody in the AWA will feel the pain! Brisco! Atlas! Martel! Curt Hennig! I might even find a partner and go after the Road Warriors! With the Sheik at my side, I am unstoppable and unbeatable!

”Dr.Death” Steve Williams vs. Larry “The Ax” Hennig: The veteran Hennig gives Dr. Death a tough match. It’s even until things spill to the floor. On the floor, Williams slams Hennig headfirst into the ringpost! Dr. Death re-enters the ring and Ellering rolls Hennig back in. Williams gives “the Ax” a ring rattling Oklahoma Stampede and scores a pin in his debut! Hennig is bleeding and battered, but when Williams and Ellering try to give him a postmatch beatdown, he manages to throw “the Ax” a few times and make his own save!

The Barbarian vs. Curt Hennig: Hennig runs into a real buzzsaw in the powerhouse Barbarian, but Curt comes firing back and knocks Barbarian out of the ring with a top rope dropkick! Ellering tries to make it 2 on 1 when Hennig goes to the floor after the Barbarian, but Curt picks up a steel chair and nails Ellering, knocking the manager flat! Curt nails the Barbarian, but the big man just stands there and glares at him! Curt gets into the ring and challenges the Barbarian to get back into the ring! The referees are out and keeping Hennig and the Barbarian apart! Resnick enters the ring with a mic…
RESNICK: Curt Hennig, that was quite a brawl!
HENNIG: Get on in here, you big goon, I’m not done with you!
RESNICK: That was a war, Curt!
HENNIG: That’s right, Ken! This is a war! The Hennigs are declaring war on Paul Ellering and his bunch of muscleheads! Dad is getting stitches right now and he’s hurting bad! Barbarian! Williams! Graham! Warriors! Ellering! The Ax Attack is coming for you! We’ve justb got started and we won’t be done until we run you jerks out of the AWA!
