Boyd Pierce: “Welcome friends to another episode of Mid South Wrestling, the King of Sports! And now with an update on one of wrestling’s biggest stars of all time, I give you Bill Watts!
Bill Watts has a stack of staples documents under his hand: ”Boyd Pierce, one of the biggest questions this summer has surrounded Junkyard Dog. While running Butch Reed out of Mid South, there were several instances when this industry biggest star no-showed some key matches in the area, putting Mid South Wrestling in the position of offering refunds or bonus matches to those disappointed fans. This caused rumors, of JYD moving to the WWF, AWA, NWA, Japan and other promotions.
“Well, Boyd the bottom line is during this summer Junkyard Dogs contract with Mid South Wrestling expired, and I suppose as part of those negotiations Junkyard Dog took some bad advice from his agent and chose to sit out some cards all the while entertaining offers from other promotions.
“Now Boyd, I have to be honest with you, this notion of professional wrestlers getting guaranteed contracts strikes odd to me, back in my day you were paid the night of the match, and if you could perform, draw money and win matches, you got paid, and could stay in a promotion as long as you wanted. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hold anything against Junkyard Dog, I sure as heck wish I could have gotten one of those guaranteed contracts back in my day. But its 1984, not 1964, and today in order to secure the services of the top athletes in baseball, basketball and now wrestling, you have to offer guaranteed contracts, and Junkyard Dog as the most popular athlete in the world today is no different.
“Now, let’s understand something, Junkyard Dog is not just about money. One thing JYD has made clear over and over to us is that he loves the fans of Mid South Wrestling, and really didn’t want to have to take a contract and wrestle in New York, Atlanta, Tampa or anywhere else but here in his home in Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma, and that he was willing to offer our promotion a ‘hometown discount’, a guaranteed salary lower than those other guys were offering.
“For that reason I am pleased to announce that Mid South Wrestling has granted Junkyard Dog a temporary contract extension and Boyd, hopefully soon we can work out a more iron lad, long term agreement. But for right now, Junkyard Dog is NOT leaving Mid South Wrestling, and he is NOT going to no show any more matches, and as you can see by these papers I am holding, I have a signed contract right here to assure that.
Boyd: “Exciting news fans, the Junkyard Dog is here to stay in Mid South Wrestling! Let’s go to Jim Ross to announce the principles in the first match of the hour.

Bill: “WELL, WELL WELL, Michael Hayes, why not beat up those wrestlers Charlie Cook and George Wells like you did Terry Taylor? 3 on 1 easier than 3 on 2?
Michael: “DON’T YOU MOUTH OFF TO ME BILL WATTS, I BEEN HERE IN MID SOUTH FOR 2 WEEKS AND ah heard what you said last week and we are ALREADY AH AM SICK OF YOU SON!
Bill: “Michael Hayes, trust you me, I am not your son, and you aren’t mine, thank goodness, I suggest you tone it down a few decibels, because I spoke to the Mid South Committee, and they weren’t impressed by what you and these men did to Terry Taylor last week! I have to tell you, Mid-South Wrestling has put a lot of time and money into promoting that young man, and we don’t take too kindly to you and your thugs here rolling into town and putting him out of the sport for no good reason!
Michael: “Bill Watts, if you just take a look at the tape, TERRY TAYLOR took a cheap shot at this man, Buddy Roberts, after he won fair and square, TERRY TAYLOR knew he was surrounded by the Freebirds, and HE was the one who took a shot! LOOK AT THE TAPE, WATTS LOOK AT THE TAPE!
“And let me tell y’all something else, I heard that pipsqueak Magnum TA come out here and say he wants a piece of Michael Hayes and the Freebirds? Well let me tell YOU something Magnum TA, I promise, I guarantee this, if you EVER come out here and get in my face, I will SLAP YOU LIKE A LITTLE CHILD! I WILL SLAP YOU SO HARD YOU’LL GO CRYING TO YOUR MAMA!
“And as for you, HACKSAW DUGGAN, YOU RAN OUT and got into our business when we were teaching Terry Taylor the price for messing with the Birds, and if you come out here, BAMM BAMM heres' got a little message for you, and then there's Tiger Conway Junior, he has the nerve to come out and mess with the Birds, well, Tiger Conway Jr we gotta little something for you too, just bring it!!!!
Bill: “Hold on motormouth, let me ask you one thing, Michael Hayes before your butt cashes in way more checks than these man can cash, you just come out here and call out the top stars of Mid South who have nothing to do with you . . . .WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?
Michael: “My problem?? MY PROBLEM IS YOU BILL WATTS, AND THE WHOLE MID SOUTH WRESTLING STRUCTURE! We ruled the roost here until you and Leo McGuirk and Paul Boecsh THE REST OF THE Cabal that runs this organization PAID OFF THE REFEREES, PAID OFF THE COMMISSIONS, AND HAD THE FREEBIRDS RUN OUT OF THE MID SOUTH FOR FOUR YEARS …
Bill: “All right now this is ridiculous . .
Michael grabs the mike: “ . . and let me tell you something, Bill Watts, The Fabulous Freebirds went all ACROSS the world, to all them other rasslin promotions tryin' to sign the Junkyard Dog . . . And guess what? We WON EVERY TAG TEAM TITLE THERE WAS TO WIN, and retired them all, and now we have come back to the Mid South, ON TOP OF THE WORLD, to claim what ours: COMPLETE DOMINATION OF THE NUMBER ONE RASSLIN PROMOTION ON THE PLANET!!!
“So I will say it again: Jim Duggan, you want to see how tough you are? Bamm Bamm’s got something special in store JUST FOR YOU, BOY! Buddy Jacks got the TV title, and that’s the first of ALL the titles the Freebirds are gonna hold, AND MAGNUM TA???
“I said it once, and I will it again . . .don’t stop me Bill Watts . . .Magnum TA if you come out here . . . I WILL SLAP YOUR FACE.
Bill: “ALL RIGHT ALL RIGHT, THAT’S quite enough, those will be words you will live to regret Michael Hayes, Boyd?
Boyd: “Fans, when we return, one of the most recognizable figure not only in wrestling but in sports, perhaps the world over.

You know ever since I arriver he-ah, fans have asked me Andre are you true giant of the ring, and I say no look to champions like Magnum Ta, Junkyard Dog, hacksaw, they are true giants of ring, they are who you should look up to, I am just big and tall, but they have fight in the ring.
Bill: “Well, Andre, that it is certainly true, but I think I speak on behalf of everyone in Mid South when I say it is indeed an honor to have such a true legend of wrestling here in the Mid South, and welcome.
Boyd: “ANDRE THE GIANT look for the 8th Wonder of the World at an arena near you here in Mid South Wrestling, see you next time ladies and gentlemen!
