The show begins with the Moondogs in the ring and “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath rattling the building! The Road Warriors enter the arena and they aren’t alone...PAUL ELLERING is with them! In spite of Spot & Spike attacking Hawk & Animal as they enter the ring, the Warriors end up winning in about three minutes!
Afterwards, The Warriors announce that the Nasty Boys caught a plane out of town as soon as the Bash was over! Loony Luna is probably in physical therapy after what Bull Nakano did to her! Animal says that he and Hawk haven’t been themselves for a long time. They should have ran the Nasty Boys out of WCW a long time ago! Without belts, the Warriors look naked! It ain’t right for the Warriors not to have gold! Hawk says they have been like a puzzle with a missing piece, but they made a phone call and the mastermind is back! Ellering says that it won’t be long until his men are ruling tag team wrestling again! The first step is the US Tag belts. Colonel Robert Parker, if you have any guts at all, give my guys a shot at the Faces of Fear and their belts!
Mean Gene interviews his “longtime, close personal friend”, WCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel. The Commish announces that there will be a Clah of the Champions here on TBS on August 20th at 8:05! The show will originate from the Greensboro Coliseum. Bockwinkel says that he is working hard to sign a rematch between Ric Flair and Vader for the World Title on that card! Nick says he heard Ellering’s challenge and that he will attempt to bring that match to pass as well! Sting and the World Tag Team Champions, Rick & Scott Steiner come in. Sting says that he and his buddies here have unfinished business with the Horsemen! They realize that Flair has a full dance card, but they want any three other guys that the Horsemen can put together! Bockwinkel says that he wants this to be the best Clash of all time and he’ll see what he can do!
Team Extreme team with their mentor, Roddy Piper, to take on the Headbangers & Fit Finlay in a wild one! Piper bulldogs and pins Headbanger Mosh for the win. Afterwards, Piper says that Dreamer and Riggs have proven that they belong on big cards like the Clash and asks if there is a team that has the guts to take them on!
The Bruise Brothers defeat Bart Sawyer & Barry Houston. The Bruise Brothers say that they accept Team Extreme’s challenge for the Clash!
We see a VTR where Nailz is talking about his time in prison. He says that Billy Jack Haynes was a big time wrestling star and could have used his connections to keep him out of the pen, but he was too busy being a big shot!
Nailz says that there’s somebody who wants to say a few words. We cut to a dark room where a man is in shadows so we can’t see his face. The man’s voice is also disguised. He says that he was a corrections officer for 30 years. He served at the prison where Nailz did his time. He states that when two prisoners had a problem and needed to settle their differences, the guards who clear the prison yard except for the two prisoners who had a beef. They would use this(he holds up a chain with a dog collar on each end)! The guys would fasten the collars around their necks and they would fight until one man couldn’t continue! The former guard hands the chain to whoever is doing the interview and tells him to give this to Nailz. From what he’s seen on WCW lately, he needs it!
Nailz tells Billy jack that he challenges him to a PRISON YARD FIGHT!!!!
Billy Jack Haynes defeats a game, but inexperienced Horace Hogan. During an interview, Haynes accepts Nailz’s challenge and says that the upcoming Clash would be a great place for the match!
WCW World Champion Ric Flair scores an impressive win over Devon Storm. Flair does an arrogant interview where he talks about how Vader is a big, tough man, but he was just another victim of the greatness that is Ric Flair! We then are shown a VTR of Vader in a darkened studio. Vader says that Harley Race has retired after the beating that the Horsemen gave him at the Bash! Vader says that he wants a rematch with Flair and, this time, it will be Flair who retires!
US Champion Rick Rude (w/Sherri Martel) takes on the Blue Yankee, who scored a countout win over Rude last week, thanks to Jake Roberts. Rude gets a countout win of his own today as the masked man can’t return to the ring after two DDTs by Rude on the floor.
Jake Roberts says that he gave Rude the beating of his life at the Bash, but he got ripped off. Roberts demands a rematch at the Clash of the Champions! Jake follows that up by beating Lord Zoltan. Rude and Sherri come out and Rude says that he’s proven that he is the better man and there will be no more title matches for the Snake!
The US Tag Team Champions the Faces of Fear defeat Jim Brunzell & Mike Samples. Jesse points out that Colonel Robert Parker is absent because he is still recovering from the Ghetto Odds match at the Bash.
Rob Van Dam beats Chaz Taylor after a five star frog splash.
World TV Champion Ricky Steamboat successfully defends his title with a win over Bob Orton, Jr. After the match, Steamboat is being interview when RVD comes out and very respectfully asks Steamboat for a title match. Steamboat says Rob reminds him of himself in his younger days. Ricky shakes his hand and says that he would be proud to wrestle an athlete of Rob’s calibre.
Sting teams up with the World Tag Team Champions Rick & Scott Steiner to defeat Mondo Kleen, Duane Gill, & Dusty Wolfe. When Rick pins Gill after the Steiner Bulldog. Afterwards, the faces say that they want any three of the Horsemen at the upcoming Clash!

Steamboat says that Van Dam is the future of professional wrestling, but Ricky isn’t ready to step aside right now! He says that Regal is an incredible mat wrestler and he has held this title before. He tells Mean Gene that either way, the fans will see a great match!
In the #1 Contender’s Match, Rob Van Dam defeats Lord Steven Regal in an absolute thriller to earn a World TV Title match against Steamboat at the Clash! Afterwards, Steamboat and RVD shake hands and promise the fans a great match for the belt!
Ric Flair (w/Ole Anderson) defeats Chaz Taylor. Afterwards, Flair says that he is ready, willing, and able to give Vader another wrestling lesson at the Clash! Flair says that he’s basically unbeatable at the Greensboro Coliseum!
Vader beats the Blue Yankee. Afterward, we see a VTR of Harley Race where he says that the doctors have advised him to retire after the beating he took from the Horsemen! Race says that he is confident that Vader can beat Flair for the championship, with or without Race in his corner! Vader says that he won’t rest until he’s not only won the belt, but also ran the Horsemen out of WCW!
The Road Warriors(w/Paul Ellering) knock off Mike Samples & Lord Zoltan. Ellering says that he still hasn’t heard back from Colonel Robert parker and the US Tag Team Champions, the Faces of Fear! Maybe they are scared to defend against Hawk & Animal!
Rick Rude (w/Sherri Martel & Abdullah the Butcher) defeats a very game Bart Sawyer. Afterwards, Mean Gene asks Rude about the Butcher’s presence. Rude says that he has worked out a deal with his pal, Ole Anderson. Rude says that if Jake Roberts wants a US Title match at the Clash, let him earn it! Next week, Rude and Abdullah will wrestle Roberts and any partner he chooses! If jake wins, he gets his title match! Jake comes out and says he has just the right partner in mind! Rude and Abdullah better be ready!
Ahmed Johnson beats Doom via DQ when Lobo Lee interferes on Doom’s behalf. Tazmaniac runs in for the save! Lobo Lee challenges Taz right here and now! Tazmaniac agrees!
Tazmaniac(w/Ahmed Johnson) bests Lobo Lee(w/Doom) via DQ. Taz has Lee in the Tazmission when Doom interferes. Ahmed enters the ring to counteract Doom! This turns into an out of control brawl!
Abdullah the Butcher (w/Rick Rude & Sherri Martel) pins Horace Boulder.
Bam Bam Bigelow is led to the ring by Jake Roberts for his match against Mondo Kleen. Roberts gets on the mic and tells Rude and Abdullah that he has his partner for next week! Rude, Abdullah, & Sherri come to ringside and watch Bigelow win a hard fought match with Kleen.
A VTR is shown of Luna Vachon with a huge man who she refers to as Wrath!
Luna says that the Nasty Boys were just that...BOYS! Now, she has a MAN and his name is Wrath! He is evil and vicious just like she is and he will dominate WCW!
Arn Anderson, Sid Vicious, & Lex Lugar knock off Jim Brunzell and the Eliminators. In the aftermath, Sting and the Steiner Brothers join Mean Gene and challenge the Horsemen team to a six man tag at the Clash!

Billy Jack Haynes defeats Lord Zoltan. Haynes says that he accepts Nailz’s challenge to a Prison Yard match at the Clash! They replay the video explaining what the Prison Yard Match is(dog collar match that goes until one man cannot continue).
Nailz bets John Knronus in a hard hitting, highly competitive match.
Team Extreme(w/Roddy Piper) beat Duane Gill & Horace Boulder. Afterwards, the Bruise Brothers attack Dreamer & Riggs and leave them lying in the ring!
The Bruise Brothers beat the Jynx Brothers via DQ when Piper leads Team Extreme to the ring and they run Ron and Don out of the ring! Piper says that he has his guys ready for war and, at the Clash, they’ll give the Bruise Brothers the fight of their lives!
Rob Van Dam tunes up for his World TV Title match at the Clash with an impressive win over Barry Houston.
Ricky Steamboat makes a successful defense of his World TV Championship by pinning Mike Samples. Van Dam joins the announce team on commentary. He obviously respects Steamboat, but says he’ll do whatever he needs to do to take his title!
Sting teams up with World Tag Team Champions Rick & Scott Steiner against Squire David Taylor, Cowboy Bob Orton, & Devon Storm. Sting gets the win by forcing Taylor to submit to the Scorpion Deathlock. The faces announce that the match against Arn Anderson, Sid Vicious, & Lex Lugar has been signed for the Clash!

Colonel Robert Parker is interviewed. He admits that he took a real tail kicking at the Bash. He’s been under doctor’s care, but he’s also been negotiating on behalf of his men. It will be a HUGE night for the Stud Stable on 8/20 at the Clash of the Champions! Lobo Lee & Doom will take care of Ahmed Johnson and his sawed off buddy Tazmaniac once and for all! His US Tag Champions, the Faces of Fear will defend their belts against the Road Warriors! After Meng and the Barbarian defeat Hawk & Animal, the Steiners are next!
