Eastern Championship Wrestling
"Wrestling Warriors"
Agricultural Hall, Allentown, PA
Airing: Weekend of 8/10/94 on WWOR in New York area and Sports Channel Philadelphia
Hosts: Joey Styles and 'The Natural' Don Calls
The camera pans up on Agricultural Hall with Joey Styles and "The Natural" Don Calls at ringside.
Styles: "Hello and welcome everyone to Eastern Championship Wrestling. My name is Joey Styles and joining me at this time. Well, some say he's an acquired taste but I've yet to acquire it. It's Don Callis."
Callis: "That's 'The Natural' Don Calls, Joey Styles. Get it right. You know as well as I do that they call me the natural because everything comes naturally to me. Modeling. Been there, done that. Wrestling. I've got the T-shirt. Commentary. That's my latest challenge but I can assure you I am already the best in the business."
Styles: "Present company excluded, I presume."
Callis: "I didn't say that."
Styles: "We'll let you be the judge, viewers. But one thing can agree on is that Eastern Championship Wrestling will be ushering in a new era of professional wrestling here tonight on Wrestling Warriors."
Callis: "That's right. This is not sports entertainment. Turn over to the other channel for that. What Eastern Championship Wrestling brings you the viewer is the stars of tomorrow, the stars of right now, some legends still in their prime - and none of it is sports entertainment or wrasslin', for our friends down south. W-R-E-S-T-L-I-N-G. That's what on the marquee. That's what you get with ECW."
Styles: "Right here tonight, we are told that ECW Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas is here with his manager. I am sure they will have a lot to say. We will also see the ECW Tag Team Champions, The Pitbulls, in action."
Callis: "Oh, and Joey, let's not forget, the gorgeous Woman will be in the corner of the Pitbulls."
Styles: "Who knows what else is going to happen - all we do know is that is' going to be exciting! Let's go to the ring..."
REY MYSTERIO JR. VS. HAYABUSA VS. JUVENTUD GUERRERA VS. SABU (w/ Paul E. Dangerously)
Styles and Callis run down the backgrounds of each of these four stars, including that Mysterio and Guerrera practically grew up as rivals as part of two opposing Lucha Libre families. Hayabusa comes from the FMW promotion in Japan, where he has created a unique fighting style that blends Lucha Libre and Deathmatch wrestling. Not much is known about the wild man Sabu, other than that his manager Paul E. Dangerously has confirmed he is the nephew of the infamous Sheik. Once the bell rings, Juventud and Rey immediately tear into each other, but Sabu isn't about to let anyone else stop as he begins throwing hands at everyone. Sabu is on the top rope within the first minute of the match, and comes off with a frankensteiner that sends Juventud to the canvas. Hayabusa is right there with a spinning wheel kick on Sabu, only to then get caught in a flying bulldog from Mysterio. The action goes out to the floor, as Sabu fights with Hayabusa into the crowd. In the ring, Juventud goes to plant Rey with a Michinoku Driver, yet Rey blocks it and turns it up. Rey then plants Juventud with a spike tombstone pile-driver. Rey with the cover for the one... two... three!
WINNER: REY MYSTERIO JR.
Sabu is irate as he jumps back over the rail and attacks Mysterio from behind while he was celebrating. Juventud tries to stop Sabu but catches an elbow to the eye. Sabu then calls out for his manager Paul E. Dangerously, who pulls a table out from under the ring mat and tosses it into the squared circle. Sabu then slams Rey onto the table, springboards off the top rope and crushes Mysterio through the table with a twisting leg drop! Paul E. Dangerously steps into the ring to grab Sabu and pull him out to the floor just as Hayabusa dives back in. Hayabusa tends to Mysterio while Dangerously drags Sabu away by the hair.

In the backstage area, Jay Sulli is standing by with Paul E. Dangerously while Sabu tears apart catering tables and throws things around in the background. Paul E. Dangerously explains that what viewers just saw is that it's not about winning and losing for Sabu, it's just about destruction. Now, Paul prefers to win and he'll direct Sabu in that direction but ultimately, no man can control the "homicidal, genocidal, suicidal, death-drying Sabu". He suggests ECW commissioner Todd Gordon have an ambulance on stand by whenever Sabu wrestles going forward.
ECW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE PITBULLS (w/ Woman) VS. BAD COMPANY
Woman leads her men, Anthony Durante and Gary Wolfe, down to the ring on a double dog collar. The veteran team of Paul Diamond and Pat Tanaka are ready for a fight, with Tanaka and Wolfe start off. The two men tangle a bit, before Tanaka gets the tag to Diamond. Bad Company work over Wolfe in their corner for a few moments, but he eventually breaks free and tags in his partner Anthony Durante. Woman is shouting orders as Durante bulldozes both members of Bad Company with a clothesline, then power-slams Diamond on top of Tanaka. Diamond rebounds for a bit, but eventually he's caught by a running shoulder-block. Tanaka goes to step into the ring, but he's knocked to the floor by Durante. The Pitbulls then set Diamond up and drive him into the canvas with the Super Bomb! Durante with the cover for the easy three count.
WINNERS: ECW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE PITBULLS
Woman gets on the microphone after the match and says her 'Dogs of War' are the toughest tag team in all of professional wrestling. Any team who can handle two great wrestlers like Bad Company 'like a couple of chew toys' don't have to prove anything to anyone, but they get their kicks from beating the brains out of anyone foolish enough to step into the ring with the Pitbulls!
The manager is interrupted...

Joey Styles and "The Natural" Don Callis introduce the two men making their way down to the ring as Eddie Guerrero and Art Barr, known as Los Gringos Locos during their reign of terror in Mexico the last few years. Callis says he's heard that these two men were lucky to escape with their lives on more than one occasion after the inflammatory things they said about the Mexican fans.
'Love Machine' Art Barr has a microphone and tells Woman to keep the "puppies" occupied because they have something to discuss. Barr talks about how himself and Eddie became the "most hated men in Mexico" and now they thought it was only right to come back home to the USA because, quite frankly, it's no better up here! Guerrero agrees with Art and says at least in Mexico, fools like the Pitbulls would at least cover their faces with masks if they were dressing up like dogs.
Woman interrupts to tell Barr and Guerrero that her Pitbulls are not dogs - they're men and all the proof Los Gringos Locos need of that is to watch what they just did to Bad Company. Barr tells Woman that's all well and good, but Bad Company aren't Los Gringos Locos. Barr says her two 'puppies' ever will never have the guts to put those titles on the line against Los Gringos Locos because everyone knows they're both 'fixed'. Durante and Wolfe charge at Los Gringos, but Eddie and Art bail out with big smiles on their faces. Durante and Wolfe have climbed the ropes and are begging Los Gringos to get back in the ring, but Eddie shouts "when we want to".

Before tonight's main event, ECW Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas joins Jay Sulli at ringside. Douglas makes it clear that tonight is the beginning of "the Shane Douglas era" of professional wrestling. This whole ECW revolution on TV starts with Douglas and that makes him the franchise player of Eastern Championship Wrestling. Shane says that's only fitting because he's quite simply the best professional wrestler on the planet and there's nobody even close to second place! Sulli mentions that one man who is on his way to ECW is former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Terry Funk. Douglas laughs and says maybe he'd be worried about Terry Funk ten years ago, but he's seen up-close that Terry Funk is a "broken-down shell of his former self". Douglas insists that Funk isn't on his level and is therefor not deserving of a shot at the ECW Heavyweight Championship. Sulli announces that ECW commissioner thinks at least one man is worthy because right here next week, Shane will defend the ECW Heavyweight Championship against the legend, the phenom, Jimmy 'The Superfly' Snuka! Douglas reveals that Jimmy Snuka used to be his hero - he got into this sport because of the Superfly Splash off the cage at Madison Square Garden. But that was then and this is now, so if Shane Douglas has to embarrass Jimmy Snuka in front of the world to prove this is the 'Shane Douglas era', that's exactly what he'll do next week!
THE SHOOTERS VS. THE DUDLEY FAMILY
The Dudley family is made up of the dancing Bubba Ray Dudley, his younger brother Snot Dudley and their older brother Big Dick Dudley. Callis jokes early on that this match couldn't have more of a styles contrast. On the one hand, you have the absolute epitome of technical wrestling in The Shooters, Dean Malenko and Lance Storms. On the other side of the ring, you have "two clowns and a freak of nature" - but the truth is they can fight with them best of them! Malenko and Storm are methodical here as they trap Snot Dudley on their side of the ring to immobilize him by taking out his right knee. Bubba Ray is desperate for the tag as Big Dick snarls in their corner. However, Bubba Ray never gets into the match as Lance Storm eventually traps Snot Dudley in the Single-Leg Bottom Crab and Snot has no choice but to tap out. Whether it's singles or tag team action, Joey Styles and Don Callis predict The Shooters will be a force to be reckoned with in Eastern Championship Wrestling.
WINNERS: THE SHOOTERS
Joey Styles and "The Natural" Don Callis wrap up this first edition of ECW Wrestling Warriors - then promote the ECW Heavyweight Championship match between Shane Douglas and Jimmy 'The Superfly' Snuka next week!
