Airing LIVE on TBS: The Superstation from Dayton, OH 10/14/96
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE’S BOMBTRACK opens the broadcast as the camera pans across a rockin’ and rollin’ NUTTER CENTER!!!
Tony Schiavone, Larry Zbyszko, and the American Dream Dusty Rhodes open the show, and we are just two weeks away from the fall time extravaganza known as Halloween Havoc! And fans last week, the challenge was issued by the World Heavyweight Champion Curt Hennig and his perfect partner, former multiple times World Heavyweight Champion Rick Rude, the details of which remain foggy to us at this time, but according to the Dream, da Stingah and Fwair know exactly what Rude and Hennig want, and will have an answer IN THIS VERY BROADCAST! But right now we send it to Mauro Ranallo…
Ranallo thanks the guys and welcomes in The Total Package Lex Luger, and the United States Heavyweight Champion Ricky ‘the Dragon’ Steamboat. And last week these two gentlemen looked great as a tag team defeating Martel and Stasiak. Lex cuts in right there, and says that Ricky had his back all summer long in the war against Hennig and it was the least that the Package could do. But here we are now, the current United States Champion, and the greatest United States Champion of all time, so what do you say Dragon?
Steamboat with a sly smile on his face says that very little with Lex is ever transparent. If Luger wanted a title shot, he never had to pretend to be returning old favors, but Steamboat has come to expect such from Luger. Yea Package, The Dragon has no problem putting the US Title on the line against you. No good deed goes unpunished does it Mauro, asks the Dragon rhetorically. All you ever had to do was ask Luger!
Lex takes exception to the insinuations of the Dragon. He never had a plan of helping Ricky and in return getting a title shot, it’s just that the Martel/Stasiak situation is seemingly resolved, there is a big pay per view coming up, and they had little else going on. Dragon, with some fire in his eyes, says forget the PPV, you want to try and play the Dragon for a fool, Lex Luger? Well you put your money where your mouth is and you meet me in the ring tonight, for all the marbles!
Mauro says tensions are obviously running high here in the back, let’s send it to the ring!
Match 1
The queen’s favorite wrestler David Taylor once again has himself a new partner, and according to Zbyszko it’s his best partner! Johnny Boy Smith! The British Bruisers look dominant against Todd Champion and The Ranger, collectively known as Spec Ops. A little more vinegar in each shot from Taylor, meshes well with the bad attitude of Smith. Smith finishes off the Ranger with a neck-breaking backdrop suplex and a bridge.

Match 2
Scorpio met Psychosis in an outstanding back and forth encounter. The luchadore through everything he had at the vet, but Scorpio was ready for all of it, and had a counter. Scorpio looked exceptionally crisp here tonight, finishing Psy off with the 450 Primetime Splash!
After the bout Mauro Ranallo quickly caught up with Scorpio, and the two were joined by WCW Executive Vice President Magnum T.A. who was very impressed with Scorpio here tonight, and has a proposal for him. Maggie says that WCW is in desperate need of a man to bring the Generation neXt Division Championship back home where it belongs, and he wonders if Scorpio is that man. OH HELL YEA, Scorpio says that Maggie May knows houngray talent when he sees it, and he and Malenko go to the way back, Japan, Philly, Monterrey, and that Scorpio is the one man Dean Malenko didn’t want to see, come Havoc, dat belt is mine, and Deano, I’ma enjoy takin’ from ya boy!
Match 3
Iaukea of Dem Aloha Boys w/Rosey and the Godfather Samu took on the up and comer full of Bad Attitude, Chuckie Haas. And Haas fought a good fight, but was a bit over zealous, and Iaukea was ready to capitalize, finishing him off with the Super Samoan Driver for a big win on Nitro!

Match 4
World Television Champion Diamond Dallas Page w/Kimberly in his corner took on returning WCW veteran Erik Watts in a good tv match. Watts got his licks in, but was unable to quell the momentum that DDP has put together in the last few months, falling victim to the most devastating finisher in the sport, the Diamond Cutter, BANG!
BUFF BAGWELL, hits the ring, grabs the Television Championship and whips Page like a dog with it! Buff is certainly full of himself afterwards, looks directly into the camera, along with the First Lady of Professional Wrestling Miss Elizabeth; we told you his stuff was weak! Ain’t that right babe? Liz is all smiles, weak as pond water babe, weak as pond water, HAHAHAHAHA!
Match 5
Page is being helped to the back as Bagwell’s opponent, Brad Armstrong, makes his way to the ring. They chat a second, and Brad rushes into the ring and takes the fight right to Bagwell. Tony discusses the big rivalry these two had a little over a year ago during the short-lived Jim Crockett Promotions revival, and about Brad’s admiration for DDP. But Buff is a fighter, and fought his way back into this one, which turned out to be a super competitive, back-and-forth encounter. That was until
DDP!
Arrived back on the scene, BANG! DIAMOND CUTTER! For the Buffster, Page apologizes to Brad about things, but Brad understands, pats him on the back, and walks off. Page gets into the unconscious face of Bagwell and says, partnah, you and your old lady got big mouths, but DDP has never been one to back down from a challenge. If you wake up before Havoc, there will be a contract waiting for you to sign, and believe me when I say, YOU WILL FEEL THE BAAAAANG!

Semi-Final
Sting and the Nature Boy Ric Flair come out to a raucous ovation, but the veteran duo of Rip Rogers and Frankie Lancaster, the Ravishing Bodies, weren’t impressed in the least, and used every trick in the book to gain an early advantage. Unfortunately for the Bodies, there are zero tricks that the Stinger hasn’t fought through before or that the Dirtiest Player in the Game hasn’t used before. Sting locked Lancaster in the Scorpion while Flair locked Ripper in the Figure Four for dueling submissions.
After the contest the duo grabbed a pair of house mics and had plenty to say to Hennig and Rude. The Nature Boy looks at Sting and says that apparently Hennig and Rude want to go old-school. 1989, WOOOO, was a good year for the Nature Boy and the Stinger. The very first Halloween Havoc was built on one match, THUNDERDOME! Sting says that Thunderdome is no ordinary cage match, it is the most dangerous, single ring, cage match ever devised. No pinfalls. No countouts. No disqualifications.
Naitch hates to interrupt, but hell, you can’t even quit to save your own life inside Thunderdome, and that is where Hennig and Rude want to play with Sting and the Naitch? Sting says that’s right, each team has designated TERMINATORS, a 3rd man in the cage with a towel in hand. The only way to win is for one team’s Terminator to throw in the towel for their team. So if this is the hell that Curt Hennig and Rick Rude want to go to with the Stinger and the Nature Boy, well WE ARE IN! And fella’s let us tell you one thing, we already have our Terminator in mind. And come hell or high water, he will not throw in the towel. It doesn’t matter how much Sting is bleeding, it doesn’t matter how much Flair is pleading, our guy will not throw in the towel. So how does it feel, knowing you are entering a match that YOU CAN’T WIN, AND WE CAN’T LOSE! WOOOOOOOOOOOO! OWWWWWWWW!

Main Event
United States Heavyweight Champ, Ricky ‘the Dragon Steamboat is defending against ‘The Total Package’ Lex Luger in a real barn burner. These two got heated early in the night, and you can see both men fighting with that passion here. Zbyszko points out that when a champion is so impassioned he is likely to forget that title matches are set up in his favor, do something stupid, and loses the title. The Dream feels that might be exactly what Luger was gunning for. And it was seemingly working as Steamboat rushed Luger and went shoulder first into the ringpost. Lex was setting him up for the Attitude Adjustment Piledriver when,
RICK MARTEL!
Leveled Luger in the back of the head with a chain, and then delivered a brutal shoulderbreaker not once, but twice to the hurting champion! Martel wipes the sweat of his body and flings it at both men, saying they got exactly what they deserved!
