10/12/96 - Brendan Byrne Arena East Rutherford, NJ
"Rock 'N Roll" Buck Zumhoff and his co-host with Captain Lou Albano welcome us to the exciting season premier of ECW Slammin's Saturdays live from the Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey! They talk about the action-packed show they have lined up for the kids here today where we'll get some interview time with the most... controversial Women's Champion of all-time; "The Gorgeous One" Michele Starr and his tag-team partner Joe E. Legend! Albano is sure with Buck and Michele in the same building; sparks will be flying here tonight! They then leave the rock 'n roll themed set and climb into their broadcast booth where they call the actions as Joel Gertner makes the intros for the first match of the evening! S.D. Jones officiates all the matches. All matches announced by Joel Gertner and officiated by S.D. Jones.
Match: Beulah McGillicutty vs. Velvet McIntyre
Beulah McGillicutty and Velvet McIntyre have a solid back and forth battle before McGillicutty hits the Beulahsault (moonsault) for the three count. Buck says he loves seeing Miss McGillicutty move and the Captain can't help but agree.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
"The Genius" Lanny Poffo tells us that the letter C can stands for things that are the same like Chump and Chris Candido. They can also stand for opposites like Candy. Yum! And Canada. Eew!
Match: Michele Starr & Joe E. Legend vs. Reckless Youth & Mike Quackenbush
Despite some innovative offense from youngsters Reckless Youth and Mike Quackenbush; the the team of "Gorgeous" Michele Starr and Joe E. Legend are too much for them to handle and after Legend flattens Youth with the Godzilla Chokebomb; Michele Starr hits the Falling Starr jumping Splash for good measure and makes the pin.
After the match we're brought the the Slammin' Saturdays set where Buck Zumhoff is flying solo. He says that the despite his personal opinions of... it; there's no denying that "The Gorgeous One" Michele Starr has been a dominant Women's Champion here in ECW so he'll have to put up with his next guests Starr and Joe E. Legend just like the rest of us.
Starr comes out and the kids don't know what to make of him. He talks about being different (which is one thing Buck can't deny him) and how to turn that into a strength like he did! He then offers to give the girls in attendance make-up tips; but none of them seem to want any. Which just proves they have good taste according to Zumhoff. He then thanks Michele for not being overly creepy today and Michele turns to leave before suddenly turning about and throws powder in the face of "the original Rock 'N Roller!" And as Buck coughs and backs away Legend grabs him by the throat and hits the Godzilla Chokebomb on him! The kids now look terrified as...
The camera then cuts to a "Rocking 'N Rolling" segment where The Honky Tonk Man invites the kids at home to listen to a song Michele Starr wishes was about him (but Honky will instead dedicate to Beulah) "Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Welcoming us back from the last commercial break of the evening Buck Zumhoff and Captain Lou Albano bring us back in time for the Wrestling Rewind Main Event all the way back from December 21st of 1994 where then Eastern States Champion "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam faced off against then and current ECW Champion "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson!
Main Event: Rob Van Dam vs. Arn Anderson
After posing for the crowds; Rob Van Dam hops off the turnbuckle and shakes hands with "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson before S.D. Jones starts the match. The two men walk about the ring sizing one another up before locking up. Rob moves in with a quick go behind but gets taken down with a snapmare by "The Enforcer;" who after several reversals traps RVD in a head scissors. Only momentarily however as the agile Van Dam jumps out and takes the seated Arn down with a sliding lariat. Back up and charging Anderson; Rob is soon dropped to the floor himself with a deep armdrag. Back on their feet RVD looks for the roundhouse kick, but Arn ducks it before countering with a clothesline which "Mr. Wednesday Night" in turn dodges. The two men stop in the middle of the ring and stare at one another before Rob Van Dam points to the shoulders taunting AA as the fans chant "Rob... Van... Dam!" Arn responds by kicking the showboat in the gut and attempts to follow that up with a fireman's carry slam; but Van Dam slides free and tries for a legsweep which Arn just jumps over. When Rob goes for another kick, Anderson grabs his leg but Rob Van Dam pops up with his other leg. Arn ducks that kick but is immediately caught off guard as Van Dam flips and rolls the Heavyweight Champ up! 1!... 2!
Arn reverses! 1! Van Dam kicks out!
Arn still has him though and nails a suplex on the Eastern States Champ before making the cover. 1!...2!
Rob kicks out again and rolls out of the ring. Arn waits patiently in the ring while Van Dam recovers on the outside. AA gets the crowd behind him and RVD rolls back in as Davis counts to three. The two Champs eye one another wearily before they go to lock up once again, but Van Dam instead kicks "The Enforcer" in the gut and begins punching and kicking him back toward the ropes where he goes for the Irish whip! Anderson reverses it however and on the rebound he hits Rob with a back body drop. Before RVD has a chance to recover Arn is ojn top of him hitting him with hard rights and clubbing forearms before sending him into the ropes. "Mr. Wednesday Night" ducks a clothesline; but when he attempts to counter; Arn spins about and connects with a second. Lifting Rob back to his feet, Arn clobbers him before running him face first into the turnbuckle. He then attempts to whip him across the ring; but Van Dam reverses and sends Arn crashing into the corner. Charging his opponent; RVD hits AA with a monkey flip that sends "The Enforcer" flying through the air and crashing to the mat. Before he can recover Van Dam is on him connecting with several kicks and stomps. Moving to lift Arn to his feet, Rob is in for a surprise when Anderson comes awake and begins hammering on the Eastern States Champ. He follows up with a kick and attempts for a vertical suplex; but RVD blocks it and after a failed attempt at a suplex of his own; settles for a DDT. He kicks Arn in the head before making the cover and comes away with a two. Looking a little furstrated Van Dam goes up top, but a dazed AA is back up on his feet and manages to crotch Rob in the corner before climbing up and connecting with a superplex! Both men are down on the ground writhing in pain for a while as Jones checks on them. Anderson is up first and rolls over onto his opponent. 1!...2!....
Rob kicks out! 3! Back on his feet Arn attempts to lift Van Dam; but his opponent catches him with a right hook before launching him into the corner with an armdrag. AA looks like he hits it pretty hard and RVD moves in with a series of stomps. Arn is bleeding and Jones stops Van Dam to check on him. "The Enforcer" moves the ref out of his way however and gabbing Van Dam throws him into the corner and begins hammering on him. Grabbing him he whips him into the corner and charges; but Van Dam hits him with an elbow to the face and hopping up onto the second rope drops Anderson with a kick to the chest. He goes for the Rolling Thunder! But Arn rolls out of the way! And getting up he grabs Van Dam's leg looking for the figure four! Rob fights and pushes Arn off however and as Arn pops up to his feet; RVD takes him right back down with a short clothesline. Van Dam stalks his prey and stomps Arn before getting the ref mad as he begins choking the Heavyweight Champ out on the bottom rope with a knee to the back. RVD breaks the hold as he is admonished by the ref. Arn Anderson is back up however and grabbing Van Dam by the shoulder spins him around right into a Spinning Spinebuster! He goes for the pin. 1!...2!...
Rob kicks out! Lifting the dazed Eastern States Champ up he begins chopping and pounding him across the ring into the corner where he continues the assault. Whipping Van Dam across the ring Arn finds himself sent into the corner as Rob reverses it and charges in with a striking spear. He connects with another shoulder block before flipping backward and hitting a third knocking Anderson to the ground. Walking over the the Heavyweight Champ Rob Van Dam hits a jumping spinning legdrop before making the cover. 1!...
Arn kicks out! Van Dam begins hammering Anderson as he gets to one knee; but Arn smacks him away before grabbing Van Dam up and hitting hits him hard with an inverted atomic drop. As Van Dam hits the ground; Arn grabs him from behind in a headlock and begins applying the pressure when the bell rings; ending the match. Arn Anderson lets Van Dam go and approaches referee S.D. Jones who delcares the match a Time Limit Draw! Anderson looks irritated and thr fans chant "five more minutes!" But the decision sticks and Arn turns to face Rob Van Dam who is back up on his feet. There's a tense momemnt where it looks like they will resume the match anyway; when Arn holds out his hand and the two men shake after a hard fought contest.
We're then brought backstage where ECW President Eric Bischoff seems happy to be returning to his office. He's is shocked to find a huge box inside! He smiles and says that someone must want a raise. It's large and takes him several second to open it before we get a look inside and see...
Lights Fade.

Match: Ron Simmons vs. Alex Porteau
Ron Simmons is ready for a fight as Alex Porteau comes down to the ring with his manager "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiease! The announcers tell us Simmons asked for this match when he was denied a match with Chris Benoit tonight. Honky says he feels sorry for Porteau because all Ron is gonna do is take his frustrations out on the young grappler. Alex is cocky as he gets in the ring and poses for the fans. He plays keep away with Simmons at first; but Ron soon grabs hold of his opponent and beats the hell out of him! He has just layed Porteau out with a Spinebuster and is about to make the cover when...
He is grabbed from behind by "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit! Benoit drops Simmons with a suplex before putting the boots to him! Alex is soon back up and helps Benoit out and it becomes pretty obvious Simmons was set up! Chris locks in the Crippler Crossface and it takes Ronni Garvin and his security team to pull him off and drag him to the back. Damn.

COMMERCIAL BREAK
Back from break we see a video package overview of ECW Champion Michele Starr and Joe E. Legend's feud with Weekend Warriors hosts "Rock 'N Roll" Buck Zumhoff and the Honky Tonk Man including Sex and Violence's defeat of the duo on last week's show and Starr's appearance on Slammin' Saturdays this morning when he threw make-up powdwer into the face of Buck Zumhoff who was then Chokebombed right in front of the kids by Joe E. Legend.
Match: Tiffany & Honky Tonk Man vs. Michele Starr & Joe E. Legend
"Gorgeous" Michele Starr holds up the Women's Title while the fans boo. He and Joe E. Legend look smugly confident as they wait in the ring. Tiffany and Michele Starr start things out and are evenly matched with Tiffany dropping Starr with a hurrancanrana before knocking him over the top rope with a dropkick! Michele sticks to punching and kicking her which is enough until she trips him up with a drop toe hold and tags in the Honky Tonk Man!
Michele begs him off pleading not to hit his face as he holds the Phantom of the Opera style mask in place. HTM isn't having it and gives chase pounding on Starr the whole way! Unfortunately he gets led into Starr's corner and he makes the tag to Legend! Together Michele and Joe pound on Honky before setting him up for a superplex which connects for a two count! Legend keeps Honky down for a while with stomps and clubbing forearms; but HTM rallies back and makes the tag to Tiffany! And Tiffany is all set to fight Legend! Davis won't have it though and order Joe to his corner where he makes the tag to Starr.
This time Tiffany goes right for the face mask, trying to pull it off and make more of a mess of his face! This throws Starr off his game while he screams and shouts for her to stop; but Tiffany keeps on top of him until he rakes her eyes! She goes down to one knee where Starr grabs a front headlock and plants her with a DDT! He then goes up top. Since when does Michele do a moonsault?! He doesn't as he takes too long and Tiffany recovers shaking the ropes and crotching him! This sets him up for the Iconoclasm which she hits before going for the cover! But she's grabbed from behind...
By Joe E. Legend?! He has a handful of hair and he picks her up and hits her hard with a powerslam! Davis can't believe it and calls for the bell disqualifying Sex and Violence! Honky Tonk Man can't believe it either and attacks Legend! Joe no-sells it however and grabbing HTM by the throat with both hands he proceeds to Godzilla Chokebomb Honky out of the ring to the cement floor below! Albano rushes to his side while Lanny Poffo who has been filling in for Honky during this match remains in his seat. As any "Genius" would do he claims.
After the match we're taken back stage for Captain Lou Albano's "Rock 'N Rolling" segment where he invites us to party with the overall # 1 Billboard hit so far this year; "Wonderwall" by Oasis!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Albano and Poffo are the last announcers standing as they welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening. They hype tonight's big Main Event which will see former Eastern States Champion Lord William Regal face off against Mexi-King member Homicide! They talk about Homicide since his arrival in ECW being one of their most violent competitors who feuded with Steve Corino over the summer with his Tag-Team partner Hernandez. They tell us that Homicide has been on shaky ground in the Kings of late following the arrival of Eddie Guerrero in ECW. He claims that Homicide didn't do enough to protect their rep in their feud with William Regal and wants him to prove himself here tonight by taking out the two time Eastern States Champion.
Gertner: The following contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from Brooklyn, New York weighing in at 205 lbs. and accompanied to the ring by Eddie Guerrero and Hernandez; he is Homicide!
The Mexi-Kings take over the ring with Hernandez and Homicide throwing some gang signs before Regal's music hits.
Gertner: And now introducing at this time his opponent this evening hailing from Blackpool, England weighing 243 lbs. Lord William Regal!
Main Event: William Regal vs. Homicide
William Regal and Homicide lock up which proves to be a mistake for the young grappler as His Lordship makes him look like a fool as he continually outwrestles him, wearing down his neck as he applies various holds. He keeps releasing Homicide, keeping an eye on Guerrero and Hernandez on the outside which is almost Regal's undoing as Homicide catches him off-guard with a barrage of punches and driving him into the corner hobbles Sir William with several knee strikes and clubbing blows before climbing up to the top rope and planting the former Eastern States Champ with a Tornado DDT! It only gets him a two count as Regal gets his shoulder up, but Homicide maintains control hitting a running bulldog before climbing up top and nailing Regal with a diving double foot stomp! He makes the cover, but Regal grabs him and rolls him up! 1!... 2!...
Homicide kicks out! And jumping up to his feet begins stomping out his still recovering opponent! William retreats to the corner where Homicide begins facewashing him with his boot before running back and kicking William in the face busting him open! He washes him some more before doing it again, but this time Regal rolls out of the way and Homicide gets caught up on the second rope! The man from Blackpool meanwhile drops from the ring and grabbing Homicide by the leg pulls it down hard over the second rope! This pisses off Hernandez who looks to intervene; but he's stopped by Eddie. William does it again before climbing back in and pounds on Homicide a bit before running him back into the ropes and whips him across the ring! Exploder suplex on the rebound dropping Homicide on his head! Regal keeps on his opponent and grabs him in a headlock punching him in the face. Homicide fights his way up to his feet but Regal forces him into the ropes grinding his opponent's face into the top rope! Regal is dripping blood as he pulls Homicide to the center of the ring and goes for a double underhook suplex! Homicide blocks it however. Regal goes for it again and once again it gets blocked! And now Homicide has wormed his way free! He and Sir William are going punch for punch in the center of the ring! Homicide kicks him in the gut and goes to set up the Gringo Kil- William Regal counters with a European uppercut sending the young thug down on his ass!
Regal goes right after Homicide, but he escapes into the ropes and Davis holds William back. While the ref isn't looking however Homicide has removed his gold chains and is busy wrapping them around his hand. And stumbling up to his feet he lets Regal have it with a hard right! Davis sees the gold and tries to get it off him, but Homicide keeps using the chains to pound Regal's head in! Davis calls for the bell DQing Homicide as he continues to bludgeon Regal! But William has reached into his tights and he fires back with the brass knucks! William Regal's face is a crimson mask as he begins unloading on Homicide with them! They hammer one another back and forth for a bit, but soon Homicide has been driven into the corner where he pounds Homicide into the canvas busting him open! Just then however His Lordship is pulled away by Ronnie Garvin and his security team! Regal seems to calm down as he's led away.
And into the ring comes Eddie Guerrero and Hernandez. They help Homicide out of the corner and Homicide looks real proud of himself. Eddie looks happy to patting their partner on the back. Guerrero then turns away before turning back to Homicide with a shrug and kicks him in the gut! He then lifts him up and hits him with a Brainbuster! Hernandez seems shocked but Eddie is grinning as he sits on the second rope and has him follow him from the ring! Hernandez seems to hesitate; but leaves with Guerrero.
Lights Fade.

Love seeing this side of Eddie. He don't need Homicide, that's for sure. Hernandez is all the muscle he needs. Can't wait for Regal and Guerrero to finally hook it up one-on-one. Speaking of Main Events, what an outstanding main event on Slammin Saturdays! RVD and Double A was a great match. Great choice of vids on these episodes as well. Love both those tracks, and yes Beulah is much deserving of the shoutout for Pretty Woman. That entire Oasis Album, "What's the Story Morning Glory" kicked so much ass. Don't Look Back in Anger is one of my all time favorite songs. Great work with Michelle Starr, glad Danny Davis DQ'd Joe for putting his hands on Tiff that was uncalled for. Almost as uncalled for as Godzilla Bombing Bucky in front of all the kiddos. The Tag Champs continue to impress me on a weekly basis. Dreamer and Dustin would make for a great team, and ECW is full of "perfect" opposition for them. While this couldn't be as good as Goldie and Cody vs. The Shield on Monday Night, it was close Good work Drago Peace Jeff
