KENJI WAKABAYASHI and KOTETSU YAMAMOTO open the show.
They welcome us to this week’s episode of Asahi TV’s “World Pro-Wrestling”!
On the program, Super Strong Machine, Tatsutoshi Goto and Hiro Saito of Raging Staff, face off with Shinya Hashimoto, Takayuki Iizuka and Akira Nogami. The commentators note that Iizuka and Nogami have formed a tag team, calling themselves the J-J-Jacks.
In a rematch from last week, Stan Hansen and Dan Spivey will face the Jurassic Powers of Scott Norton and Hercules Hernandez. After the previous match ended in a DQ, the promotion has decided that there will be no disqualifications this time!
And in the feature bout, the war rages on between the New Japan Seikigun and Heisei Ishingun, as Tatsumi Fujinami, Keiji Muto, Masahiro Chono and Hiroshi Hase represent Seikigun against Kengo Kimura, Shiro Koshinaka, Masa Saito and Masashi Aoyagi of Ishingun!
Before we get to the first match, we see highlights of some of the earlier matches on the card. The card began with Norio Honaga forcing Shinjiro Otani to submit to a Figure-4 Leglock.
Akitoshi Saito beat Yuji Nagata with a back jumping kick.
All Japan’s Akira Taue pinned Manabu Nakanishi after the Nodowa Otoshi.
Jushin Thunder Liger and Tiger Mask III beat El Samurai and Pegasus Kid when Liger pinned Pegasus with a Liger Bomb.
Wakabayashi informs the viewing audience that the next several weeks of TV, until September 9, will be highlight shows of the week-long G1 Climax!
RAGING STAFF: SUPER STRONG MACHINE & TATSUTOSHI GOTO & HIRO SAITO defeat SHINYA HASHIMOTO & TAKAYUKI IIZUKA & AKIRA NOGAMI. Hash joins up with the newly-teamed J-J Jacks, Iizuka and Nogami, to battle Raging Staff. Whenever Hashimoto is in the ring, he dominates the action, even he’s double or triple teamed, it’s short-lived, and he quickly battles back.
Iizuka and Nogami, however, don’t fare as well. After taking a beating, Iizuka gets dropped by a vicious Lariat from Super Strong Machine, and as the other members of Raging Staff stop anyone from breaking up the count, Machine covers Iizuka for the 1, 2, 3!
VTR: Last Week on World Pro-Wrestling:
Late in the match, all four men are brawling outside the ring, Dan Spivey rolls Hercules back in, and continues to pummel him. On the outside, Scott Norton grabs Hercules’ chain, and batters Hansen with it, and then tosses it into the ring. Hercules grabs the chain, wraps it around his fist, and starts punching Spivey in the face! The referee tries to stop him, but he gets a shot from the chain as well!
The referee is down and out as the two teams continue to brawl, but when he finally gets back to his feet and shakes off the cobwebs, he immediately calls for the bell, and awards the match to Hansen and Spivey by disqualification!
END VTR
Wakabayashi and Yamamoto inform us that Seiji Sakaguchi has agreed to both teams’ demands for a rematch, this time with a No DQ stipulation! Wakabayashi says that, considering the four men involved, this is far more likely to be a streetfight than a wrestling contest!
Yamamoto wonders why Sakaguchi would ever sign something like this!
Wakabayashi talks about a similar situation a few years back, when, after they couldn’t settle their differences in regular wrestling matches, Antonio Inoki and Masa Saito met in a No DQ match! Both men used a pair of handcuffs to render each other a bloody mess! He wonders if this match will end up the same way?
NO DISQUALIFICATIONS!
STAN HANSEN & DANNY SPIVEY defeat THE JURASSIC POWERS: SCOTT NORTON & HERCULES HERNANDEZ. In what should be no surprise to anyone, this match is a wild, bloody, brutal affair!
Just like last week, the two teams seem more interested in just pounding their opponents into oblivion than actually wrestling! It becomes clear that Hansen and Norton are the top guys for their respective teams. Hansen controls the match when he’s in with Hercules, and Norton does the same against Spivey. Hercules and Spivey, both massive human beings in their own right, seem pretty evenly-matched when they’re in the ring together.
Early on, the only time we see any interaction between Hansen and Norton is if they come to help out their respective partner. The real fun starts a few minutes in, when Hansen pummels Hercules, then whips him into the corner, and calls for Herc to tag Norton! Norton is eager to get his hands on Hansen as well, and tags in!
Hansen and Norton then tear into each other with reckless abandon, and the crowd is eating it up, cheering for every bomb that either man throws at the other!
In the end, during a wild brawl in the ring, with all four men bleeding, Hansen gets his hands on Herc’s chain! Hansen wraps the chain around his arm, then hits Hercules with a devastating LARIAT! That’s all she wrote for Hercules, as Hansen covers him for the 1, 2, 3!
NJPW SEIKIGUN: TATSUMI FUJINAMI & KEIJI MUTO & MASAHIRO CHONO & HIROSHI HASE defeat HEISEI ISHINGUN: KENGO KIMURA & SHIRO KOSHINAKA & MASA SAITO & MASASHI AOYAGI. Another chapter is written in the ongoing rivalry between the New Japan Seikigun and Heisei Ishingun.
The action goes back and forth, but late in the match, Fujinami gets the upper hand on the Karateka Masashi Aoyagi. Fujinami wears Aoyagi down, before locking on the Dragon Sleeper for the win!
The commentators remind the viewing audience that the next few weeks of TV, until September 9, will be highlight shows of the G1 Climax!
Wakabayashi and Yamamoto wrap things up.
