They welcome us to this week’s episode of Asahi TV’s “World Pro-Wrestling”!
Things have been heating up in Japan, as the three-way battle between Shiro Koshinaka’s Heisei Ishingun, Raging Staff and the New Japan Seikigun group, continues to rage on!
This week, Super Strong Machine and Hiro Saito, representing Raging Staff, will face a pair of Karateka in Heisei Ishingun’s Masashi Aoyagi and Akitoshi Saito!
Shinya Hashimoto and Kensuke Sasaki will represent Seikigun, as they square off with the top two members of Heisei Ishingun, Shiro Koshinaka and Kengo Kimura!
We’ll also see Keiji Muto battle the always dangerous former Judoka, Bad News Allen Coage!
And in our feature bout, it’s a big 6-man tag team match as Tatsumi Fujinami, Riki Choshu and Hiroshi Hase take on the powerhouse gaijin trio of Scott Norton, Doug Furnas and Hercules Hernandez!
Before we get to the first match, we see highlights of some of the earlier matches on the card. Things kicked off with Satoshi Kojima defeating Yuji Nagata by submission with a single-leg crab.
Jushin Liger and Tiger Mask III beat El Samurai and Shinjiro Ohtani when Liger pinned Ohtani with the Liger Bomb.
Masa Saito and Kuniaki Kobayashi of Heisei Ishingun beat Masahiro Chono and Akira Nogami when Saito pinned Nogami after the Saito Suplex.
As the wrestlers are coming to the ring for the opening bout of the TV show, the commentators note the presence of Mitsuharu Misawa, Genichiro Tenryu, Toshiaki Kawada and Kenta Kobashi, from All Japan Pro Wrestling, in the front row.
Yamamoto talks about how several wrestlers from New Japan showed up at an All Japan show earlier in the year, and it looks like the All Japan wrestlers have responded in kind!
RAGING STAFF: SUPER STRONG MACHINE & HIRO SAITO defeat HEISEI ISHINGUN: MASASHI AOYAGI & AKITOSHI SAITO. Super Strong Machine recently joined up with the Blond Outlaws to form Raging Staff, and they’ve been on a tear ever since. They meet the karatekas-turned-pro-wrestlers Aoyagi and Saito here. The Heisei Ishingun members use their martial arts expertise to gain an early advantage, but in the end, Super Strong Machine takes over, and drops Saito with a vicious Lariat for the 1, 2, 3!
KEIJI MUTO defeats BAD NEWS ALLEN. Most people think of Allen as just a street fighter, but he’s also very accomplished in judo, and he utilizes the judo throws here, to keep Muto off-guard. Of course, we also see plenty of brawling from Allen, and he enjoys an early advantage, and it looks like he might have Muto’s number.
Keiji is one of the top wrestlers in the world, though, and he eventually battles back and gains the upper hand in the match. As we near the 10-minute mark, things really pick up, as both men hit several big moves on the other, and we see several very close nearfalls from both men.
In the end, Muto drops Allen with a Dragon suplex, hits the Flashing Elbow, then heads to the top rope and connects with a Moonsault! That’s all she wrote for Allen, and Muto gets the 1, 2, 3!
As Muto is leaving the ring, he walks past the All Japan wrestlers in the first row, and there’s a brief staredown between him and Mitsuharu Misawa!
HEISEI ISHINGUN: SHIRO KOSHINAKA & KENGO KIMURA defeat SEIKIGUN: SHINYA HASHIMOTO & KENSUKE SASAKI. The younger team puts up a good fight here, but in the end, an assisted Powerbomb from Koshinaka drives Sasaki into the mat, and Shiro gets the 1, 2, 3!
Before the main event, we go to the gaijin team, Scott Norton, Doug Furnas and Hercules Hernandez in the hallway outside their dressing room.
Norton tells the people watching to take a good look at them, they are the most powerful team that Japan has ever seen, and there’s no way Fujinami, Choshu and Hase can match their power!
Hercules says that the match may not be pretty, but the three of them are simply going to pound their opponents into oblivion!
TATSUMI FUJINAMI & RIKI CHOSHU & HIROSHI HASE defeat SCOTT NORTON & HERCULES HERNANDEZ & DOUG FURNAS. The gaijin team tries to make good on their pre-match statement, and throw technical wrestling out the window in favour of simply overpowering their opponents.
However, Fujinami turns the tide of the match when Furnas attempts to kick him in the gut, but Fuji catches his leg, then delivers a brutal Dragon Screw Leg Whip, leaving Furnas clutching at his knee on the mat! From that point on, Fujinami, Choshu and Hase target Furnas’ knee, and keep him in the ring, taking turns working over the knee.
Several times, Norton and Hernandez have to come in to help Furnas.
In the end, as Fujinami and Hase brawl with Norton and Hernandez outside the ring, Riki Choshu locks Furnas in the Scorpion Lock. Furnas fights the pain for as long as he can, but with Norton and Hercules both busy on the outside, Furnas has no choice but to submit!
After the match, Fujinami, Choshu and Hase celebrate in the ring while their opponents head to the back. Suddenly, the All Japan wrestlers hop the guardrail and enter the ring!
There’s a heated confrontation between the New Japan wrestlers and the All Japan group! Referees and young lions get in between the two sides before things can get physical, but the two groups continue to yell back and forth at each other as they’re removed from the ring!
Wakabayashi and Yamamoto wrap things up, and hype next week’s show.
