Don Coss and Stan Stasiak open the program.
Coss, “Welcome to the ‘House of Action’! Portland Wrestling is back on the air! Crusher Stasiak is with me, and we are ready to go!”
Stasiak, “That’s right Don, Portland has always been the place for wrestling action, and Don Owen is back in business.”
Coss, “We have a lot to see, and talk about tonight. We will introduce you to some people you know, and some new wrestlers. We are going to talk about titles, and our first ‘Portland Special’, and we have a great main event, the Grappler meets the legendary Jimmy Snuka. Let’s go right to Don Owen!”
Owen, “Fans, I can’t tell you how happy I am to be back here. We’ve had calls from all over the world with wrestlers wanting to come to Portland. If they all get here, they won’t fit in the building. Now, we are ready for our first match.”
Match #1
DJ Peterson vs. Barry Horowitz
The muscular Peterson takes on the skilled Horowitz. Barry uses his mat skill to offset DJ’s power. Peterson starts to take over, and Horowitz tries underhanded tactics. DJ recovers and uses a powerslam for the win.
Winner- DJ Peterson
Match #2
The Tonga Kid vs. Mike Davis
The young, and popular man from Tonga gets a huge ovation from the Sports Arena crowd. Davis is one half of the Rock and Roll RPMs. This will be a great match. Both men are on top of their games. The match is fast paced. Davis has his chances, but Tonga slams him, and climbs to the top rope. He hits the big splash, and referee Sandy Barr counts the fall.
Winner- The Tonga Kid
Crusher Stasiak is with Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express.
Stasiak, “With me is one of the best tag teams in the world, and their manager, who has the biggest mouth in wrestling, Jim Cornette.”
Cornette, “Watch it Stasiak, somebody who’s wearing Herman Munster’s hand me down shouldn’t say anything. People know me, and people know the Midnight Express. My Mama called us in, and gave us three plane tickets to Portland. The airline had to give them away, because who wants to go to Portland. We came her because Don Owen called, he couldn’t remember our names, but he asked us to come wrestle. We’ve won titles everywhere we’ve been, and this podunk area is next!”
Stasiak, “I told you he had a big mouth, but his men can wrestle.”
Match #3
The Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette vs. Curtis Thompson and Mark Starr
Cornette takes the mic from Owen.
Cornette, “Here Owen, it’s past your bedtime, let me do this. These two men are about to impress all you people, not that it’s too hard, but Beautiful Bobby, and Sweet Stan, the Midnight Express!”
This would be a great one. Eaton and Thompson open the contest. Curtis is very strong, and Bobby is one of the best ring technicians in the business. Both men are sharp. The action goes back and forth. Starr tags in, and the Englishmen holds his own. Cornette is obnoxious at ringside. Lane enters, and the Express takes over. They hit the veg-o-matic on Starr for the win. Cornette has a winning team on his hands.
Winners- The Midnight Express
Match #4
Dutch Mantell vs. Tommy Lane
The other half of the Rock and Roll RPMs meets the tough veteran from Oilthrough, TX. Lanes takes to the air, but Mantell counters with a rugged ground based attack. This is another close contest. Dutch clamps on the cobra hold, and Tommy cannot escape.
Winner- Dutch Mantell
Crusher Stasiak is with Col DeBeers, Nikita Koloff, Nikolai Volkoff, and Boris Zhukov.
Stasiak, “Our next ‘guests’, are four men who hate America. DeBeers, tell us why you’re here.”
DeBeers, “Typical stupidity from an American like you. I am Col DeBeers from the famous DeBeers from the Republic of South America, and I’m here to take over wrestling in this worthless country. I used my considerable resources to bring in three incredible athletes from the Soviet Union. First of all, ‘The Russian Nightmare’ Nikita Koloff, and the Bolshiviks, Nikolai Volkoff and Boris Zhukov. Together we will destroy every American wrestler in our paths! This country will surrender like it always does, and the DeBeers name will control everything,
Stasiak, “I hate to say it, but these guys can back it up.”
Match #5
Nikita Koloff w/Col DeBeers vs. Bret Sawyer
“The Russian Nightmare” is a monster. He attacks Sawyer before the bell. Bret gives up a lot of size, but he is game. He puts up a fight, but he is overwhelmed. Koloff punishes him, but refuses to pin him. Finally, he hits the Russian sickle, and covers him for the win. DeBeers is not finished. He comes into the ring and reaches into his military jacket. He pulls out the Russian flag, and he covers Sawyer with it. There is no “Perestroika” with this group.
Winner- Nikita Koloff
Don Coss is in the Crow’s Nest.
Coss, “Fans, it’s been a great night in the ‘House of Action’, and our main event is coming up. We have a lot to talk about in the coming weeks. First and foremost, we don’t have any champions at this time. We are going to remedy that problem. One of the best known features around here are the ‘Portland Specials’. We have scheduled our first one. September 5 is the date at the Portland Sports Arena at 8725 North Chautauqua Boulevard. We will determine our champions on that night. We will determine the Pacific Northwest Singles Champion, and the Pacific Northwest Tag Team Championship. In the coming weeks we will announce how these titles will be determined. Stay tuned to ‘Portland Wrestling’. Our main event is next.”
Match #6
Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka vs. The Grappler
“Superfly” is legendary in the Pacific Northwest. The Grappler is a well known rule breaker. Sandy Barr calls for the bell, and we are underway. Both veterans are on their game. The crowd is solidly behind their favorite, and Jimmy gives them what they want. He tosses the masked man to the floor. It appears that the Grappler rolls under the ring. Barr and Snuka are both surprised. Suddenly, the Grappler? Comes out from the other side and rolls into the ring. He catches Snuka by surprise. He rolls him up, grabs the tights, and a surprised Barr counts the fall! What happened? The Grappler upsets “Superfly”!
Winner- The Grappler
Coss, “What just happened, where did the Grappler come from? Anyway, ‘Portland Wrestling’ is back on the air. Join us next week, our main event will feature another Northwest legend, Rip ‘The Crippler’ Oliver as he takes on one of the favorite sons of the Northwest, Jesse Barr. Don’t miss it!”
