They welcome us to this week’s episode of “All Japan Pro Wrestling”!
This week, the Can-Am Express, Dan Kroffat and Doug Furnas, will face the Fantastics, Bobby and Jackie Fulton, to determine the top contenders to the All Asia tag team titles, currently held by Kenta Kobashi and Tsuyoshi Kikuchi!
We’ll see Kobashi in action as well, he’ll team with Triple Crown champion Mitsuharu Misawa to face the NJPW team of Tatsumi Fujinami and Masahiro Chono!
And, the feature bout will see Toshiaki Kawada and Akira Taue make the first defense of their World tag team titles against another team from New Japan, Hiroshi Hase and Kensuke Sasaki!
ALL ASIA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP, TOP CONTENDERS MATCH:
THE CAN-AM EXPRESS: DOUG FURNAS & DAN KROFFAT defeat THE FANTASTICS: BOBBY & JACKIE FULTON. The match is already in progress when the show begins, with the Fantastics firmly in control. The Fultons work over Dan Kroffat, keeping him isolated in their corner. Kroffat reverses a whip into the ropes, sending Bobby Fulton into the ropes instead, but Fulton ducks a clothesline, and then when Kroffat turns around, Bobby nails him right on the chin with a standing dropkick!
The Fantastics keep control of the match for the next few minutes, but they can’t keep Kroffat down for the three-count. Kroffat finally makes the hot tag to Doug Furnas, the powerhouse of the team, and he slows things down, taking Bobby Fulton down to the mat, and wearing him down.
Furnas whips Bobby into the ropes, and then attempts a Frankensteiner on Bobby, but Fulton drops forward, driving Furnas into the mat with a Powerbomb! Furnas kicks out at 2, but he’s in rough shape after that, and the Fantastics take control again.
Kroffat and Jackie Fulton both come in to help their respective partners, and during the melee, Kroffat hits Bobby Fulton with a Tiger Driver, but when Furnas covers him, Bobby kicks out at 2!
Furnas tags Kroffat in, and the pace picks up, as both teams are getting desperate to put the other away. After some fast paced back and forth action, Kroffat catches Jackie Fulton with a Tiger Driver and he gets the 1, 2, 3!
The Can-Am Express have earned the right to challenge for the All Asia tag team titles!
We see a video package focusing on Tatsumi Fujinami since he, along with the other NJPW wrestlers, arrived in All Japan. The video ends with footage of Fujinami beating Mitsuharu Misawa in their Champion Carnival match.
MITSUHARU MISAWA & KENTA KOBASHI defeat TATSUMI FUJINAMI & MASAHIRO CHONO (NJPW). In the early going, it’s mostly Kobashi and Chono in the ring. They’re very evenly matched, and they put on a clinic for the fans! As the match progresses, we finally get the match-up that the fans have been waiting for, as Fujinami works over Kobashi, until Kenta tags in Misawa! Misawa and the Dragon stand nose to nose and jaw back and forth, before tearing into each other!
On commentary, Wakabayashi reminds us that Misawa and Fujinami will go one on one for the Triple Crown on the August 12 TV show from Nippon Budokan!
In the end, the All Japan team gets the win when Kobashi connects with a Moonsault on Chono for the 1, 2, 3!
VTR: Jushin Liger vs Tiger Mask III, 5-3-93, JIP:
The match is fast and furious, both men give it their all for the Tokyo Dome fans. We see some innovative high flying from both men. Liger eventually gains the upper hand, and looks to be on his way to victory. When he sets TM up for the top-rope Frankensteiner, Tiger Mask is somehow able to block it, and instead jumps off the turnbuckle, driving Liger into the mat with a brutal Powerbomb!
Liger looks to be out, but Tiger Mask picks him up, and delivers the Tiger Suplex for the 1, 2, 3!!!!!
What an upset! The youngster, Tiger Mask III, has just pinned the World Jr heavyweight champion Jushin Thunder Liger in front of 50,000+ in the Tokyo Dome!
After getting his hand raised, Tiger Mask takes the house mic and asks Liger for a shot at the World Jr heavyweight title. Liger accepts, and the two men shake hands.
END VTR
The commentators say that Tiger Mask III will get his shot at the World junior heavyweight title on next week’s show!
WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP:
TOSHIAKI KAWADA & AKIRA TAUE (champs) (1st defense) defeat HIROSHI HASE & KENSUKE SASAKI (NJPW). Kawada and Taue make the first defense of their World tag team titles here, against two of the invading wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling!
The match is shown in full on TV, about 23 minutes of hard-hitting, back and forth action! In the end, the champions successfully defend their titles when Taue pins Sasaki after the Nodowa Otoshi!
Wakabayashi, Takeuchi and Baba wrap things up. They hype next week’s show, which will see Jushin Thunder Liger defend the World junior heavyweight title against Tiger Mask III, Toshiaki Kawada faces Riki Choshu, and Mitsuharu Misawa meets Masahiro Chono in a non-title match!
