Jim Ross welcomes the fans to Smoky Mountain Wrestling, the wrestling the way you like it, the way it is supposed to be. We are about 4 weeks away from Volunteer Slam on May 7th and what a heck of a show. Today though we are going to see The Thrill Seekers in action. Chris Candido makes his return. Jeff Jarrett will take on Tully Blanchard and in the main event, “White Lightning” Tim Horner will put his national television title on the line against “Wild Eyed Southern Boy” Tracy Smothers. He also says we will hear from “Bullet” Bob regarding Volunteer Slam. Right now we head to the ring for the action.

Jericho & Storm are in the ring when they are rushed by two guys from the back. The two deliver a heinous attack that goes on until officials can split them up. They rush back to the back before anyone can figure out who they are. As Ross wonders, Jim Cornette comes out with his men. Cornette says that his Midnight Express taught the Rock N’ Roll Express a lesson last week. Yeah, they may have won the match, but it wasn’t the Midnights who were helped out of the ring. One thing he has to say though is this…Dick Slater & Robert Fuller had no business getting involved. Cornette doesn’t want any trouble but if the Stud Stable want some, The Midnights are used to being the world tag team champions. Now…he turns his attention to the SMW tag team champions, The Armstrongs. Now, he is not talking about the cry baby Brian. He isn’t talking about that also ran Brad. He is talking about the middle kids, Steve & Scott. The two of them share one brain and if you put it in a parakeet, the bird would fly backwards. They get to put their tag team titles against his Heavenly Bodies and when that happens… Cornette will be a happy man.

Chris Candido comes out to the announce table with JR. He says he is back because he wants the US junior heavyweight championship held by Brian Christopher. That belt should be his and it will be his as soon as Christopher gives him a title shot. As a matter of fact, he wants his shot soon or else. He demands JR watch his match to see what he will do to Christopher.

Candido goes to walk back to the back when “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert comes out to some crowd boos and the shock of Jim Ross. Gilbert tells Candido to wait a minute. He tells JR to just listen and all will be explained. Gilbert says that he came here originally in defense of the Memphis Mafia since they were being overlooked and passed on. But what he sees now is this group, the Horsemen have come here and now Lawler understands what “Hotstuff” was saying. Candido asks what that has to do with him and Gilbert says he is getting to it. What he is offering is if Brian Christopher will step aside, Gilbert is offering himself to join Lawler’s team. Now, if Lawler accepts, that will leave Christopher free to defend the US junior heavyweight title against Candido. Candido says he likes that idea. Gilbert asks JR to pass that to Lawler and they can let him know next week, especially since the USWA world heavyweight champion isn’t here this week. JR says he will and we head to commercial with Candido still talking to Gilbert.

We are back and JR is with the Smoky Mountain heavyweight champion “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel. He tells JR that on May 7th he has a match against Brad Armstrong. He wants Armstrong to understand something he wants to make very clear. He is the champion. It don’t matter what belt Lawler holds. It don’t matter what belt Brian Christopher holds. It don’t matter what belt Tim Horner, that punk, holds. What matters is the belt held by “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel. So, on May 7th in Knoxville, he will beat the brains out of Brad Armstrong. He leaves as Jeff Jarrett heads to the ring for his match against Tully Blanchard.

Jeff Jarrett def. Tully Blanchard w. JJ Dillion Via DQ after Windham joins in to jump Jarrett

Windham, Blanchard, and Dillon get their beats in until Jarrett is saved by “Dirty White Boy” and Eddie Gilbert. The Horsemen rush out of the ring as Brian Christopher comes down too. Christopher stares at Gilbert while the rest check on Jarrett but the damage is already done. Jarrett is holding his arm and shoulder and is hurt. Gilbert goes to take the mic but it is taken from him by Christopher who asks Gilbert who the hell does he think he is? First Lawler comes down, takes off Christopher’s belt and throws it down like he owns it. Then now, Gilbert is trying to take his spot in this huge match AND get him to defend his title belt. Gilbert tries to calm down Christopher who is having none of it. Christopher tells Gilbert that he was the one who was here while Gilbert ran away so he will be the one to stay on this team. Gilbert again tries to calm Christopher down but Christopher still is not doing that. Christopher says that Gilbert does not and will not ever speak for him before leaving. Gilbert is silent but smiles as we go to commercial break.
