"Atlantic Wrestling"
Transmission Date: 8/04/1993
TV Transmission: ITV 1 in the UK, Eurosport in Europe and RUSSIA-1 in the former Soviet Republics
Hosts: Dynamite Kid and Jim Rosenthal
Jim Rosenthal and Dynamite Kid are at ringside for another edition of "Atlantic Wrestling", ahead of a huge night at the Albert Hall, airing live on 15/4/1993.
So far in the Atlantic Heavyweight Championship tournament, "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright, American technical wrestling wizard Dean Malenko and "The Anarchist" Douglas Williams have advanced. Tonight, we have the final quarter-final eliminator match:
Norman Smiley (UK) vs. David Taylor (UK)
Plus, American tag team Rick and Scott Steiner are here to face Giant Haystacks and Karl Krammer to find out who will battle The Golden Boys, Rob Brookside and "Doc" Dean', at the Albert Hall to become the Atlantic Tag Team Champions.
In our first match of the night, Rambo returns to the UK to take on Buffalo Breheny. Rambo is fresh off a stint in the Catch Wrestling Association and just missed a spot in the Atlantic Heavyweight Championship tournament. However, he makes a case for himself as a top contender as he decisively puts Buffalo down and then forces him to submit to a modified Boston Crab.
A filmed segment airs showing Finnish wrestler Ludvig Borga supposedly touring through "the East End of London" and sneering at the way British people live in poverty. Borga describes himself as a "Super Athlete", essentially genetically engineered to be superior to anyone else in the work. Borga laughs at the idea of anyone else from Europe being able to challenge him because he was built for glory.

Rambo is standing by with Jim Rosenthal at ringside and says he's excited to be back home. Rambo admits he's disappointed to have missed a spot in the AWF Atlantic Heavyweight Championship tournament but he expects to have championship gold around his waste in very little time! Rambo then turns his attention to “Super Athlete” Ludvig Borga's comments and says that while he isn't British himself, he loves the people in the UK and won't put up with Borga running them down!
As the next match gets under way, Jim Rosenthal announces that AWF will also soon be crowning an Atlantic Junior Heavyweight Champion. One of the men competing is the "new" Black Tiger, managed by "Maniac" Mark Rocco. Viewers get their first look at this second Black Tiger here as he tangles with the rookie Phil Powers. Rocco is shouting strategy as Black Tiger hits impressive snap suplexes and then a frog splash off the rope rope. He's not finished yet as, under instruction from his manager, Black Tiger plants Powers with a leaping tombstone piledriver to gain the academic pinball victory.
Footage is shown of American tag team, Rick and Scott Steiner, arriving in London this week and touring the sites. The Steiners are shown meeting fans and signing autographs, before loading up at a chip shop. To finish off their site-seeing tour, the Steiners stop in at the historic Old Bell tavern on Fleet Street to have a few pints with the locals.

At ringside, Jim Rosenthal speaks with "Maniac" Mark Rocco and the "new" Black Tiger. Rosenthal speaks about how Rocco used to wear the mask of Black Tiger many years ago, only for Rocco to insist those were mere "rumours". Rosenthal logically questions what his connection to this new Black Tiger is then. Rocco sneers as he tells Rosenthal that the original Black Tiger has entrusted him to guide this "second coming" in British rings because he knows nobody knows them better than Rocco. The Maniac insists that nobody could ever prove who was originally under the Black Tiger mask and they'll never know this new man's identity either.
Atlantic Wrestling goes back to the squared circle as the final quarter-final match in the Atlantic Heavyweight Championship tournament gets under way with Norman Smiley facing David Taylor. Dynamite Kid speaks about how these two men know each other extremely well and are ready for whatever the other may throw at them. According to Kid, this match will come down to whoever makes a mistake first. Indeed, that proves to be correct as this match stretches past 15 minutes because the two men are so evenly matched. In the end, there's a surprise as Douglas Williams makes his out and seemingly slips Taylor something while he's on the floor. As Norman Smiley goes to suplex Taylor back in the ring, Taylor clocks him in the forehead with the foreign object. Taylor comes crashing down on Smiley and makes the cover for the three count. After the match, Williams and Taylor make a hasty exit - though Dynamite Kid questions why Williams would be helping a man he'd have to face in the tournament.

A filmed segment with "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright airs as he is shown appearing on ITV Sport's rugby coverage over the weekend. Alex is shown touring the grounds and then shaking hands with the fans in public. He is interrupted as Swedish Olympian Frank Andersson arrives and questions why Wright is being given the grand tour? Andersson mentions that Wright has never won an Olympic medal, and in fact, he's never won a wrestling championship of any kind. Wright has had about enough of Andersson and so he shoves the Olympian. Andersson pretends to back off and then jumps Wright from behind and throws him head-first into a row of seats before taking off. Wright is back up, even if he's wobbly, insisting he's going to catch up with Andersson!
The featured match this week on Atlantic Wrestling will determine who will face Rob Brookside and "Doc" Dean for the Atlantic Tag Team Championships at the Albert Hall. Footage is shown from last week where Johnny Polo's duo of The Viking and The Warlord jumped the Golden Boys after the quarter-final match - and Rosenthal announces that Brookside and Dean luckily only suffered minor injuries. In the ring now, Rick and Scott Steiner of America face off against the legendary Giant Haystacks and Karl Krammer. There is a commotion early on as accomplished Red Bull Army (Salman Hashimikov and Victor Zangiev) are led to ringside to watch this match closely. In the ring, the Steiners rush the ring to brawl with Haystacks and Krammer. Rick manages to drill Karl Krammer with one of his 'Steinerlines' as Scott brawls with Giant Haystacks. The two Steiners are able to get Haystacks rocking, before Rick comes off the second rope with a bulldog to topple the massive Haystacks. Rick covers and gets the three count to advance to the championship match.
As the Steiners have their hands raised, Hashimikov and Zangiev rise at ringside and begin shouting at the Americans. The Steiners invite the Red Bull Army to come to the ring - but as Hashimikov and Zangiev jump the ringside rail, officials and wrestlers flood the scene to prevent them for getting to the Steiners.
With this situation spiraling out of control, Jim Rosenthal and Dynamite Kid quickly wrap up this week's edition of Atlantic Wrestling.
