Atlantic Wrestling Federation
Transmission Date: 1/04/1993
TV Transmission: ITV 1 in the UK, Eurosport in Europe and RUSSIA-1 in the former Soviet Republics
Hosts: Dynamite Kid and Jim Rosenthal
Jim Rosenthal and expert commentator Dynamite Kid preview two major tournament matches, one for the Atlantic Heavyweight Champion and one for the Atlantic Tag Team Championships. Both will culminate at the Albert Hall on 15/4/93 - airing live here on ITV 1.
Danny Boy Collins (UK) vs. "The Anarchist" Douglas Williams (UK)
Collins has a few years on Williams but he is also seen very much as standard bearer of British Wrestling in the post-Big Daddy era. The cousin of Dynamite Kid's former partner Davey Boy Smith, Collins controls the pace early and pays tribute to Davey with a running power-slam for a two count. Collins slips up when he comes off the second rope with a diving headbutt, only for Williams to move. The action takes us through a commercial break as Williams fights his way back. Williams catches Collins in a sleeper, and while it looks like it might be cover, Danny eventually slams The Anarchist backward into the corner. Collins goes to scoop up Williams for a running power-slam, but The Anarchist slips out the back, hooks the waist and plants him with a German suplex for the pin. Collins offers his hand after the match, but Williams just laughs and leaves the ring.
Following the match, Norman Smiley joins Jim Rosenthal to talk about his own qualifier next week against Taylor. It's all about the fundamentals and Smiley is well trained in that department. The interview is interrupted by "The Ambassador" Steven Casey accusing Smiley of setting a bad example for British Wrestling by getting involved in his match last week! Casey thinks it's only right that Smiley apologize to him and then Casey can get back to work in his ambassadorial duties for the pin. Smiley contemplates Casey's demands and then says he is sorry - he's sorry he didn't do *this* last week. Smiley pops Casey with a right hand and sends The Ambassador scurrying.

Olympian Frank Andersson once against speaks with Jim Rosenthal and apologizes for getting last week when Jim asked "hostile" questions. Andersson is dripping smarm as he says Rosenthal, nor anyone in AWF, are truly capable of engaging with an athlete like himself. Not only is Andersson physically gifted but he also has a brain that allowed to think four moves ahead at the 1984 Olympics - where he won a Bronze medal, he'd like to remind Rosenthal. Jim tells Frank that nobody has forgotten his Olympic success since he wears the medal to the ring... and is wearing right now.
"Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright makes his way out now and questions why Andersson is acting this way when they've trained together in the past with his father Steve? Andersson laughs and calls Steve Wright "nothing more than a sparring partner", a warm body capable of taking some punishment. Wright doesn't like that at all, as he tells Andersson that before too long, he'll have to put his money where his mouth is inside that ring. Andersson then wishes Wright luck in the title tournament... because he'll be the easiest possible champion to challenge in the future! Wright warns Andersson his overconfidence could come back to bite him. While they argue, Rosenthal sends us back to the ring.
The Viking and The Warlord w/ Johnny Polo vs. "Doc" Dean and Robbie Brookside
The live crowd are completely behind Dean and Brookside as they face some long odds against these two American monsters. Polo is calling the shots on the floor as his men completely dominate through the first commercial break. When we come back for our final minutes, Brookside finally dodges a flying knee from Viking. Brookside makes the hot tag to "Doc" Dean, who comes off the top rope with a flying dropkick that splays out The Viking. Warlord tags in and has to endure some more dropkicks from Dean. The crowd sense this one could be on the verge of being over and they are chanting for the so-called 'Liverpool Lads'. Dean goes up top once again and comes flying off with cross-body block on Warlord and stays on top for the one... two... three! The Brits advance to Albert Hall!
As soon as the bell rings, The Viking has re-entered the ring and drops a knee across Dean's neck. Brookside is in but he gets swatted in the back by Johnny Polo's mallet. Warlord and Viking send Brookside off the ropes and hit a double shoulder block, before Viking goes up for a flying knee! Johnny Polo's Americans may have not won the match but they've won the war here.
