Atlantic Wrestling Federation
Transmission Date: 18/03/1993
TV Transmission: ITV 1 in the UK, Eurosport in Europe and RUSSIA-1 in the former Soviet Republics
Hosts: Dynamite Kid and Jim Rosenthal
Jim Rosenthal of ITV Sports is joined at ringside by the legendary Dynamite Kid for the return of Wrestling on ITV. The duo talk about an upcoming tournament to crown the Atlantic Heavyweight Champion - culminating a massive show at the Lord Albert Hall on April 15, 1993.
Wrestling on ITV will broadcast the finals of the single-elimination Atlantic Heavyweight Championship tournament live on that night, and we can now unveil the bracketing:
Alex Wright (GER) vs. Karl Kramer (UK)
Dean Malenko (US) vs. Steve Casey (UK)
Douglas Williams (UK) vs. Danny Collins (UK)
Norman Smiley (UK) vs. Dave Taylor (AUS)
Let's go down to the ring for the first tournament match, as Rosenthal and Dynamite explain that AWF operates under Western-style rules of one-fall, unless specified in special matches.
Alex Wright (GER) vs. Karl Kramer (UK)
The son of wrestling legend Steve Wright looks to be a star of the future but he hits a veritable brick wall in Kramer. Kramer uses his power to beat down Wright, only to get rolled up out of nowhere for Alex to pull out a surprise victory.
At ringside, Alex Wright tells Jim Rosenthal about how he spent so much of his childhood in the UK with his father Steve - and it would mean the world to him to become the Atlantic Heavyweight Champion. Wright knows it will be a long road to the finals but he will put himself to the test.

VTR footage shows bodybuilder August Smisl - known as 'The Austrian Atlas' - performing feats of strength with relative easy, including ripping phone books apart and pulling a car behind him. Smisl is subtitled as he promises that defeating everyone in AWF will just as easy as his feats of strength because there's nobody on earth who can match his power.
Jim Rosenthal is joined at ringside by manager Johnny Polo, who boasts about his family's aristocratic ties even if he prefers Palm Beach to dreary London. Polo has brought the two most vicious men from America to AWF in order to win the AWF Tag Team Championships.
The Viking and The Warlord w/ Johnny Polo vs. Phil Powers and Chris Stallion
The frightening duo of The Viking and The Warlord storm the ring to absolutely destroy their young opponents. After Warlord sends Stallion off the ropes for a series of shoulder-blocks, The Viking comes off the top rope with a flying knee. Rather than pin his opponent, The Viking demands the referee count out Stallion - and his opponent doesn't evens stir before the count of 20. Johnny Polo jumps in the ring to raise the arms of his American monsters.

"The Anarchist" Douglas Williams joins Jim Rosenthal at ringside, where Rosenthal refers to him as a 'wrestling prodigy' of sorts. In spite of being a rookie, he has had tremendous success in rings across the country. Williams isn't shy about referring to himself as a future world champion and insists he will be the man to become Atlantic Heavyweight Champion at the Albert Hall. Rosenthal questions whether Williams is quite ready yet to be in the ring with veterans like Norman Smiley and Steven Casey - but Williams insists that he's already twice the man of any other wrestling in the British rings today. The future of British Wrestling is Douglas Williams - and the future begins right now.
"The Anarchist" Douglas Williams vs. Chic Cullen
Williams gets to test his theory against veteran Chic Cullen, with the match essentially serving as a showcase for Williams. The so-called Anarchist looks to be in a different class than the grizzled veteran Cullen and he eventually scores the pin with a belly-to-back suplex bridged into a pinning combination.
The popular tag team of "Doc" Dean and Robbie Brookside joining Jim Rosenthal at ringside to speak about the crowning of the Atlantic Tag Team Championships at the same Albert Hall show where the Atlantic Heavyweight Champion is crowned. Rosenthal mentions The Viking and The Warlord have already staked their claims, and while Dean and Brookside put them over as real threats, they believe nobody can stop them on the road to becoming champions. Dean talks about how the people have been behind them for years now and they feel the momentum is on their side.
Jim Rosenthal announces Wrestling on ITV will feature two contender's matches in the coming weeks, as soon as promoter Mick McManus e and his championship decide on four teams worthy of being in the match.
More on that, next week!
