They welcome us to this week’s episode of “All Japan Pro Wrestling”!
This week, Bam Bam Bigelow will be in singles action against the youngster Takao Omori!
The Can-Am Express, Dan Kroffat and Doug Furnas will face Mighty Inoue and Haruka Eigen!
The new World tag team champs, the Miracle Violence Connection, will square off with the Fantastics in a non-title match!
Toshiaki Kawada and Kenta Kobashi will meet the team of Scott Norton and Johnny Ace!
And, our feature bout, the rivalry between Tenryu and his group, and Misawa’s Super Generation Army continues! Misawa, Kikuchi and Akiyama will face Tenryu, Taue and Yatsu!
BAM BAM BIGELOW defeats TAKAO OMORI. Bigelow is a monster of a man, but he’s also surprisingly quick and agile! This catches Omori off guard, as his plan seems to be to utilize a stick-and-move approach, but he didn’t count on the fact that Bigelow is quick as a cat, and was able to catch Omori easily!
Once Bigelow got ahold of the youngster, things went downhill for Omori in a hurry! Bigelow pounded Omori into the mat, then delivers a Moonsault for the pinfall! The commentators are shocked that a man that size can hit a picture-perfect Moonsault like a junior heavyweight!
After the match, Bam Bam Bigelow takes the house mic from Takashi Yamada.
Bigelow says he’s putting everyone on notice, he’s here in Japan to win, and nobody is going to stand in his way! He says that he’s especially got his eye on the Triple Crown and Mitsuharu Misawa!
THE CAN-AM EXPRESS: DAN KROFFAT & DOUG FURNAS defeat MIGHTY INOUE & HARUKA EIGEN. Inoue and Eigen are very talented veterans, who have accomplished a lot in the sport. However, they just can’t match the combination of speed and power of the Can-Am Express. Kroffat wrestles Inoue and Eigen on the mat, which suits them just fine, but when Furnas comes in, he starts throwing the smaller opponents around!
In the end, Kroffat hits Eigen with a thrust kick that sends him right into the grip of Furnas, the legal man, who then drives Eigen into the mat with a German suplex for the 1, 2, 3!
VTR: Misawa & Kawada vs Miracle Violence Connection, 2-11-93, JIP:
The fans in attendance at Nippon Budokan are treated to a nearly 30-minute classic, but the match is edited down for TV. Williams and Gordy are a formidable challenge for the champions. While Williams can go hold for hold with just about anyone on the mat, he and Gordy also love a good slugfest! Misawa is a crafty technician, while Kawada is more a rough, rugged brawler with some of the most dangerous kicks that you’ll see anywhere!
The two teams put on an absolute classic, the momentum shifts many times throughout the match, neither team really has a clear cut advantage. In the end, the Miracle Violence Connection get the win when Williams drives Misawa into the mat with the Doctor Bomb for the 1, 2, 3 and the titles!!!
The fans in attendance are shocked, not only have Williams and Gordy taken the World tag team titles from Misawa and Kawada, but Dr Death just pinned the Triple Crown champ Misawa!
END VTR
THE MIRACLE VIOLENCE CONNECTION: STEVE WILLIAMS & TERRY GORDY defeat THE FANTASTICS: BOBBY & JACKIE FULTON. Two weeks after winning the World tag titles and proving themselves to be the most dominant team in wrestling, the Miracle Violence Connection take on the exciting team of the Fantastics, Bobby and Jackie Fulton!
Fans in attendance here at Korakuen Hall are treated to almost 20 minutes of fast-paced and hard-hitting action here, although the match is edited slightly for TV. The Fantastics surprise a lot of people by holding their own with the champions, but in the end, the rugged style of the MVC is just too much for the Fultons to overcome, and Jackie finds himself on the wrong end of a Powerbomb from Gordy for the 1, 2, 3!
After collecting their belts and trophies, Williams and Gordy take the house mic from Yamada. Williams says that everyone saw him and Gordy dominate Misawa and Kawada two weeks ago, when they won the titles, and everyone also saw him pin the Triple Crown champion, Misawa, for the 1, 2, 3!
Doc says that he heard their tag partner from last week, Bam Bam Bigelow, out here saying that he’s got his eye on Misawa. Doc says Bigelow had better get in line, because if anyone should be getting a title match with Misawa, it’s Dr Death!
Gordy says that anyone who wants a shot at these tag titles knows where to find them. He says that they won’t rest until they’ve beaten the hell out of every team in Japan!
TOSHIAKI KAWADA & KENTA KOBASHI defeat SCOTT NORTON & JOHNNY ACE. Norton and Ace certainly make an imposing team. However, Kawada and Kobashi subscribe to the old adage, the bigger they are, the harder they fall! Norton usually dominates the match when he’s in, but when Ace is in, Kawada and Kobashi gain the upper hand.
In the end, Kawada stuns Ace with a series of vicious kicks, including a big roundhouse kick to the head, then Kawada runs the ropes, and takes Ace down with a big Lariat for the 1, 2, 3!
GENICHIRO TENRYU & AKIRA TAUE & YOSHIAKI YATSU defeat MITSUHARU MISAWA & TSUYOSHI KIKUCHI & JUN AKIYAMA. These two teams put on an absolute classic! They wrestle on the mat, brawl, fight outside the ring, and even hit some high-flying moves! They go all out at a lightning-quick pace, and don’t slow down at all!
About 15 minutes of the 25-minute match are shown on TV.
The main story of the match is between Misawa and Tenryu, as we’ve seen Tenryu make some rather unflattering remarks about Misawa, and then attacked him from behind a few weeks ago on TV!
Misawa has two young and inexperienced partners with him, but they give a valiant effort here. Unfortunately, the inexperience shows, as Tenryu and his team are able to goad Kikuchi and Akiyama into making mistakes, then they quickly capitalize on them.
In the end, Taue has the upper hand on Akiyama, and he methodically wears him down. Taue then drives Akiyama into the mat with the Nodowa Otoshi!
Taue covers Akiyama, while Tenryu and Yatsu stop Misawa and Kikuchi from breaking it up. Akiyama can’t kick out, and Akira Taue picks up the 1, 2, 3 for his team!
As Tenryu, Yatsu and Taue are celebrating, there’s some commotion . . . and four men make their way out of the crowd and into the ring!
Tatsumi Fujinami, Riki Choshu, Hiroshi Hase and Masahiro Chono climb into the ring!
All four are wearing New Japan Pro Wrestling jackets, and Choshu takes the house mic from Takashi Yamada.
Choshu says that since 1972, there has been a rivalry between Giant Baba and Antonio Inoki, and by extension, between All Japan Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
He says that All Japan seems quite content to just go along, and do their own thing, apparently completely oblivious to the fact that they’re a distant second to New Japan!
He says that now, the best wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling are here, they’ve grown bored with the way things are, so they’re here to shake things up!
Tenryu gets in Choshu’s face, and there’s plenty of jawing going on back and forth between them.
Fujinami, Hase and Chono step up to Choshu’s side, causing the other five AJPW wrestlers in the ring to stand beside Tenryu!
There’s plenty of talk going back and forth, but officials and several wrestlers are able to get in between the two sides and separate them before things get physical!
Wakabayashi and Takeuchi wrap things up, and hype next week’s show. They can’t believe what we’ve just witnessed, as some of the biggest stars from New Japan Pro Wrestling have just shown up here in All Japan! What will this mean for All Japan Pro Wrestling, and wrestling in Japan in general?!?!
