10/5/96 - Nassau Coliseum Uniondale, NY
"Rock 'N Roll" Buck Zumhoff and his co-host with Captain Lou Albano welcome us to the exciting season premier of ECW Slammin's Saturdays live from Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York! They talk about the action-packed show they have lined up for the kids here today where we'll get some interview time with the longest reigning ECW Tag-Team Champions of all time Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes!
They then leave the rock 'n roll themed set and climb into their broadcast booth where they call the actions as Joel Gertner makes the intros for the first match of the evening! S.D. Jones officiates all the matches.
Match: Aryan von Raschke w/ Blitzkrieg & The Baron vs. Mike Quackenbush
Young Mike Quackenbush gets to show off some of his impressive arsenal in this one including the Quackendriver standing Iconoclasm and the Alligator Clutch double leg trap rana pin that wow the kids! But Aryan von Raschke isn't here to impress school children and after gaining the upperhand thanks to his father/manager Baron Von Raschke; he puts Quackenbush away with the Sieg Heil Superkick! The kids are already booing when Blitzkrieg enters the ring and hoisting Mike into the air flattens him with the Telegraph from Berlin Chokeslam for good measure.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
B. Brian Blair and Brady Booone are on hand to tell the kids that the letter B can only mean the arrival of one thing; The New Killer Bees!
Tag-Team Match: Dustin Rhodes & Tommy Dreamer vs. The New Killer Bees (Blair & Boone)
Tag-Team Champions Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes are in the ring when an annoying buzzing is heard and out come the New Killer Bees! B. Brian Blair starts things out with Rhodes in a nice back and forth contest which sees both men lock one another in a sleeper hold and Brady Boone hits a moonsault on Rhodes! The end comes for the Bees however when Tommy Dreamer hits the fireman's carry slam the announcers call Sweet Dreams on Blair for the pinfall.
After the match we're brought the the Slammin' Saturdays set where Buck Zumhoff is flying solo. He says that the Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer have definitely been an impressive duo over the past year becoming the longest reigning Champs in ECW history! He then welcomes his guests here this morning...
"The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer and "The American Nightmare" Dustin Rhodes! They have Beulah with them and she hugs the kids as they come out while the Champs dole out some high fives. They then talk to the kids about bullies and standing up to them. Dreamer tells us there's nothing a bully hates more than someone who doesn't put up with their... um, bad behavior. One of the kids then asks what they've been drinking out of that flask and Dustin tells them milk of course. How else do the kids think the Tag Champs got so big and strong?
Just then some laughter is heard and onto the set arrive Destruction Inc.! They mock Dreamer and Rhodes for "pandering to the kiddies" and tell them that soon these kids will be in tears because their pals Dreamer and Rhodes will be losing those Title to "The Machiavellan Mauler" Mongo Vyle and "The Man-Beast" Rhino! Dreamer and Rhodes however aren't running and stand up to the duo. They have a staredown before Vyle backs off and says that the Champs will get theirs soon enough. He don't wanna do anything here and traumatize some little brats. The kids cheer as the duo leave and...
The camera then cuts to a "Rocking 'N Rolling" segment where The Honky Tonk Man invites the kids at home to listen to a song to motivate all you little heros out there with Bonnie Tyler's "I Need a Hero!"
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Welcoming us back from the last commercial break of the evening Buck Zumhoff and Captain Lou Albano bring us back in time for the Wrestling Rewing Main Event all the way back from Welcoming us back from the last commercial break of the evening Buck Zumhoff and Captain Lou Albano bring us back in time for the Wrestling Rewind Main Event all the way back from December 14th of 1994 where "The Ravishing One" Rick Rude battled it out with ECW Legend "Captain Redneck" Dick Murdoch!
Main Event: Rick Rude vs. Dick Murdoch
Rick Rude and Dick Murdoch lock up when Davis starts the match. Rude doesn't appear to be taking "Captain Redneck" seriously at first pushing him away before taunting him with light slaps her and there. This proves to be a mistake when Murdoch finally catches holding of him and begins laying into him with hard rights and lefts before whipping him into the ropes and making Rude airborne with a back body drop. He begins putting the boots to Rick as he scrambles up to his knees and Murdoch hits the pleading "Ravishing One" with several hard hitting Flair-style chops. When Rick falls back into the ropes; referee Danny Davis breaks them up. This gives Rude an opening and popping up he hits Dick with an inverted atomic drop before taking the Redneck down with a clubbing forearm across the back. Rude hits an elbow drop and staying down locks in and armbar. Murdoch howls in pain and seems to be in real trouble; but he fights his way slowly toward the ropes. Before he can grab it however Rude pushes the rope back with his foot just out of Dick's grasp. Davis move Rick's foot and while he is preoccupied; Rick gouges Murdoch's eyes. While "Captain Redneck" rolls on the floor holding his face Rick taunts the audience with his strip dance. Returning to his prey; Rick lifts Dick to his feet and attempts a suplex; but a surprsingly agile Redneck slips flips out landing behind Rude whom he counters with a neckbreaker! Dick makes the quick cover. 1!...2!
Rude kicks out! Rude sits up looking stunned as Murdoch grabs him and begins hammering his skull. When Rick falls back; Dick storms about the ring "hulking up" as "The Ravishing One" gets up to his feet only to be taken down again by a clothesline and a cover! 1! 2!
Rick kicks out again! Keeping on his opponent Dick Murdoch lifts Rude to his feet; but Rick nails him with a sitout jaw breaker before making a cover of his own! 1! 2! Murdoch kicks out! Now in control again Rude pulls Murdoch to his feets and begins chopping him across the ring into the ropes. Once Murdoch hits the ropes he continues with a barrage of punches until Davis counts to four. he then whips the Captain across the ring and nails him with the spinebuster! He makes a nonchalant cover and gets another two for his arrogance. Angry at Murdoch's persistence; Rude picks him up to his feet and knees him in the gut before leading him to the corner and seating Dick on the top turnbuckle seems to be setting "Captain Redneck" up for a crucifix powerbomb off the second rope. Dick however begins fighting back with furious elbows; catching Rick in the head. Turning himself about while still holding onto "The Ravishing One;" Dick Murdoch leaps off calf branding Rude before rolling him over to make the cover. 1!....2!.....
Rude kicks out! 3! Staying on his opponent Murdoch grabs Rude in a headlock but Rick fights his way up to his feet only to be nailed with several punches and whipped across the ring. Dick ducks low for a back body drop. A little to early. And receives a kick to the face from Rude. As Dick Murdoch staggers back; Rick Rude sets him up in the Rude Awakening and hammers him into the mat. Making the cover he picks up the win.

10/5/96 - Nassau Coliseum Uniondale, NY
Buck Zumhoff and the Honky Tonk Man thank us for joining the original Rock 'N Roll broadcasting team for another exciting edition of ECW Weekend Warriors, tonight coming to you live from the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York! They hype tonight's card which will not only see the new Eastern States Champion Chris Benoit in action for the first time since winning the belt, but two astounding Tag-Team matches! First off newly formed Tag-Team "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam and "Ravishing" Rick Rude will face off against former ECW Champion Steve Corino and Jason Venom! But more importantly tonight we'll see Buck and HTM themselves in action! Because tonight they're out to "Shake, Rattle; & Roll" the tandem of Sex & Violence! Joel Gertner makes with the intros while Danny Davis officiates all matches.
Match: Rob Van Dam & Rick Rude vs. Steve Corino & Jason Venom
While Rob Van Dam and Rick Rude pose for the fans Honky tells us that this could possibly be the most conceited tag-team in the history of the business. Buck however thinks that the team's ego may in fact be warranted as they're the most decorated team in ECW history with "Mr. Wednesday Night" being the first ever Eastern States Champion while Rude not only wore that Title once but is also a two-time ECW Champion! Indeed should they win the Tag Titles at some point Rude will have worn the three most presitgious Titles here at Eastern Championshp! HTM says alright, alright Buck is making him sick with all his gushing over this new tandem.
Of course Steve Corino has just as much ego as either of his opponents in this one and wants Rude in the ring desperately. He gets the drop on Rob and isolates him in their corner where he taunts Rude. The announcers remind us that "The Ravishing One" is the man who ended Corino's run with the ECW Championship. There is alot of history in this ring. Venom and Steve make with the quick tags keeping themselves fresh as they work over Van Dam. But in desperation Rob connects with a jawbreaker over the top of his head on Corino and makes the tag to Rude!
During the break we get a split screen where Rob Van Dam and Rick Rude talk about how they came to figure out after their successful matches at Showdown in Charlotte and September to Remember that together they make the perfect team. And that now they have their sights on what such a dynamic duo as themselves deserve; the Tag-Team Championships!
And now that he's got him, "Mr. Wrestling" doesn't look like he wants anymore of Rude! Rick unloads with several punches driving his opponent back into the ropes before connecting with a running knee strike and plants Corino with a DDT! He gets a two count. Trapping Steve in a headlock next he pulls him to their corner and tags in RVD! Together they hit a double suplex on Steve and going up to Rob points to his shoulders before hitting the 5-Star Frogsplash!
And it connects! But big Jason Venom breaks up the count and pulling Rob up onto his shoulder he connects with a running powerslam! Corino crawls to their corner and Jason tags in. He works over RVD and traps him in a bearhug as "Mr. Wednesday Night" begins to fade; but Rob slowly begins to rally back and fights his way free! He steals the advantage before tossing Benom with a monkey flip and goes for the Rolling Thunder which connects! He then tags Rude in and while Jason Venom hobbles up to his feet he nails him with the Rude Awakening delayed hangman's neckbreaker and makes the cover! 1!... 2!... 3! Rude and RVD have won it! They celebrate inside the ring as ECW goes to...
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Back from break ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels is with another team that thinks they deserve a shot at the Tag-Team Titles. Who you might ask? Well "The Machiavellan Mauler" Mongo Vyle and "The Man-Beast" Rhino; Destruction Inc. of course! They say that the Tag Champs Dreamer and Rhodes got off lucky this morning on Slammin' Saturdays; shielding themselves with a bunch of snot-nosed school children. But they won't be ducking them for long; because Destruction Inc. is hot on their heels and for the Tag-Team Champions that can only mean one thing. They're about to get.... Destroyed!
Match: Lisa Moretti vs. Debbie Combs
Lisa Moretti and Debbie Combs have a good back and forth contest with several pin attempts by both women before Moretti hits the Poison Ivory kneeling facebuster for the win.
A video clip featuring snippets from matches that took place this past Wednesday's show. We see "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango blow a fireball on the helpless Prince Nana, "Too Cool" Brian Christopher hit the Hip Hop Drop on Chris Harris, Dean Malenko lock in the Texas Cloverleaf on Erin O'Grady, William Regal put Doug Gilbert away with a bridged Regal-Plex, Ron Simmons hit a snap scoop powerslam on Douglas Williams; and finally ECW Champion "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson put Jason Venom away with a big Spinning Spinebuster. The ECW Wednesday Nights logo then appears.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Back from break "The Gorgeous One" Michele Starr storms the ring with the ECW Women's Championship! He is offended and hurt that ECW management would reward Buck Zumhoff and that Elvis wannabe with a match after putting their hands on a true lady like Michele Starr! I mean hasn't he suffered enough?! He points to his Phantom of the Opera style mask. He's already been scarred for life by that hussy Jacqueline Moore! What more do they want him to endure?!
Tag-Team Match: Buck Zumhoff & Honky Tonk Man vs. Michele Starr & Joe E. Legend
His pleas fall on deaf ears as "Rock 'N Roll" Buck Zumhoff and the Honky Tonk Man enter the ring while Captain Lou Albano and Lanny Poffo come out to provide some very biased commentary against "The Gorgeous One." Zumhoff starts things out against Michele Starr who does alot of running and pleading with Buck at first until he distracts the ref and kicks Zumhoff in the crotch. With the advantage now in his favor Michele attacks Buck and dominates him for a bit before Honky gets the fans to rally behind him and Zumhoff begins making a comeback! He gains the upperhand and has Starr reeling before hitting him with the "Rocking and Rolling" springboard DDT! Starr however kicks out at two and bringing him to their corner he tags in HTM!
Honky works Starr over for a bit before hitting the Shake, Rattle; and Roll swinging necbreaker. But Starr once again hangs in there kicking out just before the three and jams him thumb into HTM's eye! With him blinded, Starr runs and makes the tag to Joe E. Legend who pummels Honky reels good, clobbering him with a backbreaker over his knee for a two count and as HTM gets to his feet he comes charging in with the roaring elbow! Honky ducks it however and rolls him up! 1!... 2!...
But even with his feet on the ropes Honky only gets a three! Legend charges after him, but Honky then makes the tag to Buck! Zumhoff leaps over Legend and connects with a sunset flip! 1!... 2!... Joe kicks out! Buck holds his own for a short time, but soon finds himself in trouble as Joe takes over and dominates his opponent whom he slams to the mat with the Godzilla Chokebomb for the three count! Michele Starr then enters the ring and pulling out his purse begins giving Buck a makeover! Honky tries to stop it, but ends up eating a Chokebomb of his own before getting tossed out of the ring by Legend.
After the match we're taken back stage for Captain Lou Albano's first ever "Rock 'N Rolling" segment where he invites us to party with his good friend Cyndi Lauper's new hit "Hey Now (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun)"!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Albano and Poffo are still in the announcing booth welcoming us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event by mostly talking about "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit who last week defeated "Macho Man" Randy Savage to win the Eastern States Championship at September to Remember! Tonight he faces off against a man the good Captain would love to see get his tucus kicked; his former client Steve Blackman!
Gertner: The following non-Title contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from Annville, Pennsylvania weighing 246 lbs. he is "The Silent Assassin" Steve Blackman!
Blackman comes down to the ring and gives a demonstration with his kendo sticks while Albano badmouths him on commentary until the Talking Heads hit.
Gertner: And now introducing his opponent this evening weighing 234 lbs. from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and accompanied to the ring by "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase; he is the Eastern States Champion "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit!
Main Event: Chris Benoit vs. Steve Blackman
Steve Blackman holds his own early on with a variety of kicks and strikes while a split screen comes up where in a pre-recorded segment Chris Benoit and his manager Ted DiBiase talk about Benoit's attack last week on Ron Simmons and the fans crying. Asking why Chris? Why? Well all Benoit has to say to that is: Why not? They both laugh. Inside the ring the momentum has shifted clearly in "The Canadian Crippler's" favor and locking in a waistlock Benoit proceeds to hammer Blackman around the ring with three consecutive German suplexes; the third of which he bridges for the 1!... 2!... Chris lets go? He then makes a throat slashing motion as he heads up top and leaping off connects with a flying headbutt! He hooks the leg and gets an easy three count off an uncionscious Steve Blackman. DiBiase raises Benoit's hand in victory as the...

Really liking the team of Rude and RVD. The only time milk is in Dustin's flask is when he is in the mood for some White Russian I got my Honky/Buck vs. Starr/Joe match that I wanted, and it did not disappoint! Great conclusion to an exciting bout. Your work with Michelle Starr has been stellar. Always good to see Quackenbush get some TV time. I think the new Killer Bees are a great addition to the stacked tag team scene. Blair was still part timing while in whatever office he held in Florida and stayed in great shape, Boone also was in great shape. Them, the Hangmen (who I haven't seen enough of lately), Rude/RVD, Corino/Venom, Ubermensch, Destruction Inc., man alive, you could do all tag bouts on one of these double weekend posts for me, that'd be awesome. Like the pairing of Dibiase with Benoit as well. Good work buddy.
