Smoky Mountain Wrestling owner Jerry Jarrett would like to announce two mergers that will change how the promotion is run forever.
First, Jerry Jarrett has decided to merge Smoky Mountain Wrestling with the United States Wrestling Association (USWA from now on). The USWA is a promotion set in Memphis, Tennessee, however has a global reach. With this merger, SMW will now recognize the USWA world heavyweight title currently held by Jerry “The King” Lawler as well as the USWA world tag team titles currently held by Dick Slater & Greg Valentine. Further down the line, Jarrett has said we will see title unifications between the SMW titles and the USWA world titles.
The second merger is an equally important one. The Gaylord Entertainment Group, owner of The Nashville Network, a national network centered around Southern US culture, has purchased minority stake in Smoky Mountain Wrestling. This purchase will enable SMW to move to a new home base at the TNN Studios and will make the promotion more widely available on a national level while continuing to be seen and tour it’s local towns and cities. This airing will start Monday February 20th and will air at 8pm live. When asked about other wrestling shows airing at that date and time, Jarrett was heard to say welcome to Monday nights.
