They welcome us to this week’s episode of “All Japan Pro Wrestling”!

Mitsuharu Misawa meets Jun Akiyama!
From there, we’ll see a gaijin 6-man tag team match that’s sure to be wild, as the Miracle Violence Connection team up with Bam Bam Bigelow to face the trio of Scott Norton, Johnny Ace and Tiger Jeet Singh!
And, our main event will see Toshiaki Kawada and Kenta Kobashi square off with Akira Taue and Yoshiaki Yatsu!
TSUYOSHI KIKUCHI defeats HIROYOSHI TENZAN. Tenzan shows a lot of promise here, but the more experienced Kikuchi gets the win with a German suplex into a bridge for the pinfall.
Two Weeks Ago on All Japan Pro Wrestling:
After the match, Mitsuharu Misawa takes the mic, he responds to accusations from Tsuruta-Gun that he and his friends don’t respect the older wrestlers. Misawa says it’s not about respect, he has a lot of respect for the men that came before, and paved the way. But he believes that Tsuruta and Tenryu are trying to hold the younger wrestlers down, for their own gain.
He says that Giant Baba stepped aside when it was Tsuruta and Tenryu’s time to shine, and all he, Kawada, Kobashi and Kikuchi want, is for Tsuruta and Tenryu to do the same, show them the same respect that they themselves received from Baba years ago.
Tsuruta says Misawa is a punk, and the two men stand toe to toe. Suddenly, Tenryu attacks Misawa from behind, and all hell breaks loose! Tsuruta leaves the ring, as he’s in no condition to get involved in all of this physicality, but the remaining men all brawl in the ring as we go to a commercial break!
END VTR
We go to the locker room, and pre-recorded comments from Triple Crown champion Mitsuharu Misawa. This was filmed right after he and Kawada lost the World tag team titles on last week’s show.
Misawa talks about the Triple Crown, and says that in the past, men like Jumbo Tsuruta and Genichiro Tenryu, who held this championship, they knew that holding it meant that they were the very best in the world. However, if he’s being honest with the fans, and with himself, Misawa still doesn’t feel like he’s deserving of being the Triple Crown champion, especially after getting pinned in the tag team title match.
He says that the only way he can prove to himself that he’s worthy of carrying this championship, is to beat the very best that pro wrestling has to offer. Men like Steve Williams, Genichiro Tenryu, Scott Norton and even his best friend, Toshiaki Kawada.
Misawa then focuses on Tenryu. He says that back in 1989, Tenryu did something that few men have ever been able to do, he pinned Jumbo Tsuruta in the middle of the ring to win the Triple Crown championship! He says that Tenryu is one of the very best to ever step foot in a wrestling ring, and that’s why he doesn’t understand why Tenryu resorts to things like attacking him from behind two weeks ago on TV?
Misawa finishes by saying that, at this point, the only way he’s going to feel truly deserving of this championship is to successfully defend it against Tenryu.
MITSUHARU MISAWA defeats JUN AKIYAMA. Akiyama puts up a valiant effort, and hangs with the Triple Crown champion for almost 15 minutes. In the end, though, Misawa gets the win by pinfall following the Tiger Driver.
After the match, Misawa takes the house mic and says that Akiyama has been improving with each match, and then offers the youngster a spot in the Super Generation Army!
Akiyama accepts, and the two men then shake hands before leaving the ring.
STEVE WILLIAMS & TERRY GORDY & BAM BAM BIGELOW defeat SCOTT NORTON & JOHNNY ACE & TIGER JEET SINGH. This isn’t so much a wrestling match, as a streetfight! There are very few holds being used, just six big, mean gaijins pummeling each other! The end comes when Terry Gordy pins Johnny Ace after a Powerbomb.
TOSHIAKI KAWADA & KENTA KOBASHI (w/ Mitsuharu Misawa, Tsuyoshi Kikuchi & Jun Akiyama) defeat AKIRA TAUE & YOSHIAKI YATSU (w/ Genichiro Tenryu, Masanobu Fuchi & Jumbo Tsuruta). These two teams put on a technical wrestling classic! All four men get plenty of offense, and the momentum shifts several times throughout the match.
As the match progresses, Kawada lays in some brutal kicks to the knee of Yatsu. This becomes the focal point for Kawada and Kobashi throughout the rest of the match. They take turns working over Yatsu’s knee, until Kobashi locks Yatsu in the Texas Cloverleaf. Yatsu tries to fight it, and Taue tries to make the save, but he’s cut off by Kawada! Yatsu can’t get out of the hold, and finally has no choice but to submit!
Wakabayashi and Takeuchi wrap things up, and hype next week’s show.
