“Global Championship Wrestling”

Dallas, TX
Taped- 2/10/93
Airs- 2/18/93
Airs- on ESPN, and in Syndication
Tribute to Kerry Von Erich. (I feel really uncomfortable writing a memorial on a fantasy wrestling site. Just know there was one, and you can imagine it being anything you wish.)
Marc Lowrance is in the studio.
Lowrance, “Welcome fans. Texas wrestling has suffered a tragedy. Our hearts go out to the Von Erich family. With the recent events our show at Tarrant County will now be the ‘Kerry Von Erich Memorial’. It will feature the best in wrestling. Here is what you will see.
The Patriot vs. Black Bart
‘Hollywood’ John Tatum vs. ‘Gentleman’ Chris Adams
We can add another tag team match, The Simpson Brothers vs. Billy Black and ‘Outlaw’ Joel Deaton
For the Global Jr. Heavyweight Championship
‘Hurricane’ Mike Dahl vs. Manny Villalobos
For the Global Tag Team Championship
Bobby Duncum Jr. and Big John Hawk vs. Tribal Nation
And in a match that takes on even more importance, Kevin Von Erich challenges the ‘California Stud’ Rod Price.
Let’s hear from Kevin Von Erich.”
We see Kevin sitting in a studio.
Kevin, “The Von Erich family are no strangers to tragedy. I remember when Kerry beat Ric Flair during a tough time for our family. I’m going to Tarrant County, and I’m going to do the same thing. No one is going to stop me, this is for Kerry.”
Match #1
Calvin Knapp vs. “Outlaw” Joel Deaton w/Buddy Roberts
Knapp is a game youngster, but Deaton is vicious, and he has “Tex” Roberts with him. Calvin starts fast, and Deaton is in retreat. Joel rolls out of the ring and confers with Roberts. He return to the ring, and goes right after Knapp. Calvin puts up a good fight, but Deaton hits the piledriver for the win.
Winner- Joel Deaton
Match #2
Axis the Demolisher vs. Brickhouse Brown
The popular Brickhouse returns to Texas. Axis has been impressive as well. Brown moves quickly, and controls the early action. Axis is methodical, and begins to dish out punishment. The match goes back and forth until Axis clamps on the cobra hold. Brown fights, but he is out.
Winner- Axis the Demolisher
“The California Stud” is with Doyle King.
King, “With me is the North American Champion Rod Price. Mr. Price, you meet Kevin Von Erich at Tarrant County on March 4. Kevin will be motivated, and he wants your title.”
Price, “Let him want it. Kevin Von Erich’s time has passed. The day of the ‘California Stud’ is here. The future belongs to me. I’m bigger, stronger, and younger, Von Erich, you can’t beat me, it’s time to retire!”
King, “The Stud is very confident.
Match #3
Non-Title Match
“The California Stud” Rod Price (North American Champion) vs. Alex Porteau
The champion meets the “Pug”. Porteau is a tough youngster, and will be a challenge for the Champion. Price is very arrogant. He might be taking Porteau a bit too lightly. Alex gets a quick two count, and Price is outraged. Rod gets aggressive. He overpowers Porteau and wins with the bear hug. This will be a great title match at Tarrant County.
Winner- Rod Price
The Simpson Brothers are with Doyle King.
King, “With me are the popular Simpson Brothers. Gentlemen, on March 4, you are signed to meet General Akbar’s men Billy Black and ‘Outlaw’ Joel Deaton.”
Steve, “Akbar’s men are very good, and he’ll stick his nose into things. Shaun and I know what we’re up against. Akbar always bad mouths America. Shaun and I have been here a few years and it’s a great country. We want to win the match, and shut up Akbar.”
Shaun, “Like Steve said, we came to America, and it’s a great place. Steve and I are ready for Akbar and his men.”
King, “The Simpson Brothers are in our next match.”
Match #4
The Simpson Brothers vs. Nick Busick and Joe Gomez
The South Africans take on two rugged foes. The popular South African brothers take on two rugged men. Shanu starts with Nick Busick. Simpson uses his speed and Busick counters with strength. Shanu takes over and then tags in his older brother. Busick is in trouble and tags in Gomez. The “Desperado” tries his hand. He looks good, but Simpson takes over and wins with a sunset flip.
Winners- The Simpson Brothers
Craig Johnson is with General Skandor Akbar and the Super Destroyer.
Johnson, “With me are General Skandor Akbar and the Super Destroyer. Your masked man meets Iceman King Parsons. Mr. Parsons, along with ‘Gentleman’ Chris Adams have been quite the problem for you.”
Akbar, “Craig Johnson, you love this don’t you? Those two have been a problem. We are going to eliminate them one at a time. Parsons, tonight is your night. My Super Destroyer will end your career.”
Johnson, “Let’s hear from the Iceman.”
We see Parsons in an interview area.
Parsons, “End my career? Come on and try sucka! The Iceman is riding high! Me a Chris Adams have you in our sights, and we gonna take care of business!”
Match #5
Iceman King Parsons vs. The Super Destroyer w/General Skandor Akbar
There is genuine hatred in this one. Parsons has the speed, the masked man the power. Iceman starts fast. He moves around and gets in his shots. He makes a mistake, and gets trapped in the corner. The SD dishes out punishment. Parsons is in trouble. With the crowd behind him, he fights his way out of the corner. Parsons whips the masked man into the ropes and clamps on a sleep hold. Akbar is livid at ringside. Super Destroyer gets to the ropes, and referee James Beard calls for the break. The match goes back and forth until SD slams Iceman near the ropes, and goes for the cover. Parsons gets his foot on the ropes, but Akbar knocks it off. Beard does not see this, and counts the fall. Parsons argues, but to no avail.
Winner- The Super Destroyer
Marc Lowrance closes the show.
Lowrance, “The Iceman will not take this lying down. Next week is our final show before Tarrant County. We will have final thoughts on the show.”
The program ends with a still shot of Kerry Von Erich.
