UWA FURY highlights(10/2)
In a UWA World Tag Team Title rematch, the new champions, Texas Broncos(Dustin Rhodes & Kendall Windham), battle former champs the Sheepherders to a wild and wooly double DQ that sees all four wrestlers bleed! It takes almost everybody in both locker rooms to break this melee up!
The Moondogs(w/Oliver Humperdink) defeated the new combination of Cactus Jack & “Dirty White Boy” Tony Anthony in another all out brawl. The announce team put Spot & Rex over as a team to be reckoned with in the future!
In a non-title match, Dean Malemko upset UWA World Junior Heavyweight champ Eddie Gilbert(w/Missy Hyatt) via submission to the Texas cloverleaf! Afterwards, Malenko demanded a title shot!
Sir Oliver Humperdink announced that after several weeks of negotiations with Eddie Gilbert, he had purchased the contract of Nord the Berzerker! Nord didn’t seem very excited by the news…
UWA FURY highlights(10/9)
The Texas Broncos do a fiery interview where they say the only way to settle the issue with those no good Sheepherders is the way their fathers would do it- a good old fashioned Texas Tornado match! No DQ and all four men in the ring at the same time! They want this match at the upcoming FRIGHT NIGHT PPV!
Austin Idol appears in a pretape where he is seen rolling dice at a crap table. Idol says these aren’t ordinary dice- they are the DOOMSDAY DICE! At FRIGHT NIGHT, if Tito Santana has any guts at all, he can put the American Title on the line in a Doomsday Dice match! Tito will roll the dice! Every number will have a match attached to it! Bullrope Match! Chain match! Falls Count Anywhere! “I QUIT”! Barbed Wire Match! 12 possibilities, each more dangerous than the last! Idol doubts a paper champion like Santana has the intestinal fortitude to accept!
Later on the show, Tito defends his title against Johnny Ace. Idol shows up at ringside during the bout! This really distracts Tito and nearly costs him his belt! Finally, Santana manages to pin his opponent. After the match is over, Tito accepts the challenge of the “Universal Heartthrob”!
BADD Company takes on the Hollywood Heartbreakers(w/Downtown Bruno). This is a very exciting match that ends in a no contest when Kokina gets involved on the Heartbreakers’ behalf and US Steel comes out to help Tanaka & Diamond!
UWA FURY highlights (10/16):
A contract signing is held for a Badstreet USA match for the Undisputed World Championship at the FRIGHT NIGHT PPV between Terry Gordy and Big Van Vader. At the contract, Madusa appears on Vader’s behalf and Michael Hayes appears as Bamm Bamm’s representative. Hayes and Madusa make vicious verbal attacks on each other and Madusa actually karate kicks Hayes in the face! It’s getting really personal between Vader & Madusa and the Freebirds!
Hacksaw Butch Reed continues his rivalry against Big John Studd(w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) in a one on one match. Reed has Studd up for a bodyslam, but Humperdink waves in Bobby Jaggers and Nord the Berezerker! Reed takes a real beating until Kevin Von Erich and Chris Adams run in for the save! Later, Humperdink is doing an interview when Reed, Von Erich, and Adams show up! Reed says at FRIGHT NIGHT, he and his friends will take on any three that Humperdink can come up with!
UWA FURY highlights(10/23)
Buddy Roberts & Michael Hayes are wrestling the Nasty Boys when Big Van Vader attacks both Freebirds and , along with Knobbs and Sags, beats them down! Terry Gordy comes into the ring and brawls with Vader! It takes UWA President Frank Dusek, all of the referees present, and most of the bayface locker room to seperate Gordy and Vader!
The Sheepherders defeat the Killer Bees. After the bout, Luke & Butch continue to batter Brunzell & Blair with their falgpole until the Texas Broncos run in and make the save! The Sheepherders say it will be their bloody pleasure to fight the Broncos in a Texas Tornado match at FRIGHT NIGHT!
Sgt. Slaughter takes on Austin Idol. Slaught has the cobra clutch applied when Colonel DeBeers jumps the Sarge from behind! Idol applies the Las Vegas Leglock on Slughter whil the South African whips Sarge with a belt! Finally, Tito Santana makes the save! Tito says he can’t believe that Idol would stoop so low that he’s work with scum like DeBeers! Slaughter challenges DeBeers to a boot camp match!

The Sheepherders & Col. DeBeers take on Sgt. Slaughter& the Texas Broncos. Naturally, this one gets out of hand quickle and ends in a double countout!
Tito Santana & Dean Malenko defeat Austin Idol & Eddie Gilbert(w/Missy Hyatt) as Malenko pins Gilbert when Missy’s interference backfires.
World Champion Big Van Vader (w/ Madusa Miceli) takes on Buddy Roberts in a non-title match. The referee stops the match when Vader traps Roberts in a corner and beats him until he cannot defend himself! Terry Gordy runs out, attacks vader and we have yet another wild, pull apart brawl!
10/31/88-FRIGHT NIGHT PPV!!! Live from Kemper Arena, Kansas City, MO:
Quick Results:
1. Michael Hayes & Buddy Roberts beat the Nasty Boys in 7:49. Roberts pinned Sags after hitting a bulldog set up by Terry Gordy slamming Sags’ head into the ringpost.
2. Hacksaw Butch Reed, Chris Adams, & Kevin Von Erich defeated Big John Studd, Bad News Brown, & Bobby Jaggers as Adams pinned Jaggers after a superkick in 8:14. Nord the Berzerker was scheduled to team with Studd & Jaggers, but before the match, Humperdink announced the Nord had not arrived at the building so Humperdink started out the match as an active participant! After Kevin Von Erich applied the iron claw on the manager and left him a bloody mess, Bad News Brown came to ringside and took Humperdink’s place for the remainder of the match!
3. Badd Company & US Steel defeated Kokina & the Hollywood Heartbreakers (w/Downtown Bruno) in 5:49 as Tanaka pinned Tatum after he and Diamong nailed Hollywood John with a double thrust kick.
4. After 26:37 of great wrestling, Dean Malenko forced “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert(w/Missy Hyatt) to submit to his Texas cloverleaf and take Gilbert’s UWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship.
5. UWA World Tag Team Champions Texas Broncos defeated the Sheepherders in a Texas Tornado match in 9:55 as Kendall Windham pinned Luke Williams after a lariat.
6. Sgt. Slaughter defeated Colonel DeBeers in a Boot Camp match in 10:01 after nailing the South African mercenary with a combat boot and pinning him. After the bout, the Iron Sheink viciously attacked Slaughter out of nowhere. When DeBeers recuperated, the two foreign menaces beat on the Sarge until Ranger Ross ran in and helped Slaughter fight them off!
7. Before the Doomsday match, American Champ Tito Santana rolled snake eyes, which meant the title would be on the line in a Falls count anywhere match! Santana pinned piledrove and pinned Idol on the timekeeper’s table at the 8:44 mark.
8. UWA World Champion Big Van Vader (w/Madusa Miceli) pinned Terry Gordy (w/Michael Hayes) in a Badstreet match to retain his title. During the match, Hayes interfered just as much as Madusa did. Vader pinned Gordy at the 13:57 mark after beating him to a bloody pulp with a steel toed work boot.Hayes and Roberts had to help their Freebird brother out of the arena after the match!
UWA FURY highlights(11/6):
In a pretape, we are introduced to Michael Rotunda. Michael is living in a mansion and dressed like he stepped out of GQ. Rotunda is very arrogant. He says he has all that life can offer, but he’s getting bored with his houses, cars, and investments. He is coming to the UWA to prove himself to be the greatest wrestler in the world! He’ll show everybody out there what class style, and atheleticsm is all about! And if anyone gets in his way, he’ll step on themlike they were a bug and leve them for dead!
Sgt. Slaughter introduces the fans to Ranger Ross! The Ranger is a great American who has served the USA and has been recognized by no less than Ronald Reagan as an American patriot and hero! Slaughter id proud do have Ross as a member of the Cobra Corps! Ross says he’s proud to be standing tall with Sarge. He’s not afraind of Colonel DeBeers or the Iron Sheik or any other lowlife that crawls out of the woodwork!
Missy Hyatt debuts a new interview segment called “Missy’s Manor”. Missy says that after losing his title, Eddie Gilbert has left the UWA! Therefore, she has strted something new! Her first guest is Sir Oliver Humperdink. Humperdink still has a bandage on his forehead as a result of Kevin Von Erich’s iron claw! Missy says just like Eddie let her down, Nord the Berzerker abandoned “Humpy” (that’s what she calls him here) in his hour of need! SOH agreees, but says that, in the end, he was rescued by one of all time greats! He introduces Bad News Brown! Brown comes out and says he’s been chaing that no account Butch Reed all over the country and he finally found him! He says when he’s done with Butch, he’ll never show his ugly face again!
Buddy Roberts wrestles Brian Blair. Roberts shocks everybody by pulling a black glove out of his tights and using ito knock Blair out and score a tainted win! The announce team wonders what’s up with Buddy Roberts and what will Michael and Terry think about it?
UWA FURY highlights(11/13)
UWA President Frank Dusek makes a major announcement: The UWA has a new home on the TNT network! We’ll make our debut with a holiday spectacular called CHRISTMAS CHAOS on Christmas night, live from the Los Angeles Sports Arena! After that, you’ll see UWA FURY every Sunday night at 8 PM on TNT!
From there, we got to a special VTR. We see Terry Funk riding a horse on the Texas plains. Terry acknowledges he’s not as young as he used to be, but he thinks he’s got one last ride in him and one last run as World Champion! He knows how big, strong, and tough Vader is, but no matter how much of an old fool people say he is, Funk is coming after the Undisputed World Title! He says he thinks World Titles make great Christmas gifts as he winks at the camera. Then, he rides away….
The Freebirds do a promo. Hayes talks about Gordy in the dressing room after Fright Night saying that the Freebirds used to do to their opponents what Vader had done to him. Hayes says they don’t like what they’ve become! They’re getting soft and weak! I actually visited a children’s hospital with Kevin Von Erich a few weeks ago! I should be kicking Von Erich’s butt, not doing charity work with him! Roberts is wearing the black glove from last week! He calls it “black beauty” and says it “kicks booty”! Gordy says he don’t care what the wrestling fans or anybody else think! It’s time the Freebirds went back to the Badstreet way of doing things! Hayes says it’s all about busting heads, breaking bones, making money, and winning titles!Oh yeah, and partying like rock stars! So basically, they announce a heel turn…
Vader does an irate interview! He says Terry Funk is a washed up saddle tramp! Funk has no business in the same ring as him! I’ll break him in half! Vader says he’s gonna start making examples of people. Vader says he knows the man he’s about to wrestle id Terry Funk’s pal. Funk, his blood is on your hands! Madusa tells Boni Blackstone that when Vader is like this, there’s nothing she can say or do!
Vader(w/Madusa Miceli) wrestles Cactus Jack and pins him after nailing four consecutive powerbombs! The paramedics have to place Cactus on a gurney and haul him out! Tony Anthony comes out to check on his tag team partner. Vader beats him up to and lands two Vader bombs on the Dirty White Boy! The champ is out of control!
Ranger Ross takes on Colonel DeBeers, despite DeBeers protesting. It looks like it’s over when Ross nails DeBeers with the combat kick, but the Iron Sheik runs in and they double team Ross until Sgt. Slaughter runs in and cleans house!
UWA FURY highlights(11/20)
“Dirty White Boy” Tony Anthony announces that Cactus Jack will be out of action for awhile because of the beating he took from Vader last week. DWB challenges Vader to a match this week on TV! The match takes place and, this time, DWB is victimized by the World Champion! Vader powerbombs Anthony four times before pinning him! Tony has to be carried out of the arena afterwards! Vader does an interview and says he’s gonna destroy everybody he gets in the ring with and it’s all Terry Funk’s fault! Until that fossil drops out of contention, people are gonna get hurt!
Michael rotunda makes his UWA debut and scores an impresssive win. He pins World Junior Heavyweight Champion Dean malenko after a pair of double underhook suplexes. The commentary team is very impressed!
Freebirds Michael hayes & Buddy Roberts(w/Terry Gordy) take on Jimmy Valiant & pistol Pez Whatley. The Freebirds are working as all out heels now and Kevin Von Erich comes to ringside to counteract Gordy. Not surprisingly, this turns into an all out fight and a double DQ!
Kevin Von Erich is the guest on Missy’s Manor. Kevin says he knew it was too good to be true that the Freebirds had started doing things the right way!Kevin says they can run the Von Erichs down if they want to! Kevin is proud that his family works with St. Jude’s
and Easter Seals and the Special Olympics! Kevin is proud that he tries to do the right thing! Kevin was prepared to bury the hatchet, but if the Freebirds want a fight, they’ve got it! Missy seems disgusted by Kevin and says she’s surprised to say it, but she starting to like the Freebirds!
UWA FURY highlights(11/27)
We see a VTR. The man known as Nord the Berzerker is dressed in a flannel shirt and jeans and he’s cutting trees in a forest. He tells us that he’s been living a lie for the last few years. When Eddie Gilbert sold him like an animal to that fat slob Oliver Humperdink, he realized that he needed time to find himself, so he joined a logging crew up here in the North Woods so he could find himself and clear his mind. He’s not some Viking and the days of him carrying a sword and acting illiterate are over. His name is John Nord and he’s from New Ulm, Minnesota. The other guys in the logging camp call him “Yukon John” and if the fans in the UWA want to call him that, it will be alright! He says he’ll be back real soon. In fact, he hears there’s a big TV special on Christmas and he’d like to be a part of that, if it’s ok!
On Missy’s Manor, “Megabucks” Michael Rotundo is the guest. She seems enamored by Rotunda. She says he has it all-looks, talent, strength, money...everything! Rotunda agrees with her, except for one thing, he hasn’t found the right woman t share it with! Missy points out that she is single. Missy and Michael leave arm in arm! Color commentator Magnum TA says it could be the start of something big!
In the first of a series of elimination matches to determine who will wrestle the Texas Broncos at Christmas Chaos for the World Tag Title, the Sheepherders defeat Badd Company when Downtown Bruno comes to ringside and strikes Paul Diamond with the Sheepherders’ flag pole leading to Luke Williams pinning Paul!
Dory Funk, Jr. does a promo where he talks about a match his father invented, the Bunkhouse Battle Royal. After explaining the match, he announces that there will a Bunkhouse battle Royal will be held at Christmas Chaos on Christmas night, 8 PM live on TNT! He says that’s not the only surprise that evening. He also says Terry isn’t the only Funk gunning for Vader, Dory himself will wrestle the Undisputed Champion in a non-title match tonight!
To determine who will wrestle the World Tag Team Champions at Christmas Chaos, the Moondogs(w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) defeat the Sheepherders as Rex pins Butch Miller after bailing him with a bone!
Big Van Vader(w/Madusa Miceli) pins Dory Funk, Jr. after a powerbomb. Funk gives the champ a spirited contest, but Vader is too much. Vader gives Funk a pair of German suplexes after the match and would have probably done more damage if Kevin Von Erich and Badd Company hadn’t come to Dory’s aid!
UWA FURY highlights(12/4)
Terry Funk appears and after winning a squash, he says he has been granted his request for a UWA World Title match at Christmas Chaos! Dory Funk, Jr. comes out and advises his brother not to take the match! Vader is more of a monster than a man! Dory says he wasn’t able to get out of bed until today after the beating Vader gave him and Cactus might never be the same! Terry responds that nothing will stop him from taking this match!
“Megabucks” Michael Rotunda and Missy Hyatt do an interview. They say they are deliriously happy as a couple. There’s one thing that would make it perfect: if a titleholder in the UWA had the guts to give Rotunda a title match at Christmas Chaos. The problem is that vader is busy that night and all of the other beltholders are gutless! Tito Santan crashes the interview and says he’ll defend against Rotunda if he can stop hiding behind Missy’s skirt long enough! An irate Rotunda says he will give Tito a wrestling lesson!
UWA FURY highlights (12/11)
It is announced that Dean Malenko will defend the World Junior Heavyweight Title at Christmas Chaos against Gentleman Chris Adams. They do a joint interview that amounts to a mutual admiration society. In the end, they shake hands and wish each other well.
It is announced that Kevin Von Erich, Pistol Pez Whatley, & Jimmy Valiant will take on the Freebirds at Christmas Chaos. After Kevin Von Erich wrestles a squash, he does an interview, but gets jumped by the Freebirds! Whatley & Valiant make the save, but not before Kevin takes a savage beating!
Valiant & hacksaw Butch Reed take on House of Humperdink members Bobby Jaggers & bad News Brown. The ring can’t contain Brown and Reed and they end up brawling all over the building. Valiant does pin Jaggers, but that’s lost in the clash of Reed and Brown!
There is a contract signing between Terry Funk and Van Vader. Vader is loud and keeps threatening Funk. Funk says the last time he saw somebody this overconfident, it was up in Toronto about 12 years ago. That guy’s name was Terry Funk and he lost the NWA title to Harley Race that night. Funk says he hopes the same thing happens to Vader on Christmas night! After both men sign, Vader turns the table over and challenges Terry to get it on! The veteran merely chuckles and wishes Vader a Merry Christmas!
The Texas Broncos defend the World Tag Title against the Killer Bees. This is a highly competitive match, but the Moondogs and Sir Oliver Humperdink arrack both teams with their bones, leading to a no contest! Both Broncos are busted open and do a fiery interview where they say they’ll fight fire with fire to hold onto the belts!
UWA FURY (12/18) highlights
Big Van Vader (w/Madusa Miceli) & “Megabucks” Michael Rotunda(w/Missy Hyatt) defeat Terry Funk & Tito Santana when Vader pins Funk with a German suplex. Funk holds his own against Vader, but ends up falling prey to the champ. The announce team says Funk is a heavy underdog and this doesn’t bode well for him!
Kendall Windham and Moondog Spot(w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) go to a no contest when Dustin Rhodes and Rex both get involved. The two teams have a pier six brawl. This time, the Broncos get control of the bones and are standing tall when it’s over!
12/25/88-CHRISTMAS CHAOS! Live on TNT from the Los Angeles Sports Arena! (Quick results)
The program begins with a special VTR. SYLVESTER STALLONE appears sitting in front of a fireplace. Stallone says he is s longtime wrestling fan and he has great respect for the men and women who compete in this great sport. Sly says he even made a movie called Paradise Alley about wrestling. That’s where he met his good friend Terry Funk. Tonight is the biggest night of Terry’s career and Sly wants to wish Terry the very best. He realizes how tough Vader is and that Funk is the underdog. Stallone says he knows a lot about underdogs! He’s confident that Terry will come out on top just like Rocky always has! Stallone wishes us all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and says that he’s gonna turn on his TV and watch some wrestling!
1. Chris Adams pins Dean Malenko with a backslide in 12:23 to win the UWA World Junior Heavyweight title. Although tempers flared a few times, this was mostly a technical match with several near falls.
2. Big John Studd won a Bunkhouse Battle Royal. The final five were Studd, Yukon John Nord, Kokina, Bad News Brown, and Hacksaw Butch Reed. Reed eliminated Brown and then eliminated himself by jumping over the top rope to go after Bad News!Nord was working to eliminate Kokina when Studd came up behind them and dumped both men over the top simaltaneously! Afterwards, Studd taunted Nord and they ended up in a wild brawl!
3. In a four way tag team elimination match, Badd Company defeated the Hollywood Heartthrobs, Nasty Boys, and Killer Bees to earn a tag team title match at a future date. Pat Tanaka pinned Jack Victory after a tornado DDT to secure the win for his team. Time of the final fall: 16:29.
4. The Fabulous Freebirds defeated Kevin Von Erich, “Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant, & Pistol Pez Whatley in 9:13 as Roberts pinned Whatley after Hayes & Gordy gave Pez a spike piledriver.
5. “Megabucks” Michael Rotunda (w/Missy Hyatt) pinned Tito Santana to win the American title in 10:59 as Rotunda knocked Tito out using brass knucks handed to him by Missy.
6. The Moondogs (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) beat the Texas Broncos for the UWA World Tag belts in 12:22 as Rex pinned Windham after jamming one of the bones in Kendall’s throat as Humperdink distracted the referee.
7. Hacksaw Butch Reed beat Bad News Brown(w/sir Oliver Humperdink) via countout in 7:22 of an absolutely wild match. Bad News was unable to re-enter the ring after Butch bulldogged him on the floor.
8. Sgt. Slaughter & Ranger Ross beat Colonel DeBeers & Iron Sheik in 5:44 as Slaughter put DeBeers out with the cobra clutch.
9. “The Legend” Terry Funk (w/Dory Funk, Jr.) defeated Big Van Vader(w/Madusa Miceli) in 12:43 to win the undisputed World Title. During the match, Dory carried Madusa out of the arena kicking and screaming after she attempted to interfere. The finish came after referee Tommy Gilbert went down after a three way collision in the ring. Cactus Jack ran in to try and revive the ref. Vader charged at Cactus, but Jack got out of his way and Vader ran into an empty corner, banging his head on the ringpost. Funk rolled Vader up as David Manning ran in to make the three count!
Well, I know it was a lot to digest, but it gets me to 1989! It's good to be back!

Terry Gordy comes into the ring and brawls with Vader! It takes UWA President Frank Dusek, all of the referees present, and most of the bayface locker room to seperate Gordy and Vader!
The Sheepherders defeat the Killer Bees. After the bout, Luke & Butch continue to batter Brunzell & Blair with their falgpole until the Texas Broncos run in and make the save! The Sheepherders say it will be their bloody pleasure to fight the Broncos in a Texas Tornado match at FRIGHT NIGHT!
Sgt. Slaughter takes on Austin Idol. Slaught has the cobra clutch applied when Colonel DeBeers jumps the Sarge from behind! Idol applies the Las Vegas Leglock on Slughter whil the South African whips Sarge with a belt! Finally, Tito Santana makes the save! Tito says he can’t believe that Idol would stoop so low that he’s work with scum like DeBeers! Slaughter challenges DeBeers to a boot camp match!

1. Michael Hayes & Buddy Roberts beat the Nasty Boys in 7:49. Roberts pinned Sags after hitting a bulldog set up by Terry Gordy slamming Sags’ head into the ringpost.
2. Hacksaw Butch Reed, Chris Adams, & Kevin Von Erich defeated Big John Studd, Bad News Brown, & Bobby Jaggers as Adams pinned Jaggers after a superkick in 8:14. Nord the Berzerker was scheduled to team with Studd & Jaggers, but before the match, Humperdink announced the Nord had not arrived at the building so Humperdink started out the match as an active participant! After Kevin Von Erich applied the iron claw on the manager and left him a bloody mess, Bad News Brown came to ringside and took Humperdink’s place for the remainder of the match!
3. Badd Company & US Steel defeated Kokina & the Hollywood Heartbreakers (w/Downtown Bruno) in 5:49 as Tanaka pinned Tatum after he and Diamong nailed Hollywood John with a double thrust kick.
4. After 26:37 of great wrestling, Dean Malenko forced “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert(w/Missy Hyatt) to submit to his Texas cloverleaf and take Gilbert’s UWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship.
5. UWA World Tag Team Champions Texas Broncos defeated the Sheepherders in a Texas Tornado match in 9:55 as Kendall Windham pinned Luke Williams after a lariat.
6. Sgt. Slaughter defeated Colonel DeBeers in a Boot Camp match in 10:01 after nailing the South African mercenary with a combat boot and pinning him. After the bout, the Iron Sheink viciously attacked Slaughter out of nowhere. When DeBeers recuperated, the two foreign menaces beat on the Sarge until Ranger Ross ran in and helped Slaughter fight them off!
7. Before the Doomsday match, American Champ Tito Santana rolled snake eyes, which meant the title would be on the line in a Falls count anywhere match! Santana pinned piledrove and pinned Idol on the timekeeper’s table at the 8:44 mark.
8. UWA World Champion Big Van Vader (w/Madusa Miceli) pinned Terry Gordy (w/Michael Hayes) in a Badstreet match to retain his title. During the match, Hayes interfered just as much as Madusa did. Vader pinned Gordy at the 13:57 mark after beating him to a bloody pulp with a steel toed work boot.Hayes and Roberts had to help their Freebird brother out of the arena after the match!

In a pretape, we are introduced to Michael Rotunda. Michael is living in a mansion and dressed like he stepped out of GQ. Rotunda is very arrogant. He says he has all that life can offer, but he’s getting bored with his houses, cars, and investments. He is coming to the UWA to prove himself to be the greatest wrestler in the world! He’ll show everybody out there what class style, and atheleticsm is all about! And if anyone gets in his way, he’ll step on themlike they were a bug and leve them for dead!
Sgt. Slaughter introduces the fans to Ranger Ross! The Ranger is a great American who has served the USA and has been recognized by no less than Ronald Reagan as an American patriot and hero! Slaughter id proud do have Ross as a member of the Cobra Corps! Ross says he’s proud to be standing tall with Sarge. He’s not afraind of Colonel DeBeers or the Iron Sheik or any other lowlife that crawls out of the woodwork!
Missy Hyatt debuts a new interview segment called “Missy’s Manor”. Missy says that after losing his title, Eddie Gilbert has left the UWA! Therefore, she has strted something new! Her first guest is Sir Oliver Humperdink. Humperdink still has a bandage on his forehead as a result of Kevin Von Erich’s iron claw! Missy says just like Eddie let her down, Nord the Berzerker abandoned “Humpy” (that’s what she calls him here) in his hour of need! SOH agreees, but says that, in the end, he was rescued by one of all time greats! He introduces Bad News Brown! Brown comes out and says he’s been chaing that no account Butch Reed all over the country and he finally found him! He says when he’s done with Butch, he’ll never show his ugly face again!
Buddy Roberts wrestles Brian Blair. Roberts shocks everybody by pulling a black glove out of his tights and using ito knock Blair out and score a tainted win! The announce team wonders what’s up with Buddy Roberts and what will Michael and Terry think about it?
UWA FURY highlights(11/13)
UWA President Frank Dusek makes a major announcement: The UWA has a new home on the TNT network! We’ll make our debut with a holiday spectacular called CHRISTMAS CHAOS on Christmas night, live from the Los Angeles Sports Arena! After that, you’ll see UWA FURY every Sunday night at 8 PM on TNT!
From there, we got to a special VTR. We see Terry Funk riding a horse on the Texas plains. Terry acknowledges he’s not as young as he used to be, but he thinks he’s got one last ride in him and one last run as World Champion! He knows how big, strong, and tough Vader is, but no matter how much of an old fool people say he is, Funk is coming after the Undisputed World Title! He says he thinks World Titles make great Christmas gifts as he winks at the camera. Then, he rides away….
The Freebirds do a promo. Hayes talks about Gordy in the dressing room after Fright Night saying that the Freebirds used to do to their opponents what Vader had done to him. Hayes says they don’t like what they’ve become! They’re getting soft and weak! I actually visited a children’s hospital with Kevin Von Erich a few weeks ago! I should be kicking Von Erich’s butt, not doing charity work with him! Roberts is wearing the black glove from last week! He calls it “black beauty” and says it “kicks booty”! Gordy says he don’t care what the wrestling fans or anybody else think! It’s time the Freebirds went back to the Badstreet way of doing things! Hayes says it’s all about busting heads, breaking bones, making money, and winning titles!Oh yeah, and partying like rock stars! So basically, they announce a heel turn…
Vader does an irate interview! He says Terry Funk is a washed up saddle tramp! Funk has no business in the same ring as him! I’ll break him in half! Vader says he’s gonna start making examples of people. Vader says he knows the man he’s about to wrestle id Terry Funk’s pal. Funk, his blood is on your hands! Madusa tells Boni Blackstone that when Vader is like this, there’s nothing she can say or do!
Vader(w/Madusa Miceli) wrestles Cactus Jack and pins him after nailing four consecutive powerbombs! The paramedics have to place Cactus on a gurney and haul him out! Tony Anthony comes out to check on his tag team partner. Vader beats him up to and lands two Vader bombs on the Dirty White Boy! The champ is out of control!
Ranger Ross takes on Colonel DeBeers, despite DeBeers protesting. It looks like it’s over when Ross nails DeBeers with the combat kick, but the Iron Sheik runs in and they double team Ross until Sgt. Slaughter runs in and cleans house!
UWA FURY highlights(11/20)
“Dirty White Boy” Tony Anthony announces that Cactus Jack will be out of action for awhile because of the beating he took from Vader last week. DWB challenges Vader to a match this week on TV! The match takes place and, this time, DWB is victimized by the World Champion! Vader powerbombs Anthony four times before pinning him! Tony has to be carried out of the arena afterwards! Vader does an interview and says he’s gonna destroy everybody he gets in the ring with and it’s all Terry Funk’s fault! Until that fossil drops out of contention, people are gonna get hurt!
Michael rotunda makes his UWA debut and scores an impresssive win. He pins World Junior Heavyweight Champion Dean malenko after a pair of double underhook suplexes. The commentary team is very impressed!
Freebirds Michael hayes & Buddy Roberts(w/Terry Gordy) take on Jimmy Valiant & pistol Pez Whatley. The Freebirds are working as all out heels now and Kevin Von Erich comes to ringside to counteract Gordy. Not surprisingly, this turns into an all out fight and a double DQ!
Kevin Von Erich is the guest on Missy’s Manor. Kevin says he knew it was too good to be true that the Freebirds had started doing things the right way!Kevin says they can run the Von Erichs down if they want to! Kevin is proud that his family works with St. Jude’s
and Easter Seals and the Special Olympics! Kevin is proud that he tries to do the right thing! Kevin was prepared to bury the hatchet, but if the Freebirds want a fight, they’ve got it! Missy seems disgusted by Kevin and says she’s surprised to say it, but she starting to like the Freebirds!
UWA FURY highlights(11/27)
We see a VTR. The man known as Nord the Berzerker is dressed in a flannel shirt and jeans and he’s cutting trees in a forest. He tells us that he’s been living a lie for the last few years. When Eddie Gilbert sold him like an animal to that fat slob Oliver Humperdink, he realized that he needed time to find himself, so he joined a logging crew up here in the North Woods so he could find himself and clear his mind. He’s not some Viking and the days of him carrying a sword and acting illiterate are over. His name is John Nord and he’s from New Ulm, Minnesota. The other guys in the logging camp call him “Yukon John” and if the fans in the UWA want to call him that, it will be alright! He says he’ll be back real soon. In fact, he hears there’s a big TV special on Christmas and he’d like to be a part of that, if it’s ok!
On Missy’s Manor, “Megabucks” Michael Rotundo is the guest. She seems enamored by Rotunda. She says he has it all-looks, talent, strength, money...everything! Rotunda agrees with her, except for one thing, he hasn’t found the right woman t share it with! Missy points out that she is single. Missy and Michael leave arm in arm! Color commentator Magnum TA says it could be the start of something big!
In the first of a series of elimination matches to determine who will wrestle the Texas Broncos at Christmas Chaos for the World Tag Title, the Sheepherders defeat Badd Company when Downtown Bruno comes to ringside and strikes Paul Diamond with the Sheepherders’ flag pole leading to Luke Williams pinning Paul!
Dory Funk, Jr. does a promo where he talks about a match his father invented, the Bunkhouse Battle Royal. After explaining the match, he announces that there will a Bunkhouse battle Royal will be held at Christmas Chaos on Christmas night, 8 PM live on TNT! He says that’s not the only surprise that evening. He also says Terry isn’t the only Funk gunning for Vader, Dory himself will wrestle the Undisputed Champion in a non-title match tonight!
To determine who will wrestle the World Tag Team Champions at Christmas Chaos, the Moondogs(w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) defeat the Sheepherders as Rex pins Butch Miller after bailing him with a bone!
Big Van Vader(w/Madusa Miceli) pins Dory Funk, Jr. after a powerbomb. Funk gives the champ a spirited contest, but Vader is too much. Vader gives Funk a pair of German suplexes after the match and would have probably done more damage if Kevin Von Erich and Badd Company hadn’t come to Dory’s aid!
UWA FURY highlights(12/4)
Terry Funk appears and after winning a squash, he says he has been granted his request for a UWA World Title match at Christmas Chaos! Dory Funk, Jr. comes out and advises his brother not to take the match! Vader is more of a monster than a man! Dory says he wasn’t able to get out of bed until today after the beating Vader gave him and Cactus might never be the same! Terry responds that nothing will stop him from taking this match!
“Megabucks” Michael Rotunda and Missy Hyatt do an interview. They say they are deliriously happy as a couple. There’s one thing that would make it perfect: if a titleholder in the UWA had the guts to give Rotunda a title match at Christmas Chaos. The problem is that vader is busy that night and all of the other beltholders are gutless! Tito Santan crashes the interview and says he’ll defend against Rotunda if he can stop hiding behind Missy’s skirt long enough! An irate Rotunda says he will give Tito a wrestling lesson!
UWA FURY highlights (12/11)
It is announced that Dean Malenko will defend the World Junior Heavyweight Title at Christmas Chaos against Gentleman Chris Adams. They do a joint interview that amounts to a mutual admiration society. In the end, they shake hands and wish each other well.
It is announced that Kevin Von Erich, Pistol Pez Whatley, & Jimmy Valiant will take on the Freebirds at Christmas Chaos. After Kevin Von Erich wrestles a squash, he does an interview, but gets jumped by the Freebirds! Whatley & Valiant make the save, but not before Kevin takes a savage beating!
Valiant & hacksaw Butch Reed take on House of Humperdink members Bobby Jaggers & bad News Brown. The ring can’t contain Brown and Reed and they end up brawling all over the building. Valiant does pin Jaggers, but that’s lost in the clash of Reed and Brown!
There is a contract signing between Terry Funk and Van Vader. Vader is loud and keeps threatening Funk. Funk says the last time he saw somebody this overconfident, it was up in Toronto about 12 years ago. That guy’s name was Terry Funk and he lost the NWA title to Harley Race that night. Funk says he hopes the same thing happens to Vader on Christmas night! After both men sign, Vader turns the table over and challenges Terry to get it on! The veteran merely chuckles and wishes Vader a Merry Christmas!
The Texas Broncos defend the World Tag Title against the Killer Bees. This is a highly competitive match, but the Moondogs and Sir Oliver Humperdink arrack both teams with their bones, leading to a no contest! Both Broncos are busted open and do a fiery interview where they say they’ll fight fire with fire to hold onto the belts!
UWA FURY (12/18) highlights
Big Van Vader (w/Madusa Miceli) & “Megabucks” Michael Rotunda(w/Missy Hyatt) defeat Terry Funk & Tito Santana when Vader pins Funk with a German suplex. Funk holds his own against Vader, but ends up falling prey to the champ. The announce team says Funk is a heavy underdog and this doesn’t bode well for him!
Kendall Windham and Moondog Spot(w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) go to a no contest when Dustin Rhodes and Rex both get involved. The two teams have a pier six brawl. This time, the Broncos get control of the bones and are standing tall when it’s over!
12/25/88-CHRISTMAS CHAOS! Live on TNT from the Los Angeles Sports Arena! (Quick results)
The program begins with a special VTR. SYLVESTER STALLONE appears sitting in front of a fireplace. Stallone says he is s longtime wrestling fan and he has great respect for the men and women who compete in this great sport. Sly says he even made a movie called Paradise Alley about wrestling. That’s where he met his good friend Terry Funk. Tonight is the biggest night of Terry’s career and Sly wants to wish Terry the very best. He realizes how tough Vader is and that Funk is the underdog. Stallone says he knows a lot about underdogs! He’s confident that Terry will come out on top just like Rocky always has! Stallone wishes us all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and says that he’s gonna turn on his TV and watch some wrestling!
1. Chris Adams pins Dean Malenko with a backslide in 12:23 to win the UWA World Junior Heavyweight title. Although tempers flared a few times, this was mostly a technical match with several near falls.
2. Big John Studd won a Bunkhouse Battle Royal. The final five were Studd, Yukon John Nord, Kokina, Bad News Brown, and Hacksaw Butch Reed. Reed eliminated Brown and then eliminated himself by jumping over the top rope to go after Bad News!Nord was working to eliminate Kokina when Studd came up behind them and dumped both men over the top simaltaneously! Afterwards, Studd taunted Nord and they ended up in a wild brawl!
3. In a four way tag team elimination match, Badd Company defeated the Hollywood Heartthrobs, Nasty Boys, and Killer Bees to earn a tag team title match at a future date. Pat Tanaka pinned Jack Victory after a tornado DDT to secure the win for his team. Time of the final fall: 16:29.
4. The Fabulous Freebirds defeated Kevin Von Erich, “Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant, & Pistol Pez Whatley in 9:13 as Roberts pinned Whatley after Hayes & Gordy gave Pez a spike piledriver.
5. “Megabucks” Michael Rotunda (w/Missy Hyatt) pinned Tito Santana to win the American title in 10:59 as Rotunda knocked Tito out using brass knucks handed to him by Missy.
6. The Moondogs (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) beat the Texas Broncos for the UWA World Tag belts in 12:22 as Rex pinned Windham after jamming one of the bones in Kendall’s throat as Humperdink distracted the referee.
7. Hacksaw Butch Reed beat Bad News Brown(w/sir Oliver Humperdink) via countout in 7:22 of an absolutely wild match. Bad News was unable to re-enter the ring after Butch bulldogged him on the floor.
8. Sgt. Slaughter & Ranger Ross beat Colonel DeBeers & Iron Sheik in 5:44 as Slaughter put DeBeers out with the cobra clutch.
9. “The Legend” Terry Funk (w/Dory Funk, Jr.) defeated Big Van Vader(w/Madusa Miceli) in 12:43 to win the undisputed World Title. During the match, Dory carried Madusa out of the arena kicking and screaming after she attempted to interfere. The finish came after referee Tommy Gilbert went down after a three way collision in the ring. Cactus Jack ran in to try and revive the ref. Vader charged at Cactus, but Jack got out of his way and Vader ran into an empty corner, banging his head on the ringpost. Funk rolled Vader up as David Manning ran in to make the three count!
Well, I know it was a lot to digest, but it gets me to 1989! It's good to be back!
