DICK THE BRUISER had been struggling to put people in the seats in the early 1980’s, he knew he needed to spend more money to get big names. He finally took on a partner in DR JERRY GRAHAM JR, so they could have the needed cash flow. Jerry in turn, talked DTB into bringing on another partner in ED FARHAT (THE ORIGINAL SHEIK) so they could use his contacts in Detroit for big pay days. With the bulk of the business now concentrating on the tri state area of Northern Ohio, Northern Indiana and Michigan, Jerry talked them into moving their headquarters and TV Show to Toledo Ohio where they could be centrally located. They started taping their TV at the Hotel Sofitel in Downtown Toledo airing on local TV throughout the area.
WWA Champ THE GREAT WOJO was clamoring for more competition. His amateur background had made him run through all of his challengers since he beat Stormy Granzig for the title. Finally, he got his wish and two men came in right away to challenge him. The huge wild man BRUISER BRODY, who goes by the name BRODY in this area, came up as did PAUL ORNDORFF. They waged a war with Wojo, each trying to be the one to take his belt from him. Where Wojo was once beating men by convincing fashion to keep his string of winning matches alive, he was now winning by either DQ or Countout and even losing some matches in that fashion. His manager Dr Jerry Graham Jr has been trying to instigate a feud with Orndorff vs. Brody so his man could have some breathing room but it has not happened.
Dr Jerry has his own problems, after SPIKE HUBER was not able to beat Wojo, Dr Jerry went on TV running him down again and again. Spike responded by challenging Jerry to a match on TV. After Spike was able to beat him, Jerry demanded rematch after rematch but was beaten everytime. Jerry is promising revenge but it might have to come in another form as Wojo is so caught up in holding onto his belt.
WWA Tag Champs THE WILD WARRIORS have had their hands full as well. THE OUTLAWS (BLACKJACK MULLIGAN and RON BASS) were the first to come into the area, they challenged for the belts but were beaten back everytime they got into the ring, leading to some grumblings between them. They have a match coming up with the OHIO PLAYERS (CHARLIE FULTON and AL SNOW) so it will be interesting to see if they are on the same page. Meanwhile the Warriors are now being challenged by the ZAMBOUIE EXPRESS (ELIJIAH AKEEM AND KAREEM MUHAMMED) managed by THE BRAIN EDDIE CREATCHMEN. A new tag team AMERICAN STARSHIP is coming to the area and promises to make waves but the biggest news of all is OLE ANDERSON is teaming with RAY STEVENS to form a team and they promise to take the WWA and beat it senseless.
Also in the area, EDDIE CREATCHMEN has THE SHEIK as well as ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER wrecking Havoc. MARK LEWIN is back in the area to try and recreate the magic he had in the 1970’s. BOBO BRAZIL and his son BOBO JR are in the area and promise to be in the thick of things. DICK THE BRUISER promises to still be in the mix as well. The TV is hosted by Jack Reynolds and Lord Alfred Hayes and Terry Sullivan is doing the interviews. It will air Late Friday Night at 11pm with the replay running Saturday Mornings at 9am.
